I'm terrified to buy the s1, I was reading the set up and trouble shoot and now I'm worried I won't be able to set it up....

So i 've  had fun with the u1's I bought from a us supplier how much more complex are the s1's.  If I order the miner does it need a seperate power source I think I read this somewhere, and does the power source have to be custom built? Thanks for the replies guys!
You can use an ordinary computer PSU, with some care in selection for one that provides enough power on the pcie power connectors. Beyond that, they're basically self contained— a little embedded mips computer running linux and an ethernet port.

So  a 450 w PSU with two pcie connectors should be sufficient , considering bitmain's 360 watts a the wall statement, and do I need to understand the 3 +12 v DC input  statement  or will the two pcie's sort all this out?

Add a photo of your miner with a hand written note that has your bitcointalk name in it.

I mean the psu having too much power frying the circuits? Is it possible?

No. Think of it the other way around. The devices pulls only as much power as it needs from the power supply. The power supply does not force power into the device.

Ahhhh k  makes sense thanks

3$ and some cents a gig hash that's on par with some preorder miners isn't it?

What about too much power?

That's subjective.  If you're concerned with efficiency just underclock them.

My first purchase has been with canada customs now for 4 days

Why would they hold them? If I order it would be to Canada, please update  when you get them
