1361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illogic Paradox on: May 15, 2015, 12:42:22 PM
It's the same analogy where you can put all your jewelry in safe box which is worth probably just maybe a quarter of that amount and what makes it so different as in the case if bitcoin? The point is the most important thing is that it offers the security level that you need.
The anonimity point still stands. I don't want people to be able to trace back the money on my wallet throught transaction history on the blockchain.
The only solution I see is mixing your coins before doing anything where your address and your credentials are linked (buying something from soneone, whatever).
This is annoying tho. There should be an in-built mixing system in Bitcoin-QT and all wallets, because no fucking one wants to have their privacy compromised.
1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin? on: May 15, 2015, 12:34:36 PM
Bitcoin is backed by computational power, unbreakable encryption and huge amounts of electrical power being used to secure the network, the biggest network in the world (main reason to pick it vs the rest of altcoins). It is also backed by leveraging the entire global internet.

Also, it is not Fiat, it does not exist by law or decree and it does not have a sovereign nation backing it with debt or threat of violence.

I want to reserve a spot to re-enroll as soon as the month ends, I don't wanna lose my spot.
Could you send a PM to confirm the re-enrollment when it happens?

Reserve? re-enroll? once you are in you are in aren't you?

Anyway i would like to stay in the avatar campaign forever also.

that's my understanding too. you don't need to re-enroll, do you?

I think there is no reserving here. I dont see in OP about reserving but from the signature campaign, I can see that if you are constructive poster and consistent in your post then you will always be included on the next term. Reserving now is useless if they dont include you for next term

I've seen some people reserving spots on the main thread.
And yes, you need to re-enroll for the avatar campaing, but not for the normal campaing, for some reason.
I would prefer not having to re-enroll each months. It creates a great deal of stress, consistence is everything.
There's always someone that leaves somewhere else, or people that fuck it up by shitposting 50 times a day. Those free spots are the ones that should be given the new people.

1365  Economy / Economics / Re: Japanese tax regimes depress economy on: May 14, 2015, 01:18:54 PM
The poor japs have been stuck with their crisis for ages, but at least and as opposite to most other "unions" out there, it's their own money debt, they don't depend from other countries and can afford taking certain measures that others cant.
1366  Economy / Economics / Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter? on: May 14, 2015, 01:17:26 PM
It sure does. From an investor's POV for obvious reasons, since if it goes too low a lot of people get scared and shaken. From a miner's POV too, lots of scared dudes out there, or simply dudes that can't afford mining at a loss for a long time. From a consumer's POV, because stability would be better than high volatility.
1367  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Totalitarianism on: May 14, 2015, 01:14:54 PM
I also think that, unfortunately, the mass will be too dumb to realize what's going on and will get trapped inside the cool, cashless society with centralized, state funded crypto, while a Bitcoin resistance survives as a parallel decentralized system of freedom. Hopefully all it does is putting Bitcoin up there and what ends up going global is BTC and now Fiatcoin.
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Generators? on: May 14, 2015, 01:10:42 PM
The only way to create new Bitcoin is to mine them with mining program. There's no thing such as 'generator' which will produce new Bitcoin. I once fall for a trap like this. I'm lucky that I did not download. Else, I wont be here as a Bitcoiner.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even Satoshi himself once said that that he is creating something like bitcoin generator. So it is not pure fiction. Original quote from Satoshi:

Quote
June 18, 2010: I planned on creating a free bitcoin generator. When it gets too hard for mortals to generate 50BTC, new users could get some coins to play with right away.

While it is true that 99.9% of bitcoin generators right now are purely scams and malware but there is possibility of creating one that really works.
If Satoshi created such thing bitcoin generator. Any one can generate bitcoin from the thin air. Then mining becomes meaningless. He will destroy bitcoin completely.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about a faucet. Back in the day even Gavin operated a faucet that gave out much more than the scrap BTC you get from today's faucets.

Well back in the day you could make tons of BTC with faucets, but back in the day BTC was literally worthless, it's not like Gavin was a good Samaritan giving free money out there.
1369  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying bitcoins with Skrill on: May 14, 2015, 01:08:35 PM
Even if the commissions are higher its safer, unless like the poster above said you can find a escrow here that you can trust (never use a scroll that's less that at least Sr Member)
1370  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: May 14, 2015, 01:06:56 PM
well if BTC goes $1000 usd i would just sell my bitcoin for profit
1000 usd would still mean a loss. Some people bought at over 1100$ because they saw a HUGE price increase, and if the price got there, how much farther could it go! Sure enough the bubble popped and the price has been at a slow decrease, up to now where we are at 240$ usd. For EVERYONE to be at a profit, >1300 usd would have to be reached. I would still not sell then, if the price gets that high I think bitcoin will be mainstream and will be spendable on its own.
People are under psychological fear when you hit a nice round figure like 1000 specially if its close to ATH, so tons of weak hands will be shaken on the next 1k peak, guaranteeing only a few make it wall the way up to 10k and beyond.
1371  Economy / Services / Re: DA DICE Signature Campaign - 'Da' BEST Yet | HIGHEST RATES! | JOIN THE FUN! on: May 14, 2015, 12:53:14 PM
When will the enrollment spreadsheet be reset for the current term?
Also about the avatar campaing, there is a limit for 150 posts and after 150 posts you don't get paid even if you post more than 150 posts? (so in my case the maximum would be 150 x 0.0013 = 0.195 + 0.04 = 0.235, you cant make beyond this? because I think i usually make more than 150 a month, so in this case I would be lossing BTC, lets say i make 200, i could be making 0.26 on the regular campaing.
Please let me know.

You are not losing anything because the avatar campaign is additional earning for you. If you think that you are losing btc than you can choose not to join it since I know that the avatar campaign is not a must.
People are lining up to join this avatar campaign, be gratefull that you are accepted not complaining
Im not complaining, im just asking. I thought after 150 posts the posts didnt count anymore.
Im not good at math. Let's see them. If I make 200 posts for example, how much would that be? Is this correct?
0.235/150 = 0.00157 per post
so 0.00157 x 200 = 0.3134 ??

Or would be 0.235 for the 150, then the next 50 would count as regular campaing? in numbers:
0.235 + (50 x 0.0013) = 0.3 ??

Or would it be 200 normal posts + the 0.04 for having surpassed the 150 goal?

(200 x 0.0013) + 0.04 = 0.3 ??

this gives me a headache Smiley

The avatar and signature is a separate campaign. You made 100 posts last week than it will be counted as 100 for your avatar campaign as well but only maximum of 150 will be paid for the avatar campaign. Nothing to be lose here since all the post you made will still be paid for the signature campaign if they are qualified. I will gladly switch place with you for the avatar campaign if you are not satisfied with this

I was asking, stop assuming "im not satisfied".
So if I understood it correctly, with my 200 post a month example, it basically means that would be 0.3 that month right? (second option in my 3 examples)

Btw, i want to reenroll for the avatar campaign as soon as the month ends, just taking my spot.

1374  Economy / Speculation / Re: More huge news on: May 12, 2015, 02:23:18 PM
it had no impact on bitcoin price, i was expecting a bump after this but bitcoin is trading normal

all these news will have impact in the long term, not now, also they are news that talk about raising a good infrastructure first, and not directly related with investment on bitcoin

This. For now people are ignoring the evidence (i mean the clueless average joes, and the old clueless former gurus like Buffet), but as the evidence stacks up with time, the realization will be an all of a sudden moment, with a sky rocketing pump.
1375  Economy / Economics / Re: 2014 Poll: How many bitcoins do you own? on: May 12, 2015, 02:18:29 PM
Most people selling TA advice are making a living from those e-books, speeches courses or whatever, rather than by doing TA themselves, that's the catch.
1376  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: May 12, 2015, 02:17:19 PM
The government is the right place to blame. Why? Because they act to slow for this kind of method of payment? You can see the future of this bitcoin and still they are still finding more and more regulation just to control this bitcoin just for themselves and that is not for us. And the media is like mediator to connect us and government so they will know how big is this bitcoin is

What does the gov have to do with anything? Bitcoin works fine without their blessing or regulations. Regulations have absolutely nothing to do with the stifling of the price so we can't just keep blaming them.

Having government going against btc do impact btc price.

Were you around when btc went from $1100 to $300 within one week when china put a ban on it?

I don't remember that Bitcoin went from 1100$ to 300$ in just one week. IIRC, at first it went down to ~900$ then bounced back a little, then dropped to about 650$ where it stayed long enough (certainly longer than one week). Later it fell to around 450$ where it had been for a few months...

Pumps are like that, so they catch all the weak hands when they are sleeping, just like a whale setting a trap for small fish. The first 30 USD bubble was the same. Long period of long trend, then out of fucking nowhere price goes like x30
1377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Payments Are Accepted at Gas Stations on: May 12, 2015, 02:14:34 PM
Is this for real? If so great news, seems like Elwar will have yet something less to worry about since now he can get gas paying directly with Bitcoin lol.
1378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin Fork? on: May 12, 2015, 02:12:26 PM
The fork that's deprecated (in this case the old 1MB fork) will eventually get abandoned, of course there will always be stubborn people using it, but it will eventually die. For example, Freenet did a fork in a version I dont remember now, and the old fork is still used for a couple people for some stupid reason probably.
1379  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do we pay so much when the same function can be performed by a few Satoshis on: May 11, 2015, 03:32:15 PM
8 is just that magic geek number that's aesthetically pleasing. I don't think there was a very special reason to choose that unless satoshi pointed that out, just like 1 MB block size was not that special, it was just a number to keep things going for that time.
1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: May 11, 2015, 03:29:21 PM
The hype for bitcoin was high during 2013-2014. It has slowed down but will pick up. I have a great innovation and it will be something that you should prepare for. I do believe bitcoin will be top 10 of the cryptocurrencies but not the top 1 in a few years or even a decade.

Why not top 1?

He's delusional. If Bitcoin survives (and it will) there's like 90% of provability that the number 1 coin that will reach spread mainstream adoption will be Bitcoin, not some other shitcoin (altcoin).
If Bitcoin is threatened by some other features that are worth it, it will simply adopt it.
