1401  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 18, 2015, 12:53:45 PM

what is wrong with the bears... price is rising with no volume..

that's kinda usual pre-dump movement for bitcoin.

 Wink

Someone mentions bear and THE bear turns up!

This forum needs bears. It would be so boring without.

So lets get to the point then, who is he?
1403  Economy / Economics / Re: 2014 Poll: How many bitcoins do you own? on: May 18, 2015, 12:40:17 PM
I am one of the poor on the forum and I have less than 10  Undecided

most people here don't even have 0.2 bitcoin and you say with 10 bitcoins you're poor? i seriously doubt you are serious. keep trolling.

Everything is relative, the Winklevoss guys have 100,000 BTC, yes he is poor compared to them  Wink

and i swear that the twins, find themselves poor too, everyone want always more, no matter how many we have, we would find our situation disparate in any case

i consider my holding poor too, because i wanted at least 100, but i'm still at halfway through

50 is an awesome amount. That is a great position.

1405  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: May 17, 2015, 09:32:47 PM
Thanks for that. I haven't only asked Mr Pietila. In the past I have listened to many opinions.

It's definitely a tricky one!

Yup. It's a beast of a decision but your present comfort zone is far more important than a theoretical future.

30 BTC puts you far ahead of most people posting here already. If it does seep across the world there'll likely never be more than 5-6 million people who can own more, probably considerably less when lost/Satoshi/whale coins are taken into account. That's a fine place to be.

I could get to 100 coins myself but I'm not doing it because that might compromise future possibilities if it does go totally wrong. I figured out what I was comfortable with and stuck to it even though the urge is strong to go deeper. You gotta resist it.

Good advice. I will stick to my original plan and keep doing what I am doing.

Rpietila, do you think it's possible for people getting in to Bitcoin now to make big profits in the future ... Or should I say have great purchasing power using btc in let's say 5-10 years time?

I know that thousands of btc is not an option anymore and even owning 100 bitcoins for most is near on impossible so for the average family man (ie, me) what do you feel would be a good amount to hold?

My personal goal is to reach 30 btc before it reaches over the $300 mark which I am aware could happen in a blink of an eye as could $150.

I only invest what I can afford to lose and I am lucky as I am in a fairly decent position to be able to do this.

I must also add that I am sure there is a number of btc most people don't want to hold over just yet. Let's say I have 5 btc, that's roughly $1200. I wouldn't be too bothered losing that as it wouldn't affect me too much.
If I had 100btc would I be brave enough to keep holding it? I mean that's about $24k and I'd be pretty upset if Bitcoin failed and I lost the lot!

There are some brave people here but I do believe very much in high risk could bring high reward! Not many get rich playing Mr safe.
1408  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: May 17, 2015, 05:31:32 PM
I might pick up a couple of thousand XMR. If it takes off I can quit my day job too. That's the goal.

Also keep stacking Bitcoin. I want a minimum of 30 before it goes above $300

I think you'll find that's not one of the poor. I think 10+ is a good position.
1410  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: May 16, 2015, 10:17:21 PM
Goldman Sachs predicts 1,2 bilions USD in bitcoin market . It is 50 000 USD for 1 BTC in future  Grin
1.2 billion would be about a third of the marketcap today...

Maybe he is not native english and has mistaken billion with trillion. This would be the case in german for instance.

interesting, so "trillion" is called "billion" in german.
Confusing as heck for US folks.
I see... billion is called milliard(e).
Further, next one after is billiard (10^12), then trillion (10^18 instead of US 10^12).
so european trillion =a million of american trillions

Not all of Europe. Unless I am being a total retard 1000 billion in the UK is a trillion

yeah, probably just continental
I wonder if a bank in France tries to pay a "billion" to UK, someone might get unhappy, LOL

Well they can send it to me and I guarantee I won't be unhappy no matter if the amount of zeros aren't correct!!

A trillion dollar market cap would be the most amazing thing to see. I hope to see this one day.

What pisses me off is the UK government are not interested in Bitcoin...

But if anyone makes a big profit from btc they are happy to have a slice of what you've made.

Wankers

What if you never convert to fiat? What happens then?

I am thinking years down the line where 1-5 btc could possibly buy a decent house and you buy it with btc and not fiat. If you are holding 50btc + do you not get taxed on it then?

1414  Economy / Economics / Re: 2014 Poll: How many bitcoins do you own? on: May 16, 2015, 09:23:57 PM
I owns less then 1 bitcoin
add option to poll for less then 1 bitcoin, a lot of members owns less then 1

i think i will never own more than 1 BTC

What do you do for work? Can you not save a small amount each week to buy some btc?

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/honduras-build-land-title-registry-using-bitcoin-technology-162701917.html

RALLY

hahaha... "blockchain technology company"

Quote
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Honduras, one of the poorest countries in the Americas, has agreed to use a Texas-based company to build a permanent and secure land title record system using the underlying technology behind bitcoin, a company official said late Thursday.
Factom, a U.S. blockchain technology company based in Austin, Texas, will provide the service to the government of Honduras, the firm's president, Peter Kirby, said. The company is doing the project with Epigraph, a title software company that uses blockchain technology, also based in Austin.
Factom would not reveal the cost of the project. Honduras would become only the second government to use blockchain, which increases transparency in a transaction, to manage government data, after reports that the Isle of Man would test a government-run blockchain project.

yo REUTERS... It's THE blockchain. The BITCOIN blockchain.

The country of Honduras land registry is about to be secured by Bitcoins.

 Shocked

All those retards are doing a good job in trying to separate blockchain from Bitcoin, to keep people away from investing on Bitcoin while it's cheap, so the whales can keep storing cheap as 200 USD a BTC coins until it goes ridiculously higher. Well, what can I say? most people seem to be more worried about keeping up with the Kardashians than learning why they must be learning about Bitcoin right now and owning at least 1, so fuck them, let us benefit while we can and rewarded since we weren't wasting our time, be it buying cheap BTC or both doing that and creating silly FUD posts to try to keep the price low for as long as possible.

Can someone explain to me (the non techy guy) how Nasdaq plans to play around using the blockchain without using bitcoin? Briefly, how does this work?

I am not even going to pretend to be a tech expert. I just enjoy investing and loitering in this forum.
1416  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020? on: May 16, 2015, 10:21:39 AM
I  think bitcoin price wll be around 10000 and more  USD in next year because big economy colaps. EUR and USD currency drop down and BTC increase value  to 10k

So if the dollar and euro drop we are down to the same old argument.....

If that actually happened, what would be the purchasing power of that 10k? I guess not a lot

I hope I can buy an English castle here in the next 10 years! (Or maybe just pay off my mortgage)

I hope you will be able to afford the mansion tax that has been mentioned recently.

I thought that was labour.

"If we are to oppose vigorously a mansion tax, we must rapidly come up with an alternative solution before we cede these contentious and important matters to Labour and the Liberal Democrats. It is not difficult to frame this debate in a distinctly ‘Conservative’ way."

http://conservativehome.blogs.com/platform/2013/02/from-markfieldmp-1.html

I don't have to worry with my bungalow. I'll worry about that when I have the mansion eventually!

I wish you all the luck during the next price rise so you can do the renovation work.
