I found a summary of the OP's posts, presented here:

682  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: March 18, 2016, 06:53:33 PM
I didn't recall the freq. setting in the gui, I'll check it out tonight.  Although I was very happy with how it ran without me changing anything except the fan setting.

let the fan blow air without restrictions. big heat sink 1 fan  you need to allow fan to move the air.

lastly  keep room cool.

Yes, I gave it plenty of room to breath, that was my problem with the initial setup, now it exhausts into a large open area.  I guess my dryer vent exhaust maxes out at the S5, anything more needs to move more air than the vent can handle.  The volume of air coming out of the A6 is impressive, I can stand 8' away and still feel a strong, warm breeze.  I left with window open last night in addition to the dryer vent providing cool air for the unit, that's how I'll continue to run it until summer starts to set in here.

I won't have to worry how it will do in the summer heat because I can't run my miners in the summer, my electricity bill is high enough with just my AC, and miners make is worse x2 because they 1) use more power than my AC and they 2) add more heat to my house for my AC to deal with, so I just turn them off when it gets too hot - or will be having them hosted this year.  Ahh, life in a desert...
683  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 18, 2016, 06:08:25 PM
I've tried 80/50/20 %

And whatever I set, the fan speed reported in the Ui is always 3840 or 4080 rpm...
I noticed (and posted in another thread) that when you update the cgminer on the S5 to 4.9.0 it appears to ignore the user selected manual fan setting and it just runs the fans at whatever speed it wants.
684  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: March 18, 2016, 06:06:40 PM
@ gt_addict, did you verify via command line the cgminer version?

Yes, I think an increased HW error rate results in less shares being submitted to the pool, therefore the pool will show you a reduced hash rate.

It could be just a difference in the two machines, but 0.2% error is pretty darn high.  I overclocked my S3+ and its errors were less than 0.1% I'm pretty sure (or was it 0.01%?).

But:
Code:
root@AntminerS31:/usr/bin# cgminer -V
cgminer 4.9.2

So basically, do no trust the System info in the UI Smiley
Ah, well that must explain why he's done the kano updates but still thought he had the old cgminer version.  I never checked the version in the gui, I always checked via ssh connection.
685  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Mar 18 to Mar 31? picks are closed.... prize = 0.1 btc on: March 18, 2016, 05:56:17 PM
Congrats to the winner, well guessed!

So basically the last two adjustments have cancelled each other out, I think we can all be happy with that.  Hopefully diff will stay flat now until new hardware makes its way on to the scene.
686  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: March 18, 2016, 05:51:13 PM
The Sanyo ace should drop the fan speeds down and you will be quieter.

What did you set the fan speed at 40?  The freq at 500 with fan at 40-50 works well.

The fan rpms dropped as the evening got cooler, they hung around 5000rpm all night.  The unit ran for over 9 hours and averaged ~3.4+ TH/s for the run.  I shut it off for the day because it will be too warm in my house when I get home if I left it running.

I am impressed with how quiet the stock fan is compared to the stock fan on the S5, so if it gets even quieter from here that will be a bonus.  Also on the comparing to S5 front, I like that for only 300 watts more I get more than double the hash.  I look forward to receiving the fan and checking it with my dB meter.

Yes, I set the fan to 40 (lucky guess I guess!), but I do not know how/where to read the freq - isn't it dynamic?  Do you change the fan setting with the Sanyo ace?

Heh that's gotta be our shortest time after another block ever.
1.7s after the previous mined network block Smiley
Code:
[2016-03-19 01:02:52.814] Block hash changed to 00000000000000000041538f2b39173b480f6adaf20170aaf6ba4521d3f9b590
[2016-03-19 01:02:54.526] BLOCK ACCEPTED!
[2016-03-19 01:02:54.568] Block hash changed to 0000000000000000003513c778c4f7d14f7f1c3f1a2d42e540bda77bf8688261

Did we get decent fees?

Well 0.02+ in fees is pretty since we got them in under 2 seconds
Considering that on some of the other pools a block solve that fast would have likely indicated an empty block, I would say 0.02 in fees is not too shabby.

For the time being I'll have my S5 pointed here during the day most days and I'll be solo mining with my Avalon6 at night.  I'm probably sending these machines to be hosted at some point, but for a little while I'll be playing with them at home (despite my outrageous electricity rate).

Let's get block #4 for the pool!
689  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: March 18, 2016, 04:37:57 AM
I spun the A6 around and gave it plenty of room to breath, plus some cool evening air from outside.

It ran really well for about 15 minutes, fan did go up and down a bit from 6-8000 rpm, and just after I took the screen cap below, the fan died down and I watch the hash drop down to nothing.  Wattage at the wall went from 1050+ to ~60.  The light on the front of the unit was flashing yellow.

I refreshed the gui and it still read the same.  I restarted cgminer and it still didn't change (yellow light still flashing), so I rebooted it via the gui.  It's been running now for

7m 15s  Temps 35 65 74
3.4TH

17m 8s  Temps 35 66 75
3.5TH

34m 34s  Temp 35 67 76
3.57TH

1h 19m  Temps 35 67 75
3.5TH

Will update, but seems to be stabilized now.

At 65 dB it is quieter than my S5.

St Patrick's Day Promotion
One day only, we're going to celebrate the luck of the Irish.  Starting at 00:00:00 and going to 23:59:59 EDT on Thursday, March 17.
Dang, just missed the contest, but no block solve.  I did get my A6 up and running for a bit, tested it here.  Cool

691  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: March 17, 2016, 10:36:25 PM
I've done kanos updates on both machines yet they both still show the cgminer versions I've mentioned previously in the software section.
Then you have not done kano's update, at least not correctly.  If done correctly you would be running cgminer 4.9.0 and you would have a -k on the gui pages.
692  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread on: March 17, 2016, 09:43:57 PM
Why don't you want to use the latest one ?

https://enshop.bitmain.com/files/download/antMiner_S320150109.bin

It has all the fixes, I can't see the point of upgrading to a known bad version...

You could even use Kano's version...

Ive already updated to kanos version but it didn't change the cgminer. The New(second hand) s3+ ive just hooked up is showing a 0.2235% HW, but the S3+ I have that's running 4.6.1 and kanos update has a rate of 0.001%HW.

That's the only difference so thought updating to the firmware with 4.6.1 would be beneficial.
If you are using Kano's update then you would have cgminer 4.9.0, not 4.6.1.

Kano and ck updated the cgminer, not the same thing as the firmware.  The firmware from bitmain contains the (old & outdated & buggy) bitmain fork of cgminer, if you did the Kano update first and then the bitmain firmware update, you overwrote the kano update.

You should first install the latest bitmain firmware from their website, antMiner_S320150109.bin.  Simply follow the directions from the manual:
Quote
Through 'System->Backup/Flash Firmware’ you will be able to upgrade your AntMiner.
‘Keep settings’ is  chosen by default, you should choose it if you hope to preserve thecurrent
settings. You should cancel this option if you hope to restore to initial settings. Click ‘Browse’ button to
choose upgrade file [this is the firmware you downloaded per above]. After choosing upgrade file, then click ’Flash image...’ button to start to download
this file to  your  system. After  downloading,  please  click ‘Proceed’ button, then upgrade system.
During the upgrade process, you need to wait patiently, and must keep power on, otherwise, AntMiner
will restore to initial settings. AntMiner will be connected to login interface after finishing system upgrade.

After you do that, follow Kano's instructions to update cgminer and verify that it installed 4.9.0.  You'll get a new status screen when successful.  You'll also notice the load on the machine is drastically reduced.  Error rate went down on my S3+ with it as well.
693  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: March 17, 2016, 09:33:43 PM
I copied it here:
https://bitbucket.org/TheKano/cgminer-binaries/src

Seems that after 4 years someone didn't like the fact I had binaries there Tongue

Awesome, thank you for the updated link!  I still need to install 4.9.0c on my S1 next time I turn it on, it only has 4.9.0a on it (I'm going to undervolt that thing one of these days...)

Here's the command to see the cgminer version on your antminer when you ssh in, I just checked it with the S5 and it works just fine:
Code:
cgminer-api version

I’m not sure if by generation transactions if you mean newly minted coins? If that is what you mean, then yes, we do support them,

...

That still don't tell me if it is good or not,

They answered you pretty clearly that yes, they support newly minted coins, i.e. a generation transaction.

There are some posts in the forum that show how much bandwidth a full node uses, plus there are ways to limit traffic to reduce your bandwidth, try a search for those threads.
696  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OFFICIAL CGMINER mining software thread for linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.9.2 on: March 17, 2016, 07:22:25 PM
So one thing I noticed using 4.9.0 on the S5 vs. bitmain fork is that my fans seem to ignore the user defined setting box.  I have them set at 60%, but once I install 4.9.0 and restart cgminer the fans kick way up.  Is that because the fan speed check box is only recognized by the bitmain fork?

The nice thing on the S5 is that it tells you which version it's running on the "system" page of the UI, pretty neat if you're not sure or if the system has restarted without you noticing Smiley
Yup, I posted a screen cap of mine in the S5 thread:

There is also a command you could type when ssh'd into the S1 that would tell you what version of cgminer was running, but I can't recall what the command was, nor do I know if it worked on anything after the S1.  It was listed on the github directions, but...

It appears this repository has been disabled, is there an updated link?  I need to find the S1 update instructions again, thanks.

That's the settings for the R1 NOT the U3  Wink

My U3 is currently set at 0800/250m  Grin
Oops, sorry, I misread.

Look at klondike_bar's posts, he was changing 3 numeric values, not just one, so maybe you have to edit some other values before you see a change with the R1.
698  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there anything non-illegal exclusive to bitcoin? on: March 17, 2016, 07:03:15 PM
There is service called Purse.io where you can buy everything Amazon offers for bitcoin with 15%-30% discount.
All those "services" are is someone with a Prime account buying from Amazon and reselling to you, acting as a middle man.  Often they simply place the order at Amazon and have it shipped to you.

700  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: March 17, 2016, 06:21:50 PM
On a different note, ive changed the settings for the R1 and it doesn't seem to make any difference when I change the freq. Volts is set at 0725 which is what it was after I did the update. But I put the freq upto 125M but it still hashes at 5.2ghs.

Anyone have any ideas?
Why are you using 125?  I know the chips technically support that freq, but really 225 is the lowest the U3 really operates at.  Basically the valid U3 frequencies are 225, 237.5, 243.75, 250.

0725 is less than stock voltage setting, 0750 is stock I believe and I don't think the U3 likes to go lower.  0800v/250freq is what a lot of people ran their U3 at to get 60+GH out of it, mine ran at 58GH at 0785/237.5 so that's what I used.  Your mileage may vary.
