181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does card counting really work in Blackjack? on: August 03, 2019, 04:02:35 PM
I used to know of a barman who watched people losing on machines and then wait till the place was empty to then collect the now profitable slots return some of the cash deposited.

Huh. Didn't know there were slot machines whose odds changed when people were losing. Well, you learn something new every day I suppose.
That is not the way they are supposed to work.  Cheesy Also, my understanding was that most casinos don't let their employees play. I could be wrong on this point, though.
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does card counting really work in Blackjack? on: August 03, 2019, 03:38:06 PM
Start off by being competent at maths I think helps and also to do it in person requires a very good memory.   I wouldn't bet any size at all while practising such a thing, assume failure while you learn and of course the trick is old and looked for.

I have a degree in math and card counting requires elementary school math. (Counting up and down. Negative numbers, division and maybe some fractions.)I don't think this was my particular problem. Also, retaining a count in your head only involves short term memory. You do not need to be like the character in Rainman and keep track of the value of every single card..
Also, I just downloaded a simulator program, and according to my trial runs of several 400 million hand rounds, if my bet range was 25 to 100 dollars, the expected long term return was less than 1 dollar per hour.  Cheesy Perhaps that was my problem.  Many times, I would only bet between $5 and 25$. So the returns seem to be even more puny. Taking a "break" and playing another game like the slots, could have easily wiped out any returns. It appears that in order to get a decent return of 20.00 per hour, I would need to bet between $500 and $2000 per hand. I never had that kind of bankroll. Plus I am sure on the bigger limit tables, the heat one gets from the pitboss would increase..

That movie was a classic but more unrealistic in the world of the casino's actually beating up gamblers and not more or less kicking them off the property and not allowing them back.
I can only report two instances where I actually experienced heat in the casinos. In one, I upped my bet from 25.00 to 50.00 and the pit boss came over and looked at all of the cards in the discard tray. I knew what he was doing, so I left. The second instance, the pit boss simply pushed my bet back and stated that I could continue to play any other game but blackjack. Now that I have an idea of the expected returns from my card counting, it was probably of the least concern to them. Especially when they have other players on the table not playing the basic strategy.
I once had a player who was playing the no bust strategy and yelled at me because I hit a soft 17 and was "screwing up the cards."  Roll Eyes
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Does card counting really work in Blackjack? on: August 03, 2019, 02:19:24 AM
Back in the day of my heavy gambling. I fancied myself a card counter. I usually employed a simple count where 3-6 counted as plus one and 10s counted as minus one. I also did an estimate of how many decks were left to arrive at the "true count."  Unfortunately, my experience was not very fruitful for me. Part of the problem was that I started gambling online. Since most games that I am aware of basically starts with a fresh deck each hand, card counting was worthless. However, I don't think my brick and mortar experiences had me coming out ahead, either. I'm just wondering if the strategy of card counting doesn't really work.
It does perplex me that casinos have taken measures against card counting if it doesn't work, though. I even had the experience of having my bet pushed back and informed by the pit boss that I could play any game other than blackjack. If card counting is indeed a bunch of bullshit, I am clueless why casinos would prohibit me from playing, and apparently have now implemented continuous shuffling.
If card counting does indeed work for the right games, I am thinking the following factors may have contributed to my overall losses.
A) Inability to quit. I'm sure after being awake for 24 hours plus, my card counting abilities were probably hampered.
B) Drinking alcohol.
C) I may have been making more errors in my counting than I want to admit.
D) My bankroll was too small for the level of betting that I was doing.
E) In order to hide my card counting, I usually only had a spread of 1-4 units. Perhaps this is too small for card counting to work.

Please share with me your thoughts.

I don't think we need this nincompoop here. Their posts and threads tend to lack common sense and dumb down conversations, and help make scam accusations more confuse.
As Game Protect is since 3,5 years active with over 500 cases handled and never scammed anyone, the confusing part is to believe that anyone dealing with Game Protect is at a high risk of losing money! Cheesy

To understand this requires a functioning brain though and the confused believer likely have none!
Where are these 500+ satisfied clients of yours?
Where did I say 500+ satisfied clients?

I said: "with over 500 cases handled"

Do you have cases with no clients? Or do have have clients with multiple cases? I would think each case has at least one client. Some would have multiple clients. I would think having at least 500 clients that you represented in 500 cases is a conservative estimate. Also, as I mentioned before, you recently claimed to have a 100% success rate. Therefore, if you are successful, chances are pretty good the client is at least "satisfied."

I'll call it the game-protect paradox. So many satisfied clients. Yet few are willing to come forward and vouch for you.
I will call it the extremely mentally ill paradox: Allegedly so many victims who lost money when dealing with Game Protect since 3,5 years, yet no one was willing to come forward and post it on bitcointalk.org?!? Cheesy

I don't believe that you have many clients. Therefore, I don't believe that you have many "victims." I also don't see any proof that you are indeed qualified to pursue this line of business. I'm as convinced that someone is likely to piss their money away on your services as they would if they went to a wishing well and deposited their money there, in hopes to get their case solved.

I am certain Stormy Daniel's legal representation will do everything possible to make sure she gets the proper justice that she desires and deserves.

Pretty sad that it takes money to get justice in this country...

Isn't that "pursuit of liberty" clause or something.

No it falls under the right to have due process. A person is also supposed to have the right to an attorney, and if they cannot afford one, to have one appointed to them. Unfortunately, many public defenders have huge case loads and are underpaid.
186  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #breaking Stormy Daniels arrested on: August 02, 2019, 09:50:59 PM
...Just because the person has some fame or notoriety, doesn't mean that we need to go against the norm and throw the book at them. They are entitled to get their charges dropped or reduced just like anyone else....

I think we should hold officers accountable for their actions. If you're unlawfully detaining someone based on political bias, then you're breaking the law.

I am certain Stormy Daniel's legal representation will do everything possible to make sure she gets the proper justice that she desires and deserves.
187  Other / Politics & Society / Re: #breaking Stormy Daniels arrested on: August 02, 2019, 09:42:29 PM

So, any apologies from those that wrongfully accused her? When's this thread gonna get updated?

I would be surprised if it is ever updated. After all, this news story goes against the narrative. Therefore, from their POV, it must be "fake news."
To go back on topic, from my understanding, it is routine for charges to be dropped or reduced. Especially with petty matters such as this. Just because the person has some fame or notoriety, doesn't mean that we need to go against the norm and throw the book at them. They are entitled to get their charges dropped or reduced just like anyone else.

I would think with that kind of exemplary record, I would see many more people coming on this thread and vouching for you, either first hand or from friends that they told about their experience with your service.  Perhaps this is like the Fermi paradox. Statistics would suggest that we are not alone in the universe, but very little concrete evidence verifies that they are out there.  Cheesy I'll call it the game-protect paradox. No. if Lauda is excluded from DT1, he cannot be on DT2.
Lauda is blacklisted from DT1 (not excluded), and is still on DT2 (proof).

He wiped his trust&distrust lists a couple weeks ago and  washed himself out.

Wiping your trust list only disqualifies you from DT1 when Theymos does his monthly update. It does not instantly disqualify you. However, when Lauda was removed from DT1, it was not the result of Theymos doing an update. Lauda's removal also was not the result of more people on DT1 distrusting her than trusting her.

And? Stereotypes are not racist. Please learn the difference. People are racist. Stereotypes can be the ignorance of ignorant people, but not exclusively. Many stereotypes exist for good reason. Statistically Mexicans like tacos. This is a stereotype which generally happens to be true, but has nothing to do with racism. That's the thing about these kind of discussions, the definitions of the words and meanings are just stretched a little bit here, a little bit there, and a little more over here until some one discussing an uncomfortable fact becomes "literally Hitler".

You do know that black people are a little touchy about implying that they all like chicken and watermelon. Right? Since I am not Mexican, I am not aware if they would find this disconcerting or not. However, I am certainly not going to go there.

Your right. You have no idea what my ethnicity is. None at all. Don't project upon me. I don't care how dark your skin is, you are not the chosen emissary for all brown people, don't speak as if you are the only one to understand these experiences when the fact is there is no way you have any idea what I personally, or many others have experienced, just because they don't completely agree with you.
Your apparent insensitivity to this subject speaks volumes. Also, as a "brown person," I am qualified to speak on such matters, since I happen to be part of the population, and can share my first hand experiences.

As I said before "valid identity documents" is subjective. They may actually be valid documents, but what if they don't belong to the person holding them? What if there are inconsistencies as in this case with a validly issued but technically invalid paperwork? Their job is literally to check these things.

Whether a document is valid or not is an objective matter. There is no subjective gray area. However, I am sure a border patrol agent has to make a quick determination on whether a document may or may not be questionable, and warrants further investigation. I will concede that that part is subjective. However, in the end, it is not an opinion (subjective) but a fact (objective) on whether a certain document is indeed valid or not.

Also again, I would suggest that if the processing time bothers you, you support more funding for border enforcement, and stop encouraging people to flood in illegally by taking such a soft stance on illegal immigration. Maintaining a border under these circumstances is logistically difficult, and if it is not done, there will come a point where there will be no border because enforcement becomes impossible. I think you are smart enough to understand why that is not acceptable.

How on Earth am I encouraging people to flood in illegally because I would prefer US citizens should be able to cross the border and remain in the US with minimal hassle? Unless a US citizen is acting as a mule to smuggle across the border, they are not illegal and are definitely not immigrating. Furthermore, I only object to spending 50 billion dollars on a wall. Especially when a wall can be circumvented by both land and by air. If Congress wants to increase the budget for border patrol by 50 billion dollars to become better staffed and have better capability processing people that enter, I am all for it.

And yeah you want to enjoy the good things while you're young, not when you are a washed up hulk at 50. :-)

Yeah young and poor is ok.  Rich and old is ok. Old and poor, not so much.

50 is not "old."  Angry 50 is "middle aged." Also, being poor sucks at any age. I know from experience. (Although I am supposedly not poor but lower middle class. Sill sucks.)

Unfortunately, I do not have enough BTC to go out and buy myself a fancy new sports car. Perhaps I should make due and join the men's hair club, or something.
193  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [2] US children wrongfully detained. on: August 02, 2019, 05:09:46 PM
Tijuana is already in Mexico right? I'm just curious, are her parents also "American" or it's just her and her brother (what some people call "anchor babies")?

The mother is a US citizen. I don't know if she is naturalized or born in the US. They probably opted to live in Tijuana because it is cheaper than California. Why does it matter if the two were "anchor babies" or not? The 14th amendment made it clear that anyone born or naturalized in the US are considered citizens. (That was so legislators could not suddenly make laws to claim certain classes of people were not citizens.) If people want to revamp this definition, they will have to amend the constitution. I do not think such an attempt to amend the constitution for this purpose is going to get the needed support....
194  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [1] US children wrongfully detained. on: August 02, 2019, 04:43:53 PM
Let me ask you a question... If I were to say that a large percentage of the local taco shop's customers are probably Mexicans, would you consider that racist? Is it racist or just a natural consequence of the fact that Mexicans culturally tend to enjoy tacos? We are talking about the US/Mexican border here, as a consequence of this, the most likely ethnicity of people attempting to cross this border illegally are (GASP!) Mexicans. You are building this narrative as if they were stopped because border patrol is racist and just enjoys harassing brown skinned people, when the reality is they fit the characteristics of a common demographic of people attempting to cross illegally.

A similar narrative is pushed with the black community, where blacks comprise approximately 13% of the US population, but over 50% of the murders. Criminal activity has nothing to do with race, but a common culture. Blacks are not inherently criminals any more than Mexicans are inherently illegal aliens. This whole screaming racism act is just designed to distract from the cultural rot present within these communities so it can never be addressed. Who is the real racist? Those perpetuating the problems or those pointing them out so it can be addressed?

People swear this is because of racism, and not a culture of criminal activity and unwillingness to work with law enforcement. Every time some one is shot, even if they were armed and engaged in criminal activity, it is because of "racism". As a result police pull back enforcement from these neighborhoods, and then it gets even worse and they blame police for doing nothing. Given this country has become a police state, and that needs to change, but you also must understand that these kind of lies give these cops all they motivation and justification they need to further increase this lock down martial law type mentality. Who knew when you treat police like the enemy they treat you like the enemy? Funny how they works huh? This country is being pigeon holed into becoming a 3rd world country by exploiting the naive aimless empathy of its population. Empathy is good. Blind and unconditional empathy is dangerous.

OMG, what you just described above is the very definition of making stereotypes based on race.  Roll Eyes  I have no idea what your ethnicity is; however it does appear that you have little understanding of the inconvenience caused when people make assumptions (prejudice) based on the color of someone's skin. I do have experience in this area. What is disconcerting in my case is that people make assumptions on my ethnicity based on the darker tone in my skin. In reality, I am of mostly European decent and my skin color is probably caused by one great-grandparent being Hawaiian and another great-grandparent being Croatian.
An officer should never assume that they have "probable cause" that someone is up to no good based on what they assume their ethnicity is.
However, after looking at the particular case involving the 9 year old girl, It appears that her and her brother were unaccompanied. Therefore, the fact that they were initially taken into custody probably had to do with that fact, rather than their skin color. However, I still do not think it should have taken 32 hours until their mother could regain custody. Also, once they confirmed that the 14 year son was a US citizen, they should not have tried to get him to confess, erroneously, that his sister was actually his cousin, and sign a form. I certainly hope before they made attempts to do that, that they at least read him his rights.
Also, upon reading further into the case of the man held for over three weeks, it appears the suspicion was caused by a Visa that his mother had given fraudulent information for. She had stated in the application that he was born in Mexico, when applying for a visa so that he could visit Mexico. It also appears that his brother, that was in the car, was not a US Citizen. However, I still believe this matter should have taken less than 23 days to clear up. But i do understand why we was detained in the 1st place.

Whether a lottery is run by the Government or a private company, frequent audits done by disinterested parties should always be done. The only trick is to make sure the auditors are indeed disinterested.
197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here have some strategy to gain money, but with low profits daily? on: July 31, 2019, 08:51:52 PM
Some example, you deposit 100 USD, you use martingale method to gain at least 1 dollar (1%) and you stop, and do the same the day after

This is just a random example I made right now, but I want to see if there's someone who try to use a strategy to gain very small profits daily instead of trying with big bets

And guys, I know there's no 100% strategy, it's just curiosity

Unfortunately, at least once every two months, you will start out with a lose streak of 6 in a row. This will have you lose 63 dollars, and you will only have 37 dollars left.(So you will not be able to double.) Unless you mean to add $100.00 per day and never withdraw your bankroll or your winnings. Even with that strategy, that is a good deal of money to risk to only make $1 per day.
After all, to make $1 every day is very easy with the money deposited that much, if we do follow the OP. If you are familiar with dice games I'm sure you can get at least $10 every day if you really believe in playing with odds 2 or maybe lower, it can be adjusted to your target. I do not do this method every day and only when I want to do it, what makes me comfortable is that I can easily make that profit and play with confidence. The only thing that can mess you up is greed, so try to stop immediately when you reach your target.

Unfortunately, there are going to be those session where you never are even $1.00 ahead. In the end, it doesn't matter what you set your loss limit at. The amount that one loses in the bad session are eventually going to exceed what one wins in the good sessions.

Since I should have got a second vote, I'm going to do a write in candidate. I'm going to pick Quickseller.  Cool Too bad that I am not able to retract the 26 merits that I gave to him. It's clear that all these merits he is receiving are swelling his head too much.
200  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [2] US children wrongfully detained. on: July 31, 2019, 06:10:37 PM
I don't care if the kids have to be held for months. They shouldn't be released until their parents are there to get them. The parents should have been with them to cross a national border in the first place. This is the fault of the parents.

The border patrol has no business detaining US citizens for months. (Unless the US citizens are smuggling something.) Roll Eyes First of all, only 1 of the two children involved was having their identity questioned. They knew the 14 year old brother was a US citizen and should have allowed the parents to become involved much sooner. Furthermore, any fault of the parents does not absolve the border patrol of any mishandling on their part. Actually, the parents were not at fault. They had sent the children with a trusted adult friend to escort, as they had done in the past without incident. Unfortunately, the port of entry was extremely backlogged, and the friend thought it would be more expedient to have the children walk through and call them an uber to take them to school.  This matter should have taken a few hours at most to resolve, not 32 hours.
