Lauda is a "rat"
Everyone knows that Lauda is a cat, which is pretty much the opposite of a rat.
Seriously though, THOUSANDS of users have a vote now, even some bright red scammers. So all these DT complaints... meh. ATM, only 147 members have the 250 merit required to be one of the supervotes, according to BPIP. Not thousands. Guess we merit sources better get to work.

There is no logic in getting Lauda in the DT list. It looks too stupid to see a scammer having many numbers of green trusts. Let us presume that your argument that "Lauda is a scammer" is correct. When I view the trust comments Lauda makes, it would be clear that Lauda is a "rat" and has no qualms giving valid negative ratings to other scammers, if (s)he is indeed a scammer. Just like investigators in a police force use informants to get leads, I think it is still perfectly valid to add Lauda to my trust list and even be a member on the default trust list. Quite frankly, if someone is going to trade with someone, they should do more than just viewing the color of the number on the trust rating. They should do their own due diligence and actually view the comments themselves and make a judgement for themselves on whether the comments are valid and even apply to the current transaction they wish to engage in.

I can only put 4 on the list if i'm doing it right.... but i have trust in a few more members difficult case need some expansion You can add as many people as you want in your big box. The small box with the number in it is your depth setting. If you set it to 0, you only trust the people in your big box. If you set it to 1 you trust the people in the box and the people who they trust. If you set it to 2, you also trust all the people that the people on level 1 trusted as well. You cast a wide net if you set it to 3 or 4. However, at 3 or 4, your trust rating may have lots of junk ratings.

I'm going to guess $5535/Thank mic for another great game.

Congrats OP. I saw last night that your post about the video made you 3 short last night, so I made up the difference. Pay it forward.

I think you are jumping the gun since the list is going to be revised again on Monday. Unless major problems come up, I'm going to reconstruct DT1 again using the published criteria on Monday, so set up your trust lists before then. After that I'll probably switch to doing it near the beginning of each month.
Can't wait to see how this all turns out after Monday.

@sunbat92 Just so you know, your ban is on you as a person. Not just the account. You are not allowed to make posts that are not about your ban and not in meta. Since you made a post outside of meta with this account just a few minutes after your post, I went ahead and reported you.

You need to start Bitcoin with -addresstype=legacy added to the command. Then the wallet will generate the old style addresses.
It can be added to the bitcoin.conf file as addresstype=legacy. No need to change the startup command, especially for users who don't know how to do that. Can you start up your node with the switch; generate a legacy address; sign a message; close the wallet; then open the wallet normally; and go back to generating segwit addresses? I'm thinking to OP only wants to generate a P2PKH to sign a message.

I don't see any point of report to DT button really. You can leave -ve feedback yourself and open thread on Reputation or Scam Accusation board. You should ask to tag with proper evidence. If use report button then people's will misuse. As marlboroza already said PM him once you find any suspicious scam a activity. Don't PM for that you don't like someone and you want to tag you. You should tag first with proper references. Usually I open thread on Reputation or Scam Accusation board once I found any suspicious activity and obviously I tagged them first, you can check my trust page. Sometimes PM also to few DT, but I PM post link because need proper explanation why I think that user should be tag. Sometimes need attached picture, so how you will add you multiple picture on report button. DT have no enough time to check your link one by one. Surprised ! You are asking for Report to DT button but you haven't tagged any scammer yet. So please forget about this button. Open your brain button and use it. You do some great work. Manually added you to my trust list. I encourage others to do the same.

I never thought for once that smart contracts were made to replace lawyer. It's just a way to enforce rules that two or several parties agreed, and cooler stuff like making your own asset on the blockchain (token). There is no way smart contract can replace lawyer, it doesn't help you defend your case, it won't help you find evidence if you're alleged for a crime nor it gives you suggestions on how to act in court.
Furthermore, a smart contract won't advise you if the smart contract is a good contract to get into in the 1st place. I certainly wish the DAO had that feature before I wasted a smidgen of my precious BTC on that shitstorm.

Don't worry. He can always cuddle up to his cold hard silver bars.

We can debate both the Bible or science, I'm just saying matter cant be created or destroyed that's all that;s a law of physics. What do you mean I didn't know the subject?
Matter is created and destroyed all of the time. A highly energetic photon can create a matter/antimatter pair. Likewise a matter/antimatter pair can annihilate each other to create a photon. Furthermore, a proton can be converted into a neutron by emitting a positron and a neutrino via the weak force. The positron is then usually annihilated quickly by encountering a electron. This creates a gamma ray photon. The latter process that I explained is what is keeping the sun going.. In the end, the mass of a alpha particle (which is basically the nucleus of a helium 4 atom) is actually less than the four protons that were fused to create it and the two electrons annihilated. The mass is converted into the energy of the two gamma photons created when two of the protons were converted to the neutrons. Edit:It appears the proton-proton chain is a little more complicated than I inferred. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proton%E2%80%93proton_chain_reaction However, in the end, you do get matter/antimatter being created and destroyed and mass being converted into energy.

I'm doing my best to not respond to him. However, I still don't have him on ignore. I think it is hilarious that he thinks he's winning the argument when Theymos either increased the number of source merits many of the "gang" can give or made them new Merit sources less then a day ago. It's clear that he is not getting through to the correct person. Quite frankly I will give much more credence to Theymos' action then any of his tldr troll rants.

If you are looking for newbies to merit, the Bitcoin Development & Technical Board as well as the Bitcoin Technical Boards are a good place to start. Some newbies come up with some really good questions and answers.
I don't doubt you at all. The problem is that I can almost guarantee that most answers would be over my head, technically. I might be able to tell whether a post is a shitpost or not, but I don't trust my technical knowledge enough to know a good answer from a bad one. Still, I'll keep that in mind. This has been mentioned before, but remind me: Is the Bitcoin Development & Technical Board a section that tends to be under-merited? That's a section I have on ignore, but not because of the quality of posts. It's because of my own ignorance. All of my education has been in fields having little to do with computer science, and when I see people incorporating a lot of tech jargon in their posts, my eyes glaze over pretty quickly. I'll keep an open mind on this one and un-ignore that section for the time being. Many of the answers are over by head too, TBH. However, if someone is spouting an error, it's pretty common for others to quickly point it out. Also, the questions and answers sometimes inspire me to go out and do my own research. I don't believe that the two boards are particularly under-merited. However, if you ever grow weary of trying to hunt out newbie posts by sifting through a great deal of muck, there is much low-hanging fruit to be picked in those two boards.

I'd love to be able to give out 5-8 merits to some exceptional posts (but I would reserve such a large grant to ranks lower than Hero), but previously there was no way I could do this and still have enough sMerits left over to merit all the other good posts I see.
Thank you for checking my meriting history for the last 120 days. I haven't even been a merit source for that long--I think it was at the end or middle of september when Theymos added that batch of 36 new sources. I've been trying to spread out merits to deserving posts (and NOT just the really good posters on Meta who don't need them to rank up) but always ran out of sMerits even when I became a merit source. That's why I had to ask Theymos for this favor, which I'm grateful for, as well as for his reply here. I may disagree with some of his administrating tactics, but he's no dummy and I've seen worse administrators.
I'm on the hunt now mainly in Economics/Speculation, Meta, and Reputation, though occasionally I stray far from my usual sections. Yes, I definitely do have a lot of sections blocked, but that's because there are only so many hours in the day to read and write on bitcointalk, and I just find some sections too spam-infested to even bother with. I would be tickled pink to be able to merit a good post by a Newbie in Bitcoin Discussion, but trying to find one of those is incredibly difficult just by searching and reading through posts--that's why there needs to be some sort of reporting mechanism. The individual threads don't seem to be effective.
I will say this again: ***If you're a lower-ranked member and think you or someone else has made or found a post that's gone unmerited, drop me a PM and I'll take a look.*** I've made the offer in other threads, but got zero takers. In the PM, just write something like "Merit?" and then a link to the post. I'll either merit it or I won't, but you can be guaranteed I'll look at the PM, the post, and most likely the member's post history as well.
If you are looking for newbies to merit, the Bitcoin Development & Technical Board as well as the Bitcoin Technical Boards are a good place to start. Some newbies come up with some really good questions and answers.

Out of merits now Merit sources where art thou I need more merits
Mmmm bones didn’t you had a double upgrade of stashes Tried to make a haiku of it .... But still need to try better cause still not getting it Next one must be spot on before posting My well of source merits is overflowing at the moment. However, I have to guard against being too generous and carefree. Don't want to see a bunch of sour grapes bitching showing up in Meta and reputation boards about my meriting behavior.

That would be like Trump allowing Mexicans to vote on whether a wall should be built or not. I thought they were the ones that were supposed to pay for it. Guess that was just a bunch of BS.

Lightning is still beta software. Users should experiment with only small amounts of BTC, or other compatible cryptocurrency, until LN is more mature.
If people want to experiment with the LN, they should use the test network rather than the main network. What is considered a "small amount" now could very well be considered a significant amount in a few years. I for one am going to continue to wait to use it. I attempted to set it up several month ago, but found the whole process to be a PITA. Thank goodness that at this stage in the game, the setup process isn't exactly idiot friendly.
