Maybe you should check which altcoins the Palm Beach Group recommend and also check the progress these altcoins made in 2018 and going to make in 2019.
Which means you will have to put some work into it / do some research, so you dont end up blindly investing in something.

Keywords to focus on :

roadmap
use cases
vision
progress
financial sustainability (can its dev team survice and operate in strong bear markets?)

Interesting site to compare crypto currencies : https://messari.io/onchainfx
(actually you can compare pretty much anything crypto-related in there, including number of active addresses, number of transactions, number of payments)

Why Do We Really Need Women in Blockchain?

In a recent podcast, the subject of increasing participation levels of women in blockchain came up, a goal for which I expressed enthusiastic support. However, I received some comments pushing back against this idea. It seems as though not everyone is completely sold on the idea of explicitly targeting the female demographic for inclusion into the cryptoverse. As such, I might as well explain more thoroughly why I think we need women in blockchain.

I don't think blockchain tech is only for specific gender than why we specially tag this with any gender? This is very confusing article from my point of view. It is against the nature of blockchain which allows everyone to use this without any restriction and limit.

Just take a look at the comments in this budget proposal, which has the goal to promote Dash with focusing on women as consumers and potential Dash users : https://www.dashcentral.org/p/women_in_dash

This indicates to me that Dash (and other cryptoprojects, as the women-unfriendly sentiment found in those comments are pretty much echoed throughout the cryptoscene) is currently not gender neutral and
that Dash is missing out on reaching a very large demographic targetgroup.

In any advertising / marketing campaign its pretty normal to focus on a specific gender or specific age group in order to reach a specified target population, even in election voting campaigns that is the case.
These advertising / marketing campaigns are not seen as starting some kind of new feminist wave or advancing certain age groups, they are just ment to reach their intended target group more effectively and are regnoniced as such.

Maybe its time that Dash does the same, in order to increase its number of users and increase its usage.

The easiest way to generate new users is to offer a great deal of utility. People should use Dash because they want and need it.

At some point utility needs to be marketed and advertised in order to reach new users. A product can have all the utility of the world, but if that world is unaware (and remains unaware) of this utility then that product will never reach mainstream adoption.
Dash will have a product once Dash Evolution comes out, after which some thought should really be put into the marketing / advertising aspect : who are our target groups ? what is our overall marketing strategy ? How do we sell Dash to non-tech users ?
How do we sell Dash to women ? How do we sell Dash to certain age groups ? How do we keep Dash connected to tech-interested men ? All these aspects require different marketing / advertising strategies.

Take for example HTC, a mobile phone builder who became a market leader when it designed one of the first Android smartphones adding refinement to Google's new mobile operating system back in those early days.
Its current products still possess the utility aspect, but due to a lack of consistent marketing / advertising HTC descended pretty much to non-existence.

This is true that KFC in Venezuela going to accept Dash as payment? I read this news some time ago... And if this true, when they will started accept Dash?

This is the last i heard about it : https://cointelegraph.com/news/churchs-chicken-starts-accepting-dash-in-venezuela-after-kfc-confusion

Quote
On Dec. 7, PR and media director at DashNews Mark Mason posted a tweet stating that KFC Venezuela would start accepting Dash payments the following week.

Later KFC Venezuela denied the news, stating that processing payments with Dash “is not a fact, nor has the publication of any news about it been authorized.”

Shortly after, Dash Merchant Venezuela posted a public apology on its Twitter account. It said that the statement was premature and reflected optimism rather than the current stage of discussions with KFC Venezuela.
However, both Dash and KFC confirmed that they are in negotiations regarding the possibility of crypto payments.

Please link what is Petro Dollar here, because it's very hard to search what it is. Also, I don't watch the Simpsons, but hoping that show predicted crypto's gonna go up soon Smiley

1870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If Petro-Dollar falls, what will happen to Crypto currencies ? on: December 26, 2018, 12:03:02 PM
I think crypto will be fine, because as long as I monitor crypto the dollar doesn't have a big boost on crypto price movements.

Yeah i agree, i dont think the replacement of the Petro Dollar (USD mostly) by another FIAT currency (Yuan for example) will have a huge impact.
There are already several crypto pairs to FIAT (BTC-EURO / BTC-YUAN / BTC-JPY / BTC-KRW) in place (same with altcoins).
It will just be that the USD will loose it dominance in the world, which is not necessarily a bad thing for the world.
Specially with the huge debt figure attached to the USD ($21.8 trillion in debt), without any signs of an attempt to even control that or bring it down.

Link : http://www.usdebtclock.org/

I do wonder if stablecoins could end up getting used more then FIAT in the long run, specially if a central bank were to issue one.
There is already a move towards cashless society's, so that would fit nicely.

1871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If Petro-Dollar falls, what will happen to Crypto currencies ? on: December 26, 2018, 11:56:11 AM
Interesting post) If Petro falls, then nothing will happen to the cryptocurrency market. Petro is an interesting experiment in creating a digital currency and I am sure that other countries will soon follow this path and create their own digital currencies. In the coming years, nothing bad will happen to Petro, this experiment has just begun and the most interesting is yet to come.

Please look at the post above you to see what OP means with Petro Dollar.

1873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your take on masternode coins? on: December 24, 2018, 04:47:24 PM
I think the space has out live Masternode coins, the issue with them is that the first year is very profitable to investors but as more tokens enter the space the value get diluted and the profit margin shrinks, I have seen tis with Dash and most of the first coins to implement Masternodes on their chain, just look into these projects well before investing

At some point (like with all crypto projects) hype will be replaced by actual usability. If a cryptoproject lacks usability then investors will disappear at some point.
This will be even stronger the case when institutional investors arrive in the market, who will be investing for a long period of time and are looking for very clear use cases.

For Dash the use case is very simple : form a decentralized peer-to-peer network that can provide fast transactions, protect against double spending and with very low transaction costs.
All setup in a way that non-tech users can easily understand and use and supported through Dash decentralized governance and budget system. As a bonus Dash also provides optional
privacy on its transactions.

This use case has been proven successfull in several countries already (particularly in Venezuela).
Other (future) use cases for Dash are :

* Providing a solution to the physical cash dependency problem in the Cannabis industry (Dash has partnered up with Alt36 to tackle this)
* Developing services (dAPPS) once Dash Evolution hits Mainnet somewhere in 2019 (Dash will be much more like a decentralized platform then, where additional services can easily connect to)
* Forming a decentralized marketplace for academic peer review
* Storage of academic research (metadata) directly on the Dash blockchain through Dash Evolution

1874  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's your take on masternode coins? on: December 24, 2018, 03:53:05 PM
i have never liked them. the idea of masternode is a terrible one and is basically leading the coin towards centralization! the whole spirit of cryptocurrencies is their decentralization and the fact that you use them in a peer to peer manner not "peer to server to peer" which is the old flawed centralized solution.

not to mention that the risks that they have for those investing in them since you have to lock a large sum of money in that coin in your master node if you want to run one, and risk losing it to hacks, bugs, and on top of it all risk the price dumps to lose a huge amount of money!

With regards to how Dash implements masternodes :

Centralization accusation

Almost 5000 masternodes spread over different geographic locations : http://178.254.23.111/~pub/Dash/masternode_locations_stats.html
I would not call that centralized, i would call that decentralized. Also with Dash annual -7.1% reduction on its blockrewards for miners and masternodes, decentralization will only increase over time.
On a sidenote : in crypto pretty much all cryptocurrencies have centralized aspects, as the whole market is still in such an early adoption phase.

Locking money accusation

You dont lock a large sum of money, you put them in a cold wallet / hardware wallet so its safe from hacking/ theft and if you want to cash out you simply move those coins to an exchange.
No locking involved in any way and you remain in full control of your Dash at any time. Of course when you do move those coins to an excange, the network will not regnonice your server as a masternode anymore and you will not receive any further payments.

Peer to Server to Peer accusation

Masternodes are not different from Bitcoin's full nodes, except that owners get rewarded for their masternodes staying online 24 hours a day while providing support for its additional services like InstantSend and PrivateSend.
Which means Dash is just as peer to peer as Bitcoin, except that Dash has unlocked additional decentralized services which Dash can run on top of its first layer (miners), which Bitcoin cant.
Bitcoin tries it though through the development of its Lightning Network by implementing sidechains, but thats centralization at its best and funds in those sidechains actually will be online, vulnerable to ddos / hacking / theft and most importantly : not directly under your control.

Vulnerable to price dumps accusation

Price dumps (and pumps) happen to every cryptocurrency and to every large investor. Some Dash investors choose to cash out to FIAT, some choose to convert to a stablecoin but most masternode owners just keep their investment in masternodes, saving up their
masternode payments in a bear market and cashing them out in a bull market in a pretty much risk free way.
The continued increase in number of masternodes shows that Dash investors have a lot of trust in Dash ability to continue its development, survive bearmarkets and meet its goals, while at the same time providing the network with a very strong full nodes network.

You can get more info here: http://www.dashroadmap.org/dash-roadmap-now/

Next on the list : Dash Evolution

This will make Dash the first cryptocurrency to fully concentrate in an early stage on making its cryptocurrency easy to use and to provide access to all of its users (even those who aren’t technologically savvy).
This is a process that Dash started more then 3 years ago and its reaching completion now.

Do i dare whisper : Dash price breakout and the forming of a new longterm price trend ?  Undecided

4H Chart interval on HitBTC

Longest chart interval available for Dash (Poloniex, 1 month)

A few more months (3-4) to fully process the bearmarket and then it begins .... i have a feeling 2019 will be pretty amazing.

Is the bear market over ? No
Is the bear market getting processed ? Yes

Could take some months untill this bear market is fully processed, after which we can slowly think about a possible bullrun again.
1880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pity for those who bought at ATH on: December 18, 2018, 11:24:13 AM
The crypto world at the moment is one filled with so many levels of emotion and reactions to varying degrees of loses experienced by people. While some people are sobbing about their little loses, we should also reflect on the fact there are people who bought BTC @ $20K, Ripple @ $3, ADA @ $1.22, etc. Most of these guys are still hodling, hoping the market will bounce back and they'll recoup their loses.

Do you also feel sorry for those that bought at ATH high in 2014-2015-2016 ?
ATH is a relative term and with the deflationary aspect of most crypto projects (cap on max number of coins and diminishing number of coins in circulation) can easily get higher in years to come due to scarcity and increased demand.
Those that play the longterm game dont regard ATH as absolute.
