141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Majority of investors are quitting, what are you doing? on: June 14, 2023, 11:05:55 AM
I think the OP is asking the wrong question.
It is never a good idea or practice to look at what others are doing or saying, but everyone should consider their own financial situation, analyze the market in detail, assess all the risks and possible gains, and based on all this make the best possible investment decision for themselves.
In doing so, it is always important to diversify investments into different asset classes, determine specific investment goals and a clear exit strategy.
In my case, this means investing in real estate, in shares on the stock exchange, in a new energy start-up project and in bitcoin.
Smart investors don't give up and panic sell their shares on the stock market every time the market drops, but sell when they reach their investment goals.

In order to be able to have a quality and reasoned discussion about the favorites in the next season of the Champions League, they should first see how all the clubs will look in the new season and with which players they will play.
Until then, we can only discuss in general, but actually every season the favorites are always the same, right? We always talk about more or less the same clubs, Manchester City, Real, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern, and this season we will probably be able to add Arsenal, Napoli and Inter to the list.
The first league of champions is always the most difficult to win and that's why it will be much easier for Manchester City players now and they will play with much less pressure and that's why I consider them the main favorites for the new title.

The Netherlands - Croatia will be a match that I think is about 50-50, but Croatia is missing a strong Croatian defender who managed to play a great World Cup in Qatar.

Unfortunately, Croatia will have to play without Josko Gvardiol, who failed to heal the injury despite all efforts. His place will be filled by Martin Erlic, who at this point seems to be the only logical choice.

This is definitely bad news for Croatia because the defense will lose perhaps its most important player with the absence of Gvardiol.

I just heard, it's bad news for the Croatian team. Gvardiol is a great player, and even Man. City will probably sign him.
He has already played more important matches and is more used to this type of match than Erlić

On the Netherlands side, it seems that Matthijs de Ligt will not play and the reason is the same: injury. I think they called Daley Blind in his place, but I don't know if he will be the starter.

But the bookmaker odds remain the same, 2.02 for Netherlands and 3.70 for Croatia
Approximately 47% odds for Netherlands, 27% draw and 26% for Croatia

I'm still betting on Croatia anyway, and I think this match has good chances of extra time  Cheesy

I agree, Croatia lost a very important player in defense, but the Netherlands also lost an important player.
At the last 2 world cups, Croatia was very good and won 2 medals, silver and bronze, and now Croatian players announce that they want to finally win a trophy and get a gold medal.
There is certainly a chance for that, but it will be very difficult. The problem is that another key player of Croatia, Brozović, will come to this tournament very tired after the Champions League final.
I think that this tournament will be very even and uncertain and that all 4 national teams have a chance to win the trophy. Croatia already traditionally wins after extra time and penalties, so I predict the same outcome after the match with the Netherlands.

Sunday's gossip:

Newcastle want to sign England defender Harry Maguire from Manchester United on loan, but they have been told they must buy the 30-year-old. Manchester United are really trying hard to get rid of Maguire as soon as possible  Grin
Liverpool are prepared to wait for Southampton's 28-year-old England midfielder James Ward-Prowse. They will pay only half of the Saints' Ł50m valuation. Liverpool are preparing to rebuild their squad after a disappointing season. Will this transfer help them?
The agent of Bayern Munich's France defender Benjamin Pavard, 27, has spoken to Liverpool. Bayern and Liverpool seem to be working very well together lately  Grin
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to sign 24-year-old Paris St-Germain and France forward Kylian Mbappe but not this year. Perez is in no rush. He knows that Mbappe is not happy in Paris, but at the moment he is too expensive for Real and Perez is waiting for next year to get him much cheaper.
Everton want Coventry's Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres, 25, but face competition from West Ham, Wolves, Fulham, Leeds, Southampton and Sporting Lisbon. Everyone wants Gyokeres and which club will he go to in the end?

145  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Croatian League - Hrvatska nogometna liga 2022./2023. on: June 11, 2023, 03:56:00 PM
And when did you see that Dinamo ZG was bringing big football names? Their way of doing business is to buy relatively unknown players for relatively little money, and then if they are lucky, they sell them for at least ten times the price in a few years. What is the "problem" now is that there is no longer a chief operative who had a good nose for work, and regardless of the reputation they have, the young forces of Dinamo are far from being successful businessmen.

In addition, internal calculations are still ongoing in the club, and as I hear, several other employees were recently fired because they were identified as players of the former boss.

I'm not following news about new players coming to Dinamo, bit you are not wrong. Their last management's way of Work was just as you described it. Buy a potentially good player for small price, let him play and develop and then sell him at a much greater price. Maybe the new management needs some time to get things in order and employ some new scouts to find those potential players. But Dinamo and especially Croatain football can't afford another bad European season because it will fall even further down. But then again, maybe they (Croatain football in general, not Dinamo) belong there...

OK, by big names, of course, I didn't mean big foreign names, but I was thinking best Croatian players who came to play in Dinamo in recent years,  Petkovic is the best examples of that.
Mamic was the best in such jobs and knew how to recognize every young and talented footballer and bring him to Dinamo, like Eduardo. Of course, he was not right every time, but thanks to him, Dinamo was always stronger than the competition.
It seems to me that the new sports director Šimić doesn't really know how to manage this business because I see that the best football players like Livaković and Petković are leaving Dinamo and I don't see who will replace them.
As for European club competitions, Dinamo will again be the only one with a real chance to win the group stage of a competition, and I give the other Croatian clubs in Europe a minimal chance for that.
146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 11, 2023, 03:46:15 PM
Djokovic plays very well in the RG final and they don't give Ruud any chance. It seems to me that Ruud is too impressed by Djokovic and the atmosphere of the finals and that he is not yet ready to win big trophies, although he has potential and will probably win some GS in the coming years.
Djokovic is currently leading 2-0 in sets and I simply don't see any way Djokovic can lose this match.
It seems that we are about to witness tennis history as Djokovic will win a record 23 GS tournament in his career.
Very good match until now.
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: June 11, 2023, 03:40:18 PM

We can't judge Sevilla about their place in La Liga because they didn't focus on the league games and they didn't need the La Liga games to earn points at all in the last games because they couldn't reach the top of the table and on the other hand, Sevilla wanted to win the Europa League and they have enough hope for it because of the last wins the had in Europa League.

In the end this is true and Real Madrid was trying the same. They wanted to make the La Liga season be forgotten by the win of the Champions League title and it would have worked. Nobody would be talking about their inferior performance compared to Barcelona had they won the Champions League. Of course everyone knows that Sevilla didn't perform well in La Liga, but of what help is that to Manchester United and Juventus Turin? Cheesy

Both of those clubs saw that Sevilla is struggling in La Liga, but that had obviously no influence on the game against Sevilla in the Europa League. Even when sometimes it is hard to understand, it is still two different competitions and it seems that a team can show two different performances.
In the 2022/23 season, Manchester City won the UEFA Champions League trophy and Sevilla won the UEFA Europa League. A team from the English Premier League over La Liga but sadly no team from the Italian league could win a major tournament this season.
Although three different teams from the Italian club qualified as finalists in three different tournaments, unfortunately none of the three teams managed to win the trophy.

Fiorentina, Roma, and Inter Milan all performed well in the finals, but luck was not in favor of any team, so these three teams eventually exited the season as runners-up.

Yes to some degree it was the lack of luck and to some degree lots of people make the mistake and compare the positions in the table across different leagues, which is wrong in my opinion. Achieving equal ranks in the Premier League and in Serie A is still worth a bit more in the Premier League as it is the much harder league to play. In terms of Sevilla vs. Roma it was an equal game and that was indeed a bit unlucky for Roma, but overall still a deserved win for Sevilla.
You are right the Sevilla team has not focused specifically on LaLiga for the Europa League. But in my personal opinion, Sevilla need to do great in La Liga too, because there are enough opportunities in this league. With nothing more likely to be done in La Liga this time around, it's only fitting that Sevilla do something great in the Europa League.

Along with the English league, the Spanish league is the best European league, with a lot of quality teams and players.
Even for Real, it has been very difficult to win the Spanish league in recent years, but that is why they have won many more European championship titles than Spanish championship titles.
On the example of Real, it seems that it is easier to be the champion of Europe than the champion of Spain  Grin
The situation is similar with Sevilla, they are much more successful in European club competitions than in the Spanish league.
In European club competitions, it is enough to play 6-8 quality matches to win a trophy, but in the league system it is not enough and you have to play at a high level continuously.
148  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: June 11, 2023, 03:32:32 PM
It was quite unexpected because in reality, Inter had the ability to dominate the match but unfortunately, Inter were still not lucky to be able to beat Manchester City. So, because Inter were able to do well in the Champions League final, I honestly think Inter deserved to win because of the great effort they put in.

What's more, De Bruyne was injured again and then substituted before the end of the first half and at the very least, this incident is enough to make me worry whether Manchester City will still fail. But fortunately, finally Rodri was able to score a goal and it became the only goal in the Champions League final this time to bring victory to Manchester City and his success in getting the treble winner this season.

I think the Manchester City players were under a lot of pressure before the start of the match and they played very nervously and below their usual level.
The Inter players played a fantastic game and were completely equal to Manchester and deserved at least extra time.
But this is football and the team that scores the goal wins, so there is nothing to complain about Manchester City's victory. Unlike Inter, they readily took advantage of their chances and won, which is a characteristic of great teams.
Now that they have finally won the Champions League and taken that burden off themselves, I expect them to win a few more Champions Leagues. The first trophy is always the hardest to win because of the enormous pressure and high expectations.

With Messi moving to Miami , I do have confidence that he will be playing at the next WC , especially that he will know all the pitches by then and having extra info even if the age won't forgive Messi but I would like to see him playing one more WC. Now , can Argentina win it again ? I doubt it because believe it or not , England looks the strongest team on the planet right now , because they do have a lot of young talented players with massive experience in both WC , EC but also UCL and Premier League. Cool

Why do you think that because of playing in America, Messi will have less chance to perform at the next world championship? On the contrary, the American soccer league is less demanding than the European soccer league and this may help Messi play longer and extend his soccer career. After all, even though he plays in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo still plays for Portugal.
Along with Brazil and France, Argentina is always among the favorites at every World Cup and that will not change.
England is a strong national team? Yes, their clubs are strong at the moment, but because of the large number of quality foreigners playing in England, while the national team still hasn't achieved any great result in a major competition.

Saturday's gossip:

Paris St-Germain are planning a move for Manchester City's Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, 28, this summer as a replacement for the departing Lionel Messi. Is it even possible to find a replacement for a player like Messi?
Manchester City have held initial talks with RB Leipzig over the signing of Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol, 21. If the rumors are true, Gvardiol could become the most expensive defender in history, and join another Croatian in Manchester City, Kovacic.
Saudi side Al-Ahli are ready to offer Algeria winger Riyad Mahrez, 32, a contract worth Ł40m a year to leave Manchester City this summer. Football clubs in Saudi Arabia seem to have truly unlimited finances and currently offer the best football pension in the world  Grin
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been told he will have Ł75m to spend this summer with Leicester'sEngland international James Maddison, 26, their top midfield target and Brighton's21-year-old Ecuadorian Moises Caicedo, Manchester United'sScotland international Scott McTominay, 26, and Chelsea and England's Conor Gallagher, 23, also under consideration.  Newcastle is obviously preparing very well for next season and the Champions League, and will also be a very serious competitor for Manchester City in the championship.

However, Ademi and Orsic left Dinamo, Livakovic and Petkovic will probably leave soon, and it will be interesting to see if Dinamo will continue to be this dominant in the Croatian league next season.

I'm sure that Dinamo's scouts and the whole management will sign some players that will make a difference in the next season(s). I didn't follow if there is anyone yet on the list, but they will have to hurry because the European qualifications will start in two months and new players have to find a chemistry with the rest of the team.

I must admit that so far I have not seen big football names coming to Dinamo this summer, but that is why it seems that the key and best players of Dinamo could leave the club this summer.
It seems that the new Trabzonspor coach and former Dinamo coach Bjelica wants to bring Petkovic and even Orsic to his new club.
Livakovic is currently also linked with the Turkish league and even with a move to Saudi Arabia.
With the earlier departures of Ademi and Orsic, it must be admitted that Dinamo is significantly weakened and that it urgently needs to bring in new and quality players if it wants to be competitive again in European competitions.
Domination in the Croatian league goes without saying, but Dinamo lives financially from European club competitions, not from the domestic league.
152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany ⚽ - Qualifiers on: June 10, 2023, 01:10:11 PM
Still a lot of opaqueness regarding Neymar's offer from Saudi Arabia. I have reasons to suspect that it was not as lucrative as the ones given to Messi and Ronaldo. Anyway, Paris St-Germain is also owned by Arabs (Qataris, not Saudis) and their contract is also worth a huge sum ($263 million). If Neymar want to stay in Europe, it is understandable. Even Messi's wife was not happy with his move to Saudi Arabia and had asked him to stay with PSG. But fortunately Messi was able to convince her and avoid a $1.2 billion loss to his bank account.  Grin

Messi isn't going to Saudi Arabia, He's going to MLS. The money is the only only thing that the Saudis have to offer, the quality of football is relatively lower than that of the MLS. The MLS is more competitive.
Did you see the contract given to Kante? Do you think Neymar would be given any less? Neymar just wants to continue playing in Europe. He feels he still has a lot to offer and that is true. Besides Manchester United will offer him a very good contract. Neymar and Man United have not agreed on anything yet and he might still go to another European club or even go to the MLS or Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

In fact, through sponsorship contracts and investments in the league, Messi will earn much more in the long term in America than in Saudi Arabia, and of course the quality of football in America is higher.
Neymar is a very good football player, but the problem is his behavior and work ethic. In Paris, he simply did not justify the huge money that PSG invested in him. Will it be better in Manchester? I'm Not really sure.
We will see if Henry Kane will decide to change clubs and go to Real. He certainly wants to start winning trophies towards the end of his career.
The final tournament in the League of Nations awaits us next week, and then we look forward to the continuation of the EURO qualifiers  Grin
153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: June 10, 2023, 01:01:03 PM
That's true but finals or knockout games sometimes have their own laws to a certain degree. The game between France and Argentina could have also ended differently. There we so many minor things that in the ended went in favor of Argentina, but I do think that they are the deserved winner. France was too passive for too long during that final game.

At the World Cup 2026 I expect a French national team that is more awake and focused on the moment. In 2022 they also slowed down in the game against Morocco where it didn't really look like a typical France game. They were behind or even in all statistics except for goals. Morocco had 62% ball possession and higher passing accuracy. Since we are talking about France here, that is not quite normal.

But with this loss in the back of their heads they are now looking forward to their next chance and avoid the mistakes they made last time.
The World Cup in Qatar it was a watershed (in my opinion)
I could never imagine that a country with Muslim traditions could host an event like the World Cup.

In 2026, I'm almost sure that several national teams will surprise the whole world.
Year after year, countries around the world are taking football seriously as a serious sport.
They are training more, some countries are investing in football and teaching young people and children to practice this sport.

In my life I would never have imagined that Morocco would be able to participate in a World Cup semi-final (I'm not putting it down, but that was something unbelievable)
Germany was easily eliminated and had a poor performance in the 2018 and 2022 cup.
Italy did not participate in the last world cups (2018-2022)
Croatia beating Brazil sensationally (2022)

I will be very curious to know how the 2026 world cup will be!
I have no doubt that we will have several surprises, and I am sure that several teams will be more prepared and evolved in relation to this last world cup that we had.

I agree with you but not completely.
We have many other Muslim countries that can host the world cup and there is not any problem in their country when they host it if they really make rules for the visitors for their country and don't make them obey the Islam rules, I think Qatar could do the same they could make exceptions for the visitors.
Also, I think Qatar is not guilty and we can't blame this country for what happened in 2022 because FIFA made a mistake by letting them host the world cup because Qatar had no potential for hosting the world cup at all and it was a main reason for us to say we should blame FIFA instead of Qatar for the 2022 world cup.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that Saudi Arabia, another rich Arab and Muslim country, has a very good chance of becoming the host of the World Cup in 2030 or 2034. They are already official candidates and are spending a lot of money on their promotion, and part of that plan is  bringing Benzema and Ronaldo to play in their league.
As for the rest, it is common knowledge that today everyone knows how to play football and that everyone has improved tactically and physically, and that the difference in quality between the best European national teams and African and Asian national teams is getting smaller and smaller.
At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Ghana almost made it to the semi-finals, but they unfortunately lost to Uruguay on penalties.

Djokovic showed us today once again why he was one of the biggest tennis players in history. Even if Alcaraz didn't have an injury Djokovic was like in his prime today. Besides if Djokovic wins Roland Garros he will capture the oldest winner in Roland Garros title.

I agree, Djokovic played great against Alcaraz, but the match was completely open and the question is who would have won in the end if Alcaraz had not been injured.
The whole tennis world was impatiently waiting for this match of the year and it's a shame that it all ended like this, with the injury of one tennis player.
Alcaraz impressed me a lot in this tournament and I have no doubts that he will become the new Nadal and win a lot of Roland Garros in his career, if he will not have many injuries.
Djokovic probably has about 2 more years of top tennis ahead of him and a great chance to win a record number of GS titles and officially become the GOAT.
155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season on: June 10, 2023, 12:42:05 PM
, meanwhile it's obvious Man City will dominate the match in term of possessions it's up to Inter Milan manager to deploy whatever tactic to absorb the pressure and mark very well.

Since they qualified for the final I predicted the game would be controlled by Man City. Even I didn't like this final, because I thought at first Inter would play a lot of waiting. Inter will try to be patient to take advantage of the mistakes made by Man City. They will probably take advantage of the counterattack. But I don't know what happens later, there are still many possibilities. But if Inter are able to beat Man City, maybe many gamblers will lose. But betting for Inter also requires a strong mentality. Maybe they just hope for luck and are ready to lose money.  Grin

Such important, final football matches are always unpredictable and no one can be 100% sure of the final result.
We know favorites don't always win, right?
If it were according to the predictions of the last 5-6 years, only 2 clubs, Manchester City and PSG, would have won the Champions League.  Grin
Regardless of the quality and strength of Manchester City, this is a new situation for them, and they are under enormous pressure to win.
Inter is very good in defense and if they withstand the initial heavy pressure from Manchester City players, the longer the match is tied, the more chances they will have to win.
156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Factors that's why others are hesitant to start in crypto on: June 10, 2023, 12:27:58 PM
I talked to several friends about investing in crypto and almost all of them rejected the possibility.
Why?
First of all, people are busy with their daily life, responsibilities, work and other things and do not think about any investment.
Most feel that they do not have enough money for any investments or are afraid of the risk of investing and the possibility of losing everything.
Everyday use of bitcoin or any crypto is still rare and that is not a sufficient reason for someone to become interested in bitcoin.
Besides, when I start explaining to people what bitcoin, digital wallet, private key and other crypto terms are most of them just give up and don't want to listen.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can bitcoin die? on: June 10, 2023, 11:51:09 AM
Congratulations, Bitcoin is not a security, that makes it way better than anything ever built on this earth since the past years, this will make Bitcoin a bigger target for huge institutions,  since SEC can't even target Bitcoin, it should clear the fact that Bitcoin will have a longer life span, so cool down and think positively.

The only way that Bitcoin can become a thing of the past is if everyone stop using it and adopting it, I am happy that this call is not in the hands of the government to make, it's very obvious to see reasons why Bitcoin will live longer.

I agree with you.
Realistically, a lot of people already have bitcoin and no government can do anything about it.
Of course, governments can agree among themselves to disable the public use of bitcoin, close crypto exchanges and exchanges, disable crypto trading and mining, but bitcoin will still exist, it will just go underground and people will directly sell and buy bitcoin between themselves.
I'm sure that all governments and international financial institutions understand this and that is why they are not thinking about banning bitcoin but about its regulation and taxation.

Didn't Messi just signed with Inter Miami? At least that is what was published yesterday. If it's true what you say about his wife not wanting to move to Saudi Arabia, I guess he signed with Miami because of that. I couldn't find the exact financial agreement but there are speculations that he was offered a revenue-sharing deal with Adidas and Apple TV, but also a possibility to own a part of the club when he retires.

Yes, this is already confirmed news on many online portals, and they also reported Messi's statement that he is going to America because he wants peace for himself and his family.
Barcelona seem to have failed to convince Messi that the financial construction of bringing him to Barcelona is sustainable.
Of course, Messi has a huge marketing value, and in America he now has the opportunity to further strengthen his personal brand and increase his earnings.
It seems to me that neither Ronaldo nor Messi will play in European football anymore.

Livaja is to blame for the fact that some fans criticize him, because if you want to celebrate your victories in a way that insults others, then be prepared that others will return it in the same or similar way. Given that this is not his first time and that he has already been punished for the same things, I think that his club should perhaps take some steps in terms of counseling regarding self-control.

Croatia definitely has problems with attackers, but Livaja is not irreplaceable, so this should not be seen as something that should affect the players and their game. What I would personally do if I were a coach is to close all training sessions to the public, and apparently none of the staff thought about that before the incident.

I agree, no one is irreplaceable, but Croatia is the weakest in the forward position, and since Mandjukic left, we don't have a real attacker.
The problem is that Livaja was not dropped because of an injury, but by his own decision, so the coach has no right to look for a new player for that position.
As things currently stand, Kramarić will once again be our main option for attack and we will have to hope that he does not drop out due to injury or other reasons.
In any case, unnecessary problems for Croatia before this tournament.
