HISTORY & BACKGROUND INFORMATION
King Kamehameha was the first hawaiian king. As a native hawaiian myself, Kamehameha is a part of my heritage and he is a very important figure in Hawaiian history. King Kamehameha united all of the Hawaiian islands by sailing into uncharted waters by conquering each island. He is also well known for the creation of what is called "The Law of The Splintered Paddle" otherwise knowns as Kānāwai Māmalahoe which protected non-combatants during times of war.

Bitcoin could be said to be sailing into uncharted waters as a revolutionary technology that is, over time, leading the way and taking over the world of commerce/finance. It is in this metaphor that both Kamehameha and Bitcoin are paralleled in history. This physical coin attempts to portray this metaphor.

OTHER INFORMATION
The artwork for both sides along with the hologram is custom commissioned art. It took months of working with the artist and related vendors and getting the design in such a way that it fits nicely on to the coin. I've spent countless hours hand tracing the design to allow line thickness to work for minting and also having to get vector art by hand tracing the majority of the hologram design (the circuitry and the binary ocean) so it would be visible.

Certificates (COAs) will likely be part of coin sales along with the auctioned coins as well. Certificates will only be provided should the coin(s) be fully funded with its 1BTC face value. If coins are not funded prior to shipment they will be laser marked on their respective holograms "BTCUYER FUNDED" or something similar to indicate the coin(s) are unfunded.

Any further details will be added to the main post as I get around to posting it.

Serial #'s and first bits will be laser marked on to the hologram as the hologram used has no clear window as was the case with my previous coins.

Coin #'s will be determined randomly. If you want to purchase a set of the same coin # for each coin type that is possible if you wish.

904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: September 13, 2016, 01:33:38 AM

Not all problems are simple to solve. Privacy is not a simple problem to solve. That is the reality on that topic.

but privacy in cryptos is a solution looking for a problem.

privacy is upto the individual it won't be solved by a crypto. a so called anon coin in the hands of average joe well it aint so anon, yet bitcoin, litecoin or even fiat can be completely anon if one knows what do to.

giving an anon coin to average joe is like giving your pc to your cat.......pretty pointless.

You appear to be stuck on the "average joe" argument.

The average joe doesn't give a crap about Bitcoin nor litecoin nor Monero. Maybe ....just maybe one day they will care about crypto. But blindly throwing them a currency to use without knowing the repercussions of using such a transparent crypto is setting them up for failure. Look at how many users thought that bitcoin was anonymous/private.

If privacy is not something that deserves attention/solution and is merely "a solution looking for a problem " (as you put it), please post all of your bank statements online for us to see.

I also suppose you use the restroom with glass walls for all to see what you do? Let's be real, privacy is an inherent right of all humans who wish to have it (finanace, personal, or other).

Not having financial privacy can be dangerous in different ways:

1. It is not a good thing for competitors to see how you pay your employees, your vendors.

2. If you are wealthy you can be a target for harm to be done to you or your family.

Monero solves the blacking listing possibility with Bitcoin/Litecoin etc. If a theft/hack happens where coins are stolen and exchanges (like coinbase) start to either reject exchanging your coins or holding them hostage given they are traceable back to a theft in those coins' past, would you not consider that a problem that may need a solution?

I would think so, all units of a crypto should be fungible on the socio-economical level and not decipherable based on "chainalysis", which is something that is coming to fruition with public blockchains like bitcoin and litecoin.

I'm sure there are other problems that exist that privacy solves that isn't just as you put it "privacy is a solution looking for a problem".

I agree not everyone values their privacy as much as others. But you cannot call a privacy enhancing crypto coin, a "gimmick" as if it is some sort of cosbycoin, BBQcoin, etc that is trying to sell something.

There is no gimmick when it comes to monero, and to say such is in my opinion ignorant. But I digress, to each his own, obviously you have your own views and goals that are not exactly aligned to what I am speaking to.

Quote
privacy is upto the individual it won't be solved by a crypto.

Privacy is up to an individual, but it is also the tools that such an individual utilizes which allows them to have privacy.

i.e. a door, a safe, a wall, ENCRYPTION,  cryptography etc.

Monero is just a tool just like those things. Otherwise everyone would be living in glass houses and all banking information would be plastered on the internet for all to see.
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 12, 2016, 06:59:48 PM
I'm a bit afraid that the dev team made their cash and are not so much in business to develope the GUI.

I mean i could do this with java in 2 days. I dont unterstand whats their problem here...they have had now 2 years.

Another problem is that people get used to something. Look like whatsapp or facebook. They are used to use Bitcoin. As long that dealers on DN doesnt give discount its hard to make the people switch to XMR. Moreover the volatility atm is not so good for the coin. Dealers could loose 15% in 2 days. Thats not less.

But still, XMR is superior from every view. Only the people around/behind it are sometimes the problem.

So solve this:

GUI
Make XMR to a prefered currency

Alphabay did its job, now its on the people.

Please link us to your GUI to test in two days okay?

Thanks ahead of time.

Aloha!

It's been a larger pullback than I expected. Do we go to 0.157 before the next leg up?

Regardless, an excellent time to get in.

The volume is quite low for this drop.

907  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: September 11, 2016, 05:10:30 AM
Well this is never gonna happen..but imho (I know squat...just saying) if the LTC foundation really really wanted to kick start LTC they would make it more or an anonomous
coin like Moreno...but they are pretty straight laced...so that is very very unlikely.

Thou just thinking about it....if LTC had that like Moreno does now.....and asic pow..imho it would pump harder then Moreno Smiley

The key above is NOT my idea...but that LTC needs some kind of better angle then just being Silver to BTC's gold...not sure what that should be...but it is evident to

me something needs to happen on the LTC development end to shake things up or I fear a 'dull slow fade' of LTC in the future.

disagree totally gimicky stuff like anon or 'innovation' for the sake of 'innovation' is a waste of space. many coins become flavor of the minute on pumps etc but yeah wont be around longterm in any significant degree.

also the litecoin foundation isn't litecoin, anyone can market any coin anyway they wish, without any 'official' approval. thats the beauty of decentralisation

litecoin the platinum to bitcoins gold Wink

Math-based and peer-reviewed innovation is not a gimmick.

KISS, p2p currency is not a mission to mars its currency. USD is hardly innovative yet is pretty dominate as a currency.

hell shells are used by more people on the planet today as currency then crypto.

i've not seen any 'innovation' since bitcoin thats been anything more then a gimmick (peer reviewed or not).

on the most part bitcoin itself is too complex for average joe to adopted, yet all 'innovation' todate seem to add to the complication. the only innovation thats needed is simplification.

USD is simple but it is only popular because the US government decreed it as "money/currency". But it is simple and has many flaws...like central banking and money printing that goes along with it. Simplicity comes at a cost. Just like attempts at privacy, it comes at a cost. You don't get something for nothing.

I agree KISS, but sometimes complex systems are necessary to accomplish certain goals (and to solve certain problems). And in that complexity it is good to keep things as simple as possible without layering additional complexity that is not needed.

It appears that you have your own standard of what "innovation" is, (peer reviewed or not).

I've looked at the monero code and actually found that there is a lot of merit to what is claimed.

1. To me monero is innovative as it is NOT based on Bitcoin's code like Litecoin is (im not hating on litecoin at all).

2. Monero also does something that bitcoin should have been doing based upon satoshi's original vision (true P2P cash).

Bitcoin is not fungible on the socio-economical level as monero is. Black listing of bitcoin (and litecoin) is possible. It is in this that monero solves that problem that bitcoin has, not to mention dynamically scaling block size that does not require a hard fork like bitcoin or litecoin would need to accomplish.

Let's agree to disagree that your opinion of what is and isn't "innovative" can be a gimmick.

In my honest opinion, monero is innovative enough to not merit a claim of being called a "gimmick".

 Smiley

I agree that the average joe will need things to be simple. Yes. But I disagree that the ONLY innovation is simplicity at this point.

Not all problems are simple to solve. Privacy is not a simple problem to solve. That is the reality on that topic.

909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the darkcoin/dash instamine matters on: September 09, 2016, 01:31:59 PM
Biggest issue with DASH is the amount of DASH taken up in masternodes is over half the amount in circulation!

Great way to reduce supply and increase the price.

The instamine issue is always going to hang around also.

Locking up DASH in masternodes artificially keeps the price high.

DASH would be much lower if this whole masternode scheme did not require users to lock up 1000 dash.

Barrier to entry for new users is way too high. Not a welcoming coin to new users that can't afford 1000 dash.

910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 09, 2016, 06:33:08 AM

911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE RISE AND RISE OF MONERO on: September 09, 2016, 03:46:25 AM
Bitcoin value will increase as it exits the Dark Net Marketplaces.  (Remember what happened after the Silk Road bust?  New ATH)
Monero value will increase as it enters the DNMs.

Right place and right time for both.

Agreed.

With being on the cusp of financial calamity alternative assets/currencies will likely revalue to the upside in the impending global economic contraction (i.e. recession and possibly beginning of a depression).

I suspect in the next 2-4 months the financial world will have some huge rumblings.

Are you sure? Only in 2-4 months? That is very close to happening and on time for christmas too. For you, what will be the catalyst of the new economic or financial collapse?

If there really is one that is going to happen I speculate that the governments around the world will again print $trillions worth of fiat to stimulate the falling economy. They will not allow a real collapse to happen just like in 2008.

Yes 2-4 months it will begin.

The catalyst is poor-broken-monetary-policy since 8 year ago and longer.

The bolded portion they will do for sure. Will it work? It might do a little but that is just like trying to stimulate a junkie crack addict, eventually the person is dead (person = the economy). Monetary heorine = cheap money printing.

The whole system is flawed. One giant broken experiment that will live on in the history books as one of the worst ever (assuming there are history books in the future).
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Dashpay given up on privacy? on: September 09, 2016, 03:41:50 AM
Dash is failing after repackaging their image 2 or 3 times it will not help them gain traction. If I was the founder I will accept defeat and start another project from scratch. Also his reputation is not so good after the ninjamine and instamine stories. His greed and scheming ways is not admirable in the idealistic nature of the cryptosphere.

Likely the whole Dash-Charade will continue on until it spirals slowly into oblivion. The writing is on the wall.

The clock is ticking. Dash's end is near.

918  Other / Off-topic / Re: SMOOTHIE HEALTH & FITNESS WORKOUT JOURNAL on: September 08, 2016, 04:11:05 AM
Been maintaining my weight in the 207lb-214lb area for a while now.

General Meals consists of:

1. Organic Turkey Chili - Garlic, onions, ground turkey, Tomato sauce, tomato, mushrooms, jalapeρo, chili powder
2. Raw Ahi tuna with a bit of organic soy sauce
3. Apples
4. Oranges
5. Broccoli
7. Flax seed milk (unsweetened)
8. Organic Blue corn flaxseed chips with organic salsa

Been taking nascent iodine 3-6 drops per day with water.

On the unhealthy side of things I've eaten (not as much):

1. Chicken Katsu with white rice
2. Loco Moco (hamburger patty, sunny side up egg, white rice, brown gravy)
3. Lilikoi butter mochi
4. Boston cream pie

What i've gathered is eating things you like in moderation is doable and isn't all that bad. I probably eat more healthy food than unhealthy types. But my weight has been rather stable for months.

Looking back about a year when I was 50 lbs heavier, a lot has changed.

Still work out a few times a week (5-10 min high intensity cardio).

Life is good!

Just a warm-up for the weekend, when punters in singapore, shenzhen and macao get paid, read the international business times, and place their bets.

Probably yeah.

2 min after I posted that image price shot up to 0.0207
