81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China: Man Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Railway Electricity to Mine Bitcoin on: October 10, 2018, 09:06:01 PM
3.5 years is excessive though jesus. THREE YEARS just for stealing electricity? Man I am glad I don't live in China, sounds like a horrible place to live.

I think a more reasonable sentence is three months, or possibly even just long community service, what a joke.

He stole $15 019 worth of electricity.
We don't know the details, maybe he caused some hazard while doing this?

He mined 3.2BTC worth 120 000 yuan using electricity worth 104 000 yuan as The Paper reports.
I think this is common practice in many countries, I've used to live a man who was stealing power for his household use, wires were visible in the corridor but no one cared  Sad We can only wonder what's happening in datacenters, powerplants etc. when there is such simple way to convert electricity and computing power into money.

Such practice is common in places where there is little or no control over public infrastructure. especially in government buildings where bills are paid directly by the Government.

Yeah, exactly, that's why he chosen railway station as railways are often controlled by government.

Congrats to the winner 👍
I couldn't take part because of my health issues even posting on this forum from chromebook is an issue for me, let alone using desktop pc and hacking  Undecided
But maybe I'll find some drug to kill the pain and other problems and will be able to take part in next Pip's challenges  Cool [honestly don't think so  Cry]

So who won? I kinda doubt anyone who won such a large amount of coins would stay silent..... What..No bragging? What about the other winners?

Not everyone is using throwaway accounts, in many countries you may get killed for having such amount of money, maybe he's thinking what to do with it.

Smells fishy.

Well, it's crypto wild west, trust no one  Tongue
83  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have to make big investment before you can make profit in crypto? on: October 10, 2018, 08:13:00 PM
But at the same time,  one need to understand that investing with big capital will fetch more profits.
For instance,  an investor that invested $2m and the one who invested $5k will not make same amount of profit.

That's not entirely true, because those two different investors may have different targets and mindsets.
You have to take into account what percentage of that person's wealth does the investment represent.
Someone who invested like 50% of his total money will be much more cautious and he can exit with smaller percentage earned.
With $2m 1000% increase (x10) will be enough for many people. Of course they can leave some money invested but they'll take most of their profit.
With $5k x10 increase may be not enough to start converting into fiat - so that person may hodl instead. If he hodls until x1000 he'll get $5m and from there he'll be close to outperforming $2m investor because next increases in value may put his profit above the wealthier investor's.
Little investors are also better suited for decline in the market as they're not risking their life savings.
Of course this is not directly related to the amount invested, it given example it may be completely other way round - $5k may represent all money that second investor have and he'll get out during x2 or x5.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alts coin vs BTC on: October 10, 2018, 07:45:14 PM
You can't really answer this question.
For sure there will always be an altcoin more profitable than BTC during bull market, but it's difficult to predict which one altcoin it could be. Profitability of altcoins come from the fact there are new altcoins created everyday and their starting price is often low, maybe as low as BTC in 2009 so you can get loaded with very little investment. But with greater potential return the risks are also greater.
So theoretically alts will be more profitable, but it's difficult to know which ones, so if you invest $100 in alts you can lose money or earn a lot, wherever $100 put into bitcoin will give you some smaller but more sure profit.

I understand you didn't want to put full images here but putting text links instead is also bad - just create smaller images (thumbnails) and link them to full images.
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Number of altcoins keep increasing! on: October 10, 2018, 07:36:21 PM
If these altcoins have any value some of them may join their forces in future, as many of them tries to solve similar problems and are based on similar ideas - it could be pretty interesting.
And remember, altcoins are bitcoin inflation, don't get mad just keep mining, catching airdrops and bountyhunting  Cheesy

88  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Women in Crypto - Where are they and who are they? on: October 09, 2018, 07:15:26 PM
Because women are not that good when it comes to business and technical things. It's an evolutionary thing. Men were taking risks by going for a hunts etc. and women stayed in a cave and protected their home/ children. It's still valid. Of course there is lot of women that will take risks and lot of men who won't, but not majority.

90  Other / Off-topic / Re: Coca Cola contemplates cannabis made drink on: October 09, 2018, 06:36:47 PM
Cannabis would make you more addicted to their drink so it's smart move from their perspective.

They should go back to putting coke in Coca Cola and not cannabis Smiley

Locals are chewing Coca leaves and they are OK, so maybe it's not that stupid idea. I've been reading a book on drugs all over the world and they even wear shirts with slogans "Coca is not a drug".

91  Other / Beginners & Help / Is there any hope for me? Sold too early + health problems on: October 09, 2018, 06:27:04 PM
Hi

Do you think that there is some hope for me?

I had some valuable coins in past, but I sold them before they got really valuable.
I would need $100 000 to get my life back in track.
I have some idea connected to crypto but I don't have a budget.
I would need people from all over the world to cooperate in running local versions of my site in return for percentage of profit.
There would be viral effect, so if I could get first 1000 users I think it should work.
Do you think I should try to make last effort and start this project? I have serious health problems which make using computer for me difficult. But initial version of my project would be pretty trivial to do.

Thanks for any advice.
92  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoiding irrelevant bounties on: October 09, 2018, 06:18:18 PM
They support one group...and it's not the participants, it's the "developers" trying to pitch their coin that bounty campaigns benefit, that's it! If an up and coming ICO has a great use case it doesn't need people on a forum or people with a twitter account to promote it.

You're completely wrong, I've been in one great projects from very beginning and they didn't promote it as they should and I was even embarrassed to promote it on my own (in my country) but after some time they skyrocketed, if they would employ some clever marketing campaigns from very beginning they would be lot more popular much earlier. Many shitcoins are professionally marketed these days and that's why you think that.
93  Local / Polski / Re: Strony "rozdające" BTC za przepisanie capcha lub obejrzenie reklamy on: October 09, 2018, 06:03:54 PM
A ile oni tam wypłacają?
94  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have to make big investment before you can make profit in crypto? on: October 09, 2018, 06:00:46 PM
$100 to $1 million is entirely possible, I'm a good example - I could have such amount only if I would HODL.
But the problem is when you have no other income source, then you sell. And periods when nothing happens, you can lose your trust in crypto and exchange them to fiat to buy something and try other things.
$0 to $100 000 is also possible if you have good computer which you can use to mine some new altcoins or participate in some airdrops/ bounties.
95  Other / Off-topic / Re: Introducing the 310 BTC Bitcoin Challenge on: October 09, 2018, 05:56:47 PM
Very curious about the final answer and about the difficulty of the last one... is there an end date? like one year or something?

I think there is no end date.
But unless OP decides to pull out (as it has happened before - I saw such cases on reddit) I think it'll be solved pretty quickly, as you can see there are at least several groups of people trying to decode it and probably many other such groups are hidden, there is a lot of money to be won so expect fierce competition.
96  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Should I teach myself Python on: October 09, 2018, 05:48:01 PM
I think it's a cool language, but you should choose good course/ book, I finished Michigan University course (2 or 3 parts) and it wasn't good, it didn't even cover objective programming.
But don't get too fixated at learning, start some projects when you learn a bit, I started 3 different courses and forgot what why I was learning this language for  Grin

As for PHP, many people make fun of it. And in some cases it's understandable but in others not. As someone who used PHP and a little Python I can say that PHP looks better suited for web applications as you get a lot of different modules/ libraries/ functions included in core package (or you can enable it by deleting one comment in php.ini) whereas in Python you have to use 3rd party libraries and learn how to use every library a lot, because there is no uniformity between them.
Python is great language as per simplicity is concerned. Considering the amount of code one needs to write for the same work in java or c# ,python can help you to reduce code and manage it efficiently.
Yeah, in python you can write something that would require multiple lines in most other languages in just one line, but this is kind of hackerish and I wouldn't like to maintain code written in such way, but it's surely cool  Cool
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin bring an end to Paypal? on: October 09, 2018, 05:37:41 PM
I had terrible experience on paypal there security is weak and there customer services are not responding but on bitcoin i believe that it could changes all. Bitcoin is more securitable and fastest transaction and easily to use that would be popular if bitcoin could be implement.

I would agree with security, it should be strengthened, for example currently you can set to be asked for 2FA during login but it would be lot more secure to ask for 2FA before any transactions.
Customer service is a mess, but at least there is some customer service, with BTC you have to rely on your own/ community support.

Until there isn't any rules regarding how long you can just fight in parter, Khabib just might be unbeatable. And i think, that they should regulate it somehow, that fight was hella boring to watch.

Ladies would be bit more entertaining  Wink
That night the most interesting part started after the fight has ended  Shocked
99  Other / Off-topic / Re: Introducing the 310 BTC Bitcoin Challenge on: October 08, 2018, 08:32:25 PM
I won't even try to solve this as I'm an idiot (I could have enough money from crypto for few years but I sold instead hodling etc.) but I found this very interesting:

On top of this I too received all those free airdrops and I decided it would be fun to make someone else happy with it. Bitcoin already changed my life. Almost a year later, this bitcoin challenge was born. Yes most, not all, of the 310 BTC offer comes from free airdrops.
Wow man, these had to be hell of airdrops  Shocked
Best regards to my family, everyone involved and all good people
^^^ in case this topic is in TV  Cheesy

This is my first experiment and I will probably launch a few more challenges in the future.

100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty Or Trading? on: October 08, 2018, 07:51:27 PM
I will ask you which one is the most beneficial of these two things? what will you choose? and explain why you chose it. who knows it will give input to everyone who reads. if I myself might be a bounty can be profitable and maybe the results of the bounty will lead to trading. What is your opinion? share your experience here

Why not both?

If you're able to get a lot coins from bounties without much effort then you're getting free trading money. Of course if that particular token/ coin ever enters the market.
Generally I have no idea about trading  Angry and I lost a lot by simply not hodling, isn't hodling the new trading? Even trading on stock exchange is risky because of market manipulation so on cryptos it's just wild west, so I would exercise extreme caution when trading altcoins (unless you're one of the manipulators  Grin).
