I sent a copy of Ballin' to Coindesk asking them to feature the song. More emails couldn't hurt  Wink

Mintcoin is perfect just the way it is, as MC Lars explains brilliantly in his song.

125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: July 03, 2014, 06:48:06 PM
I agree the name VertVerser definitely needs a change, that means nothing to me. I had to go to Reddit to find out what it was :

http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/29p5m7/ann_presenting_vertverser/

So VertVerser ( a way to pay with bitcoin anywhere you go) Is awesome Shocked,,....name, not so much.

Edit: Nevermind, it seems a website with the name VertVerser already exists. I've committed the name to memory so I'm all good now, lol.

I know the new wallet is  good.

The new wallet need to synchronize from zero.

But suppose all of us update to the new wallet, the terrible things will happen!
If all of us use the new wallet at the same time, all the coins will be lost!
Although it is not possible to update at the same time, I will not use the new wallet now for safe reason.
I will use the new wallet several days later, after the new wallet users have finished synchronization data from old wallet users.
Otherwise the blockchain crisis.

It's fine. Everything will be alright, good god man.

Why so few coins? 7 billion people, let's make 2 million coins.

Edit: I like everything else about the coin.

How do I solo mine? I've typed start_mining and I get a hashrate, but I don't know what it's mining because when I disconnect the internet it carries on anyway. Can someone help me out here? Many thanks!

Can anyone help me with this? I know that solo mining at this point would be extremely difficult, I just want to know how to do it and try it out one time. Please!
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 20, 2014, 05:20:42 PM
I'm an expert by no means whatsoever. That said, here's my 2 cents on Monero and why it will succeed: It isn't an altcoin! Monero and other cryptonote currencies are not bitcoin forks, they are a completely new, untraceable currency. That's it! Truly an alternative to bitcoin, not just a fork of bitcoin. Even a dummy( me ) can understand the potential.

As promised the new wallet version is out today. And as always I'll update you with the latest news from the devs.

--Update is not mandatory--

-- Mac will be released later tonight, I'm going to get the mac right now to build the compile--

Let's start by talking about this update.

We listened to all you had to say and tried our best to improve the current wallet and solve all the current bugs and glitches.

*Lot's of UI improvements, fonts more readable, visual glitches solved ui parts finished. Also a few network bugs were solved.
*An unlock button right in your Dashboard, just beside the stacking tutorial for new comers.
*A whole new Market Data tab with MintPal, Bittrex and Cryptsy integrated. You asked for Mintpal and an overview panel, you got it Smiley. This is in prevision of the next update built-in exchanger, I'll talk about that later in this post.
*A few IRC bugs solved, as you may have noticed the client was still in construction. No more points instead of spaces and a much better response time.
*And yes we also integrated the "Minimize to taskbar" button on top of the "Minimize to tray" since a lot of you complained about missing it.

Now let's talk about the roadmap.. Most of the time as you have seen in the past we prefer releasing than talking about it for days because announcing great features always bring haters, fudders, impatients and pumpers. But this time I'll let you know a bit more what the current plans are and what the future holds for Silkcoin.

Next Update :

Will be in ~10 days, we will integrate the exchange feature into the market tab and a trading bot is coming but it's not 100% sure it will be included in the next release with trading.
Due to a big community demand games will be integrated in the wallet, at first it will be a simple betting game but we plan to expand this area in the future.
Also a big rework is being done on the IRC tab. After the next update we'll start to have a decent wallet  Wink.

The eco-system :

The release of the white paper is still planned for the end of the week so I will not talk a lot about it this time. If everything goes well we will start the beta phase about 2 weeks after the white paper, the beta should not last for long as the system is already very solid and we're constantly running tests.

For those of you who were criticizing the lack of information, I will still give you the same arguments : we started Silkcoin without talking about the eco-system and did not want to unveil it so soon because we knew without a white paper it would attract fudders & paranoļa. Also a lot of "secrets" are present in this white paper, we want to make sure we're advanced enough on the development side before making it public. But I reassure you, it's not quite finished I'm not making you wait Wink.

Anyway it's been 1 month and 8 days, judge by what you seen. We're at the 5th update and our community is growing stronger everyday, the wallet is now far away from the others and even if you look at our clones they can't even hold the speed of our updates or worse can't even copy our existing features.

Dev Roadmap:

Here is the order of priority and how the most important events of silkcoin are supposed to happen in the next 30 days:

- First the release of the White Paper Friday.
- Followed by a big update including the built-in exchanger and first game
- Private beta for the eco-system will begin
- Then we'll launch the Multi-pool, we're already talking with a few pool managers who are interested in working with us, but we haven't decided yet; We may build it ourself.
- The launch of the Eco-system with social features and decentralized exchanger. For now this is planned in ~1 month, it can be faster but it can also be delayed.
- The launch of the decentralized marketplace, yes we reconsidered it and we will launch the marketplace with a trust system we'll explain later.

The rest of the roadmap is still uncertain regarding timeframes but will include for sure :

- 2FA authentification, our devs have already started the work on double signatures this is not going to be a very long dev so it may come as a surprise feature Wink.
- Blockchain games in the wallet, followed by network games (all betting games, first game will be introduced next release).
- Anon, I would prefer not to talk a lot about it but we've been working for quite a long time now on Zerocoin implementation, it's not finished at all but yet shows promise since we thought it would've been impossible to integrate but we got back on it and found some interesting solutions.. We find most of the other alternatives (the one we can apply like darksend) not interesting.
Once again most of the time I prefer avoiding the subject because it atracts and feeds fudders and also because this is not the main feature, the eco-system is.
- A few other functions for the eco-system we currently looking what we could do without bloating the blockchain. You'll understand soon why we have endless possibilities when you read the white paper Smiley.

Well now you know what to expect.

Enjoy the new version, enjoy Silkcoin and good trades to you !

See you Friday for the white paper  Cool

Ps : I'm updating all links with the new wallet

I feel that at least the picture of the wallet should be in the OP, this is hard to find for someone who just heard about Silk.

Is http://duck.extremepool.org/ working alright? Shows the pool has twice the total hash of the whole network.

Is there a stable GUI wallet for XMR? BBR has a decent one.

The pool stats are off but the payouts are correct.

Dev mentions a simple GUI wrapper coming soon a few pages back.
Stats are reporting

Noticed that right after I posted  Embarrassed Thanks

Last week i remember some one talking about unlimited advertising for mint was this for real or just someone trolling and if it is real when will this be implemented?
I dont think it was trolling since it was the dev who said it (correct me if im wrong..)

It was the dev who said it, but I don't know what he meant or if that will be the big announcement. Also, not sure if his idea of unlimited advertising would be the same as mine. I think people should temper their expectations of the "big news." It may just be news.

...
Yeah that would be...interesting. Or dinaro. Diner is a palce you eat at, while dinar is a recognized name.
...

The dinar is called dinaro in Italian, in Greek it's almost the same (dinario - δηνάριο). The dinar is a fiat currency used in 9 countries.

Personally, I'm fine with duckNotes.

Not to mention it sounds to familiar with Monero. This in turn cold be bad.

Dinaro\Dinero may sound familiar to Monero, but they are also real words. Dinaro- Italian, is a monetary unit\Dinero- Spanish, means money.

Dinero is commonly used as slang for money in the U.S. and is the one I prefer. XDN ticker would work with either one. It seems most people here are fine with duckNotes.

I just brought up a name change because I can't really see something called a duckNote becoming a commonly used currency. For those who would argue Dogecoin, I can only say that I think Doge is dying. DuckNote also seems like a silly name for a currency that could be taken seriously. These are just my opinions, and I respect whatever the developer decides. This really is his coin to do with what he wants.

Unrelated question- Is there something wrong with the network? According to extremepool there hasn't been a block in 7 hours.

How about changing the name to dinero?

Linux Mint is now accepting donations in MintCoin!

http://www.linuxmint.com/donors.php

Great! Linux mint is a very popular linux OS. Just donated some MINT.

HA! That's really cool! Sly way to get more developers interested in the coin too  Wink
