1442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I do mining with a normal PC? on: May 10, 2014, 03:38:26 PM
YES TRY
this way you will get the bug of mining and you will realise you need better equipment
but have to start from somewhere
Just do  it
1443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: gaw to have new miners on sat> on: May 06, 2014, 11:19:41 AM
I dont understand how they sell in the internet age on line  something without photos.
(dont rush and say yes they have photos to me they seem like photoshop images and not real thing)
(as real thing is being shown in a desk with pool settings on the side and not the same photos for all items)

I am an ebay seller as well,  and if I fail to present many photos I have lots of scammers
waiting to open an as not described case.
and we see now all the Bitcoin Litecoin related items to be sold with preorders and no photos
describing the size as pocket size...(what size is that my small pocket or big military trousers pocket)
I am not sure what is happening is there something like a drug or and we all Including me (as I was ready
to place a pre-order.......) dont see what is happening

At least the basics must be present!!!

1444  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: U2 Antminer USB Hubs on: May 04, 2014, 05:28:53 AM
Well, i have one of these on order:

http://www.ebuyer.com/279682-xenta-13-port-usb2-0-hub-mains-powered-n-uh1301

I'll let you know how it goes.

 Grin

I have taken a cheep chinese 10places hub and then a cheep flea market ATX power supply
cut the cable for 5v made the modifitacion to make it start
and now all run excellent with plenty of power.
This involves little minimal experience but its cheep and most powefull than any sold for 10 times more
1445  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: new 2x antminer s1 .... ordered still waiting... psu question on: May 02, 2014, 09:51:17 AM
not even a little over clocked?

probly just best to run stock til i get more ants?

my first rig... 2 ants s1 and 850... i didnt think it was bad for my first setup...

If you dont wish to spent much money
1) buy from ebay server type very strong PSU (small mod need to be done)
2) by two cheep computer PSU and use the 850W to run one S1 overclocked and
use the other two cheep one to power each blade separetly.
You have to open them the same time and have two plugs etc but cheeper way is cheeper way.
1446  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S1 - TWO ETHERNET PORTS? BITMAIN APRIL FOOLS JOKE? on: May 02, 2014, 09:43:24 AM
Maybe this was an early design by the time they were only selling the single board only.
Now they put two singles together...
1447  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Experience on: May 01, 2014, 08:10:44 PM
My experience started with a Jalapeno and a 60ghs single
Both stable running Jalapeno since feb 2014 up to today and single mar2014 to apr214
The single is noisy its like a hair dryer open all the time and it consumes 275 w
wish it was quite ...it like it being stable
Jalapeno needs to be run cool so a spare usb fan is poing it at it and now its been 10days whith
no reset.
Actually would be friendly with the idea of buying another jalapeno its a pity that BFL has lost her
reputation...now would not buy from them I have read so many bad stories.
1448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Just Got 2 Antminer S1 Rigs Set Up [Pictures Included] on: May 01, 2014, 07:32:14 PM
what are the average temperatures in this summer ?

Looks like you are ready for the summer!!!
1449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Setting up AntMiner S1 mini-farm in a warehouse on: May 01, 2014, 07:29:47 PM
be sure to let us know how running ants in 100 degree temps goes ??

yeah well if he is in the states  I could send him some fans because he will need them.

the deltas as a pull fan are loud but pull 160 cfm.

If he sets 1 s-1 up adds the delta   like the photos above and it overheats he could end the experiment right then and there.

here is one s-1 at 393 freq  in an 80 f room with the add-on fan.  so the stock push fan has a lot left as it can go over 3000 rpm.

the temps are good.

A common idea is to run the basic fan to maximum also.If it fails it will just stop running
and you can replace it...In warmer climate like in the mediteranean 45 is my running temp in midday
and run happy at 393mhz

1452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed GC3355 5 Chip Setup/power/windows/linux/rpi by UnicornHasher on: May 01, 2014, 04:42:34 AM
A word of a apreciation from me to all who contributed in the set up of Gridseed miner

Followed the instructions
1) downloaded BFGminer for Gridseed
2) donwloaded and installed stmp drivers
3) fixed my bat file with my settings

then I first istalled the USB cable on the computer without applying power
to the miner and saw that the computer recognised the miner and gave message your
device is ready to use.
Connected power

then run the BFG miner but will not hash..... a quick look on the bat file showed a fat fingers typo
then correction and run the BFG again...hashing since 12 hours now....

Great job thanks
1453  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Bitmain Keep on buying Antminer S1 or wait to get Antminer S2 on: April 30, 2014, 07:13:17 AM
I have now 6 antminers S1 that make more or less 1.2T
The price of S1 is like 0,50 btc when the S2 with coupons from Bitmain is 4,7-4,8 if am not wrong.
What I was thinking is to buy more S1 when funds become available from mining or just wait to
get an S2
Waiting is just loosing shares week by week but then waiting longer period to get an S2 either will be good because the price of S2 will have dropped but then again the difficulty and the total hashing will be higher
so the line is so thin that electricity is factor that will make the decetions final...
Your thoughts will be apreciated.
Same thoughts for other brand of miners off-course apply
My personal opinion is go for the waiting

1454  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: could I use a old server for mining? on: April 30, 2014, 06:29:12 AM
I have a friend working in a financial institution having access in more than 10 IBM blade servers. He runs there since Nov 2013 cpuminer later in 2014 when it became available to mine LTC and sell them for BTC he changed this now he is almost running all his machines with  multipools but IMPORTANT he has not paid for them he DOES not pay electricity to run them so the fact is that he received as at today with 100Khs about 5 USD per week free.
Who can say I dont want them Huh?

So your friend is risking his job and stealing from his employer for $20/month.  You should probably look for better friends than idiotic thieves.

Thanks for your suggestion I admire your job and the honest reply.
I must say I do not always aproove my friends actions and further I am not responsible for them
I run my miners at my personal bussiness and my home
Member of BTC-guild as well and thanks for your good efforts and job,  since we met here.
regards

1456  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2-4 hours to solve a BTC block CEX:IO?? on: April 29, 2014, 06:21:26 AM
Its not only the difficulty that changes its the hardware added all the time
feb 2014 Ghash had total hash power if I can recall about 12ph now its nearly 18
With 700gh I was taking about 150,000 shares per round...now with the same hardware
I get 89,000 .I am waiting to receive 2 S1 antminers that when added barely will make 130,000
All this time I have only but invested the BTC earned and paid the electricity and I am in the same situation.
Hard to realised this has no end as new machines new hardware new asics we cant just follow all the time
unless free electricity is present.Thinking of adding some panels to my roof at least at that time I will only care if the miners are just turned ON
Even selling the equipment will make the same initial.
As a foot note I am an ebay seller.
For nearly 2 months I accept bitcoin
I never never had so far a request to be paid in bitcoins dispite the 99,7% feedback with 700 transactions annually.
This show me that confidence in Bitcoin is still non existant
Will see
1457  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Gone dead overnight? on: April 27, 2014, 03:26:32 PM

1458  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC GUILD is the best? on: April 25, 2014, 05:29:45 PM
As already told, theres no "best".

What you can do is do compare some pools on following facts:

- Uptime
- DDOS-Protection
- Do they run custom software?
- Payout System (PPLNS,Prop...)
- Did they already payout?
- Support Speed
- How many Blocks they found
- User experience (Google for it)
- Financial Stability
- How long are they online?
- Do they successfull run any other coins?
- Security (Two factor auth)

And so on Smiley, good luck with choosing your Pool ! Smiley

+1
Plus check the two biggest pools then see the number of shares you get in a give period of time lets say 12 hours
then see how many blocks per day were solved in one pool and check the other as well
Difference is small specially if a pools has fees when the other does not, still the  difference is a round of shares at best.
Now Guild has email notification when a worker is donw when Ghash has for the total hashing (not so helpfull in my opinion)
Anyway as I said small difference.
1459  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why USB miners? on: April 23, 2014, 11:29:19 AM
Same for me I have them  at my computer at work 24/7      2 U1 and 1 U2 antminers most probably when my antminers S1 at home will switch off due to electricity cost my USB miners will hash!!!!!
anyway its more like a game and less like a profit...
