Its not enough to just check sender e-mail, there is software that can fake a real blockchain from sender name, but when you click on link it will reroute you to the fake site. Best practice would be if you did not expect any mail, just remove it without opening. By just click open the spammer will know you took action and opened it, its called 1-pixel tracker and is used as a marketing technique. The sender will know your ip and date/tine of touching the mail. /KX

Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Would a brain wallet based on a password hashing algorithm be secure?
|
on: October 30, 2019, 09:01:24 AM
|
Now, there are certain hashing algorithms specifically designed to resist attacks on hashed passwords: bcrypt, scrypt, and argon2id, for example. They have these advantages: - They are much slower than SHA-256. For example, Litecoin's configuration of scrypt is about 1000 times slower than SHA-256.
- They require much more memory, which limits the parallelization.
- They also generally include a "salt" parameter that limits the ability to use pre-generated hash tables.
My question for the experts: would switching to an appropriate hash algorithm such as the ones listed above be enough to make a brain wallet secure? Simply NO, as long as your password is something possible to guess, a strong enough CPU crack farm can do it. Ive broken passwords with scrypt where you need a CPU with 32GB of ram and it was really really slow. Even though the password was 12 characters it was based on known phrases from dictionaries and therefor insecure. It does not matter if you use capital letter add number and special character, as long it follows a formula its possible to brake. My 5 cents /KX

Download Btcrecover > input wallet id > get the .json file > bruteforce it
I watched the video, that is great and I will try it when I have time. So the important question is, do you have enough money in there for you to take all this hassle?
In fact, I don't have too much bitcoin in that wallet, and I am only curious that there are ways to recover wallets on blockchain.com without seeds. Now I see we can do it. However, the key things is we have to remember some keywords that we would used for our wallets, better combination of phrases/ digits as we remember will help to bruteforce password more easily and faster. The speed of the wallet recovery also depends when you created the wallet and which version. There is a huge difference in recovering a wallet from 2014 or 2018. I have managed to get 50million guesses on a 2013 blockchain wallet where a newer version from 2018/2019 is a comple different ballgame.

Do you still have the SEED?
No, I don't have seed. I created it in 2017 and it is my very first bitcoin wallet. I just reset 2FA of that account minutes ago, but the recovery page has only one option, which requires seed. Are there other way to recover my account without seed? First you need to ask them to remove the 2FA (from support) Second click on forget ID and ask them to send you wallet ID. (click on send my wallet ID on login page) or here: https://login.blockchain.com/#/reminderThird you use the script in btcrecover called download-blockchain-wallet using the ID they mail you, you might need to confirm with email. Then once you have the wallet.aes.json you can use John the ripper to extract the hash and then use software like hashcat to bruteforce it if you remember part of the password. if you dont remember it, hire someone to do it for you. Good luck! /KX

In recent years, I am mainly in the Crimea. It is not very warm here, like in Costa Rica. But so sunny and lower prices in shops.
And so I get a message from Upwork:
- Your account is blocked, because the IP you are writing from, is located in a territory prohibited by US law.
Here it is!
VPN did not help me - they recognized him.
Now I have difficulty finding a job.
Why do politicians prevent ordinary artisans, like me, from quietly earning a living?
Thank you for reading to the end.
The reason is simple, Upwork went public a few months ago on Nasdaq in New York and since Crimea is not recognised by the US goverment they wanted to comply with the regulation once they got publicly traded. After reviewing your webpage, I could recommend switching you gmail account to protonmail or something more neutral before it gets banned too. Thats my 5 cents /KX

I am wondering which countries in the world have the cheapest electricity, and would thus be ideal for mining bitcoins.
I am from Australia, and I can tell you that we have some of the most overpriced electricity in the world, meaning I will probably need to go overseas if i want to mine competitively.

|

Hey! How do you take preventive measures to avoid getting your cryptocurrency stolen or hacked? I read news about Bitpoint and Binance hack and it seems while exchanges are definitely are at risk of getting hacked, no doubt. But how do the crypto holders protect from hackers?
Do you use any special tools?
There is a tool called vanitygen on github, you could easily download and make from source. Disconnect from internet and run from an usb. You can even specify the first letters of your public key, I do this for our family wallet(s), each member have part of their first name in the wallet After solving the public key you have two option. Store the pub/priv key on that pendrive in a textfile or write it down on paper. I have done both. (But didnt write it done, instead printed the textfile) Move funds to the wallet and reboot the computer (to remove any traces from RAM) Good Luck! /KX

About four years ago, I bought my friend some donuts. He downloaded the bitcoin wallet app on my amazon blu phone and gave me $10 worth of bitcoin instead of cash. Since then I have switched over to an iphone, and completely forgot about my bitcoin account until recently. Is there a way to recover my bitcoin account? I know nothing about anything.
If you still have your phone, then yes you can. /KX

on: September 05, 2019, 11:39:22 AM
|
Hello, I am wondering if it is possible for a private key to have a validity period. And if so if there is a possibility to reactivate it? And can I check somewhere if the money in my wallet has been moved when I only have the public key?
You can write a smart contract which will automatically move the funds if they are not being used for a specific time or until a specific block is mined. There are also a couple of new wallet(s) coming out with this feature. So it's not a private-key per-se but rather a wallet with a private key that has an expiration date/block. As to your second questions, yes, you have several options to have a watch only address with alert function if the balance change for that specific public key. You can also write custom tools for this, in python if you run a node locally (for that specific block chain) /KX

Hello everyone!
I need someone who will write for me a detailed Guide: "How can I make a fork the latest version of Dash". I can give an example of guide (for the old version of the Dash). You need only correct it (actualize to latest version) and make some additions. So, I would like to get the guide and make a fork following it completely. And my fork must be working.
What is your time schedule and budget? Would you use upwork?
