As Lauda said, it's no good to set a precedent for creating a section per altcoin. Then we'd need thousands of altcoin sections.

I do think that Monero is probably the best altcoin right now, since it actually does something major that Bitcoin doesn't, even if its scaling is terrible and it'll probably be replaced by a Bitcoin sidechain someday. Achieving Monero-style anonymity for everyone should be a long-term goal of Bitcoin.

Time will also tell how Monero's disinflation compares to Bitcoin's deflation when it comes to securing the network in the long-term, once fees exceed (and then dwarf) the block reward. That's one thing that Bitcoin can't do, even with sidechains. I'm really interested to see how things play out.

In theory Bitcoin could do that, if it were to break it's social contract and add a tail emission after block subsidies are at 0.

But I somehow doubt that it will ever materialize in the bitcoin protocol.

Thought this was interesting to read.

Not surprising. This is the same guy who publicly came out 6-8 months before MTGOX went belly up and said there were no financial problems with MTGOX because he "read letters from banks and attorneys".

1224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 07, 2016, 12:48:30 AM
Btcoin rallying, Monero rallying... Where the hell is Risto?  More than a month since his last post.

who cares?

Monero aint going to wait for anyone once it starts moving. Same for Bitcoin.

1230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: July 06, 2016, 08:46:31 PM
Is there any particular reason that XMR is rallying so much vs. BTC right now (I'm out of the loop)?

Nope keep ignoring it until it hits a new ATH.  Just keep ignoring it.  Pay no attention to whats happened and dont listen to/read the monero missives.

Definitely dont go to  https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/about/traffic/  and see how much the monero community has been growing, based on reddit traffic numbers.  Dont go to the github and check how many commits there have been related to the GUI recently, and dont go read the whitepapers about RingCT, and the updates on its development.

Dont go look at the hash rate statistics and see that Monero difficulty hit a new all time high a couple days ago.  And dont go looking at the Node counts and realize that high uptime nodes hit a new all time high a couple weeks ago.

Leave all the monero for us, thanks.

dude stop pumping, monero's not like that Cheesy

Yeah youre right.  Nothing ever happens in monero ever.  Any price rise is a pump.

You should all go full margin short.

(Edit: No, you really shouldnt go full margin short.  No one claim that I told you to do that, lol!)

I love the "don't pay any attention over here....keep looking in the other direction until WAAAAAY later on..." comment/attitude. lol
1231  Economy / Speculation / Re: my own personal guess as to generally what will happen with the price on: July 06, 2016, 08:16:18 PM
Last months people had enough time to hype up the block halving, which they also did. What's left this year to focus on for people? What is the driver to +$900 levels? Block size increase?

global economic slow down and financial turmoil in global markets.

That is what is coming in the latter half of this year and into subsequent years from now.

This is a cute picture!

How old is your son? If you don't mind sharing.
Thank you! He is 4 years old. Starting Junior Kindergarten this year.

I told him to look down because I will post his picture on the public internetz (teaching him about privacy, but kids don't really care.)

Other body weight + kid exercises: Son-Weighted Push ups / Pull ups (papa, I ride your back!). Son-Weighted Air Squats.

(whut? no comment about the bar? oh well....)

Yes I have free weights. But I guess my current approach was not to bulk up but to slim down.

I've added muscle despite not using weights.

1240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time to end the XMR vs DASH battle: Confessions of a Dash Enthusiast on: July 05, 2016, 10:20:21 AM
Are you even cognizant of the fact that you're exploiting a piece of reverse-troll propaganda and thus in actuality yourself trolling? Do you condone Dash trolls, or are you in denial that such a thing exists?
I wasn't talking to you here, I was asking a question to Riccardo. I have nothing to do with this OP caper, I just know that this whole thing is getting both sides nowhere fast. So I'm not trolling.

I do not condone trolling from either side. I also do not condone censorship over legitimate debate and criticism from anybody in Dash. While I can't control anyone and can't stop them from doing these things if they wish to, I've been abundantly clear where I stand on these issues. I'm simply asking a respected member of the Monero community where he stands on them, and I'm still waiting for an answer.

Silence speaks volumes...

Your first attempt to imply that "crickets" had anything to do with anything was debunked...now you are at it again?

Speaks volumes?

Why not just be patient, not everyone responds instantly as you would appear to want.

Take a step back and perhaps go do something else and return later and maybe you'll get a response.  Kiss
