1481  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: April 23, 2015, 03:27:48 PM
Right now I feel like Bitcoin is extremely undervalued. At 1K I would very, very tempted to sell like 5% off it to take a small holidays or something, since 1K is still insanely undervalued to not hold all of it.
1482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Satoshi's coins be deleted? on: April 23, 2015, 03:25:41 PM
The market wouldn't crash because there would need to be a demand high enough to absorb all these coins at once to create a bump, which I doubt. Dont be scared, satoshi will never sell anyway.
1483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: $5000 to buy BTC's on: April 23, 2015, 12:29:07 PM
if you are not based in the usa but europe then Kraken is the best, but there is a limit of 2k usd without verification(only address verification no id or proof of residency)

Then he could create 3 accounts and and do 2k, another 2k in another account and then 1K again in another account, ideally using VPN or something on each different account. Problem solved.
1484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 22, 2015, 02:47:42 PM
So we have still 8 months. Everything is possible. In my personal opinion I would say that we maybe reach the 400$ milestone in a few months, but not much higher.

While the price rally for 1000 was insanely unexpected and no one would have bet a penny that it would reach such ATH, we need to stay realistic. 10K is objectively unavoidable, but the time that will happen is indeed another story. Meanwhile, collect all that cheap BTC like there's no tomorrow.
1485  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling a five months target at $211 on: April 22, 2015, 02:46:02 PM
what are the predictions for the next 5 months?

If consolidation of a floor does not happen before mid may, I would be tempted to think we could cross 2xx. If the opposite happens, a very slow uptrend might start. Take into consideration the big players are using this long term downtrend to try to pick up as much cheap hanging fruit as possible from the clueless non-longtermers.
1486  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Price Rising To A Drop Zone? on: April 22, 2015, 02:40:09 PM
Still a downtrend to me. It will need more than that to consolidate a floor. Good news to anyone that is here for long term, it just means extra time to make your BTC stack even bigger. Let the weak hands be weak and deliver us the cheap rice.
1487  Economy / Economics / Re: The world would be better, if the US dollar... on: April 22, 2015, 02:35:08 PM
If the US Dollar dropped then the Canadian dollar would hopefully be at PAR if it doesn't drop. Better value for those north of the border to shop in the US and help stimulate the economy a bit. Mainly Washington State and Oregon (No Tax).

Forget Canadians shopping across the border; a weakening currency might actually drive exports up and help bridge the trade deficit.
This is of course assuming other countries allow their currencies to appreciate.

It's funny how Bitcoin is the only weakening currency that makes me happier the "weaker" it gets, since it only means more opportunity to get something that is insanely underappreciated because it's too new.

Im too bored about traditional currencies to try to take any advantage from their ups and downs anymore.
1488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP, newbie to all of this on: April 22, 2015, 02:24:31 PM
You don't even need to download actual software. You can create a new wallet in blockchain.info and store your coins there, even tho if you got a considerable amount it's always advices to have local backups. I use QT because im too used to it to change.
1489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspersky and INTERPOL Say Blockchain is Vulnerable on: April 22, 2015, 02:11:39 PM
Typical corporate FUD. And I don't think this is relevant for wallets that do not store your blockchain, and then again people running those that do (nodes) are knowledgeable enough to not get their computers infected.
Most average joes will be using blockchain.info or so, to deal with their BTC anyway.

1491  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: April 20, 2015, 02:51:12 PM

But in countries like India, Banks are giving 7-10% annual interest rate depending upon the amount, bank and maturity tenure. So that's not very bad compare to what you are refereeing to.

Thats being done because the inflation is eating it up. You got 1 billion people there that some need welfare, of course your government will print money.

You always have to look at the net interest rate. If you inflation is like 50% and your government gives your 51% on deposits, you dont get 51% return you only get 1% return....

So yea. If your annual interest is like 10%, then the inflation is easily 7-8%, so you also get only 2%, and good luck with that becoming rich lol....
It is not always to become rich, some people are just afraid to lose any money, they are fine with only keeping their money 'safe' in bank where it could grow a little above inflation.
Investing is about earning and saving is about security. These are 2 different things. Of course you won't get rich just by saving money...
Saving in the banks will decreased the value of your money because, as years passes by the value of the money will be increased so that if you don't spend your money that in the bank its value will decreased . Example your money is 200$ if you put it in the bank after 5-10 years maybe its value is only 180$ . So that its better to invest although there a risk.

It's best to diversify and hold a series of assets, some on BTC and some in some decent business. For the very rich it makes sense to have it on banks since they benefit decently enough from the interest rates, for the average joe is pretty useless if you want to have a chance to make decent money.
1492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom is in at $215 buying like crazy on: April 20, 2015, 02:46:34 PM
I'll be more than happy if it doesn't drop further. Currently it's like hanging on precariously to its position and if you observe the orderbook at exchangers, a lot of sell order is already in place putting the pressure with more downside expected.

There are tons of fake orders to scare the naive away. Those whales are sure having fun with the volume of this down trend. My take is a low price for a couple months while they stack that cheap BTC.
1493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Buffett was right? on: April 20, 2015, 02:42:09 PM
FIRST OF ALL We all Use Fit that FACT in Our MIND that Bitcoin IS NOT Design FOR MAKING LOCAL MONEY BUY SPECULATING

Bitcoin is Design For Use Instead of LOCAL Currency.

So STOP Using this as Personal Speculation Company Share. THIS IS NOT Company Share or Investment Firm.

Bitcoin wasn't designed with any "use" of it in mind as far as I know. It can be used as anything you want. Speculation, holding of wealth, treat it like an asset or like an actual currency. That is the beauty of it. Of course, its currency-like features are what makes it unique.
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price will not increase until 12 months before the halving. on: April 20, 2015, 02:39:50 PM
so the price will start to rise at the end of summer basically? around august? as far as i remember was never raised during the summer

The last few months have been a hard lesson in taking any 'historical' BTC data remotely seriously. It'll be made up as it's going along for a long time to come.

I've never really understood the 'sell in may and go away' thing. That makes humans sound like herd animals who migrate to the Antarctic to rut and then return to the internet in autumn.

Still, it's a predecent but a deeply weird one.
Yeah, a 101 in economics is past performance doesn't guarantee future performance. I am tho in agreement of those that view a very long stable, low price on the 2xx territory. This is great news for anyone that is in here for the long term.
1495  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: 796 lost 1,000 bitcoin on: April 20, 2015, 02:33:50 PM
What does this mean? A little lost here

After translation from google, seems that a Chinese exchange called 796 was hacked out of 1,000 BTC, by hackers switching the deposit (or withdrawal) address.. or something to that effect.

"... after detailed analysis of various logs and audit records, we found the system to update a few days ago the existence of sub-module exploited by hackers, causing the user to mention the current address has been tampered with, coupled with hackers deliberately used a similar address with the original withdrawals address to confuse users and our manual review."

Here is the google translation link I used.
https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2F8btc.com%2Fthread-13689-1-1.html&sandbox=1

You never know in cases like this, if the exchange was really hacked/stolen by a third party or if we are talking about a yet another inside job covered with the excuse of a security flaw. Cant wait for the Gemini exchange to arrive to move all of my shit over there.
1496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you enforce a smart contract on: April 20, 2015, 02:31:25 PM
When you buy something, you want to check out if the owner is really the owner. Maybe he is a swindler, and is attempting to sell you stolen property.

Wherever the property is registered, the registration could have listed in its paperwork, the corresponding smart property contract that would have to be activated before the sale is possible.

It would be something like a trust, where the trust owns the property. The thing you do when transferring trust property is to simply change the trustees. Many trusts are written so that the trustee can be changed. The new trustee is the one that now controls the property.

If the property is owned by a smart property contract, the new administrator of the contract is the new controller, and essentially the new owner.

Smiley

True, but let's say someone enters your house bought via a smart contract... how do you send the police on him, if the smart contract has no recognize by the official authorities?
This is the main problem i see with this.

This is on point. Say you buy a car, or a house or any property. Just because it says so in the blockchain, if someone tries to steal it or damage it... are the authorities forced to assist you? unfortunately i dont think so unless it gets aknowledged by then that the blockchain smart contracts have the same value as a traditional signed contract.

1498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin vs "Silicon Valley" plot on: April 16, 2015, 12:37:38 PM
When something is truly new and has nothing that you could compare it to, you never know where it will take you. Therefore people get carried away in rallies. But the big picture is the price is always going up, but it takes too much of a big vision on it to realize, and a lot of people will jump off the train before they get it.
1499  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price in 10 years..... on: April 16, 2015, 12:34:39 PM
People said you were suffering from severe dementia if you thought Bitcoin would reach 1 dollar back in the day, and look what happened.
The price will be higher than you can logically predict, again.
1500  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom is in at $215 buying like crazy on: April 16, 2015, 12:21:58 PM
Indeed. Indicators are showing bulls are coming in strong. If you don't get loaded right now with BTC you shall meet regret and desperation in the future. Enjoy.
