141  Other / Meta / Re: Add real-time Bitcoin price in the forum. on: August 31, 2019, 04:17:43 PM
Theymos don't want to relate the price of bitcoin with fiat I guess that is why he didn't want to implement the feature of one bitcoin is equal to how many USDs.

Even if he want the problem with the what price should report there, price from coinmarket or any specific exchange there is no absolute right prices to be honest.

Maybe rather than pricing it in fiat, the price should be measured on how many grams of gold 1 BTC is worth. After all, gold is still considered money and such a measure wouldn't particularly favor any national currency. I think gold and BTC are much more similar than debt created fiat currencies anyway.
It order to come up with a figure, we would probably have to use some kind of weighted average from several popular BTC exchanges and several gold markets.
142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does card counting really work in Blackjack? on: August 26, 2019, 12:14:30 AM
Well, I just got done having a 3 day gambling episode at Betonline.ag. They had a live game that was 6 decks and the rules were OK. Hit on soft 17, can only split once, and double down on any two cards even after the split. However, the deck penetration was only less about 50%. I tried to count the cards. It was kind of easy because they play really slow. Most of the poor dealers looked bored and tired. Unfortunately, I lost about .06 BTC. I am wondering if there are any games online that are good for card counting. One that has a deck penetration larger the 50%. I somehow think that what was offered at Betonline.ag was about the best that there is to offer. Guess it is back to my day job.  Cheesy
143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you guys started to gambling with cryptos or fiat money? on: August 21, 2019, 08:20:46 PM
Well, since I am 51 years old, I naturally stated playing with fiat, both online and in the meat space. Unfortunately, I got my ass handed to me by online casinos back in the year 2000. It was nice to play my favorite game, blackjack, from the comfort of my home without having to drive or fly anywhere. It was a bit too convenient.  Cheesy Furthermore, most blackjack games offered online play like it is a shuffled deck after each hand. Therefore my card counting skills where worthless.
Lately, I have stuck to only buying lottery tickets, here and there, in the meat world. I also play at online casinos a few times a year with BTC. However, my bankroll only consists of .01 BTC. Very recently, I have been playing at Bitvest. I have invested a very small amount and do their daily quests. I mostly play with the tokens on their daily quests unless one of the tasks is to bet BTC. However, they usually only require that you bet less than 20 K sats.

Thanks Bones, I have been to busy to keep up around here and meant to get back into that Livecoin scammer thread but I don't get paid and have to balance my time wiser these days. Wink
I edited my post to include both flags.

145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 21, 2019, 03:13:56 PM
To be honest this makes their story less believable.  It's too much information and a bad move theoretically.  They have no reason to come out guns blazing at the devs outside of making their story sound better.

They are obviously posting this so they can close the pair without making good on it and hope it will not effect the volume on their other pairs. They are just trying to prolong their scam exchange and steal what xmr they can, i don't doubt they stole it themselfs.

If anyone is displease with how Livecoin is handling the vulnerability exploited of XMR, and believe they are scammers, Please support the flags against them.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=308

These particular flags were raised by a user who experienced loss due to Livecoin's handling of the Mona 51% attack. However, the thread mentioned also discusses their handling of the Monero matter.

146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your least favorite Basic Strategy move in Blackjack on: August 21, 2019, 02:00:26 PM
But if you have these numbers in your hand 6 or 10 don't split them because when you split I think it might turn to the worst hand or weak cards. IMO

However, these basic strategies will not give an accurate assurance of getting a win in online blackjack but one thing for sure, it will increase your chances of winning.

Actually splitting 6s is not a bad move if the dealer is showing a weak card of 4 5 or 6. When the dealer shows a weak card, the player should take every opportunity to put as much money on the table as possible. If the game allows double after split, splitting 6s against a 2 or 3 is also a good move. I agree with the 10s though. 20 is a good hand and will win more than 80% of the time. One should never split 10s unless you are counting cards and there are lots of 10s and aces in the deck.(Like a +5 true count, and only against a dealer weak card.)
147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is your least favorite Basic Strategy move in Blackjack on: August 20, 2019, 10:46:41 PM
My least favorite strategy is splitting the cards because I rarely have the chance to go for a split and if I have a chance I always stand. I would only split if I get a 2 A's but  with any other double card i'll always stand or hit. I'd rather lose one at a time and wait for few minutes before going for a second bet rather than doing two bets in one round.

You should consider always splitting 8s as well. Two 8's total 16, which is the worst blackjack hand. Also, when the dealer is showing a weak card, like a 4 5 or 6 you should definitely consider splitting 2s, 3s, 6s and 7s. It may be a pain, and you could end up losing all the bets. However, it is best to be as aggressive as possible when the dealer has a weak card showing.
148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: btc is slow!! Confimations problem on: August 20, 2019, 10:15:44 PM

Bitcoin can borrow Something from xrp  wich is speed

In order for Bitcoin to gain the speed of xrp, it would have to change it's confirmation protocol. Instead of competing mining pools, Bitcoin would switch to having only a handful of designated servers that can produce a block. With EOS, there is also a limited number of designated users that are eligible to create new blocks. In order for Bitcoin to obtain speed, they would sacrifice decentralization. BTC is not going to do it. There is no way that you are going to get any kind of consensus to implement such a drastic change. Now one could argue that BTC only has a handful of pools. However, most pools consist of many independent miners that can move their hash elsewhere, if they so choose. Also, it is true that ETH has unlimited blocksize and 45 minute blocks. However, with all of the smart contracts and token transactions, the blockchain is massive and is a challenge for most users to run their own node.
If an altcoin serves your particular needs better, then by all means switch to them. However, the way that BTC is currently set up and the current network logistics, it is the most secure of all of them.

Now, can you please share with us the transation id of your transactions so we can try to help you? I'm getting suspicious that there really is no transaction, and you are just using this as way to promote altcoins over BTC, or somehow suggest we need to overhaul BTC, and make it more like other altcoins.
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 20, 2019, 05:42:50 PM
bad news for Monero and Livecoin
https://www.livecoin.net/en/news/view/304

who is right?

So they are delisting xmr without opening withdrawals? Does this means that they are simply cancelling everyone's xmr balance there without any compensation?

They claim they were hacked. Maybe this happened, we really have no way to know. If it did happen, then your XMR balance isn't there, the hackers took it.

They want the Monero developers to cover what they claim to have lost to a hacker, which isn't going to happen even if the hack actually happened and even if it was partially due to a bug in the software, which again we really have no way to know. 1. See above link/discussion about the license terms explicitly ruling this out. 2. If the developers covered claimed losses by exchanges this would open up a vulnerability where any shady exchange could claim to have been 'hacked' and start making claims against the developers. Again, this isn't going to happen.

When it comes to crypto exchanges, follow the ABC rule: Always Be Careful. Do not leave coins on an exchange any longer than necessary for trading. Use only exchanges that you trust not only to not steal your coins themselves but to have the technical competence, experience and processes in place to guard against hacks. Etc.

For those who have lost coins to livecoin, cryptsy, cryptopia, MtGox, etc., etc. you have my condolences but also my suggestion to learn from these experiences and protect yourself better in the future. I very much doubt we have seen the last exchange hacks, 'hacks', and exit scams.

What is really disconcerting about the news item is that Livecoin is insinuating that a Monero developer was probably involved in the exploit. I think their allegations teeter on the edge of of libel. What makes it more grievous is that Livecoin has a policy to freeze a users account if the user posts their allegations on the web. They will demand the user remove any "false statements" from the internet before giving them access to their funds.
150  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: 🚀 Bitcoin Turn - new bitcoin live queue 🚀 the project like nothing before on: August 20, 2019, 05:35:14 PM
No, we are not HYIP we are pure MLM scheme. You may get 100% after one hour or one week but it is guaranteed. We do not have fixed terms for interest payments like in Hyips programs. Therefore, everything is honest here, the project will work while the line moves. There is no dependence on the number of payment requests and the number of deposits. If the number of deposits decreases, then the queue simply starts to move slowly.

I wouldn't consider your scheme a MLM scheme. You are not really offering any product or service to "market." What you are offering is a pyramid scheme, and since investors are only paid from proceeds of later investors, it is a Ponzi.
I have flagged and tagged your account. Everyone else, please support my flag.

I have no idea why Yobit sets their maximum so high. All a 20 post maximum per day does is encourage people to post crap. As for people that actually join this campaign, I will not personally give them red trust. However, if they start spamming the forum, I will use the report to moderator button.

To all - just a heads up that faucet and quest bonuses have in fact been reduced.

Yes. Really bad news since they were reduced about 33%.

No,,, actually I think this is good news for everyone especially the investors like me. I play the quests whenever I login too, but for me the quests are just a side bonus to the real deal, which is the investment option. I make a lot more from investment but of course I know I could also lose if the house loses. Anyway, the quest is a small amount every day, no harm.

I agree. As an investor, I have benefited from Bitvest making me whole. The have to make up the losses from the exploit, somehow. I think it is preferable that they reduce token giveaways rather than asking their investors to share the loss. Technically, they could have asked the investors to share in their loss. After all, that is what most businesses would do. I am very thankful for Bitvest's decision to eat the loses out of their own pockets and reduce giveaways, for now.
153  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Livecoin.net Scam on: August 20, 2019, 04:01:00 PM
Scammers continue to rob users by analogy with the MONA coin
https://www.livecoin.net/en/news/view/304

I think it is very interesting that they are making the insinuation that someone on the Monero development team executed the vulnerability to profit.  Roll Eyes I wonder how much proof they actually have to bring up this allegation. It's disconcerting that they will freeze one of their users accounts for spreading "disinformation" about them, but then turn around and make an unfounded allegation against an established and trusted team. Monero is listed on several exchanges. I am not aware of any other exchange insisting that Monero return the lost funds. Weren't other exchanges hit with the same vulnerability? Or do hacker know to go to Livecoin for their exploiting endeavors?

One word. Insurance. I don't know why, but no matter the argument, it's my LEAST favourite basic of BJ.

I'm not too sure about the odds on this, but for any kind of Black Jack that offers insurance, some systems say it gives you a slight edge and you should always take insurance if you don't have any 10s. But it's bollocks to me to insure to win 2/1 for a roughly over 2/1 event and so I simply play no insurance BJ.

Actually, the basic strategy move on insurance is to never take insurance. The only way this ever makes sense is if you are keeping track of the cards, and there are way more 10s left in the deck than not. In a 1 deck game, after a fresh shuffle, this would be equivalent to no 10s being dealt with 2 hands being played. Since most casino games are more than 1 deck, this situation comes up very rarely. If you don't count cards, it's best to never take insurance or request "even money." (In an online game, it never makes sense to take insurance.)

Don't change your bets too often. A highly varying bet is usually a sign that someone is counting cards - all it takes is for the pit boss to be counting cards too to be sure you're counting, and then you're out of there!

I find that if you stick to certain rules when changing bets, you won't get too much heat.
1) Never change your bet after a tie. (Unless you plan on taking a bathroom/smoke break.)
2) Rarely decrease your bet after a win.
3) Doubling your bet after a win or loss looks like a standard player move. (Martingale, let it ride strategies.) Just don't get crazy with it.
4) Eat, drink and be merry.
156  Economy / Gambling discussion / What is your least favorite Basic Strategy move in Blackjack on: August 15, 2019, 05:30:23 PM
One of the 1st steps any blackjack player should take is to learn the basic strategy. Some of these recommended moves seem rather dreadful. Exactly what basic strategy move do you particularly despise. Please also inform us if you go against the basic strategy recommendation in such cases or do you grudgingly follow it anyway.
Here are some of my least favorite basic strategy moves.

Splitting 9s. I realize that when a dealer is showing something like a 5, it is best to get the most money on the table as possible. However, my experience with doing this move has been less than ideal. Furthermore, when I execute it at a brick and mortar casino, my fellow players seem to bitch about it. Especially when my move somehow took "the bust card."

Splitting 8s against a 9 10 or ace. I realize that a hard 16 is a rotten hand. However, having two 8s against a dealer high card seems even worse. Many times I end up with two or more bad hands, rather than one bad hand.

Hitting any stiff hand. It's rather unpleasant to hit a stiff hand and bust just to watch the dealer bust and pay the survivors.

Edit: Please reference this chart, before posting. Unless the community wants this thread to turn into a tutorial of what basic strategy is.  Smiley

On August 14, 2019, a bug was exploited in Keno. The exploit allowed anyone to win the maximum multiplier in "Top Bottom" mode when placing a very specific malformed bet. This resulted in a user winning a large sum of funds and withdrawing the maximum amount possible without triggering manual withdrawals. This caused irrecoverable losses to investors equal to the balance of the hot wallets.

We have taken the losses on ourselves and have paid back investors with our personally held coins. All investors who were part of the bankroll at the time of the incident have had all related losses credited back to their investments.

That was very kind of you to do that for your investors. I have a small amount invested in your site. I'm sorry for the losses. I see that Keno is back up again. I gather that you patched the bug. Also, it was nice for your site to not penalize people who could not meet their daily quest, since Keno was down.
158  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Biometric BTC wallet? on: August 13, 2019, 05:39:42 PM
I suppose retinal scan can be pretty secure. It is somewhat difficult for a person to get a copy of that.

Well, even a retina scanner can be easily fooled if you take a photo of a victim with a proper camera (infrared night vision setting needs to be turned on). That's how Samsung security can be bypassed.

Thank for pointing that out. Therefore, I would not use a BTC wallet that is secured by biometrics. I do not plan on wearing some kind of suit and mask that prevents my biometric data from being copied.
159  Economy / Reputation / Re: Game-protect flag on: August 13, 2019, 05:35:35 PM
"Believing is not knowing" constitutes as a real-world definition/fact! Cheesy

You can believe something and you can also know something at the same time. For example, I believe 2 + 2 = 4. I also know that 2+2=4. I'm not certain why you think if you believe something, you cannot know it as well.
BTW, you can frequently kiss someone, and later on kill someone. Just because you kiss someone, does not mean you cannot also kill that person. Just look at Judas. Doesn't the story go that he gave Jesus a kiss, that alerted the authorities on who to arrest? With the way everything turned out, Judas literally kissed Jesus and at the same time did something that ended up killing him.
160  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Biometric BTC wallet? on: August 13, 2019, 05:21:37 PM
Biometrics really aren't all that secure.

That's because Biometrics supposed to offer convenience and it's only secure against non-physical attack.

It depends on the Biometric used. Fingerprints are not that secure because a person leaves those everywhere. I'm sure someone can lift a fingerprint and create something that can fool a scanner. DNA is really not that secure either, since a person leaves traces of their DNA everywhere they go. Facial recognition is not secure either, since someone can easily capture your image, and use that to fool a scanner. I suppose a retinal scan can be pretty secure. It is somewhat difficult for a person to get a copy of that. It's not impossible though.
Naturally, as you imply, all biometric security is overridden by the five dollar wrench attack. Since a person only has one set of biometrics, they can't even set up a dummy wallet, effectively. I suppose someone could use a different finger/thumb print to set up ten wallets. However, a smart criminal will simply have you try all ten fingerprints.
