And remember the basic rule. If something seems too good to be true,  then it probably is not true.

See this reply I gave to a guy who also had a1246 problem.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The most profitable crypto/software to mine with a gaming pc on: January 10, 2025, 03:40:14 PM
You are asking about altcoins, since with PC it makes no sense to mine btc. Btc mining nowadays is only carried out with ASICs.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Canaan Avalon mini 3 & nano 3S [unofficial thread] on: January 09, 2025, 05:18:43 PM
I grabbed one of these (the Mini 3)! It was from a distributor which was listed at Canaan.io (Mineshop).

I see this one as a very interesting continuation in 800-1000 W power area home miner. Previous very common one in these was Antminer R4, and a lot of time has passed after that.

I plan to use my one for a solo 'lottery' mining.

I may even do a write-up for this,  which I haven't done in a long time. Smiley

6  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon A1246 Repair Manual on: December 18, 2024, 12:06:54 AM
Hi there,
you can check my rather old Avalon troubleshooting guide if it helps a little with the Cgminer API log codes (link is in my signature).

Also found this info about Avalon 10 series.
After the 10 series it seems that they have stopped updating their public git at the Github.
https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/avalon10-docs/blob/master/Universal%20API/Avalon%20A10%20API%20manual-EN.md

edit:
I also found the Avalon 1246 manual at Zeusbtc. They have archived lots of documentation which can be useful.

7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Miners that make money with Lighting Network of Bitcoin!!! on: December 12, 2024, 02:40:05 PM
Please take things like this with a grain of salt, and very carefully.

Based on what I've seen here, doesn't give me reliable feeling yet.
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Ordered a s21xp today. Problem arose! and fixed! on: December 11, 2024, 04:43:18 PM
Phil, I came from my 'hiatus' to say that I noticed via a LinkedIn post that Bitmain is going to manufacture the S21 in the US. Any thoughts on that?  Smiley

Cheers,  and all the best.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Build anno 2024 on: November 07, 2024, 08:12:57 PM
You can use your PC only for mining some altcoins. Not BTC.

11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 1246 PSU CABLE WARMS UP on: August 08, 2024, 06:57:18 AM
I found few C19 -> Type F 3x2.5mm2 cable options (presuming that you live in an area in Europe where you want Type F plug).
They are a bit special and only crypto mining operators use them.
For "regular" server guys, the 1.5mm2 cores are usually enough.

12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: new GekkoScience 'Mein Coffee' 700 gh/s Miner on: August 07, 2024, 09:35:23 PM
Hello.
Is it possible to buy it through Aliexpress?
I'm afraid it won't be possible to deliver it directly to my country, due to sanctions and other policies(
Maybe you Russians should do something to stop that piece of shit known as Putin.

The minute he and his war shit is gone, the sanctions will drop.

I'm so done listening Russian citizens saying it's not us, it's Putin.
YOU'RE THE ONES KEEPING HIM IN POWER.

Sorry guys, *end of rant*.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Still Possible to Mine Bitcoin in 2024 with a Single High-End GPU? on: August 07, 2024, 09:29:36 PM
Ei perkele,
still this same question year after year after year. Cheesy

I've got nothing else to say but to agree with what guys already replied to you.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: new GekkoScience 'Mein Coffee' 700 gh/s Miner on: July 29, 2024, 10:21:26 PM
This sounds like a very sweet idea!

I just recently signed a contract for new job, starting in autumn, and it will be very much an indoors office job.
What better start for my desk setup than this cool piece of gear. Cheesy

And crazy to think how fast gear has developed..
I started ten years ago with a big ass Antminer S2 and now close to same hash power will fit in a neat small coffee mug warmer brick.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: (Review/Guide) AvalonMiner 821 11.0 Th/s, 1200W Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner on: April 28, 2024, 02:36:32 PM
@deusopus
Sorry for a late reply, I'm not too frequently active here nowadays.
Can you post your Cgminer API log? And I mean the full log one (there was a tick box or something to choose less or more detailed log).
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which Old Miners did You Like? on: April 21, 2023, 10:27:46 PM
Choosing favorites from all generations and manufacturers and models which I've tried... Oof that is a tough question! Cheesy

I'm gonna reply with my current gut feeling and say Antminer S2 and Avalon 841!

I liked the big 19" server case and big cards in S2, it cooled very effectively with not much fan speed/noise. The size of it is also an important memory, I really felt being in the mining biz when I had such a big box in the shelf! Cheesy

A841 I like it for all the tweaking I've done with it and its tank like structure.

Which miners sucked the most you might ask... i'm gonna say that Ebang Ebit gear was very rubbish and they had poor customer service.
17  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: avalon 1246 no internet on: February 20, 2023, 05:41:06 PM
@braa77
Is the switch device and ETH cable in ok condition?
Have you tried another device in place of the A1246 to see if same problem occurs?
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 1246 warranty check on: November 10, 2022, 10:22:37 PM
Nice, thanks x93. Smiley

This was one of the rare occasions when there was a really good reason to wake up an old thread.

@cmccue49
Is your Antminer R1 model the one which can do Bitcoin mining?
I guess that firmware update is created for the R1 Bitcoin model.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience has a new stickminer that does 300+GH on: September 04, 2022, 09:45:27 AM
@cygan
After -o comes the pool server address and after -u your username.

Please see the instructions which are referred at sidehack's opening post (Kano's instructions https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355470.msg58200639#msg58200639 ).
