702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ʉ Umbrella | The First Insured Cryptocurrencies | CDIC | Cryptsurance on: July 12, 2014, 03:00:59 AM
An interesting and far-fetched concept. You say a portion of Umbrella's block reward goes towards an insurance fund? Well in essence this makes Umbrella a centralized currency. Secondly what's stopping you from using the insurance funds for your personal gain rather than it's intended purpose to insure assets?

The insurance fund is controlled by a third party, (CDIC).  They control the wallet and provide proof of liabilities.

www.cdic.us

Umm one small problem here. CDIC doesn't exist.

Well, this is the first I'm hearing of CDIC. No information is provided on their website as to who they are or what they've done so they've established zero credibility so far.

Quick question, will holding BitShares-PTS have any disadvantage over BitShares-AGS?

Just does not look correct. Would not want to be the one who invested 1 BTC in the table above.

I checked the ledger (http://crypti.me:11050/) and there is no 1 BTC investment with those stats.

EDIT : I checked Maxmint's Escrow Address : https://blockchain.info/address/1u2FuXyp9BSVKaNA1FidqzTvRsYiGVkn8

And there is no record of a 1 BTC invesment, so incorrect data (FUD) has been placed in the post quoted above.

@Devs

Any news on the max cap? We were told there was an announcement coming out today?

It looks like the majority of the dev team have sounded off and made their preference known. I am waiting on the final word before I can announce anything.

Great, looking forward to the announcement.

708  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 11:49:59 PM
Well, this suck big time. I hope klee gets the money back, even if there's not a fat chance. I wouldn't like to see the thief getting hurt, maybe just brought to justice.
Are we sure the btc isn't in some tumbler by now?

@Wulfcastle, but why would the thief amass all of the stolen btc in the same address? It would be that much easier to connect him to other events and hoard some more evidence. Maybe the address belongs to a mixing service?

Well it could, but based on the posts above mine it seems like the hacker has already been connected to other events., looking at it now it could very well be a mixing service.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Weird Transactions in Wallet that I didn't make on: July 11, 2014, 11:39:57 PM
My Bitcoin Core wallet randomly sent 0.0020546 BTC to 1brain7kAZxPagLt2HRLxqyc3VgGSa1GR
Then quickly received it all back at 1HZwkjkeaoZfTSaJxDw6aKkxp45agDiEzN

Later received random BTC (0.000055) from 1HZwkjkeaoZfTSaJxDw6aKkxp45agDiEzN
And my wallet sent them to 1ENnzep2ivWYqXjAodTueiZscT6kunAyYs

I have a solid password of over 20 numbers, letters, random cases, and special characters. And not all of my BTC are missing.

Any ideas?

Possibly both are internal wallet address, not really sure?

EDIT : There was a topic exactly like this a while back, can't seem to find it now.
710  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 11:34:33 PM

Now this is getting interesting, 5000 BTC in one account, when klee only lost 1170 BTC, looks like this guy has hacked other people too. Also was it you who left the note there BurtW, when you say "your tag"?
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | Release July | 100% POS | New Source | IPO Started on: July 11, 2014, 10:43:19 PM
I also think market cap should be limited between 750-1000BTC
750 BTC should be the max.
712  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 08:57:23 PM
Also get Roger Ver to tweet about klee's hack and the 500 BTC reward. We all remember what happened to the last hacker which Roger Ver tweeted about.

Great idea. I gave it a shot: https://twitter.com/oxpal/status/487696772803096576
If more people ask, maybe he picks it up.

Everyone should retweet this or send a tweet to Roger Ver about it. ^^
713  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 08:41:59 PM
did o/p say some was in an exchange? if so they will have i.p
you can force them to give this , I would hope they would give willingly asap if so

once you have that you're cooking on gas
depending ion what jurisdiction they're in they could be looking at some serious jailtime if caught

if I were in this position I would contact Roger Ver, he takes no nonsense, very bright guy and didn't give into the blackmailer.
he may well be able to give advice and publicize for you

good luck

I mentioned this a few posts back, get Roger to tweet about this hack and the 500 BTC reward and you'll get tonnes of people looking for this guy.

@OP

Really sorry for your loss.

You need to ask member BurtW what he knows about this address 1CEQCaXZuKx3bPRySUFvCpXthWAnExukFb. He sent 0.00112233 BTC  on 2014-07-11 17:07:52 from 1BurtWEejbnKeBRsvcydJvsNztB1bXV5iQ  tx:73368087a30b59804d35457777debcf30aa72d35895c5c9739f8556453603921

Hope this helps.

Hmmmm, this could be interesting
717  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 08:02:35 PM
Here's a proposition :

Mirror your hard drives that were compromised, DO NOT FORMAT THEM. And send all your data to a professional Anti-virus company, Kaspersky/AVG, make them aware of what has happened and about the reward for finding the identity of the hacker, then get the community behind this and get some media publications to carry this story and make as many people as possible aware of this hack and the reward for it. If you get a following big enough, two things could happen the hacker could be pressured into sending back the coins (unlikely) or dump them for USD (very likely). If they dump them for USD and you find their identity everything can be linked to them (through bank account etc) and you can get all your money back.

Why contact an Anti-virus company? Well quite simply they are professionals in this field, if the hackers compromised your computer there's a high chance they could find "breadcrumbs" left by the hackers and pinpoint their location and subsequently their identities. Although there are probably some great detectives here on BCT, I think you'd have a better chance handing over all your compromised HDD's to a professional Ani-virus company.

Also get Roger Ver to tweet about klee's hack and the 500 BTC reward. We all remember what happened to the last hacker which Roger Ver tweeted about.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What was the reason behind the Nxt price jump in June? on: July 11, 2014, 02:52:52 PM
About a month or two ago, Nxt jumped up in price to about 10 cents per NXT. Now it seems to have gone back down. Does anyone know the reason behind this? I believe the asset exchange was launched a couple weeks prior to the big jump in price so that can't be the reason, right?

And why is it back down again? What is going on here? Huh

Most likely the launch of their Asset Exchange.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | Release July | 100% POS | New Source | IPO Started on: July 11, 2014, 02:34:05 PM
The 500 BTC probably came from a comment I made in the first 10 pages of the thread or so. We were having a discussion about caps and I said "If this were a kickstarter, our actual goal would be 250 BTC (that's a really strong mark for us) and 500 BTC is more like the last stretch goal. I would be overly joyed if we managed to even hit the 250 BTC amount.".

The 250 BTC would allow us to get out the minimum and already discussed features. The 500 BTC mark would allow us to reach most of the internal goals we have and get them to market by my estimation. But why shouldn't we strive for better? We created our internal goals based on our internal discussion on what we thought was possible for funding. Additional funding makes our team stronger and allows us to hire new developers, meet our goals faster, and gives us extra to support community projects and new ideas that spring up after we have several months of active network under our belts. Who knows what we will think up 6 months from now and I would rather have additional funding and a buffer for when those great ideas pop up.

That being said, we understand that investors don't want over dilution so we are attempting to find a balance to put as a cap just in case the investments take off and exceed our expectations.

We already put in place the declining 10% to help investors if we reach the 500 BTC mark. We are now, due to overwhelming responses, considering placing a cap for investor confidence and assurance that we won't over dilute. We just need to get the numbers right and make sure that it's going to meet the intended purpose.

In my opinion you guys have handled the situation pretty well, some people may have mistook your openness to community opinions as indecision. As investors we'd all like to see Crypti succeed, but we have to protect our investments as well, I've said before that in my opinion 750 BTC would be the maximum cap, anything higher than this would take away a vast amount of profitability for investors.
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Crypti | Release July | 100% POS | New Source | IPO Started on: July 11, 2014, 02:29:03 PM
Investements wave is over. Devs, name the cap before it's obvious that you won't be able to gather more than 500 btc anyway. Safe your face.

Total BTC Invested:2,130.398
Development fund:  0%
Percentage Bonus:  29%

it was already 2130 BTC.
http://crypti.me:11050/

Hmmm, that doesn't seem possible. Maxmint would have received over 1850 BTC in that case as BTER only has had 250 BTC invested. Maxmint can you confirm this?

Maxmint's address https://blockchain.info/address/1u2FuXyp9BSVKaNA1FidqzTvRsYiGVkn8

Yep, dzarmush is correct only 2 BTC has been invested via Maxmint.
