22  Economy / Reputation / Re: Kawbet belongs to 1xbet/1xbit (known scammers) - Plz support flag! on: March 09, 2020, 12:06:06 PM
I agree with @logfiles's conclusion of Betb2b being owned by 1xbet but that still doesn't explain why Kawbet is using the deposit addresses used by 1xbit... IMO @royse777 explanation doesn't really explain why they would use the same addresses as pointed out by others that other operators using the same script are actually in control of the funds. I do have a theory on why Kawbet might be using 1xbit's deposit addresses... It's most likely that Kawbet owes 1xbet money and they will first recover those funds by being in control of funds deposited at Kawbet and once the amount due has been paid off they will get control over the deposits and withdrawals... As @Royse777 mentioned these scripts do cost a lot upfront so it's plausible that Kawbet got into an agreement of sorts with 1xbet where they are allowed to use their script but not have control over the funds which are being deposited... But if this is the case it doesn't paint a positive image of Kawbet, if they can't afford the script with an upfront payment then how in the world are they offering up to 7 BTC Deposit Bonus...  Huh Unless this script costs in millions which I doubt it does doesn't really help Kawbet's case here...

24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not an article about Bitcoin: "I accidentally sent £1,000 to the wrong account" on: March 09, 2020, 06:50:49 AM
Hmm, this is interesting... I always thought the chargeback was a simple process and the recipient had no control over it whatsoever... I went on a bit of statistic hunt after reading this, I did find some interesting numbers. A quarter of Vibepay's userbase had accidentally sent money to a wrong account and around 1 out of 10 people had done it last year. The number which surprised me is that 28% of these people never were able to recover their money... Given what @avikz has mentioned that there are certain legal routes which can be taken, I don't know why this figure is that high or can be justified altogether... Do people really don't care about their money? Or was it negligible amounts that weren't worth pursuing... Unfortunately, the stats weren't clear on that... But it still sends a wrong kind of image for the banks if they pride themselves of being safer than bitcoin...

I have finally decided to get this mining ASIC machine for bitcoin mining, and yes my final electricity rate is Rs.6.95 per unit.

Quote from: TheBitcoinChauffeur
The electricity cost is approximately RS.6 upto 300 units.

So which one is it? You just contradicted yourself... 300 units is too low! Given S17+ consumes 2680 watts of electricity you will be using up around 2.7 units per hour... Your miner alone will consume around 65 units per day and for a month this figure will reach around 1944 units! and if you are mining at your house you will have to add in the additional units of what your appliances will consume... Visit the website of your energy supplier and check how they charge you for additional units consumed over 300 units... Don't make uninformed decisions...

Quote from: TheBitcoinChauffeur
Also, for how many years will ASICs like S17+ Work?? Can it work viably upto 3 years??

There is no magic number, it may break on you the day it arrives or a decade down the line.

Quote from: TheBitcoinChauffeur
Also, can you guys recommend a good source for getting ever information and basics about bitcoin and ethereum mining??

youtube...
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Setting Up A Bitcoin Mining Rig As A Begineer In India on: March 08, 2020, 06:54:10 AM
Not an 'expert' of any sort but I did mine as a hobby. First of all, there is no such thing as an expected ROI timeframe with mining. Bitcoin's price fluctuates way too often to calculate an accurate estimate. E.G one of my mining rigs paid itself in a timeframe of 4 months while the other did in almost 1 year and 5 months... Also, are you sure about $0.09 KW/h? I made a mistake when I started mining, I thought my cost was around $0.05 KW/h but it turned out it was progressive billing of sorts, Once I consumed over 500 Units the cost almost doubled, so be sure you know all of your T&Cs of your energy supplier so there are no surprises down the line.

At the current pace expecting an ROI in a year is way too optimistic IMO, Unless as I said before bitcoin's price doubles or moons again and you will have your ROI in no time... But it's a risk like all other investments. An S17+ will give you a profit of around a dollar a day so that's like 30 bucks of profit each month, you will only make around $300 by the end of the year nowhere near your investment and given the mining difficulty always rises over time this estimated figure will only go down... One way would be to sell the miner at the end of the year but usually, the prices of ASICs do drop sharply and especially when there is no demand in your region you have no choice but to hold on them... So make sure there is demand in your region for ASICs so that you can divest your investment if needed.

If you just want to get a feel of how mining works and aren't comfortable with handling the risk of a large investment, get a GPU mining rig instead of an ASIC, you will be able to sell the GPUs easier in your marketplace as compared to an ASIC to recover your investment... Make sure you have accounted for most variables which can affect your ROI timeframe and you should have a pretty smooth sailing... As suggested by others Follow the Mining sub-board you will find quite useful stuff in there... Good luck!

Lol, I have been lurking in this thread for a few days and I'm surprised no one understands that Luck is a metaphysical concept... You can't use the scientific method to draw conclusions. You might even make a study where a person eats their own shit and gets lucky... I bet ya over time you will find a correlation between eating your own shit and getting lucky! But this will be circumstantial evidence at best, this has nothing to do Science and that is not how science works... LOL! I can't even keep a straight face while writing this shit... If anyone believes anything written in that article needs to go back to school...

Be careful several of them don't resist at all to fire or to shock...

To be fair Jameson put all of them through double the amount of heat than they were originally advertised for... A house fire won't reach temperatures of 2500 F which he used as the control variable in all the test, It's like applying a force of 40 Tons to something which is advertised to only sustain a force of 20 tons. Solutions like of Bitkee survived these extreme scenarios, he gave an A to them so they work in the real world if you ask me. What I don't get is the pricing of these metal tiles... I don't know who they are targetting at that price range. If its people who own less than 1 BTC in total, they won't be investing in this as the price doesn't make any sense and if it's for people who own more than 10 BTC then there are far better ways to store than these cheap metal tiles...
29  Other / Meta / Re: A board for Privacy? on: March 06, 2020, 08:40:11 AM
@philipma1957 There are so many threads currently sitting in the beginner and help section which really belong in a privacy board. E.G this thread which I created a while ago it's about privacy, It doesn't belong in the board it is currently in... News about data leaks etc could be posted in the privacy board and so on... Stories like of Jameson Lopp could be shared there, how he created an identity[1] which isn't linked to him... I don't think its a subject which doesn't have enough stuff to talk about as pointed by others as well...

30  Other / Meta / A board for Privacy, Security, and online Safety? on: March 06, 2020, 04:03:28 AM
I created a thread a few days ago in the gambling discussion board. Basically we were discussing the issue of KYC with online Crypto casinos. The topic kinda derailed into a conversation about the issue of privacy and why people don't take their privacy seriously... My argument was that people don't hear about why privacy is important and how to take care of their privacy both in the online and offline world neither on the media or on Internet. An average joe only comes across mere VPN ads and nothing beyond that...  At that point, I realized we don't have a dedicated board for Privacy-related discussions and suggested for one in the thread... @o_e_l_e_o kinda agreed with me. Hence why this thread... Should we have a dedicated board for privacy Privacy, Security, and Online Safety? If not why so?

edit: update from Privacy only to Privacy, Security, and Online Safety thanks to @o_e_l_e_o for the suggestion.

Or that he might be under orders by "someone" to troll the Bitcoin community. Plus he's selling his shitcoin to innocent newbies, making millions from them.

I don't see it as trolling but rather a strategy to divide the bitcoin community up... It's the classic strategy at play here, Divide and conquer.  I mean think about it who benefits if the bitcoin community and can't even decide on which fork is the real bitcoin or Satoshi's bitcoin? what kind of message does it send to the masses? As someone who is just dipping their toes in the world of cryptos might get confused from the get-go when everyone is claiming to be the Satoshi's Bitcoin...

It's the bankers and governments who benefit off from this... As bitcoin is a threat to traditional banking and traditional form of governments. They might be backing these individuals up because at the end of the day they benefit the most if you ask me...

34  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can artists earn Bitcoins ? on: March 05, 2020, 04:26:49 AM
I'm surprised no one has suggested you to sell merch... I haven't come across interesting merch which stands out in ages... All I have seen is some tees which have generic quotes on them... No real designed stuff. There are many platforms out there which will print your designs for you all you have to do is send them your designs... Since you are a digital artist I'm sure you will be able to come up with unique designs. You can sell posters, Tees hoodies sky is the limit if you ask me...

All this guy does is copy-paste articles in the press section.
Somehow that's more or less allowed on the Press board, but he also does it on other boards. Those topics can be reported as "advertising", which isn't allowed.

Agreed! But even if it's allowed it's not about the threads themselves but rather the farming he has been doing for ages... I still believe the guy deserves a warning given his spam-ish behaviour... I pmed @hilariousandco asking for his thoughts on this, @Cheezcarls got warned I believe so will @zakoliverz...

Ok, fair enough. But the fact they haven't responded to a scam accusations against their casino, in the correct thread, seems very shady to me. I appreciate that others have voluntarily posted this here, but the casino should really be responding directly here imo, if they have nothing to hide as it were.

Could be because people hardly visit this board? Why bother spamming the forum with the same responses on two threads?

Quote from: dragonvslinux
My concern is they are not willing to have an accused account prove their identity, which sounds ridiculous like they want that 5BTC quite a lot!

KYC can be bought as @Lauda mentioned. So even if the OP is willing to verify the 2nd identity it doesn't mean much... As the Betting behaviour is a dead giveaway considering that @amelik2's account was inactive for 8 months and the day he got banned on @PatDugan, he revived his alt-account and went about his business as usual. I can totally see why they denied a KYC to @amelik2...

Quote from: dragonvslinux
Somebody tell me if the usual standard for casinos is to take people's winnings (if you don't lose it yourself). If so, then this is sad to say the least, and it's a shame a casino hasn't surfaced in the past 10 years that protects it's customers better. Whether the OP is a multi-accouter or not becomes irrelevant at this point, the customer standards of this casino appear very low to me. At minimum, they need to update their T&Cs to make things clearer, at best provide brief warnings/guidlines on each of the casinos games.

Unfortunately, this is the industry-standard. I started a thread recently and it turns out your average punter doesn't gives a fuck about T&Cs or their privacy in general. Also, there are no regulatory bodies which protect them which I believe is due to lobbying. It's a pretty lucrative business in this day and age. You can pretty much bail yourself out in case you are about to go bust, all you need to do is insert some fake logs in your database and you are saved... There is a massive gap in the market and not everyone is informed about the subject, So there isn't much which can be done at this point except spreading awareness about decentralized betting exchanges and casinos...

Didn't want to revive my Policy on users like this? thread so I'm posting it here... So the user @zakoliverz woke up after an inactivity period of almost 4 years. All this guy does is copy-paste articles in the press section. In fact, all he has ever done on bitcointalk is share articles besides his few newbie posts. Never bothered to discuss anything after he created the threads or participated in other threads. I think it was acceptable in the past to do this as he has participated in a few sig campaigns and didn't get kicked, I believe he still thinks he will get away with this. The guy needs a warning I believe... mods thoughts?

They don't want to accept documentation, instead attempt to control the narrative of discussion by refusing to post in this thread, instead only posting in their own ANN?
Yikes.

Maybe it is because the OP accused them in their thread as well? Did you even bother reading this? Looks pretty conclusive evidence to me, unless you are hyper skeptic of some sort then I can't help ya... Also logging in from two different IPs at the same time isn't even an issue these days... Jeez! why are we even trying to discuss this when the OP was allowed to withdraw his deposit and move on...
40  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-01] Bitcoin & Top Crypto Assets Just Made A Brief Appearance on: March 04, 2020, 04:45:50 AM
I read about this couple of days ago, I just fucking love how Hollywood operates on certain subjects. E.G the terrorists are always brown guys or Arabs. Middle east is always shown as something undeveloped, people living in tents and shit and with Cryptocurriencies they are always linked with some illicit activity... They also fail to do their research on things which they are trying to portray. Like what I find funny is that in this episode the prices are written on a small chalkboard when it is supposed to be the year 2300... LOL! Glad to know the chalkboards are still around and the Crypto market has finally settled down since prices are apparently static... Or maybe they wanted to portray the unstable nature of cryptocurrencies, suggesting the prices are updated every day if this was their motive there are far better ways of showing that...

I just fucking hate these people. They have budgets of millions of dollars for each project and they can't even do their research properly... sigh!
