In addition, we need to gauge whether or not there will be any submissions for the Dapp Contest. We have received very little feedback or interest up to this point but I know Wulf mentioned possibly working on something. If we will not have any submissions (which we have only 2 days left), we would like to refund the dapp contest funds to the donors. If you are planning on submitting, please let us know. A quality review board will still be held for any submissions to ensure the quality and relevance of any submissions, but if you are planning on making a submission, we want to honor the commitment we made to the contest. Thanks!

I would like to develop a DApp, conceptually I have everything ready, and it's something that I could code quite easily, but I still can't get the Environment setup or running. 2 Days is far too little time to develop much of anything however and, if there is no extension to the contest I will not be able to complete the DApp. Unless there is an extension of a month to the DApp contest, I won't be able to provide any submissions.

I would say the best option, would be to give the DApp contest funds back to the donors. The DApp contest was originally meant to entice developers into developing apps for Crypti, but as you can see, there is almost no one working on DApps at the moment or the foreseeable future (with the split/fragmentation to Lisk and whatnot). It would be unfair to the donors to use their funds to promote a dying contest, which didn't pan out the way anyone intended.

Just a heads up, the Crypti Dapp docs on GitHub are outdated, or simply aren't correct. I tried to set up an environment on Linux (Ubuntu 15.04) following this tutorial to the tee : https://github.com/crypti/crypti-dapps-docs/blob/master/EnvironmentSetup.md, but was unable to. The Testnet Client simply doesn't install properly, with the current instructions.

Currently there are 0 DApps submitted by the community,  0. I'm trying to fiddle around with creating one, but nobody seems to care about this. Max and Olivier were the only people that used to respond to these questions, and it seems like once they've left nobody else wants to answer them.

Thanks, we had problem with our obfuscation (now source code is opened and this is not required now) in the start of this year, because build in this documentation was broken.

I fixed docs, i still need to upload macos VM (linux VM already uploaded), but i will do it very soon.

If you are interesting, there is a lot of examples of dapps in our github - https://github.com/ . You can look.

There is token dapp and part of bitcoin integration in DApp Toolkit.

Hey Boris

I've given it another go, and I managed to get the environment setup and the Testnet client running, but the problem, this time, is that if I try to access: http://localhost:7040, it just times out, despite the client running perfectly.

Are you keep 'node app.js' command working? And are you sure you launch it on local machine?
If yes, send me logs, i will look, but i already tried it yesterday and it worked.

Yeah, the node app.js command was run, I've sent you a PM with the logs.

We definitely apologize for the delay in getting an answer, but we are working to get through the immediate issues with delegates and materials that were removed or taken down in the last few days. As soon as we finish we will take a look at the docs. I will ask Boris if he can take a look sooner, but please be patient as we work through the immediately pressing issues. I believe this was brought up yesterday and we simply haven't gotten there yet. It's not being ignored I assure you.

Considering the fact that there have been 0 submitted entries to the DApp contest, and I would like to build one, is there any chance the deadline could be extended? If I wasn't able to get anywhere on Linux with setting up the environment, I doubt others would have got anywhere too. The problem isn't with configuration, but with the actual client itself.

Definitely. I'd like everyone to keep bringing these and I am making an immediate list of action items to address with the Foundation. I am hoping we can have a meeting Saturday on Crypti Chat (Rocket Chat Server) so you guys can all sit in and add any additional issues / talking points.
Sure, decide on a time and I'll be there.

One question after all this, is the 1 000 000 XCR prize for developing the DApp's, still on?

Any additional discounted price if I buy logo + website design together?

Sure for a logo + website design, the cost would be 0.7 BTC instead of 0.7875 BTC.

Hi I have a design for a wallet made already but do you do the design integration into actual wallet or just designing?

I just do design. A developer would have to take the .PSD files I give for the design and integrate from there.

Hi everyone

Just a quick update, I am available for freelance work once again. The OP has been updated with new pricing and details.

Support our Designer

Hey guys,

our designer made a huge preview of our website and client design. He does that to expand his own portfolio in order to get more work offers. We believe that he did a great job, therefore we want to support him.

So please like his preview on Behance and share it if possible. Smiley

Go to the Behance Preview

Thanks! Smiley

@Passion_ltc

Please don't say that this means that he's completed work on Crypti. If he has please try and keep him on board with your team. You don't want to have to find another designer at this point in time, right before major client releases. Plus while I did disagree with some points on the UI Design, as a whole the UI he has designed is largely impressive, please do whatever you can to keep him.

First Video Preview of our Decentralized Applications Platform and Sia Decentralized Storage

Hello Community,

We are very excited to show you the first preview of our forthcoming Decentralized Application (Dapp) platform. For this special moment we have prepared a YouTube video, which guides you through the necessary steps to deploy and launch your dapp onto Crypti's Dapp Store.

Please note that the user interface is an early version and will go through several quality assurance cycles before we release it.

Click here, to watch the video.

Are there any choices for app hosting other than Sia and GitHub? It is strange to me that we can not use Crypti blockchain for that purpose.  Huh

The first release with dapp functionalities won't have other storage solutions. When time passes we will add several other choices, centralized and decentralized. There are many alternatives available and we will implement them one-by-one.

Why is it strange to you that we won't make the Crypti blockchain available? Crypti is not a storage solution, it's a decentralized applications platform. Also we are not Ethereum, we will not pollute our main chain with arbitrary data. This is our huge difference to Ethereum. Smiley

At Ethereum everything is on the main chain, this will make the blockchain very big with the time and the gas-price for contract computation very expensive. (Correct me if I'm wrong. Wink) At Crypti, every dapp is running on its own side chain. That means, there can be 100,000 dapps running on Crypti without a problem.

@Passion_ltc would it not be better to create a side-chain or multiple side-chains on the Crypti network, purely to store DApps? It great to have a partnership with Sia, but IMHO it would be better to store everything on the Crypti network, that way you are not reliant on other networks and developers with the storage of important data. If there is a problem with the Sia network, then we are fully reliant on Sia's developers to solve the problem and ensure our data is safe, and as a potential DApp developer that doesn't instill much confidence.

The major difference between Ethereum and Crypti is that for developers Ethereum looks the more attractive option as everything is stored and executed from the same network. The problem with Ethereum is that EVERYTHING is stored on the same chain, Ethereum doesn't have side chains (please correct me if I'm wrong), whereas Crypti does. Therefore Crypti has a major advantage there. If you can store Crypti's DApps on a sidechain or multiple sidechains without the need of a third-party network to handle the storage needs, you will have a HUGE advantage over Ethereum.

Also on a side note, since Ethereum's roller coaster trading run over the last week (something akin to the major pump and dumps of the past years) has got massive coverage on media outlets from TechCrunch to CoinTelegraph, you can expect a major influx of investors looking for similar coins to invest in, and you can expect a lot of new "2.0 coins" popping up on the aftermath of Ethereum's release. So if you guys can complete the DApps platform within the next month or two and start marketing in that time, you will see a major increase in our community size and trading volumes.

Ethereum is about another year from full release, if Crypti can launch DApps and Sidechains within that time, with the proper marketing you can easily steal a lot of Ethereum's market share.

@Passion_ltc

Just wanted to thank you for the time that you keep on putting into giving us updates. Things have been a bit quiet in this thread over the last few weeks (I only get the chance to pop in around once a week here now), and you've still turned up and replied to people who have posted here and you've given the community constant updates.

Passion_ltc, can we expect an update today as usual or are you guys going to release an update tomorrow like the last couple of weeks?

Max will you show us whitepaper today? I mean not a blank piece of white paper, but technical whitepaper with technical words  Roll Eyes
I am very interested in this too.  I hope to start talking about specific capabilities to be coded for smart contracts and custom blockchains.  These are projected 0.4.0 capabilities that will become available in the next three months, right?

Right. We will release the white paper tomorrow. We made a few changes and I want the final OK from the foundation before I publish it. I hope you understand it. Smiley

What editor did you guys use to write it? Please tell me you used TeX : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TeX and not Microsoft Word, or something similar. When it comes to creating whitepapers, TeX is really the ONLY editor that you should use.

Closing Notes

I'm writing this on a new post for better visibility.

The changes that I've proposed wouldn't take a minute to implement. I've already create a dump file of my .CSS edits and pushed it to GitHub : https://github.com/Wulfcastle/UI/blob/master/unpacked.css
I've not made any "major" design changes (barring the header, my reasoning explained in the above post), just subtle changes here and there intended to get a more consistent look and feel throughout the whole UI.

You guys could literally copy/paste this over your current app.css and double-check the changes in less than a minute. Why not use the changes that I've proposed, changes that the community seem to agree with me, instead of wasting time developing a theming system for the Crypti Client, which let's face it, no one would use to it's full potential. NXT have already tried integrating theming into their client, and virtually no one in their community uses it, I've seen 2 themes pop up from a community 1000x greater than our currently, and neither of those themes are used by anyone.

Rather make the changes now, to the UI as a whole than waste valuable time, developing themeing support for the Client UI (which could take > 50 hours), time which you guys could use to build Apps for the DApps Store or time which you guys could use to fix bugs/stabilize the client better/improve usability etc.

It would be far more productive to make the changes to the UI now as a whole, based on community feedback, and mould the UI into something that everyone in the community agrees with, rather than create a system where each community member has to individually tailor their UI to their preferences, because that is just never going to happen.

So @Wulfcastle, I had a chance to sit down today and review your last couple posts. Let me address some thoughts I have in regards to what you posted.

Navbar / Sidebar

For starters, while the site is based on material design, I don't know that it was ever the designers intention to stick to it 100% and that can be seen in some of the elements. For the Navbar header and the box shadow, I don't dislike your version, but I don't think the current version is wrong or bad design either. I still like the bold header and don't even mind it next to the darker sidebar. However, I do agree that dropping the inset / shadow from the sidebar might be better. This is a change I would support.

Tables

I definitely agree that some changes could be made to the tables. You will see that he uses double borders on some of the sections and creates very heavy lines in the header and sub header sections. I dislike the heavy lines and dividers that are in the current version. At first it didn't really bother me, but they really stand out over time and could definitely use more subtlety. I don't dislike the alternating colors to differentiate rows in the tables, but that is a design decision that can obviously go either way. I, visually, prefer to see alternating colors. It helps me read tables. It definitely doesn't need the heavy lines on all of the borders though.

I will continue to discuss it with the team and make sure that we address some of your points as soon as we can all get together and discuss it and come to a decision. I can't promise it will be overnight but we WILL get to it.

First off, let me apologize for what happened yesterday. I was really stressed out with some things in my own life, and I was out of line, I realized today that I was at fault and I admit that fact. I took that stress out on you and the team and for that I am sorry. Thank you for replying despite whatever was said yesterday.

I agree with what you posted. The header has grown on me a bit to some extent, so it's really preference based, nothing wrong with keeping it.

What are your thoughts on the color palette that I've recommended? The color palette though would only make any major change to the header itself, and to the header blocks,  which have top-borders using some bland and repeated colors (in my opinion)?

From the new feedback that you've given me this is how I've redesigned the dashboard.

Main Changes

  • I've kept the header
  • The new color palette (shown above) has been applied to the dashboard, with slightly lighter and warmer colors
  • I've replaced the dull grey header block with a warmer purple taken from the Crypti Logo
  • The header is a warmer shade of blue
  • Padding has been added to items within the sidebar
  • I've removed the box-shadow from the sidebar (which you agreed on)
  • The color of the the "Send" button and the "XCR Balance" background have been replaced with a lighter shade of the new header colour
  • The old icons in the header blocks have been replaced with slightly larger ones (around 110% their original size) with the same colors as the new color palette.
  • I haven't made any changes to the font.
