781  Economy / Economics / Re: Just wanted to post the break down of my investments on: August 26, 2015, 02:51:10 PM
Im just getting more BTC and holding them and i have about 15% invested in other altcoins I like (about 3).
I don't see anything worth investing at. I was considering loans but it seems everyone gets scammed and people never pay back.
782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me understand Bitcoin and it's future on: August 26, 2015, 02:47:04 PM
Something to point of 1) relevant to what we are seeing with Bitcoin XT debate: The reason a lot of people don't want bigger blocks is precisely because once the blocks become way too big for most people bandwidths to deal with (HDD space is not the main problem) it will be more and more centralized and professionalized. The last thing you want is centralized nodes just like mining became centralized.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top 10 Bitcoin "facts": #1 Satoshi passed majority control of BTC to Gavin on: August 26, 2015, 02:40:04 PM
#1 Satoshi Nakamoto (cue loads of video of the California guy that was wrongly accused of Satoshi) - "Nakamoto passed majority control to scientist Gavin Andresen in late 2010"; "It's rumored that Satoshi Nakamoto is a combination of SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, and MOTOrola, but it's not confirmed"

Im  speechless

It's not far fetched that Satoshi might represent a group of people tho. I just disagree with the overall negative impression this video gives to the world and how factually wrong it is.

We need to go in there and rip it apart in the comments section. Give them all the correct information they need instead. The shills in this world, will do anything to serve their masters. Anyone want to counter that

with " The real facts about Bitcoin " video?

I think its really stretched out to fit those brands, it could have been any other brands. It could have been made with other brands if it was a different name. I dont believe the theory of "its a bunch of companies together", thats nonsense to me.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The tide is turning: Which one is the alt coin now? on: August 26, 2015, 02:37:46 PM
Nothing is turning. Please stop spreading false information. Do you know what a BIP is? Bitcoin improvement proposal? If person X supports a BIP, that does not mean that they support fork Y just because it has implemented it.
Supporting BIP 101 =/= supporting XT.

Bitpay:
Quote

Anyone that tells you otherwise is spreading FUD, less bitcoin already be an altcoin due to previous forks.
Yeah obviously people like, e.g. theymos and luke are spreading FUD.   Roll Eyes

Update:
turvarya: this is not a appeal to authority. I never stated that because of their positions they are probably correct (in anything that they say). I'm just not expecting normal people like theymos and luke to spread FUD (considering the behavioral patterns of members that actually do this). Stop twisting the debate back into attacks and nonsense.

This. It seems a lot of noobs are confusing BIP101 for XT. XT is dead at this point, no one wants to support an altcoin, and in any case, "no increase" is still the most voted option as seen on the circular graphic that encompasses all mining pools hashing power (cant find the pic)
785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell are people still selling at these prices? on: August 26, 2015, 02:35:18 PM
Even if it crashes to 100 I wouldn't sell.
The general consensus of the newcomers around here is that they are greedy and ignorant, looking to make a quick buck. I believe in what BTC stands for, and I believe it will ultimately succeed.

i also believe in bitcoin and what it stands for BUT...
how much money have you invested in bitcoin?
1, 10, 100, 1000, 10,000 USD ?
the problem is , when you invest a large amount of money in something and it starts going down or even worth it crashes down you normally would panic ans start selling to prevent further bigger losses. and if you really believe in bitcoin you would immediately buy back at lower prices if you don't want to lose the opportunity.

150,000 USD

I lost 50,000 USD if I would sell now.

The key is not to invest more than what you can afford to lose without panicking and let it play itself out.

It will either become worthless or become very valuable.

Wow are you rich? how can you risk 150,000 USD in Bitcoin? If you can afford to lose 150,000 USD they you must be a millionaire by now. Care to tell us how you got so much money?
786  Economy / Services / Re: Coinomat.com - Signature Campaign! [STARTED] on: August 26, 2015, 02:31:38 PM
Whatever I started posting for the current term. I still want to know what happened with the disappeared 9 posts of the last term. Why I got paid 0.03 when it should have been 0.040? (-0.001 because I made 1 posts here).
787  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #Blocksize Survey on: August 26, 2015, 02:29:47 PM
I think 8MB every 2 years is random as hell and insane. The blocksize should be increased in relation to the real increments of network usage, not some 8ball prediction about it and then naming it the magic 8MB every 2 year solution.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Newly Convinced That BIP100 Is The Best Solution on: August 26, 2015, 02:27:53 PM
Anything is a better solution than Bitcoin XT, so whatever happens, we'll be better off than how it would turn out with Gavincoin. As long as we stay in Core we will not get the shitty extras.
789  Economy / Services / Re: Coinomat.com - Signature Campaign! [STARTED] on: August 25, 2015, 05:58:49 PM
I made 41 posts and only got paid 0.03 for it. I doubt 11 of my posts didn't qualify since most of them are similar. What's the deal?

make sure to check http://www.bitsig.website/Coinomat/ for your current standing. if you see excluded posts... well they're excluded. rules are in the OP

Again, thats useless because the new term has begun so its reset to 0. I can't see how many posts qualified because apparently this campaign doesn't have a google spreadsheet to keep track of past payments?

Im not posting until OP solves this out.

Is the bot down again? when I enter my UID nothing shows up.

I've also realized im still wearing the coinomat signature and not the coinocard one, maybe is because of this?
Can I update it without having my post count being reset? payments are today.
i have checked your UID and the bot is working fine

Now that you point this, it seems I got paid for 30 posts (31 -1 because the last post I made when you posted that was there).
My conclusion is that they've ignored my posts after the counting phase started and they haven't moved the rest of the post I made to the next term because right now I have 0 posts to pay on the current term... OP can you solve this?

You should tell us when the counting phase tests and you should grant that the posts that don't get counted (because they are posted during the counting phase) should move to the next term automatically, otherwise a lot of people is wasting their time if they post during payday.
791  Economy / Economics / Re: Anybody Taking Bets On The Stock Market Crashing Tomorrow? on: August 24, 2015, 04:29:01 PM
Friday was a 500+ point drop, what will MOnday have in store?? I'm torn between a 300 point recovery or another 500+ drop… what you think?

Im staying away from it right now, im only focusing on Bitcoin and that's enough of an headache to keep a crypto portfolio. It's not a good time to see your portfolio go down with the goddamned XT thing causing panic. Anyway, time to stack up more cheap coins.
792  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: August 24, 2015, 04:27:32 PM
If you want to get rich there is a simple way to do it. Earn more than you spend and you are going to get rich. That is the safest way to get rich without losing all your money.
But thats pointless if what you are earning is too little, it will take too much time to enjoy your wealth. Also, most people can't save any money, they go from bill to bill.
793  Economy / Economics / Re: Whats going on? on: August 24, 2015, 04:16:21 PM
Obviously bitcoin is down, and facing some uneasiness in the near future.

Also, oil is back down and headed to $40, gold/silver is down and predicted to go lower, and stocks worldwide are crashing.  A few weeks back the NYSE hauled trading due to a "glitch".

There's no way these are all just random events.  Many have been calling for another global crash, which seems to never come, but a lot have been saying this fall specifically is when things will start to happen.  There is a lot of info on this topic out there, some political reasons, war predictions, Biblical predictions, and now a lot of strange events seeming to line up and start a lot of financial uneasiness going into September.

So what gives, is this just the start?  I also recall a graph showing very similar stock market movements happening in 1929...

It seems shits going down but we are yet to see to what extent. Im not worried unless things start to becoming really ugly. There's all this shemitah type of nonsense going on I personally think its bollocks, but who knows if actually there is a big crash near. Bitcoin should benefit, it's just the stupid XT debate that is not going to let Bitcoin fully shine in this opportunity.
794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If using cryptocurrencies become a crime, will you be a criminal? on: August 24, 2015, 04:12:56 PM
If you use a VPN, who really will check on you? Honestly.
Well the problem is it would scare away the masses and Bitcoin would remain a small niche of people using VPNs and TOR and we don't want that, we want BTC to shine all over the world and be worth a ton per coin.
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who care ? with bitcoin XT on: August 24, 2015, 04:09:50 PM
XT is already starting to die I think. They took the graphs off from xtnodes.com to not show the downtrend im sure it's not a coincidence that the graphs disappeared when it started to fall.
796  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: August 24, 2015, 04:06:16 PM
I won't pay btc just for porn.. Theres a lot website where you can download tons of porn for free.
Well actually this issue has discussed before. There are some people who want to watch it in HD quality, and I think most of free download porn websites has malwares or viruses there. And, some free porn videos arent the full length, but just some clips Undecided
Usually you can find almost anything in torrents but some of the good videos are hard to find and usually people will not want to go to the risk of downloading in torrent. Usually nothing can happen but in some countries I think downloading torrents is risky.
797  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How traceable is bitcoin? on: August 24, 2015, 04:02:25 PM
I think you are private as long as you don't convert to fiat. If you convert to fiat any other way that isn't meeting with a person irl and exchanging for cash in a irl phone transaction then it's recorded somewhere and usually to convert to fiat you need some credentials.
798  Other / Meta / Re: If you know for sure that NSA/CIA... are watching bitcointalk.org will U use it! on: August 24, 2015, 03:59:06 PM
i wonder if u got proofs that NSA/CIA/FBI/Cartoon-network/... are watching bitcointalk's members will U use it!

Thank u.

I have always assumed that NSA, CIA, FBI, are watching bitcointalk members.

I still use it, and I'm happy to announce to any of them exactly who I am and where to find me.

Same here buddy I'm not doing anything wrong either same as most on here. I'll make them a nice cup of tea if they knock on my door.

What if bitcoin is wrong and you are supporting it!
What do you mean "bitcoin is wrong"? Bitcoin it's what it is, the source is open, there's no possibility to not know what you are supporting, and it turns there is no way to hide stuff, we say it recently when XT tried to pass some anti privacy code.
799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin Core needs to die on: August 24, 2015, 03:57:34 PM
People would be pro-XT if they delivered a better solution, but they don't and they want to put all those dodgy "features" against privacy, thats why XT must die and not Core. Core is not perfect but with time Bitcoin will improve. We don't need to rush bigger blocks at all.
