Good job clarv, keep up the good work!!!

On a side note, cryptorush is down because of the blackcoin fiasco, and that was the only place where there were pretty big sell walls for grumpycoin. If all that is being wiped out, maybe we can expect a good rise in GRUMP when it's gonna be listed on Mintpal soon?

I'm sorry for the people that lost money on Cryptorush, but hey, as this community would say "lost money on cryptorush? GOOD, invest in grumpycoin now!!"  Grin

Dropped down to 4th now.

Keep voting people. Link in my sig.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 25, 2014, 03:25:28 AM
Soo.. Any scamcoins been killed yet? And how much money has this group gotten out of extortion so far? Just curious... Why don't you guys just put your hashpower to the blackcoin or mintcoin multipools that are popping up? Those will probably have more success at killing shitcoins, and you will profit from it without having to run a racket.

Mintcoin is a a cheesy greenwash and will be absorbed into blackcoin in no time.

How do you suppose an un-minable coin will be consumed by blackcoin's multipools? Blackcoin is great (i'm a fan of both), but keep in mind that all mintcoin needs to do is jump from 16 sat to 32 sat and it will once again have a larger marketcap than BC (at this moment, anyways, who knows with BCs growth how long that will be the case though).... also keep in mind that Mintcoin has waaaaay more infrastructure already in place than BC does, so if/once it does jump up it will be sitting pretty.

edit: Also, i think blackcoin should reconsider its motto if it has plans to go big in the long-term. "Once you go black..." seems like somewhat of a racist sexual innuendo and I don't see that helping garner mass adoption imho.

Tis true. I am holding some BC, but thought about this earlier.

Currently as far as I can see all you can do with BC is trade against BTC. Nothing else.

Hello Grumpy fans,
some updates about upcoming wallet.

First tried upgrading to latest Litecoin code but so many changes and at the end nothing exciting for our grumpy holders so I decided to modify Megacoin wallet as it look way more interesting with frameless window and beautiful layout and heavy use of stylesheet and this wallet also has updated Litecoin and Bitcoin code. Megacoin has also done a really good developer job.

Network and coin parameters fixed and wallet is syncing until block 20465 where I get errors that I am investigating in the code as you can see in attached screenshot. I found where but takes some more time to debug.

Also showing here color identification of Megacoin wallet to be replaced with GrumpyCoin colors.
First window is changed to test but final colors and images will be decided later.
Megacoin wallet available here: http://megacoin.co.nz/downloads

Stay tuned!

Good work as ever Clarv. If you need my help being a guinea pig to test anything just let me know  Tongue

Nigeria Coin!?!

OK...Now that's just going too far.
Every scam in the 20th and 21st century has originated from Nigeria.
I wouldn't touch this coin with my worst enemy's cock.
And if I did mistakenly mine a few, I'm sure someone from Nigeria would start a phone scam to try to steal them from me.
Yeah...I don't think so....

Didn't the U.S. airdrop millions of condoms into Nigeria?
See how well that worked out......Just sayin..... Grin
Please touch with enemy cock. Rooster bring Nigeria good luck. Nigeria not scam. I promise riches and now I bring you Nigeriacoin. You send IPO, I send you Nigeriacoin. Yes? Good! You send yet? I VERY BUSY MAN, YOU SEND NOW! Nigeriacoin very good.

Thank you, thank you for condoms but need more. Each one only use twice.

Have you ever shot an actual pistol that produces a deadly projectile? If you have you know people do not actually fire a pistol in this manner.

Stop trying to be Gangsta' you are making yourself look very unintelligent.

Yes, when I decided to make a little graphic about this campaign, I went out and hired a photographer, got out my gun, and had him take some pictures of me.  D'uh.  How else could anyone get a picture like this.  I mean, it's not as if there's some magical machine that I'm sitting at that gives me access to pretty much any picture I want.  Of course not.  That's a picture of me.

So  I can see what you mean about the way I'm holding my gun making me look unintelligent.  You are clearly the smart one around here.

Anyway, here's a much more important question:  Have you seen all those Willie Wonka memes?  How the hell does Willie Wonka have the time to make all those.  I figured his time would be pretty much booked up with makin' candy.

If you were to implement x11, consider me on board.

There other hash solutions out there the best known of these being Scrypt-Jane and Adaptive-N which for the most part are the same. They both use a variable N factor which is locked to 2^10 in Scrypt. This is the memory requirement, 2^10 works out to 1024 bytes. Vertcoin a very popular Adaptive-N coin currently uses an N factor of 2^11 which works out to 2048 bytes, every time the N factor goes up the performance of miners drops by half. Vertcoin currently has half the performance of Scrypt and has a maximum N of 2^32 which works out to 4GB, most graphic cards cannot even do work at that level and with the current hash rate the difficulty of Vertcoin could not go low enough to support that level of N. Scrypt-Jane and Adaptive-N may be ASIC hostile but they are also GPU hostile.

X11 uses 11 well known and high performing hashing solutions chained together to generate the hashes required to generate new blocks. Since it uses 11 different hashes it is complex and unlikely to see a ASIC for it any time soon. The good news for miners is that they can use X11 right now to avoid multipools and start gathering coins that are going to become very important when the Scrypt ASICs hit. Mining X11 gives 3-4 times the hash power of Scrypt, uses less energy and generates even less heat.

This is the solution that people have been looking for.
Thank you for posting this feedback. Which specific coins are currently using X11? I would like to run some of my own hardware tests for comparison to see exactly how it performs.

Right now i relatively positive that only DARKcoin and HIROcoin have implemented the x11 ALGO.

Some quick specifications ..

1 r9 270 can run at about 1.2-1.5 M/Hash .. ( This is more or less irrelevant, as everybody gets an equal increase )

You will experience about 30-40 % less power draw. Measure it. I did.

You will no longer hear your GPU's sound like they are about to take off into the atmosphoere.

My r9 290's used to sound like a blow dryer or vacuum cleaner.. Audible even with the door closed from across the hallway...
Now with x11, I can't hear my r9 290's at all. They aren't silent, but they aren't about to explode.

Expect GPU temperatures to be much lower, and thus, save lots of money on air conditioning in the summer.
-- I know a few miners who had planned to shut down during the summer, but instead will solely mine x11 during the summer.

Come join hiro.suprnova.cc for a round or two just to see how your GPU's perform... HIRO is pretty unprofitable to mine i think, but just try it.

Use sph SGMiner .. Or the darkcoin miner .. just append -kernel darkcoin to your .bat file to tell it your mining x11

Informative post - Nice.

I think I'll look at trying X11 asap, and post back my results.

With so many new coins being released, and people moving from coin to coin like a mob, what do you think is the best way for DigiByte to break away from the pack?

We feel that focusing on getting DigiPay up and running and a few big merchants accepting DigiByte is what will allow for this to happen. What are your thoughts?

Digibyte can maybe tap into the Chinese market perhaps try and get onto bter.com exchange
This would be nice move.

It would be like getting onto Cryptsy...
This is a good point, promoting DigiByte into the Chinese market would be a great step. The first thing we need to get figured out is exactly how to translate "DigiByte" into Chinese. We have had several people tell us how to translate it or how they translated it but it has received different Chinese names from different people. This obviously can cause problems.

We don't know who to listen to on this as people are obviously translating it to what they think the name should be. Are there any reputable sources that might help with this and would understand exactly what we are trying to accomplish?

My Google Translate powers suggest that Digital Byte would be best!  Grin

Also dogecoin on the whitelist? -shakes head- Man. It's a shitty coin with no supply limit. It's worth should be 1 satoshi, max. The only reason the price is so "high" is because people believe in it and idiots "invest" in it. Also, what goal does dogecoin has? Please enlighten me.

But well, that is my (most likely unpopulair) opinion.

Doge was an example over the mans own coin PopularCoin!!

great to see h20 lived up to the scam accusation and its great to see the reminders for users in the thread of the scam. awareness is the key

Will you please reply to questions asked instead of beating around them by posting more nonsense.

How many coins have you started?
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 08:48:32 PM

IMO the main vector to attack shitcoins (and greedy miners) must be an educational and informational posts where you will explain the situation with the coin (multiple posts by respected members in shitcoin thread).
Other good measure is to get a trusted mod that will delete shitclones threads and ban these newb "devs". Also it's important to limit the activity of users in Ann section (make new threads pre moderated or something like that).

Ah, wasn't aware that r3wt came out with a shitcoin too. The OP also has his share of shitcoins, as well.

Anyway, this thread has little to do with educating or protecting people from shitcoins. Evidence enough should be that the person who started this thread, and members who support it, made their own shitcoins.

They want to kill the competition, and illegally extort other devs, or they will be attacked. It's a money grab that nobody but other scammers/criminals would support -- all under the guise of supposedly protecting newbies from evil shitcoins.

And then to add to it they are using shill accounts on this thread to make it look like they have genuine support.
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 23, 2014, 08:36:07 PM
Wait.

This is coming from muddafudda ? How many shitcoins did you release ?

I'm sure this remark has been posted before in this thread but I don't have time to scan through 40 pages.

Also, R3wt too?

The pair of you care to disclose how many Alt's you have to your names?
