1021  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Thoughts on DuckDuckGo? on: April 30, 2018, 05:39:01 PM
I use it primarily...

Me too.

I've switched from Chrome&Google to Firefox&DuckDuckGo some time recently.
I don't like the idea of a server that has access to every thought I searched in my entire life since I got my first computer.
Essentialy, those in posession of that power can blackmail anyone they dislike because everyone has searched something that's wrong in the eyes of the public at least once in their lives.

They only have three warehouses in the U.S and one in Austria as far as I know. There are multiple shipping methods (DHL, FedEx, standard, etc.) and you can also ask for custom fit boxes since the price is based on dimensional weight, this will greatly reduce your shipping costs.

Would be nice if I found one in Hong Kong  Cheesy
Will be e-mailing most companies probably and report back here.

I use Shipito as a reship company, I just asked them about doing that and they said they could do it. After receiving the item, make a special request and explain that you want a split.

Wow, nice!

Though, they don't have a Hong Kong storage?
I'm thinking of moving my ltd to HK, but I don't want to travel there to do the work.
Should of mentionted it in the OP.

What do you call it when you get a 1 package with a 100 items in it
And I'd need the package forwarder to ship out those 100 items in a 100 packages?

Is there a company that could provide that sort of service?
Maybe there are proxy shipping services which do that ? No matter which service you use,you need to explicitly mention that those 100 items are supposed to be shipped as 100 different packages.I don't know bitcoin proxy shipping services but you can try this one www.comgateway.com On a side note, why can't you just receive those 100 items in one package and then ship them as 100 different items ?

That's what I'm doing right now with my EU ltd  Cheesy
Unecessary import fees and extra shipping fees.

I've calculated that running a HK ltd would be cheaper for me than the current one, + shipping prices and import fees would be non existant.

You don't have to look anywhere to prove that God described by people in the 'sacred' texts does not exist.
It is right there in the 'sacred' texts. People describe what they want the God to be, misogynistic, masochistic killer.

The rest of your post makes no sense.  Do winged horses exist?  It is like asking "do you believe in aliens?".

I say with ~100% probability (based on direct observations) that God, winged horses and aliens do not exist.

If I see any of them in flesh, I will change my mind.  Until then it only makes sense to assume they do not exist.

Assuming that they exist is foolish, wishful thinking.  Good ideas for writing a novel or a movie script.

So yes, I am 0.0001% Agnostic and 0.9999% Atheist, if that is what you want to hear.

You're wrong about aliens though

How likely is it that we're the only species in the entire universe?

1030  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Is the Ivory Tower proof we shouldn't restrict other sections like the I.T.? on: April 27, 2018, 09:41:36 PM
I still think signature campaigns are pretty sweet I just don't want them to flood into the Ivory tower. It isn't a common feature in many forums to have this kind of market place atmosphere that we have at Bitcointalk. I like Ivory tower just the way it is. The other forums may have some additional changes to make them better. I'm not sure what those could be.

I agree it's a place safe from pointless posts.

The point was, is IT proof that we shouldn't make the whole forum like the IT.
Not that IT is no good, or something like that.
It's rather interesting and a good section (emphasis on section).

Quote
What really makes me wonder, is who the hell clicks on signatures? Pretty much nobody I'd think, but apparently that can't be so. Campaign managers that allow a certain quota of posts really should watch where in the thread they are making those posts. Somebody making a post on a thread 13 pages long probably will never get read. It is surprising any of these campaigns actually generate any money.

You can't say you don't know about Crypto-Games, FortuneJack, ChipMixer etc.
You usually google their names, but they got inside your head from the signatures.

It's mostly about branding.

My personal opinion is, although there is obviously some negative effects from sig.campaigns they are most certainly good for the forum overall.
They incentivize people to be active.
They help create active threads, sections, SEO rankings etc. etc.

If people need a signature campaign as an incentive to be active then no, that's not good at all. And most of the traffic it helps create is utterly worthless. Watch Patrol for a few minutes - what's the point of all that crap?

It will take us a few months to see the effects of merit. If that doesn't work out I'd rather see the signatures (and avatars) banned altogether, at least outside of the Altcoin boards.

Some don't, some do.
A lot of people would just follow BTC without bitcointalk.
Once you see an advantage of posting in something that already interests you, you get deeper into it and create content that might be useful for other people later on (and they'll find your experience online).
1031  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS - NEW] Bitcoin's Starry Night, Limited to 50 on: April 27, 2018, 09:05:38 PM
What is the difference between print and canvas ?

Print deteriorates while canvas can last for hundreds of years.
Prints are usually cheap while canvas carries a significantly higher price.

1034  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: April 27, 2018, 11:08:02 AM
This is what attracted me to Bitcoin originally. One word "Decentralization" was the single most attractive thing I had ever heard.

There were a few questions that I felt were way too vague, for the sake of brevity presumably, and these had me stumped for awhile. Suggest me some economic reading, where can I get some information? As I said, very clueless, mostly ignored politics and economics my entire life. Markets are important, but maybe I have too much compassion weighing on it, or something. I think most American's would have a strong nation bias, it's pretty heavily embedded in our culture.

What defines a libertarian?

Milton Friedman: Free to Choose (there's a video serial too, you can find it on YouTube)
Adam Smith: The Wealth of Nations
George Orwell: 1984, Animal farm possibly

 libertarian (lĭbˌər-târˈē-ən)►

    n.
One who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.
    n.
One who believes in free will

A libertarian is a person who has a focus on personal freedom and contracts between individuals
NAP is a core principle
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-aggression_principle

Strong emphasis is on personal property, ownership and the individual.
Libertarians believe no one should forcefuly make decisions for you.

With those Economics results, I would kill to pick your brain. I consider myself rather clueless on economics, and this result is interesting as hell.

I think that I should've gotten a higher score in "liberty", for example, but probably the questions which would've caused this were also pro-government, pro-egalitarian, or anti-market.

I agree. I've gotten a very low score on Liberty considering my personal focus on it.

You are correct. When I registered in 2014, the vast majority of the users were Lbertarian. But the demographic make-up changed, as more and more people joined from third world nations such as Pakistan and Indonesia. Now I guess the majority of the users are religious.

I don't think people from 3rd world countries are the problem.
We have plenty of socialists in the west.

....

It's rather interesting to see how the quiz works as you have gotten a 75% on Liberty, while Theymos and myself were rated at around 62-57%.
1035  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: April 27, 2018, 02:55:32 AM
The community has become less libertarian as it has expanded, which is disappointing, but not really unexpected. IMO Bitcoin is still a force for freedom regardless, though.

Indeed.
I had thought about this a few times.
Will bitcoin grow slowly, and slowly absorb the newcomers into the old base or will it grow so rapidly to completely change the base of its users..
Yepp, no matter who uses it, it is and always will be a tool that provides the freedom from goverment internvention, seizure and inflation.

My results were -
Centrist :

Economic Axis : Centrist | Equality 44.5% | Markets 55.5%
Diplomatic Axis: Patriotic | Nation 63.8% | World 36.2%
Civil Axis : Moderate | Liberty 56.9% | Authority 43.1%
Societal Axis : Progressive | Tradition 34.6% | Progress 65.4%

Doesn't matter what you are, as long as you're not a socialist  Cheesy
Markets are a bit up, nation is quite strong, liberty - authority ratio is good, you could be a libertarian, but gotta work on that economic axis  Tongue
I would probably ignore the societal axis, since the questions seemed to be weird.
For example: Do you think we should favor traditions over progress (I believe it was something simmilar), almost pointless.
1036  Economy / Gambling / Re: Flash News Wild Crypto. Airdrop, new games, world cup?? on: April 27, 2018, 12:29:05 AM
Hey guys,

Two messages today to two different forums - sorry if you feel that this is too much. Point taken though.

https://www.wildcrypto.com/

http://wildtoken.com/

Sorry for scarcity of information, I falsely assumed most knew about wild and was sparing the fundamentals to get the brief updates out. If there is any information from the white paper (eg token mechanics, economy or scale), telegram or reddit that needs some clarification - I'm happy to do my best Smiley

For more immediate details on the roadmap - for a timeline for the flash announcements,

https://twitter.com/WildCrypto/status/977190124508405762

many thanks

It's a big forum and WildCrypto is a new and not relatively popular website, 99.5% of people don't know about it.

You need to present this information in the original post and not here.
Edit it.

You never know what you might hear, even the most fanatical people can sometimes make good points.

Really?  Can someone make a good point about the existence of Santa Claus?

You never know man, you never know..
There's a 0.01% chance to hear a life-changing point, but if there's a 1000 things you're certain about, you never know.
10% is something not to throw away.

Btw, I remember we had this same discussion a couple years back, you posted some of your old replies and I read through them
That time my beliefs were a bit shaken if I remember it correctly
I was very young back then and I was having a lot of arguements at home for not believing

I've found he is too dense to accept anything that hasn't been pounded into his brain over thousands of sundays...

Best just to put him on ignore.

He is a too deep into it, and doesn't really listen to the other side.

But it's always good to hear other peoples opinions, even if I believe they have no relation to reality.
You never know what you might hear, even the most fanatical people can sometimes make good points.
1040  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What's your political orientation? on: April 26, 2018, 11:54:52 PM
I have no idea what my political orientation is. I've been struggling for years to figure it out. Most people would probably think that makes me a centrist, but I'm unsure. I've been listening to social/political commentary from every angle that I can possible find and I still cannot pinpoint my orientation to any meaningful degree.

How do you define these things?

Have you tried taking a quiz?
Might be helpful.

8values seems to be the most popular quiz around
https://8values.github.io/

The only negative thing I see is that Tradition is listed against Progress as in those two oppose eachother and can't go hand in hand
