1521  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: In 2015, faucets are bad for bitcoin on: April 13, 2015, 02:08:46 PM
Faucets are good in any year of Bitcoin. Of course back in the day faucet gave you tons of BTC but BTC was worthless literally.

Now its peanuts but still useful for newbs to play with.
1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the cat did it [Karpeles found 650 000 BTC] on: April 13, 2015, 02:03:38 PM
Nice joke. Sadly the joke is on all the people who lost money.
We all still hope that someday it will all be found.

It is most likely an april fools joke. What puzzles me tho and what I dont get is, how did Karpeles hide 650K BTC? Jesus. Isn't bitcoin pseudoanonymous? why aren't they able to trace the coins back? Did he really run 650000 coins throught a mixer or what?
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 13, 2015, 02:00:14 PM
I got into Bitcoin when the prices reached $800. I was very lucky afterwards that this prices was to high for me and I did not buy Bitcoins at this time. Instead, I hoped to get into next Bitcoin and invested into Nxt what made me not rich but gave me some considerably wealth too. What I want to say is that there are always chances to make good money if you really get into promising coins.

Some altcoins had the potential for enormous profits but many also had the potential for enormous losses. While Bitcoin's price rose by 90 times in 2013, Litecoin's went up by nearly 600 times. Someone who had invested $13 into BTC in the beginning of 2013 and exchanged it for NXT while the IPO was still open would have been $5 million better off at one point.

Compare this to 2012 when the BTC price only rose from $5 to $13 by the year's end. Not many opportunities were to be had there. The same is also probably true for 2015. If BTC does become truly mainstream then those who wait patiently today might eventually see very large returns in the future. Just like how those who had waited and held onto their coins in 2012 would have seen enormous returns in the following year.

How come OP is "anonymous" and has no profile? Just realized when I tried to click on his nickname, but there's nothing... interesting.

Apparently, he was an infamous troll and got banned and his user account removed.

How come OP is "anonymous" and has no profile? Just realized when I tried to click on his nickname, but there's nothing... interesting.

Look up the user names Atlas, Jon, Immanuel Go, Ragnar, ALPHA, anonymous, Boss and you'll see most of his threads. He had more nicks than hookers have tricks.

Well that explains it. Previously I used to think that the forums supported anonymous/guest posting and OP was one of such users. Strange that they would actually go so far as to delete the account though.

There are plenty of really interesting projects happening now in crypto/decentralziation. The thing is, it takes both skill and a lot of luck to spot the good ones. Even if you invest in something that's objectively great, it doesn't necessarly mean it will catch up with the popular and deliver massive gains.
1524  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why would DPR hire a Hitman through a bank transfer? on: April 12, 2015, 03:18:57 PM
Both of them (Ross and the hitman) can't be that stupid. Have you ever heard of a criminal, who accepts bank transfer for his services? This is ridiculous.

You do know that most criminals don't use bitcoin right? Seriously it is not hard for a criminal to send or receive a bank transfer anonymously, liberty reserve (which is what Ross used) used to let you do this before it was shutdown. There are lots of banking services out there that are available for criminals. How do you think scammers on localbitcons and such pull scams using bank transfers?
Yeah most still use cash, yet Bitcoin gets the most negative press possible constantly linking it to criminal activities because it's on their political interest.
1525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: easy way that get me bitcoin on: April 12, 2015, 03:15:21 PM
The only easy way to get Bitcoin was being here in early 2010. And even then it was hard because you were buying something that (at the time) was valueless, so you wouldn't have known better anyway.
1526  Economy / Speculation / Re: where is bitcoin future going ? Loosing hope :( on: April 12, 2015, 03:12:32 PM
It hasn't even started, we are in early 90's internet when compared to Bitcoin. Current price is irrelevant. Time will put Bitcoin at the top naturally.
1527  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: April 12, 2015, 03:09:13 PM
If it was me, I'd save about 50%, invest 25% in Bitcoin, and invest 25% in Gold. This is because the 50% you save would be 'safe', but the investment has the potential to grow, or not do so well.

50% is too high given the riskiness of Bitcoin.
Most planners recommend 0.5-1% in bitcoins.

he said 50% saved not invested in bitcoin, you are looking for 25% and i find 25% about right in bitcoin, but actually i would save only 33% max(50% is too much just for saving), the rest invested in bitcoin and something else(not gold), maybe i'll wait for bitcoin stocks)

So what college guy doesnt need to save his hard earned money? Atleast a family guy has 2 incomes of his wife too.

But a college guy usually lives on his own income and sometimes gets help from parents, so whatever he can save in those "golden years" its better if he saves it better.

I say 15% bitcoin, 15% gold , 50% silver and rest some big stocks that get inflated from QE money.

I know a lot of guys basically paying 0 expenses (they get paid internet, paid gas for the car, paid food.. literally everything). These guys can afford doing crazy shit like putting 100% on Bitcoin or even in some promising crypto project and wait to see what happens. Because if they lose the money they'll get more next month.
1528  Economy / Economics / Re: US Dollar collapse in 2015? (2) on: April 12, 2015, 03:05:36 PM
Of course rt.com (linked in the OP) would like to see the collapse of the US Dollar.

I don't see it happening any time soon.
Lol russia today has been paying Max Keiser, Stacy and friends to create this feeling of impending doom. While I believe a crash in the long run is unevitable, they've been saying its "imminent" for ages now.
1529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 20.99~ The tilde as a candidate for the currency symbol for bits or bitcoin on: April 12, 2015, 03:02:38 PM
How about △? The pyramid symbol (U+25B3).  Smiley
You have to think that people would need to manually type the whole thing to get the symbol. A symbol that is inmediate in universal keyboards is better than some weird one. Or lets just call it uBTC.
1530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin on: April 12, 2015, 02:58:32 PM
Hi evrybody,

i have a general question.

in your opinion, how banks can earn with bitcoin?
Who sayed they can in the first place? Andreas sayed, they shouldn't profit much from financial services if systems works correctly.

It's not mutually exclusive imo. They could launch services that simulate traditional banks to store your BTC, if you do not trust yourself. Xapo acts like a traditional bank for example.
1531  Other / Politics & Society / Re: cop shoots man in the back on: April 11, 2015, 12:42:47 PM
This is absolutely disgusting and intolerable. He just killed him, that's all, he decided to kill him out of fucking nowhere! and you can't refute that video evidence. I hope someone takes payback time on that fucker.
1532  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think 1.00 BTC will worth more than $10,000.00 USD at any time in 2015? on: April 11, 2015, 12:40:37 PM
we must be happy if we see $400 this year it seems. i think it will go down further from current price. bottom might be $200 or maybe just under that.  let's first reach $1000 again before talking about $10000
You can never leave out of the equation insane rallies with bitcoin. It can happen at any given time. Look how much it took for the price to go from 400 to 1000, literally days. Every second you aren't on BTC, it's a second you could miss that lunar trip.
1533  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: how much can you make weekly? on: April 11, 2015, 12:35:21 PM
0,12 BTC ... if lucky.

i'm not lucky.

Cheesy so i wait for the 2016 halving instead.
What would the halving possibly deliver in terms of making BTC? if anything we'll make even less BTC (considering the price should go up).

there is at least 50% chance that it will go up, and 50 % that numbers of miner will go down, which will result in a lower price

it's very unlikely that we will stay at current situation, this at least should be guaranteed

The thing is, faucets and sig campaings tend to keep the same payment prices when the Bitcoin price goes down (just like now, they should be way higher) but when the price goes up, faucets and sig campaings keep the same payments.
What I say is, they should give payments in a less volatile currency (USD or EUR) and pay the equivalent in BTC, for a more steady income.
1534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Busted! Cops taking BTC! on: April 11, 2015, 12:32:18 PM
another negative news in Bitcoin sphere Angry

I disagree this is a negative. It's pretty positive - it shows even the Feds see the value of bitcoin enough to steal them. It also illuminates the degree of corruption involved in going after Ross.

Nobody is oblivious to government and law enforcement corruption. But to see them stealing bitcoin is, unto itself, a positive for the true value of bitcoin. I would've thought it'd jump up a few points on this news  Cheesy
I agree, it's pretty damn positive. They can bash it all they want, but this only shows that internally, there is a want for Bitcoin even among the so called forces of order. The govt bashes it while hunts it.
1535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 20.99~ The tilde as a candidate for the currency symbol for bits or bitcoin on: April 11, 2015, 12:30:57 PM
Reasons for your consideration:

  • The primary current meaning of the tilde is "approximately equal to", which is analogous to the definition of money.
  • The squiggly line of the tilde is similar to the vertical or horizontal bar common to currency symbols, but more ethereal to represent a digital transaction.
  • The tilde is easily accessible on any keyboard.  I'm writing this on my phone.
  • The tilde is easy to draw by hand.

I don't know, I have become so used to dealing with tons of zeroes that for me is not a problem anymore to work only in terms of BTC. I understand this can be a pain in the ass for noobs tho.
1536  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A little hi from pores! on: April 10, 2015, 12:22:32 PM

1537  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to sell bitcoins for USD on: April 10, 2015, 12:01:53 PM
I'm Interested ! I need to buy some bitcoins with paypal ; Pm Me

You don't have any trust rating here in Bitcointalk. And even if you had a positive trust almost none of the guys here will exchange their Bitcoins for Paypal. Why can't you use Western Union or some other method?
Yeah its always a bad idea to do p2p (person to person) paypal stuff without a third party. Virwox is the only way I know but it sucks (fees too high).

1539  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: April 10, 2015, 11:57:45 AM
If Greece leaves the Euro zone, that would make the Euro stronger, and that may happen.
if greece leaves, spain, italy, germany, the uk ... will all follow and the euro will become weaker for sure.
The euro is done after greece leaves, domino effect will ensue.

Bricks will be shat.
Greece already allying up with Russia. Tsipras visited Putin.. I wonder what happened in the reunion, because they just paid the 470 million that they needed to pay yesterday.
1540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Payments VP: One Thing Stands Between Bitcoin and Mass Adoption on: April 10, 2015, 11:50:57 AM
“Everyone thinks bitcoin is the currency of criminals.”

According to Alasdair Rambaud, senior vice president for payment solutions provider CardinalCommerce and a self-proclaimed bitcoin user, this is the only factor prohibiting bitcoin from mass adoption.

Rambaud believes that “most large merchants” in the US are currently looking into accepting bitcoin as payment, and that the reasons go far deeper than the publicity that can be gained.

SOURCE: http://www.coindesk.com/cardinalcommerce-bitcoin-mass-adoption/
I avoided BTC at the beginning because it was indeed linked to criminal activity. This made me lose the opportunity to make thousands in BTC, or even millions!

Stupid bad publicity.
