Hello,

Someone has got your funds, and probably because you were using a weak wallet like electrum.

Another weak wallets are USB keys which are masked as LEDGER or TREZOR and are very easy to compromise if you loose them.

Don't buy a ledger for 99USD, print your keys to paper, or stay tuned for a new revolution, which is keyless wallets...

142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lost Bitcoin Core wallet. on: August 25, 2019, 10:17:15 AM

So if i need to re-install bitcoincore to a different machine because something hapened to my original bitcoin core ...blackchain and all...
i would be praying i have the wallet.dat and then i would copy that file over to the new installation  roaming data folder and bob is my uncle?
what do i need to private keys for though?

You can also do a deep scan of your drive. If you only did a quick-format then its possible to look for keys on the drive on a low-level.

To be safe, make a backup copy of the entire drive, preferably an image.

Then scan the image for possbile wallet.dat files or private keys.

You can do this with a tool call pywallet, you can get it from here: https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

Good luck!

143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC are also restored when done through seed? on: August 16, 2019, 08:12:29 PM
Electrum create a .dat file but if I want to use my wallet elsewhere without that file, the seed is enough or btc are not restored?

you can always use your seed to recover the private keys

a very useful tool for this is https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

For security reasons use it offline.

hope you find this helpful.

hello is there a code to be able to crack several wallet.dat files

ex: wallet.dat ====> pass1 ====> no found
      wallet2.dat ====> pass1 ====> no found ect..........

yes, you could use Hashcat for this.(i have done this with 20+ wallet.dat files)

First you need john the ripper to extract the hash value from each wallet, put all hashes in one file.( the python tool is bitcoin2john.py)

then use hashcat and specify the hash file as the hash

note, this only works with same versions of wallets, i.e. if you use 11300 it should apply to all hashes

you can dowbload jtr here  https://github.com/magnumripper/JohnTheRipper

you can download hashcat here  https://github.com/hashcat/hashcat

good luck!

ps. i would also recommend to use hashcat brain to store all tried attacks to avoid doubles

145  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: 0.1 BTC prize - Find Electrum pass by knowing both unecrypted+encrypted wallet? on: August 14, 2019, 09:06:55 PM
To this day no one replied to me with the password for the test encryption.

Apparently it is not possible to reverse a given encryption to it's known unecrypted state and find the password in the process.

Well, theoretically its possible if you could store the decryption process in an ARM processor. There are ways to decrypt the AES key with tools such as the chipwhisperer, using methods like power consumption detection.
What you describing might allow someone to determine the private key being used to decrypt something when an attacker has physical access to the computer.

It is not possible to look at a decrypted and encrypted version of a file and determine the decryption key.

Thats why I wrote IF you can store the decryption process in a ARM processor, which is whats "having physical access" would simulate.

I was just attending the Blackhat Las Vegas forum last week where we did this hands on with python scripts. You can do this both for AES-128 and AES-256. The tool I'm talking about is this: https://newae.com/tools/chipwhisperer/

I'm not going to argue wheather its possible with your specific case, but wanted to throw in my 5 cents on technologies out there which are available and theoretically could prove what you are trying to solve.

149  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: FasterCapital. Helping startups get up and running and prosper on: August 09, 2019, 03:32:28 PM
This could be a godsend for some of the indie startup guys that have no connections and hence stay unnoticed forever.
Can you let me know if there are any legal limitations to who and what you can fund? Maybe jurisdiction wise?

Also, are you open to collaborating with someone who might act as a liaison between you and such startups that might need your help?

Copied from their site;

No-Cash principle: Our incubator (co-investor) company will not give entrepreneurs cash funding. Instead, we will provide technical development needed for the startup in exchange of equity.

Co-Funding principle: We will invest usually 50% and we can increase it but never 100%. The entrepreneur should secure the other 50% either through angel investors, government funds or from savings. We can invest more than 50% but never the full amount.

Fair equity principle: FasterCapital would like to receive 20%-40% equity in the startup in the incubation program.

-
So its basically they help you with development, but never give cash.

I've just received this e-mail from Github:

to me
Due to U.S. trade controls law restrictions, your GitHub account has been restricted.
For individual accounts, you may have limited access to free GitHub public repository
services for personal communications only. Please read about GitHub and Trade Controls at

So, people of Iran(like me), Cuba, Syria, North Korea and Crimea (200 millions?) are subject to US Trade Controls as a whole and they can't use GitHub accordingly  Grin

157  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Rollback a chain...How it works?? on: July 27, 2019, 08:32:43 AM
In case of a 51% attack to roll back any chain to a specific moment, the chain could be rolled back at any state in the past in  matter of minutes/blocks,  or the attack should last as much the time passed from the event that  should be reverted till the start of the attack?

What you refer to is called in general terms a re-org.

It happened to most of the chains and basically more than 50% of the miners need to agree to the re-org or a hard-fork.

You have several cases that happened here:
https://nulltx.com/top-4-cryptocurrency-blockchain-reorganization-events/

Or by definition by bitcoin.it

or more detailed description here

158  Economy / Services / Re: New Member Introduction - Private Jet Charter on: July 27, 2019, 08:22:57 AM
Hello all!

My name is Kyle, I'm the President of a company called BitLux. We specialize in global private jet charter and have been in the industry for quite some time (I was raised in it).

Why am I here?

To read and respond! I have used public forums for tons of things in the past and I am surprised that I haven't stumbled across this until now.

I'd really like to hear input from people based on experience in watching markets make a transition to blockchain tech - not NEW industries, but rather how things have been shifting over from existing industries.

Looking forward to some discussion!

-- K

Hi Kyle

I will be looking for a flight from Las Vegas on the 4th evening or 5th in the morning to Van Nuys then going back to Vegas on the 8th, do you know your average prices for the service going LA-VEGAS?

thanks in advanec

What os are you planning to use for the recovery, i can write out a step by step as I've done this recently for a client in New York.

160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need Help finding or recovering bitcoins off an old hard drive on: July 25, 2019, 09:51:58 AM
all hard drives have been sector by sector cloned as a precaution a while ago, (great idea to have a just in case backup for the backup)  I just need to learn how to run the Jack Jack wallet script through all of them:-/ !!!

Did you manage to run it?

Depending on your os the settings are different.

If you specify os version and drive size (yes, drive size has to be included in the search) I could write out the parameters for you.

A typical drive (non ssd) takes about 5-8 hours for 250 gb

It prints out possible keys.
