It's like someone just turned off 150 Peta ... doesn't smell good. Bitfury upgrading old hardware ?
Holy cow yea, maybe even more than that.  Look at the huge drop in hash rate!  I think a large hardware upgrade is coming to a farm, I don't think this is the same peak power we've seen on and off, this is something more.

I would not worry about forcing constant hashing it might be really hard to track it.

Cause a bad vibe if a winner loses due to a black out or something.

Yea, that's why I added the caveat of Johnny decides and his decision is final.  He should be able to look at the pool logs and quickly determine if a user was mining here "full time" or not during the round.  Blackouts and downtime do happen, so he can make the decision if the winner put the effort toward the pool to deserve to win.

No problems here, my workers have been mining away 24/7.  Glad to see that little run of green blocks, certainly helped make that red one feel better.

That's is exactly why I keep my U3 running...for the cmd line cgminer monitor.  The hash rate is useless (63GHs) but I find it comforting to see the accepted shares scrolling up.  I also love seeing the block notifications when they happen!  Cheesy

It's so retro...  Grin

I have always wished that the modern miners, S7 and Avalon 6 for example, had a way to view cgminer in command line form to watch the shares to go by, see the new block notices, and of course the solve notices.  I have a couple usb sticks that are always running on one pool or another, so I still get to see cgminer command line daily, but would be cool to see it on a big gun, too.

I agree that having some hash (like 5GH min.) for the "entire round" (with allowances for downtime and such, Johnny makes the final call) would be fair and at least have the desired effect of growing the pool for each round, not just a little here and there.  I strongly encourage allowing votes to change, it keeps interest levels active.  Maybe you can limit to 2 choices per 100% range (0-100%, 101-200%, etc.) if you had to limit it, but at least that way say a 500% block comes along people can still be actively guessing and throwing rentals.

In the end keep it fun, too many rules and it's too hard to manage and no longer a fun contest to participate in.  Smiley

Difficulty is trending toward flat right now, the mystery peaky hash power appears to be turning off as the adjustment period comes to an end again.  Smart people to play with hundreds of PH this way and not have a large effect of difficulty.
488  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 174 blocks solved! on: April 24, 2016, 02:20:15 PM
i rent nicehash and mining solo there. my pool settting Pool URL
stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333
but i saw niehash mining 45.59.68.74:443 here. (443 port)

is it  normal? is it cause any problem?

If it works then no problem, see the first post in this thread:
Configuration:
Just point your miner to: stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 or port 443

If nicehash doesn't work, try port 3334.

Please change my guess to 93.0-93.99.

Maybe even a 5% window would be good for future guess games, that way you could have some time to let a decent rental run during your period.  Even my little 100TH for a couple hours moved the pool % noticeably.
490  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) Win up to 3 BTC! on: April 24, 2016, 05:52:32 AM
100TH incoming for the next 2 hours, if I timed it right both my rentals should end around my guess.

I forgot about staying small with rentals, gotta step it up now or never!  Cool

Next round if the block has to happen within the guess range then I would also like to see larger ranges, like 2%+ somewhere I think would work out.

Trying out my first rental as the pool % is closing in on my guess, I think I have it configured correctly as the hash is registering on my dashboard.  A modest 7TH for ~10 hours, but I wanted to stay small my first rental, just to get a feel for it.  I'm gonna keep tossing small rentals this way until my period has passed, or maybe up this one because it might run too long.  Good luck, everyone (especially me and traxor)!

Is there anywhere in the menus that I can put a suggested diff?

Where abouts do you put the  --suggest-diff 64 (is that how you enter it aswell?)?

Put it in the password field. Separate the password and the parameter with a blank:

Quote
--suggest-diff 22

Wooohooo because of my YouTube channel I got accepted to be a advertising partner of Nich Hash!

Help me out guys use the link at the bottom of my post every time you're going to rent some hash Pls.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

I signed up with NH using your link, but there was some kind of error trying to verify my email so I haven't been able to finish registration yet.  I'm hoping to get it set up in time to throw some hash here when my guess window comes up.  Hopefully you get the credit for my sign up, if not let me know and we'll make sure you do.

Updated picture of my mining shelf, both the Avalon6 and S5 (hiding in the back) live here together now.  S5 is powered by 850W atx psu, A6 by 1200W HP server psu (fed from dryer 240v outlet).  Vent in wall provides cool air for intake, or I vent the S5 out of it.  There is also a window on that wall that I open to give more cool air.

495  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Dual-purpose DPS800/DPS1200 breakout board on: April 21, 2016, 05:40:28 PM
Speaking of 120 or 240 volts I moved both psu's from 120 to 240 volts.

the numbers are so close it really is all equal with a 1 or 2 % error margin
I understood that the HP psu would max out at 900 watts with only 120 volt supply, yet you saw over 1000 watts at the wall from it?  That was the reason I wired my for 240, so that I could realize the full potential of the psu.  And yea, I think the efficiency increase from 120 to 240 is only like ~3%, so that would likely fall within the error range for any retail power meters to report.
496  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: April 21, 2016, 04:28:16 PM

I frequently drive my S7 up into the 68-75C range in order to keep down the fan noise, and it hasnt been an issue yet as long as it doesnt start beeping at 80C+

How safe is it to run thse units that hot?
I dropped my S7 F1 down to 600mhz and it was running 40mins @ 68C  then come night time it was 82C. It did not beep.

It's plenty safe, but the cooler you can keep electronics running the longer they will last.  75*C is pushing it, though, you don't have much room for error if you're running that hot.
497  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 174 blocks solved! on: April 21, 2016, 04:26:00 PM
Starting a solo mining group [...]

Isn't that, kind of "defeating the purpose" (of solo mining)?

And why not "just" regular pool mining then (instead of "pooled" mining with solo mining risk)?
There have been several of these solo clubs, in fact ck has made changes to the pool code just to provide statistics and stuff to make these clubs easier to run.  Pooled solo mining has a much larger reward potential than regular pool mining.  Higher risk, too, but hey, gotta pay to play.
498  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Apr 14 to Apr 28? picks are now open.... prize = 0.2 btc on: April 21, 2016, 04:19:08 PM
The price will stay clearly over 400 from now on, people are holding, even buying, hoping for something big at halving.
Just somehow I expected the diff will not rise this much again....
I'm hoping for something big at the halving, too, but I'm hoping for a big drop - probably the opposite of what most people want.  I want the price to tank down to the $100 range and I want difficulty to drop with it.  I would love it if the halving spelled the end to mega-mines by making them no longer cost efficient to run.

Even small percentage changes now have HUGE diff effects, like the 5% we're at right now sounds small but that would add almost 10G to the diff!
499  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: いい antrun.de - Antrouter R1 Fun-Run - compare your share いい on: April 21, 2016, 04:16:39 PM
I've noticed that my R1 restarts randomly as well, I'll notice it because the best share reported in my monitor has changed but cksolo has not found a block.  I have crazyguy's firmware and I don't know if it has a restart cron job or what, but my R1 always comes back hashing; if it wasn't for the best share I would never even know it had restarted.

simple  this a  temporary place next spot will be different.  next spot will need a bar to be mounted.

Here is how I mounted mine, it's hung with a good gap between it and the metal rack and it has a nice cool-air supply from a vent to outside.  You are using metal racks, you could hang them below.

sometimes the plug is wired in by an amateur electrician slash professional jackass
My power plug is, *ahem* using my 240 dryer plug with a wire made by me, and that's Registered Professional Engineer/jackass thank you very much, but I done made it good.  Grin
