Update on the potential security issues mentioned earlier. As a cautionary measure and since MINT does not really need PoW, we have decided to get rid of the PoW. We don't want to take any security risk. And since our ego is less important than your hard earned money, we won't have any problem to be thankful to another coin dev if it appears he has helped to increase MintCoin's security. For now, a new wallet is available and this is a mandatory update! https://mega.co.nz/#!YI4DETrC!0Cy_PFqWkLF52Ic_Hoo-5v_oyUGWa2R4dcIvlX1S2H0 +1 Let's stay off Blackcoin's thread unless we have something nice to say.

this is already happening a lot.
hackability and exploitability of any coin is bad.
thats why something new, radical, will be invented one day to replace this all.
Do you ever have a positive thought?

Cool man! Also, this whole thing should be good for mint. Some large holders dumped a lot of coin, distributing it into the hands of smaller holders.

Join the 51% attack! Some will be disappointed that it's not what they thought: it's a new merchant accepting your MintCoins! really? I'm not laughing. Im a MINT fan always has been. i have 1 post in bc thread. i think the top people of MINT should be professal and address concerns to the commuinty. it would be nice to hear from a mint dev. not, were looking into. a simple. people please dont panic we see an issue and heres what were working on. por, a dev saying we looked at it and found nothing to worry about, but we have looking futher into this and make 100% were right Relax, the guy is a jokester, but not an idiot. If something needs fixed it will be fixed.

So, MINT is kinda weak right now and it's probably a good time to strike. Hypothetically, let's say a whale with a lot of MINT and BTC wanted to destroy MINT, what would he have to do? I don't think it is as simple as just dumping MINT into the ground, is it? If the whale were to buy up some BC, then dump on MINT, would that mean the MINT bagholders will drop their holdings and maybe move into BC, thereby pushing BC to the moon? I'm getting the feeling that BC is superior to MINT because we have a better community and better dev, rat4, who looks for problems to fix, whether it benefits BC or not.
"who looks for problems to fix, whether it benefits BC or not." I think he was expecting, or at least many within the BC community were hoping, that exposing this would have driven BC up. Why is BC being dumped right now? Something we don't know about? BC went up in price. 24 hour volume reached 7,405 satoshis. It has only dropped a little, by about 14%. MINT has dropped by about 25%. Is this security issue with hybrids gonna be a problem? Have you turned into a troll? Do you like Bon Jovi too much? MINT stagnates too much. It drops and stays. BC has gone up more so with less stagnation. Leave Bon Jovi out of this. Bon Jovi. Jk. You are welcome to your opinion.

Join the 51% attack! Some will be disappointed that it's not what they thought: it's a new merchant accepting your MintCoins! LOL Our dev is a mysterious fellow, but if he ain't worried I ain't worried. I think he probably knows more about the coin than a rival dev.

I've just noticed something while going over the block chain. First of all, the attack was really just from 203231 to 203405 before it started to be interrupted by even more PoS blocks: http://mintcoin-explorer.info/chain/MintCoin?hi=203233&count=50http://mintcoin-explorer.info/chain/MintCoin?hi=203433&count=50Secondly, even within this period, there are still some PoS blocks that occur: https://i.imgur.com/LydCerH.pngMost importantly of all. Through the ENTIRE attack period, not a single transaction was confirmed by one of the PoW blocks (aside from the PoW blocks producing their 1 MINT). The only transaction confirmations were done by the few PoS blocks which interrupted. How is this possible? There are way, way more PoW blocks, but none of them confirmed transactions over an entire hour? Is that because PoW blocks cannot confirm transaction during this "attack"? If so, then this "attack" cannot be used to double spend or do any real damage. Right? So it's even worse than we thought. The entire network was frozen with no confirmations, and that was only carried out by the first stage of the attack. Game over. No it's even better than we thought! If you investigate the block chain and understand how POW/POS works you will realize that Mintcoin has just survived the worst possible attack possible. Mintcoin is anti-fragile even more so than bitcoin. If you don't understand what anti-fragile means then I wouldn't trust any FUD that your smearing with a grain of salt. Choppy, can you explain this? Saying something is "anti-fragile" isn't the same as writing a technical explanation as to why, and will only invite further attacks.

How about we all just chill out and wait a little longer for a response from the dev and stop speculating.
They've already responded. I know, and they said they were looking into it/working on it. My point to everybody is, lets be patient and wait for the next update. They said they would look into if it becomes an issue, actually All I know is that the time for all this talk is over. they say they can kill the coin. I'll believe it when I see it. until then, well, talk is cheap. Believe me, if they could kill MINT they would have. They can't do it so they are left with trolling. There is probably validity to your statement Mg. Soepkip and others post on this thread and say they are trying to help. However if one looks at the posts outside of this thread, you will see them openly mocking Mint. Still, I think we should just ignore them while our dev takes a look and makes a statement. Having Paspi look into it is a big plus too as he has already fixed a minor bug for our community.

Due to unexchanged coins being held for better profit, you can't just mine for 24hrs @ hashcows and claim the payout figure - you have to mine for a few days to get a proper figure. http://poolpicker.eu/text.phpAs you can see, Hashcows is #2 in terms of profitability atm, only slightly shy of CoinFu. If you have the time & energy to mine altcoins and sell them yourself, you can make better profit - but not everyone has the time or the expertise to do so, multipools are much easier to set & forget. If I was to manually mine & sell altcoins I'd probably make less than straight LTC mining - I'd probably also lose my day time job I'm getting ~60,000-70,000 Mintcoins per day with 2.2mh/s.Ugh, I wish I had some mining equipment. At least I can Mint!

So i've had about 48 hours on hashco.ws, seems like 20000 coins per 1mhs which even if we would get 20sat for them is only 0.004. Is the payout usually that poor?
It would be good for people to post their payouts. How much do you make if you mine on your own? Well you would hope to get something similar to the multipools, which these days is about 0.0065 - 0005 http://poolpicker.eu/I wonder if there isn't just some layover that you haven't been paid yet. Try to give it 5 days or so. Remember that the more people that mine, the bigger the buy. This helps drive up the price of Mint making it more valuable for everyone. You might win one of the 3 prizes too.
