I feel if it takes off and makes you rich you will find a lot of people may resent you. Unfortunately people like people to fail generally.
I have seen this recently with an old work colleague who won £1million last year on the lottery. Everyone was slating him and saying nasty things. (He is actually an arsehole but that's not my point)
Jealously is an awful thing.
The people who will do this most will be the close friends who laughed at you buying Bitcoin and never listened to you when you tried to explain the benefits over fiat and the possibilities it could bring you in the future.
They will kick themselves. I won't be that arsehole though......I will let them sit in my Lamborghini for as long as they want as I am a nice guy.

Well, people can chill out about the block size. It will be upgraded soon. And I am sick of hearing about how Gox forged the price in 2013. The price was the price: shut up already. At the next bubble you idiot trolls will be saying that it's only wild speculators 'faking' the price and driving it up... It's not really that high. FACT: People were buying and selling bitcoin for that price. FACT: That pattern falls into the same fractal as the other bitcoin price movements. FACT: The peak of the next bubble will surprise almost everyone who will think it's *way* too high. So if most people think the peak will be $8,000 you can expect the peak to be $20,000. FACT: Mastercard is a fucking idiot for hiring you trolls instead of using that money to figure out to profit from bitcoin.
I am a big fan of facts.... Especially fact 3

Looking forward to the price increasing this year.
Possibly?

I've invested about 25% of my net worth into BTC. I don't want or expect any return from it in the short term.
I'm happy to wait at least 10 years to hopefully see a major return on my investment.
Fingers crossed hey, that's all we can do.
I have seen quite a few of your posts and it seems we have the same attitude/plan towards btc. I am investing what I can for the long term too. I wouldn't say I have 25% of my net worth in btc but I am willing to keep adding so in 10 years I will be in a very good position IF it rockets. Obviously there is the possibility of having bugger all if it fails! I will take my chances, keep buying and carry on my life regardless!

I think I'll maybe just do what Danny suggested above. Create new paper wallets every 5-6 years & transfer balances.
Easy enough.
Plus let's be honest we should know in 10 years if bitcoin is going to be a huge success any way. So I'll be either selling most of mine at a very high price or keeping paper wallets that are worth nothing.
I guess you are doing the same as me. Either have lots of purchasing power with all your btc in the years to come.......or............have a load of worthless numbers in a wallet. I am in this for the long haul.

$30,000.00 USD because a) This would still be less than the change in 2013, and b) What would be the point of winning if the current trend hasn't changed by then? This is my favourite one :-)

Yeah ok I'll buy you whatever you want with my money dear hero member.
$2000 isn't a lot with regards to the profit or upside gold can give back. Btc could go up many times.
Gold? Near term I can't see more than a 5 x increase even if we have an ecnomic crisis. Hardly life changing.
Silver would give a better investment due to being around 75.1 with gold at present. So no, I wouldn't invest 2k into gold.
Enough with the attitude my friend
says the man with the weirdest attitude towards money ive seen in years... ....turning a grand into 5 is hardly life changing after all Best Of Luck OP Well I seem to have done ok in life my friend.

$2000 isn't a lot of money. I believe it wouldn't be enough to invest in physical gold.
I'd go for Bitcoin and take the risk. No one got anywhere in life playing it safe.
If you can live with the fact that it COULD go to zero then do it.
I have and will again.

Although many liars & bag holders start talking about the moon again and again and again and again .. in the current repeatedly dead cat bounces, I am sure bitcoin price will hit it's 2 years new low to sub $50 - $100 with all these fake recovers bull-traps. More merchants accept fiat from bitpay, more vc money flowed into making money business from bags holding bitcoiners but strictly stay away from bitcoin itself, the lower bitcoin price will be. GBTC & ETF & Sweden ETN are/will be jokes. Bitcoin is going back to where it comes from, worthless. So much wisdom

Not yet! There are some underlying issues needed to be addressed before the masses adoption! Such as security issues, easy application, regulation, mining centralization, price volatility etc. PPl basically want the secured ,easy to use , appreciated currency,
Exactly. We also need some prunning or compression for Bitcoin Core. Syncing taking hours isn't really helping. It will take a few more years till the infrastructure is ready for mainstream adoption. When some people don't know how to do something simple as take a screenshot on their PC, how do you expect them to use something as complicated as Bitcoin? How do you take a screen shot of your pc? ;-)

Meh, could be worth a shot, but the BBC actively censor stuff that doesn't fit with their overall narrative, so if they decide Bitcoin is for drug dealers/terrorists/peadophiles then that's what they'll roll with.
Lets not forget the BBC is a paedophile hiding organization i dont think they'd have any problems on that front. Fantastic comment! This is so true. So many got away with it for so many years. Sickening
