First let me say i am not a tech person at all. However the steps below worked for me.

I checked the .conf file in the new wallet and it contains different nodes from those listed elsewhere on the thread.

If you are updating now you will have to do a clean install. That means backup your wallet.dat to a safe location, and delete everything mintcoin. When you get the new wallet, place your back up in the appdata folder and launch.

There is a .conf file in the new wallet, don't use unofficial sources for your wallet : http://mintcoin.cc/download-wallet/

Edit: To find your appdata folder- Click Windows button on left bottom of screen and put this in search box: %APPDATA%/MintCoin

Notes- You will find Mintcoin files in your download folder and your appdata folder. If you delete everything EXCEPT wallet.dat you will be able to do a clean install.

-Future versions shouldn't require these extra steps. This is a result of going from hybrid PoW\PoS to pure PoS

NEW WALLET HAS COIN CONTROL!

In wallet choose settings-->options-->display-->mark "display coin control features"

Click OK. You will see CCF on Send tab now.

If you want to send only the newest coins do the following:

1. Open "inputs"
2. Choose list mode
3. Click on conformations twice to sort by lowest amount of conformations first.
4. Select enough adresses to fulfill your required amount.
5. Click OK
6. Use sending tab as usual.

Ill give it a go and make short video about this feature soon.

Thanks Kergecoin!

If you would like, thank Kergecoin with Mint-  MrXW1RKLDe8VMNwTwLwSiKuATN5M74EL85

Don't forget we have access to the MOST PROFITABLE multipool out there: https://hashco.ws/

Just sign up and change the payout to Mint! Pool is currently over 1600 MH. Sign up now and get more Mintcoin before price blows up!

it is better to NOT pump the price up higher and beyond MINT's infrastructure can support. We need to keep adding merchants and keep adding services. If the price is low right now it is not necessarily bad. The good thing I see is that MINT has already endured a bear market, and is now basically "flat-lining" and establishing a Solid Floor. Once the momentum starts to turn to the upside, it could really take off again. There really is very little holding MINT down right now. Just be glad Mintcoin is very undervalued right now, and take the time to establish life-long positions. This is the time to be telling your friends and family, to get a good hold in early. I am beginning to sense that the majority of the Mintcoin holders now are long-term investors and that it is only up from here, but will still take time. Mintcoin is likely to be a coin for more mature, calculating investor types.

My gut feel is that there will be a point in the future where MINT will explode in price. That point in time is not far from now and it won't go down from that point. The value will eventually catch up with the infrastructure and this will cause the price to skyrocket.

This 100%.

Just look at the last few pages to see all Mint has going for itself.

-All security concerns were immediately addressed.
-Coin control added
-QR support added
-Android wallet on the way
-Vault of Satoshi on the way
-Foundation started
-20% Annual gain on coins held, minted at 20 day intervals

I only wish I had more cash to invest, Mint is definitely set to EXPLODE

Those who are experiencing syncing issues...Did you get all the addnodes updated correctly? The announcement post on page 1 has information on how to do this.

Are you sure this is necessary? I'm pretty sure Kergecoin said the .conf file is included in the new wallet.

My wallet works fine. What I did was save my wallet.dat, then I deleted EVERY Mintcoin file on my computer like it never existed.

-I then downloaded the new wallet.
-I opened it until it showed the wallet, then immediately closed it.
-then I replaced the wallet.dat with my saved wallet.dat and downloaded the new blockchain.  See post below.

Everyone reading, please consider contacting

1) BTC-e.com I love this exchange. It would be great if they got MINT on it.

2) It would be good to get MINT/$USD at Cryptsy as well, so feel free to email them.

3) Also, Canada's largest and best exchange, CaVirtEx, would really benefit from getting MINT. Be sure to email admin@cavirtex.com to ask them to accept MIN.

I'll fire off some email tonight  Smiley

The bug affects every coin and exchange out there and ANYTHING that uses OpenSSL. Let's not panic like this is only Mintcoin's problem.

I'm sure the dev will fix it as BitcoinFX said. Mintpal and Cryptsy have already updated their exchanges.

Yes. Indeed. I didn't intend to appear negative. This effects almost all OpenSSL related software...

"Scramble to fix huge 'heartbleed' security bug" - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26935905

I've supported Mintcoin from the start, well from around the 2nd week in anyway.  Smiley

Thanks for the heads up. I'm aware of your support, thank you.

Why would integrating a wallet feature create a hard fork? Wallet Control is not part of the algorithm of the coin. HBN was not hard forked for the wallet feature, Tranz added wallet control to newer HBN wallets. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Kergekoin?

Correct. Bitcoin 0.9 also has coin control now. From merge requests i can not see anything which would require hard forking.

Nice! So are you going to do it? I think the community and dev would embrace.

I just finished it and made pull request. It works just beautifully with my Windows wallet, but likely some testing is needed for linux and mac.

If you want to use it before officially confirmed:

Default disclaimer: Im not responsible if you damage your wallet.dat with it. Please be sure you have a backup before overwriting!

Awesome! I'm gonna use it on my test computer! Thanks  Smiley  Edit-Test wallet...I don't have a test computer, lol

I always find it easier to get an answer to a question on the Reddit subforum:  http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/

A lot less noise, and many questions have already been answered. Check it out.

IMPORTANT - were we supposed to delete the blockchain files or just the files in the QT folder when upgrading to 1.7? Getting conflicting answers here... Please advise

+1. Does the .conf need to be edited? I'm a bit confused about the adding nodes part, myself. I haven't added any additional nodes and I've been minting fine.

I didn't add nodes either...doing fine. If people want to add nodes they can find them here:  http://www.reddit.com/r/MintCoin/comments/22awns/please_upgrade_to_17_asap/

Indeed, I am not looking for a hype or comparison. I just try to explain (or understand) what is going on currently. And I am worried, because I have the fear that, due to the high speed of cryptoworld, many coins will be left behind. I would really hate to see that for MINT because it does not worth it. So, I think that we need fresh ideas, to bring new investors in. These sell walls should be broken and I would say, should be broken soon. And I am not worried so much about the price, I am actually worried about the really low volume. This indicates low interest to me. Let's hope that I am wrong.

There is quite a bit going on behind the scenes with Mintcoin, but to start posting about such things prior to having all the i's dotted and t's crossed would be premature.

The markets and the "Low Volume" is just the way the altcoin world works and there is nothing that anyone can do about that. Unless you hold and control 250BTC and are willing to "Gamble" with them, the sell walls will remain. I myself buy on average 70K Mint a day others are buying as well. The good thing to realize, is that the price is extremely stable compared to a lot of other coins out there.

We have to remember that the vast majority of people involved in the altcoin world, are coin miners, some with thousands upon thousands of dollars invested into mining rigs. These people are not interested in whether a coin lasts more than the time it takes them to turn a profit on it. To make an altcoin succeed to the point where it is accepted as a true  alternative currency will take time and effort, not only from the Developer, but the community as a whole. We have seen this with Dogecoin and their community, as well as Bitcoin and theirs.

I know a lot of people detest Facebook, but it would help a lot to "Like" the Facebook page, as well as the Google+ page and the Reddit page, and join the Mintcoin Talk forum. This all helps to build the community as when others stop by the Facebook page and see that there are thousands of members, it is human nature to want to be a part of that. This is how Dogecoin got to be as big as they are now, one major publicity indecent when they helped to send the Jamaican Bobsled team to Soshi was all it took.
