Well, we need new Win wallet compiled ASAP. My old windows client keeps downloading the wrong fork from old Satoshi:1.2.1 peers. Tried to create a GrowthCoin.conf file to manually connect to new 1.3.0 client nodes (connect=), it just does not connect at all.
Having the same result . Unable to sync to grw.blockx.info fork block 502786. Is this a linux/windows divide. My wallet was the 1.2.2 windows, I always kept it running on the PC and now it will only sync to blocks 503464 Getpeerinfo shows "addr": "[2001:0:5ef5:79fb:4b5:832b:dbe9:c34d]:17177" Is there anyway to stop my wallet connecting to this type of address and force it to IP's. It seems like new client v1.3.0 is not compatible with old 1.2.1 version and does not connect. And there is no windows build for 1.3.0 yet Looks like there is no way to get the correct blockchain with old 1.2.1 client.

Yes it's up to date now.
Noooooo ! xD THANKS ! So, if my wallet says 503372 whereas explorer says 502635, I'm on the fork ? What should I do ? Is my ip baned ? Yes it looks like you are on the wrong fork. You need to delete blockchain files and re-download the blockchain (always backup your wallet.dat !). If you run old Windows client you can download older blockchain version here to sync faster.

Pool up with latest client from git.
However payout are disabled until I'm able to move coins from old to new wallet. As syncronization in pc is very slow I think I will able to do this on Saturday morning.
All forked blocks are market to be payed from the pool when payout will be activated.
Thanks
You can download May 07 version of old client blockchain here - http://acidpool.com/misc/grwchain_may_07_2014.rarWill sync much faster.

Another fork? unick, are any of the changes you're making going to help keep this from being a problem? Checkpointing or something?
Pool was 226 blocks ahead the block explorer. I think that when the number of nodes will be stabilizate with the hardcore seeds and with the client speedup that there is now, situation will be better. It looks like block explorer is stuck at block 501065 18 hours ago. Right now my seed node 67.211.45.68 and home desktop client are both at 502515 Wondering if it correct one.

Hey guys here are the new commits to the source. I activated the DNS seeds witch greatly improves the get connection time when the client is freshly installed or the peers.dat file deleted. I managed to get connected within seconds with a fresh install... no config file to mess with I have setup a dns seed host (seed.grw.blockx.info). I plan to make it an automated process so the host can scan for good nodes to connect to in realtime. If someone wants to host another dns seed host for redundancy please do so. send me the link and I will add it to the source. If you can setup a static node, that will also be a great addition for the network. I can host DNS seed host but need some directions how to setup it properly - never did it before Already run two GRW static nodes on my servers.

With that PoW design, the header of the thread should be changed to "Stable value design coming soon - Bottlecaps first coin to reduce price volatility".
CAP goes 200% POS as decided by the community. Could you please stop flooding here in this topic and start your own thread with your theories? Thank you.

Don't worry, I put this up mainly so people can follow the changes and to be as transparent as possible the URI fixes is to be able to link a growthcoin://ADDRESSHERE to the client (when you click on an address on a website to make a payment for instance). I still have a few minor changes I want to include before I set to build the windows version. That being said, if you or someone else wants to compile, they are free to do so I've been looking through the source and there's a few things left from the old versions, but it's coming along nicely. Next release, say 1.3.1.x maybe we can add a "Unlock Wallet" feature/button on the "overview" page/section, like Peercoin, Mintcoin, Jackpotcoin wallets have. What do you guys say? would be great

is grw.multi-pool.info down? its the only grw pool i know of and the frond end at least seems to be down, my comps are still mining though apparently...
It's only the front end, owner will fix it soon. Mining works fine.

Does noot sync!
Add to your conf addnode=cap.nodes.btcrypt.net:7685 and it will sync. I've updated it to the latest version flound did above. Connected to 39 peers at the moment. S. Hi sheffters. I have added this as a dns node. I was able to get connected and sync'd using this without anything else. However there are a few things. When I do a nslookup I only see one address. It should be many addresses. See below Yours: nslookup cap.nodes.btcrypt.net
Non-authoritative answer: Name: cap.nodes.btcrypt.net Address: 87.106.246.28
Here is hbns: nslookup seed.hobonickels.info
Non-authoritative answer: Name: seed.hobonickels.info Addresses: 162.243.251.173 176.31.250.94 5.39.90.17 5.249.152.30 24.93.183.133 71.91.14.102 82.146.37.116 84.45.63.205 98.232.23.64
Your peer did supply me with other peers. About 2,000 worth. So I would be good for the future, but better for the dns node to point to other peers address right away. Anyway it is working for now, so thanks! Also if anyone wants to be a dns node, it would be good. 3 or 4 is a good number to keep the network healthy. do you have a link handy to how to set this up? Maybe something like that one https://github.com/sipa/bitcoin-seeder ? I can host a dns node on my servers but have no skill to modify this software for the coin. I also stumbled upon that, I'll give a look to see if this can be used. If someone already modified it for some alt coin, please share, it will save us some time I found it modified for auroracoin here - https://github.com/JoiBlumen/auroracoin-seederand for worldcoin - https://github.com/Bushstar/worldcoin-seeder

You might as well toss Mintpal on that list as well then. Both sites work in the same way, so going for two, hopefully getting on one is possible. Plus you get free votes on each one, . Personally I don't like Mintpal voting system, their anti-bot feature is too paranoid. They can shave off honest free votes (happened to me) or even completely remove the coin from the voting and refund paid votes. Cryptsy voting looks more reliable, I think the better strategy is to concentrate paid votes on one major exchange to get listed faster
|
|
|
I agree.
We just need to get our things together first, finishing the wallet is a must. Then start promoting. I think volume should rise.
Getting onto one major exchange is another important step we need to get over. It gives more credibility! We DON'T need to be on thousands of exchanges, just one major and that's ok!
I think getting on Cryptsy should be a goal. Mintpal is pretty decent as well, but Cryptsy is probably easier to get on to and has more volume as far as I'm aware. With their new addition of USD pairing, that should make it all the more sweet! yes and if I recall a few pages back, there was a discussion about pooling together to buy the needed votes... We should definitely look into that! We definitely need to get it on Cryptsy. I think the good plan is: 1. New wallet. 2. New nicely designed re-ann topic. 3. Get GRW added to Cryptsy voting page. 4. Buy votes.

We can find no bugs with the source code. The reason for the block speed is due to rising difficulty.
Kind Regards,
Raxe.
Actually difficulty has nothing to do with block speed. If block speed is 1 block in 60 sec then it should be average 1 block / 60 sec regardless of difficulty. The purpose of difficulty change is to keep 1 block / 60 sec rate. Difficulty was high yesterday when coin network hashrate was 60+ Mh/s. Today it's dropped to 4 Mh/s because it's just impossible to find a block.
