161  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: wallet.dat brutforced correct pw but still qt wallet says its wrong on: July 24, 2019, 06:56:33 PM
hacked? What do you mean? The coins are still in the wallet as i can see on blockchainexplorer...

Did you try using pywallet and export the private keys?

the github is here:
https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

Try running it with the GUI by adding the right port (8989)

Good luck, if you need more help let me know, I have used it many times with corrupt wallets with good success.

Hei,

https://www.facebook.com/Bitcoinsnorway/

13.05.2019
"Ny nettside og oppgradert backend går online ikveld mandag 13.5.2019.

MK

De har förmodligen tippat din order...

Thank you I found the wallet.dat and opened Bitcoincore but it says 0 BTC.

Seeing this I recognize that I tried to transfer the mined btc to that bitcoincorewallet but i failed.

I think I let them in the Miningprogramm or whatever.

All I know is i had a Miningprogramm and it showed me how much BTC were mined so far... thats all

Perhaps i deleted that Programm but some files can be found.

But honestly if I watch my Fileexplorer, there were no files deleted in the last 10 years...

You should get pywallet and with that you can dump your keys and see which addresses are used.

You can get it here: https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

It will let you even use a GUI if you connect to the right port.

169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Get automatically an email if a bitcoin adress is used? on: July 11, 2019, 06:18:13 PM
Hello,

is it possible to get an email notification if a transaction took place on a certain btc adress?

If yes, how is taht possible, do you know any service which realize that?

Yes its possible if you know some programming, python is preferred.

I have a python script which checks a data file with a list of watch only adresses, and then for each mined block it checkes against the list. We run a node locally.

As per your second question, some other fellow bitcointalk users has pointed out a few services like blockchain.

170  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Need some help with recovering one of my old wallets on: July 09, 2019, 07:49:27 PM
It's been a while since I've been a part of the bitcoin project. Got extremely bitter after Gox collapsed since I had 90% of my holdings on there. After a recent attic cleaning, I found my old drive, which is supposed to have the other 10% (I believe it was in the thousands of bitcoins, definitely more than one thousand, not exactly sure). I tried every possible password combination I could remember, but it didn't work. The only thing I know for sure is that the password is 10 characters long.

This isn't feasible for me to bruteforce on my home computer, so I was wondering if anybody has experience with smarter algorithms that would be able to decode my wallet passphrase in a shorter amount of time (I'm hoping within a week or so). I've been in a financial crunch recently, and to be honest, had mostly forgotten about cryptocurrencies, so finding my old drive was a very welcome surprise. Feels good to be back in the game. Also, if anyone has contacts with some good wallet recoverers, please let me know, and I will do my best to arrange for an in-person meeting.

Since you seem a bit unaware of the size of your holdings you should first parse the wallet file to see if there is any bitcoin at all.

There are several tools on github, easiest to use is pywallet, you can get it https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

If you decide to crack it yourself try btcrecover (also on github) or if you have access to gpus get hashcat , you can read more about hashcat at hashcat.net

If you want to know more I will be doing a keynote regarding wallet recovery at malta blockchain summit in a few months (as I did in May with Ledger CEO)

ps. even with a decent rig a 10 character password will take a while, so your best bet is using a dictionary attack with some basic rules, or seup btcrecover to do variations of the passwords you believe you used.

172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need Help finding or recovering bitcoins off an old hard drive on: July 07, 2019, 07:27:54 AM
If I manage to use the Jackkack wallet ...  from GitHub, does it have to be ran from the same hard drive or can I scan multiple drives  connected  with USB?

How much time/ how much expertise would it take to properly run such a program?

Would someone be able to walk me through it or is it too complicated??

Hello

you should not install any software or run anything from the drive you try to recover as it overwrites data.

Boot from USB or external drive.

Personally I recommend you create an image of the drive before you start playing around as you might overwrite sensitive data
and have it as a backup.

And yes, you can scan multiple drives, but do them one by one. On average 500gb takes 5 houra to run.

173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need Help finding or recovering bitcoins off an old hard drive on: July 04, 2019, 06:21:16 PM
Hello there,

I have a dilemma! I remember buying Bitcoin at its infancy 2009/2010 however remember deleting the wallet and all related programs as the PC was running so slow and was crashing!!
got a new PC then and left the old (now none bootable) one untouched till recently when I downloaded some Deleted file recovery software to try to find the wallet or any sign of it!!

I am very primitive when it comes to computers do not know coding, Python or any other PC language just a simple Windows operator!

Any bitcoin/blockchain specific identifying file, cookies, programs, scripts.... names to plug in to the recovery software search that would hint to existence of bitcoin/ wallet or blockchain on the old hard drives?
any Windows software that I can download/ buy to find/ recover them?
What do you recommend to see if it's worth going to the next step of professional recovery??

Thank you all.

Hello,

You should boot the computer from.a.USB drive and then run a tool called pywallet, it will go through your drive on sector level and find possible wallet files, encrypted keys or unencrypted keys, even if the files afe deleted.

You just need to install python and required libs.

pywallet could be find on github and its open source.

174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: using btcrecover. Need help with tokens on: July 04, 2019, 06:12:04 PM
I changed the token to
^%A            first letter is uppercase
%2,4d$        last two or four is number
%3,7[a-f]      I omitted the (i) forcing search on just lower case and omitted (0-9) because there will not be any digits.

Running this just gave me more possible combinations.  Why am I off track?

Have you tried hashcat?

You may simply use a mask attack and you can use multi gpu which will increase speed alot compared to btcrecover.

BTC recover is not your first choice if you dont have an idea of the password, only length

175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help ! accidentally sent btc to bch wallet !!! on: June 24, 2019, 03:23:16 PM
Hi guys ,thanks for having me !

The thing is this,i purchased some BTC from an atm machine and accidentally  sent them to my personal  BCH wallet instead of a BTC wallet on bittrex

,I opened a support ticket stayed with them for 2 days online and after providing all the infos they asked me (receipt/wallet address/TXID etc. ) they said there is nothing they can do.

Is there any chance I can recover my funds and transfer them to a a generated BTC wallet?

Thanks  !

How much did you loose? if its over 1000usd you can always open another ticket, its a case by case scenario and how NICE you are, they still might help you.

Another possible way is to start a Reddit thread, they rather want to have good publicity.

As long as the address you sent to is yours, its up to them, I know people who tried more than 10 times until they accepted.

176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: how to use 6 years old wallet.dat ? on: June 23, 2019, 01:19:09 PM
Hi guys,

i hope you can give me a short advise. Many years ago i have done some mining and i saved my wallet.dat from official bitcoin client at this time.
Now there was some forks and splits etc. and i want to make sure i mess nothing up.

Some years after i mined bitcoin, i just could download the official wallet, install it, copy my wallet in and it was imported.

Is this still the case if i donload the official wallet ? And what is the official wallet ? Here i see only IOS/Android: https://www.bitcoin.com/wallet/

Questions over questions, i hope somebody knows.

thanks in advance
Davisss

There is no official wallet. Best way is you export your keys , check balance and use electrum wallet . If you use the bitcoin core wallet it might take a long time before you sync.

Run this tool to view and export your keys https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

Check balances https://www.blockchain.com/explorer

import keys to this wallet https://electrum.org

178  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: WalletNotify with Multiple Wallet on Same Node on: June 21, 2019, 06:36:21 AM
Just out of curiosity, then how does wallets like blockchain.com manage millions of wallet? They may be receiving walletnotify callback every second.

I got your point and we also thought of the same, to run loop for every wallet on our node to check for gettransaction.

You run two databases, one which is storing all tx for all transactions, one which is holding all public keys for your wallets. for each mined block you update databse #1, compare with number 2, then send notify. You can do this in python.

I tried passwords many times! I'm sorry I can't do it.

This is the information from the console. The other day, I made a $1 BTC call to this address to try it out.If you can help me find my password, I'd like to pay 5 to 10 BTC in parallel (provided I don't provide. dat files)
