This is bad if the price will not recover, we have already hit the 0.02 mark in the past few weeks but now we are dropping, although it has some good signs due to the recent price increase but that does not convince the majority of supporters, I hope XMR will not die and people will continue to support this.
From a somewhat longer term viewpoint, I would consider a long consolidation in the 015-200 range to be a very positive development. I don't have any firm expectation how long this range will hold - on all evidence, probably not very long - but the longer it does last, the more bullish the future prospects will become. From my point of view it doesn't really matter whether this is a breakout or not. What matters is that eventually it will break out and level up, and I don't want to be caught wrong-footed when that happens.
Call me a moon child if you like, but at least half the sovereign debt outstanding is never going to be repaid. When that fact gets priced in, everything will sell off massively, all counterparty, repository, and fiduciary trust relationship will be called into question. You think you have gold because you own GLD? Hmmmph. Physical wealth safe from lien or seizure, and crypto, are going to be at maximum premium when the bail-ins begin in earnest in Europe. Monero is the safest of all assets in this regard.
Couldn't agree more. Pensions are getting shit on left and right because either the company or local gov't over promised and under delivered. So pensioners are having to take a hair cut. Things are going to get worse before they get better. Being on the wrong side could cost one a lot. |

It's really impossible to tell unless you are a DNM vendor yourself. There have been a lot of dodgy proceedings involving monero, including the buying of accounts to hype the coin. There are also several botnets mining the coin.
However, this doesn't mean monero is definitely all smoke and mirrors. Only time will tell if it collapses on itself or whether eventually reaches reputability.

Bitcoin was/is used on the DNM's too and was supervolatile too (google the chart for 2013 if you will)... it's still used there... but now also mainstream... now what's your point? exactly, noobs and their thoughts, worth jack shit... no one cares what you think, if you can come up with some research about the use of XMR on DNM's I'll be very happy to look into it. the value proposition of XMR is anonimity... as in, your transaction history isn't public for all to see until the end of time... out of that comes fungibility... Then there's also the dynamic block size etc... TLDR: do some research before you open these kind of (stupid) topics... It being used on dnm was what artifically pumped the price because a major dnm implemented it. The fact is it ISNT being used, its just there as an option. But NO ONE is accepting it, and NO ONE wants to use it in regards to DNM. That is my only point. Typical newbie making absolute statements with absolutely no proof. Absolute fail? It is a start for Litecoin, but Litecoin is going to have to deal with its effective 4 MB blocksize limit every 10 min.
This is assuming there isn't a repeat of the ETH/ETC fiasco. I find it odd that after several years of the claim that "Litecoin does not need development" there is now an attempt to include privacy enhancing features. What happened? Why the change of heart? Block size limit is an issue, but so is not having a tail emission to incentivize miners after block rewards hit 0. |

Your argument goes for any crypto including Monero. How is Monero exempt from everything? We know that the fatal bug was identified and also fixed by Monero devs. Are we to trust that all is well now? People are giving the devs the benefit of the doubt. So to say sdc is still broke or untrustworthy is bogus... it's no more broke than Monero after you guys fixed the same exact fatal flaw. May the best crypto win.
So true, and not like someone who promotes his Physical Monero Coins could be a bit biased  Obviously I can be biased, but I am also not ignorant to the facts. Calling a spade a spade, isn't being bias, it is being realistic without whining and crying on the forum because someone who broke the SDC project and announced it publicly and did the right thing. @darkota You can't see the forest for the trees. It's ok to be biased and silly, but to say that sdc isn't even an anonymous cryptocoin competitor is asinine. You guys have a great thing going, no doubt... but keep looking in your rearview mirror because shadow is there and creeping up while your still saying it's not happening.
Having the entire SDC blockchain de-anonymized is not a great start to promoting a privacy-based crypto coin. Just because the SDC devs say they "fixed" their code, how can one be sure unless a peer review or audit of the code by a neutral (unbiased) 3rd party that is reputable does the inspection? Of course the SDC developers are going to say "All is good" in the SDC source code, by publicly releasing their code on mainnet they essentially said "all is good" prior to the fatal exploit was found by Shen N. How can one expect to garner confidence in devs who allowed a fatal exploit that de-anonymizes their entire blockchain? I guess there is a sucker born every minute, as the saying goes...that's how. |

You obviously do not want to address the fact that Shen did SDC a favor in publicly announcing the exploit, which is the right thing to do.
To compare RingCT bug with SDC's bug, is a broken comparison.
RingCT was not live (nor was it public) on testnet/mainnet, SDC was live on mainnet when it was broken.
Again I ask, should Shen have kept his finding private and not told the public? Would that have been better?
Yes, he did do us a favor in the end and I have said that here before. But that does not excuse the way he handled the situation and the way you guys tried to take full advantage of a bug that was also found in your own code. Just because you guys found it first doesn't mean the shadow devs wouldn't have found it themselves a few days later and we will never know that.  Your gratitude always seems to come with a "but" Where exactly did you state that Shen did you folks a favor prior to this ^ comment above? Obviously you have more complaints than thank you's I will just leave you with that as this discussion has run its course and my points have been made crystal clear for all to see. |
