581  Economy / Speculation / Re: There will only be 21 million on: November 12, 2015, 11:17:55 PM
That's a new and interesting number. /sarcasm

Please stop trying to pump. You're not going to succeed. We all know the limitations on bitcoins. If you have nothing new to add, don't say it.

It's not about pumping, it's about reminding the obvious, which sometimes it's a very good thing to do, because people tend to forget.
1 million, 7.3 billion people and growing. There will not be 1 BTC for everyone. I don't think what this means is fully understood yet.

This should tell anyone with a brain to buy and hold for 10 years.
582  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: November 12, 2015, 11:07:47 PM
If signatures didn't swing his rates this much then maybe it would be worth the effort, but (since sig campaings are the only way I know to actually make BTC) I will keep working my daily job and buying monthly. Sig campaigns lower their rates when the prices up down and remain like that unless the price goes down again and stays there.
583  Economy / Economics / Re: How limited supply economy like BTC can be BOTH INFLATION and DEFLATION on: November 12, 2015, 11:05:26 PM
I don't know the details but as I understand Bitcoin is inflationary until 2140, but the rate gets decreased a lot and at about 2025 the inflation % is so small that is negligible. The rate of coins being lost forever will be even bigger than the newly mined coins which means it will be deflationary even if we aren't past 2140 yet.

584  Economy / Economics / Re: Catalonia MPs Vote for Secession on: November 12, 2015, 11:01:10 PM
I don't know how this works, I didn't even knew what Catalonia was and had to Google it. Precisely because of this i think it would be negative for them, Spain is a much more recognized name worldwide, as opposite to Catalonia which like I said before required me to Google it (I knew Barcelona but not Catalonia).
585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin movies on: November 12, 2015, 10:59:22 PM
Dope was a mainstream movie where they talked about Bitcoin at some point dark web too. Ulterior States was a nice documentary and "Life on Bitcoin" was on CNN and explained the life of a reporter trying to survive on Bitcoin for like a week. All pretty entertaining. Not very informative tho to any experienced user, lectures and speeches by Greg Maxwell, Andreas etc are better to actually learn.
586  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: you think Trezor is a safe way for bitcoin ! on: November 12, 2015, 10:55:14 PM
hey , i think every one know trezor or most of people atleast. to put your btc into a wallet trezor its good way , but have you never think about if trezor shutdown ? there is some people who will say thats its big company , yes i know but MTgox too was a good company and at the end they stoped.

is there any other way to use your btc when trezor stoped ? i mean do i can use my btc if trezor stoped and shutdown ?

I dont see a reason to trust Trezor or any other hardware wallet. Because is not meant for third party trust. Simply move your coins to a paper wallet generated by Coinb.in in an offline computer for cold storage. For regular usage, keep small amount your coins in a Copay mobile wallet. Both are open source and no third party trust required.

I think Trezor is generally a good idea if you are going to be using the coins in your cold storage more often than just putting them inside and forgetting about them, but if I wanted actual cold storage, paper wallet with BIP38 encryption personally remains the undisputed champion.
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Methods of growing your Bitcoin? on: November 12, 2015, 10:53:11 PM
How many sites are you using for growing your bitcoins??

I think you should make a separate thread for your question..

Anyways just to answer your question, right now I am using 4 sites to grow my bitcoins, one is of course bitcointalk.org and the others were HYIP sites (I dont wanna disclose their names as I may be accused of promoting them).

Aren't all HYIP basically ponzi scams? I have tried to put my stack to use several times but I end up thinking that im going to end up getting screwed and I might as well just hold them and keep making more at a slower pace but steadily accumulating them instead of putting my hard earned BTC at risk.
588  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you buying bitcoins? Why? on: November 12, 2015, 10:51:14 PM
Because I am FORCED to buy at this point. If you look at the geopolitical situation, the economy, if you look long term, you know you need something that is outside the system, and this edge in it's ultimate form is Bitcoin, forget gold, now it's the #2.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Patrick Byrne, CEO of overstock.com and t0.com is doing an AMA RIGHT NOW! on: November 12, 2015, 10:46:52 PM
This guy is great, it was the first one to go big with Bitcoin as a merchant of high volume, everyone else was scared to take that first step. I am glad he is still positive with Bitcoin and continues accepting it unlike Microsoft which apparently stopped accepting BTC (and they will look like idiots once they are forced to go back to accepting it again).
590  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying bitcoins in the UK on: November 12, 2015, 10:44:41 PM
Localbitcoins is always a solid option specially in UK where you shouldn't have problems finding a legit amount of good dealers. If you don't care about privacy, then any of the exchanges on the Eurozone will do.
591  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong calls the industry to fork Bitcoin Core on: November 07, 2015, 07:02:17 PM
Coinbase is like a shitty bank. Bitcoin was created to be a free system. These two , are opposite entities.

Coinbase is monitoring your transactions, it's reporting you to Feds and so on...Why would I use Coinbase instead a normal credit card?

ecause normal credit cards can monitor your transactions as well, you should get rid of everything that has to do with the fiat system, and use only a wallet to spend your bitcoin

which is what everyone use bitcoin, should do

Yeah, I don't personally understand why people don't learn the leson and just make the effort to be their own bank by controlling their own local wallet, but some people just doesn't like the idea. If I wanted to have my BTC outside, I would trust Xapo before Coinbase for sure.
592  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ransom demanded from an attacker on: November 07, 2015, 06:55:14 PM
I would never have valuable information on a Windows machine. If you do, at least just copy it to an USB and a trusted cloud somewhere on the internet (prior being encrypted with a strong pass of course). I don't understand how people fall for this ransomware crap, it doesn't seem that sophistcated, just keep your stuff updated and don't click on dodgy shit.
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Buying Steam games with BTC without getting scammed? on: November 07, 2015, 06:50:51 PM
I would like to put my BTC to use and spend some of it. As a long term holder, I tend to just hold, because I value fiat less than BTC, so I buy whatever I want with money. But the point is, it seems more convenient to use my BTC for digital stuff like games. The problem is, I cant trust serial keys outside steam, but Steam doesn't accept BTC...
How to go around this?
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are you going to spend your bitcoin on? on: November 07, 2015, 06:49:19 PM
Of course, I would like to buy real state, and rent one or two properties and life off passive income so I can just enjoy life without having to work all day until im 70 years old and my back is screwed up. Let's just hope BTC reaches 10K soon so I can pull that.
595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in your country on: November 07, 2015, 06:39:45 PM
I follow pretty closely anything that happens in my country but right now we are stuck still at calling Mark Karpeles the CEO of Bitcoin and journalist think Mt Gox hacked = Bitcoin hacked... stuff like that. It shows how beneath of the curve they are (yes im living in japan atm).
596  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price fall on: November 05, 2015, 04:18:25 PM
It peaked at 500 and is not correcting, the rise will continue, we saw this same behaviour last year in november when there were days where the price ended being inferior to the last day. Corrections must happen and I actually hope the rise is very slow because I want more BTC.
597  Bitcoin / Project Development / Suggestion: Button that check/uncheck "send this transaction anonymously" on: November 05, 2015, 04:10:02 PM
Edit: Please move this to this forum https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=6.0

So as we all know, Satoshi intended Bitcoin to be p2p cash through the internet. I still do not understand how this concept is compatible with the public ledger, unless, we use the notion of mixing inputs and outputs. I am not an expert or a coder, but I think the CoinJoin thing is pushing on this direction and have the right idea.

Of course technologies like Darkwallet sound even cooler, but, CoinJoin seems like a more simple approach and I think it could easily be implemented in Core.

My point is, everyone must be able to send a transaction anonymously if they want to, including the most average Joe of Joes out there. Therefore, a check/uncheck button next to "send" that says "send this transaction anonymously" must be added. All this would do is automate the whole process of the CoinJoin thing, so it would send your coins mixed with random people's coins in the same transaction so there is no way to know who is sending what from A to B. This coupled with confidential transactions which hide the amount of BTC moved could reach a very respectable level of anonymity for everyone and then we would be able to start talking about actual p2p cash.

We must push for a decentralized Bitcoin and as anonymous as it gets for the whole family.
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the price stuck, because blocks are full ? on: November 05, 2015, 04:00:23 PM
All of the trading that happens on exchanges never touch the blockchain, only the money that goes in and out of the exchange does and I doubt this has any relevant impact on the blocks being full or not. Only an idiot would send BTC without a recommended fee to an exchange and if you do that you will not have problems with your transaction taking too long to reach the exchange.
599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to lock bitcoin? on: November 05, 2015, 03:45:46 PM
It would require 2 of 2 multi sig key for full lock or 2 of 3 multi sig key in case you want to spend it suddenly without the limitation. Many services provide limits on spending over a period of time. Greenaddress.it has 2 of 2 multisig and they control one, you control one. Without their signature, you won't be able to spend it.
I think its better to learn to control yourself in order to save money rather than have some forced lock on your wallet. You may eventually be on a situation where you really need the money and you are stuck with a lock for X time. Bitcoin core can allow you to get your stuff encrypted so you need to put your pass everytime you want to spend, this helps.
600  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Punching Boy on: November 05, 2015, 03:42:44 PM
This guy is the archetype wallstreet whitehead dude that has been living off scamming people for big commissions since he was 22. This guy is completely out of the loop and doesn't get the fact that Bitcoin is not going to be stopped, too late. This guy suffers from status quo too big too fail syndrome and will end up like Gaddafi.
