nope, its probably the owners cashing out.
it actually makes much sense.

It makes sense to have a url of mintbay.net loading a blackcoin page. Yea, sure it does.

Edit: Some of the other coin threads creep me out for real. I'm just gonna stick with Mint and our sane community.
You summed it up much better than I could. We have a sane community. Of course one part of this is that the price is low, but I expect the community will remain sane even when the price will rise.

I really like this community. It's friendly in the same vein as Doge, and we have an important cause that we stand for   http://mintcoinfund.org/

The spirit of this community will grow stronger as the price rises, and I'm looking forward to the days ahead.

I know I shouldn't talk about BC but this is worth mentioning. IE just admitted to purposely driving the price of WC down, and attempting to extort the WC devs to get him to stop. He also alludes to possibly having done the same thing with the price of Mint. I'd just like to say, I am glad this community has never resorted to this type of "business tactic"- which would likely be criminal in the real world- and that it is impressive if this is where Mint stands after having been targeted by this type of market manipulation.

JUST 15 MILLIONS COINS LEFT

True Story

Earlier today I was contacted by Slaxt via PM. He said he wanted to discuss something with me and he asked me to keep whatever we discussed private. I agreed and he asked if I would go on Skype because he didn't want to discuss via PM. I kindly declined and told him he can email me if he requires privacy. After some back and forth he claimed he was contracted by the WC dev team to negotiate a "truce". They basically want me to stop driving their sh!t coin into the ground. To make a long story short I told him if he wanted a "truce" the devs will have to give a 3.8 BTC or 500,000 WC peace offering to the BC community. Of course I didn't get a reply and a few minutes later they broke their word and discussed our "negotiations" openly. Now the price is 10,000,000 WC for wasting my time. Let this be a warning to other developers looking to clone BC and blatantly steal from this community. If you blatantly copy BC and our model you will either have to donate to this community or I will personally make sure you end up like MintCoin. If you want to create a coin that is perfectly fine, but do not do it at this community expense!!!

A guy who calls himself IconicExpert claims he alone has the power to destroy a coin....imagine that. It looks like Whitecoin set a trap for him, and he fell into it and now he's trying to get ahead of the story.

Edit: Some of the other coin threads creep me out for real. I'm just gonna stick with Mint and our sane community.

Anybody interested in taking over reddit tipbot? Quote from tipbot developer:

Hi there, i am the guy operating the bot. Yes its still active, and yes it dies sometimes. I get an email usually if this happens and react as fast as possible. Mostly people wont even notice it, sometimes it was down for a few hours.
I dont have the time i wanted to to spread the word, but i am happy if you guys do Smiley Also if someone feels that he could do it better, by doing more advertisment and whatever i would be ok with giving the bot out to a motivated user.
Inb4 it wont bring you money Wink

The tipbot works, but it would be best if one of our community could fine tune it. In the meantime, feel free to throw some Mint around reddit users  Wink

http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/comments/23ft4y/is_our_tipbot_still_working/

I think reddit should be a top priority. With that being said, the tip pot is probably the best option to promote the coin to the entire crypto community there.
I think that mint needs some one to that, well lets say professionally, i mean some one that really knows how reddit works and that can really well push the right buttons there.
If there is some one that would like to do that i would be ready to give a nice donation, i guess if this person is doing a GREAT job, there will be more people that will like to donate.
Well this were my 2 satoshi on this matter Smiley

I think that's a good idea. I would throw some mint at the proposal. We need someone with a lot of "Karma"...a long time Reddit user to start tipping some Mint.

Of course, this doesn't mean people can't tip on their own. Doge community tips like crazy and they have over 75000 subscribers on their subreddit  Shocked Doge was my first crypto purchase because of this. I knew what Dogecoin was before I knew what Bitcoin was, no kidding.  Even if Mint gets to 10000 subscribers I think our low satoshi days would be over.

5 year old macbook (not pro). It is old but it can't be that bad. Mavericks. Need more information?
It's not about staking. Just the start up. The green small loading window. A friend of mine with a MacBook pro is having the same problems. I can post Screenshots if you need

Someone had a similar problem. See if post below works for you. (click reddit link)

Someone with a Mac, help this guy on reddit out... he can't get his wallet to work.

http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/comments/23qzhd/possible_dumb_question_here/

Yes! Im the guy on reddit whose wallet wont work! For the last week ive been trying to download the mintcoin wallet. every time i try to open it, it just "quits unexpectedly" no error number i can look up, nothing. Ive got plenty of free space on my mac, and ive downloaded multiple wallets for other coins so i dont know what the deal is. But for the last week Ive downloaded it, tried it, deleted it, and tried again. Do that a few times then try again the next day to the same result. ive scoured google for an answer to no avail. im at my wits end here. Any thoughts on what the problem could be?

I answered and provided my upload link for you. Overwrite your original .app and you should be good to go.  Smiley

"mintcoinFund was conceived on 29 April 1961, under the name of World Wildlife Fund"

http://mintcoinfund.org/about/

Huh  This page makes it sound like WWF changed its name to mintcoinFund.  Are there English translation bugs in the website?  Is the text on the website just a placeholder, copied from WWF?  If so, I'm a little worried about copyright and trademark infringement.

It must be a placeholder:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wide_Fund_for_Nature#History

It might be better to replace the History part of the website with the words, "coming soon".

Also, might want to update the information. Site still says mintcoin is a PoW\PoS coin. Sorry to sound so critical, I really appreciate all the efforts going on. The site looks great, just needs some updates. I'm not sure David was ready\planned to unveil it yet.

Ya, If everyone could report fraud donation addresses rather than replying 100x to the scammer who posted them,...

That'd be great.

I think we should focus on making Mintcoin stronger. Accentuate our positives while furthering development. Why should we be chasing down start ups asking them to add our coin? It should be the other way around. Coinkite is a start up. https://bitpay.com/ is the current industry standard.

As I mentioned before, Vault of Satoshi is used by bitcoin atms for exchange purposes. If Mintcoin becomes popular enough, there is a possibility people will be able to access Mintcoin through atm in the future.
100% agree!

What can we do to help market the coin?

i think charity is what we can do, no matter what kind of charity is it, everyone could find that.
coinkite will refund the mint if the project wont be finished, and i think android wallet is more important than coinkite!
I agree with the charity idea and brought it up very early in the first few weeks of this coin.  Wink

I think charity is great, but right now we need to raise the price. To do that we need more buyers. To get more buyers we need to raise awareness. To raise awareness we need to tell people about Mint.

People are more likely to look at Mint if we give them some:  http://www.reddit.com/r/MintTip/

The doge community is huge, I suggest we start there. I really have to go now, wish I could stay but I'll be back Monday.

Does bitpay offer any other options besides bitcoin?

Not to my knowledge. They already have 20,000 merchants however, contrasted with coinkite who has less merchants than Mintcoin! Yep, we have more merchants than coinkite.  Grin

Like I said, accentuate the positive. We don't need to tie ourselves to shady pay to play start ups, then hype them up like they are the Visa of the crypto world. Let's stop talking about what other coins are doing and remind people about what we have ALREADY done.

I want to remind people that we are one of the few coins listed on Vault of Satoshi, an exchange with a full money service business license in Canada. VOS has a fairly low volume right now, but looking at their developments and recently announced affiliates program that won't be the case for long:    http://affiliates.vaultofsatoshi.com/affiliates/

VOS also is one of 2 exchanges used by Robocoin atm.  http://www.foxbusiness.com/personal-finance/2014/04/08/first-bitcoin-atm-unveiled-on-capitol-hill/

Being listed on VOS is a great angle for us to bring in people new to crypto, and we should be playing it up. It may be more helpful to differentiate ourselves from clone coins rather than chasing them because they currently have a higher market cap. We should be growing along with VOS over the next few months, but this won't happen if we have our attention focused on the competition and false hype. Mintcoin doesn't need false hype. Mint has a lot going for it, however the community seems to be forgetting that currently.

Anyone who can currently trade Mintcoin on VOS should be doing so.

Mintcoin, the first coin with a proof of work to proof of stake blueprint was launched Feb. 6th 2014.

-Mintcoin already has 45 merchants
-We are listed on all major alt coin exchanges, AND Bitcoin exchange Vault of Satoshi
-Coin control in latest wallet
-Android coming soon
-Foundation in place
-Pays 20% interest 1st year, 15% 2nd, 10%, and then 5% per year until cap of 70 Billion. Get paid every 20 days   Smiley

So get on board before the first year is up!

Seems to have gone a little quiet with the marketing side of things.

Anyone care to update how things are traveling with Merchants, plans etc?

It's hard watching others fly, when MINT has so much to offer. I realise long term is the big goal, but would be nice to see some action.

Not anymore. Something is going on. Huge buys just happened. At sell prices... Someone is digging into this coin quick and buying up.

My question is what don't I know. Not a typical pump tactic to buy at current levels... So is something about to happen that will spike this coin?

Shhhh....

Do we know why the block explorer stopped working to begin with? Was it something related to the update, or to the people who haven't updated yet which are causing us all to get occasional blips that our wallet is trying to synch ~8-10k blocks?

Block explorer has only been down for a day. It says no connection on the page, my wallet runs fine so I'm assuming the site operator lost internet for one reason or another.

Please feel free to provide constructive criticism or point out any grammar spelling errors. If you feel it's ready to go then copy paste that baby and fire it off to cavirtex.

The introduction sounds corny "Please add Mintcoin to your prestigious, distinguished, world renowned exchange."
Better with "Please consider adding Mintcoin to your exchange".

I think the phrase "the daddy of them all" sound unprofessional. Maybe rephrase to "one of the first PoS coins fully implemented"

Ya, I was going for a bit of a humorous tone. I feel you right though I'm going to edit the original post.

Edit: I changed daddy to father. It's true that Mintcoin is the father as it was launched on feb. 6th. Please remember this is just a template, feel free to change it up if you like and make it your own. I just want to make it easier the community to get a letter.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin V1.8, Energy Saving Coin *27 Exchanges *44 Merchants on: April 14, 2014, 07:06:16 PM
If you guys can think of any Canadian charities or non-profits, please email them and ask them to accept donations of Mintcoin.

We have a bargaining angle, they get free money and more of it and can cash out through Vault of Satoshi.

We also need to get cavirtex.com on board

Email admin@cavirtex.com and ask them to trade Mintcoin. Do this to help out, we need more volume of emails. Once they see a lot of people are interested, they will want to get onboard. This will help Mintcoin immensely.

Come on community, we can count on you.

How's this for a letter?

Dear Admin,

Please consider adding Mintcoin to your exchange.

The recent rise involving proof of work to pure proof of stake coins is a clear indication that Mintcoin, the father of them all should be your first choice consideration.

In addition to being the first coin of its kind, Mintcoin also boasts the following:

-Widespread merchant adoption, 44 and counting

-Hard working developers who have added coin control to the wallet, and QR support for the upcoming Android app(in development)

-Interest paid to holders. A unique distribution method that awards early adopters without leaving those late to the party behind:

To be paid out annually at 20 day intervals

20% First year
15% Second year
10% Third year
5%  All subsequent years until 70 billion coin cap is reached

Thanks for your consideration,

Mintcoin Holders of the World

shhhhhh now everyone is going to unload, just let it run up quietly before the panicky types can crush the support with their sells...

I see the sell volumes are quite high, but no matter, it's better for distribution, and it will be better long-term.

Short-term, we can see pumps up to 50-60 satoshis. Long-term value entails reaching prices of 3,000-6,000 satoshis.

hmmm with 94 Million mint, that would make me able to tell my boss to ........

Have a nice day?

IMO, BC is giving all the new POS coins a good look, with the price so high, people are looking for the undervalued POS coins right now ... Mintcoin is definitely one of them.

I totally agree, same reason I bought into MINT yesterday, the price was very good 16 satoshi Smiley

with all the proceeding projects, i believe MINT has a long way to go.

as to the price, i thing MINT is a qualified successor and alternative to Doge!

Well we certainly have a friendly community such as Doge.
