So you are brand new to the forum, and know the way it  "Should work" Huh

Lol.... Tongue

Must be someone who noticed that their trust score just turned red with all the untrusted feedback now becoming trusted feedback.  Cheesy
1062  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Source Message on: January 16, 2019, 05:08:10 AM
Best solution right now, if you can't wait like other merit sources for your merit to replenish before you start meriting again and don't have earned smerits to send then Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source. I'm sure your follow merit sources will be glad to help merit those posts you report there.
Its doesn't going to happen. As I mentioned on my first reply he is spending merit on shitpost then how you expect that he could find good post. Will you encourage to send merit on this kind of post ? I don't think even any others merit sources will consider to send merit such as shitpost. Problem isn't about merit budget, problem is he sending merit on shitpost.

I wouldn't exactly call them "shitposts." People are just posting their guess on what a price should be to participate in a contest. However, I agree with you. They are not exactly merit worthy. I shouldn't complain too much though, since Globb0 did give me 2 merits for my guess.  Grin Not exactly my best work. Perhaps if Mic runs another contest, he can give out a bonus if people put some kind of rationale on exactly why they picked the price.(He's done that before.) I'm a sucker in giving merits to people who post charts along with some TA.

Hey everybody. If I have a new "fan" sending me PMs, will I be able to ignore them by adding their name on my ignore list?

Never mind, I figured it out.  Smiley

For anyone else that wants to know, just select profile; then select personal message option, then just add your new "friend" to the ignore list.
1064  Economy / Reputation / Re: Just learned that I am now a DT2 member. Please advise on: January 15, 2019, 05:21:12 PM
I recently ended up sending 2 neg and 1 neutral trust comment for this person.
Andrey123

Am I being a little over the top? Please advise.
1065  Other / Meta / Re: CENSORED FORUM, ANYTHING NEGATIVE on: January 15, 2019, 05:17:01 AM
If I were to say "buy silver" then would my post be deleted for being off topic in that same thread?

In the Bitcoin Technical Support board? Most definitely.

... if someone reported it. Mods don't read every post in every thread. But yeah it's most definitely off-topic there.

Well I do read almost everything in that thread. You think that I would let that pass without reporting to moderator?  Cheesy

congrats to regulars here who are now on DT2 - means they're pretty well-trusted in the wider forum

I am surprised because I don't really understand how to use it.  I have not really actively given trust feedback to anyone, so far.

I was surprised too. How you get on the Default trust 2 trust list is because someone on the default trust 1 lists manually added you on their trust list. I went ahead into my trust setting, picked heirarchy view and found out that a user named tmfp placed you on their list. You can be removed from DT2 if one more person in DT1 decides to exclude you than put you on.(Or the people who orginally included you remove you from the their trust list) It appears that your name came up in the discussion about the new changes is a list here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5095156.645 Some people are questioning why certain members are now in dt2 with no trust feedback history.  Some pruning is probably going to take place in the next few days. It's up in the air if any of us on the dt2 list will be on it for very long.
1068  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 15, 2019, 03:03:23 AM
This needs to be verified but I don't like it at all (sorry if it's a repost) :

https://www.longhash.com/news/bakkt-bitcoin-etf-fail-to-get-green-light-amid-us-government-shutdown

Quote
The Bakkt delay is due to the fact that the company requires the approval of the US’s Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). According to information obtained by Longhash, the shutdown has moved that approval date back to April.

Well, it would be nice to know the exactly who their sources are. Otherwise, fake news. Cheesy

What if we tried not to engage him for, like, say, a week, and see what happens?

It's like the siren's call. Maybe xhomerx10 should have us trade in our hats for earmuffs.

Wow, I think some tilde keys are going to be getting a lot of use.  Cheesy

That's my inclusion and I can assure I'll be watching it for any potential improprieties... top notch investigator though and has the right mindset for DT.

Thanks for giving some of us the chance to be DT rookies.  Wink
1071  Economy / Reputation / Re: Just learned that I am now a DT2 member. Please advise on: January 14, 2019, 07:59:52 PM
OK, this is probably a dumb question. I currently have 2 DT1 members who have trusted me. How many other DT1 would need to distrust me in order to be kicked out of DT2, completely? I think the answer is 3, but I'm uncertain. I also realize that I'm excluded if both of the DT1 members are excluded by more peers than included. Correct? (Naturally, I'm out if both of the DT1 members remove me from the list.)
1072  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: January 14, 2019, 06:28:00 PM
I was on the DT2 list for a very short time. Just started to paint the farmers account - immediately disappeared from the list (probably due to the fact that dropped TheFuzzStone)  Cry

I hope this doesn't discourage you from continuing to leave valuable trust feedback. The lesson that I have learned is that making valuable trust feedback matters even if you are not on DT1 or DT2.
1073  Economy / Reputation / Re: Just learned that I am now a DT2 member. Please advise on: January 14, 2019, 04:39:57 PM
~snip~
It hurts when you are the only one don't get any response from thread creator. Cry

The reason that I didn't respond to your original post is that your theory on why I have been added to some people's trusts lists is likely not true. If you click on my trust, you will discover that my trust feedbacks are quite limited at this point and even more limited a few days ago. (Like I think that I had two trust feedbacks.) My selection likely had more to do with my regular post history and possibly my conduct as a merit source. Whatever the reasons, I am greatful for the opportunity to help bitcointalk become an even better platform with my small contributions.
Furthermore, the purpose of this thread is not to discuss my worthiness as a new DT2 member. I'm just wanting to get some advise from the veterans. Also, since there are now 50 DT1 members, I suspect there are now many new DT2 trust members that can benefit from asking questions and getting advise as well.
1074  Other / Meta / Re: CENSORED FORUM, ANYTHING NEGATIVE on: January 14, 2019, 04:12:32 PM
@ OP. Plenty of your posts pointing out why you feel cryptocurrency is a fraud have not been deleted. You have had ample opportunity to spread your message. If Bitcointalk truly wanted to censor your message, they would have nuked your account, getting rid of all or you posts. Your post in the Bitcoin Technical support was likely deleted because it was off topic. Your post offered no technical advise to the OP of that thread to either recoup their coins (which you are correct is next to impossible) or to prevent this from happening in the future. I suppose that you can argue that you were giving advise, which was not to get involved in crypto in the 1st place. The moderator of that board likely deleted your post because they felt that your post may derail the conversation away from assisting the victim, to a discussion on the irreversibility of cryptocurrency transactions. Quite frankly, I think the topic in particular should be locked, since lately none of the posts are focused on assisting the OP of that thread.

Just a word of advise for the people participating in this thread. Since this conversation is in meta, it should be constrained to talking about the fact that the OPs post was deleted and the merits, both good and bad of that moderation. If the OP and others wish to discuss the irreversibility of cryptocurrency, open another topic in a board that is more appropriate than meta.
1075  Economy / Reputation / Re: How is false negative red tags handled on: January 14, 2019, 05:42:27 AM
So I picked interested in the whole trust feature of the forum after the recent hype and S_Therapist was advertising it all over meta with his guides, infograph and importance of custom trust list.  I now have a custom trust list and have started red tagging. Still playing it safe though but will up my game after some of my questions are answers. I was about red tagging a ban evasion offender then notice he red tagged someone else (with no evidence) for red tagging him. So  below are my questions;
  • if I get a false red tag (no valid evidence) how is it handled, will it be removed or countered with a positive trust after appeal
  • Is there an exeption to breaking of the rules accounts shouldn't be red tagged for?
  • Are there some offends only DT memebers can red tag account in which the average users can't.

The best way to handle it is to appeal the red trust with the person who wrote it. However, the only way the person's red tag shows up on the trust numbers for an individual depends on their trust settings. Otherwise, it just shows up under the section "untrusted feedback." Most people have not fiddled with their trust settings, so it is set on default trust with a depth of 2. If you have customized your trust setting and want to see what your score looks like under the default settings, just go to a page with a post of yours in a section that displays the trust scores. Then after the url just add ;dt. If the tag doesn't show up on default trust, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, although these false tags may be more of a concern if there is a big move for people to start to customize their trust lists. For example, on my untrusted feedback I have someone accusing me of spreading a fictitious disease to newbies.  Cheesy

Actually EOS is where it is at. Centralized blacklisting of addresses is exactly where we want to be.

Isn't coinbase blacklisting coins?
Ahh, here we go. It starts with these guys and it will be blackilisted for missing a court payment by 2025.

https://www.coindesk.com/us-regulators-tie-two-bitcoin-addresses-to-iranian-ransomware-plot

Meh, a business can refuse to do business with someone for "reasons" except in regards to race in the US. Just like a certain cake maker in Colorado doesn't have to make me a wedding cake. AFAIK, Coinbase doesn't have undue influence on actually preventing miners from including transactions in blocks.
However, in EOS, the block producers definitely believe putting together blacklists is the way to go. https://news.bitcoin.com/eos-decentralization-questioned-as-block-producers-freeze-accounts/

What are the hats in aid of?
They're all ripple shills. They seem to get everywhere nowadays.

IN XRP WE TRUST!
Talk for yourself, man. I got paid in Cardano for wearing my hat. But my signature's still available!

fuck you guys

TRON all the way!!

Actually EOS is where it is at. Centralized blacklisting of addresses is exactly where we want to be.

Good job. It's nice to see the trust network expand. You already seem to be doing fine by taking it seriously and welcoming feedback.

The only advice I'd say is not all feedback needs to be positive or negative. You can leave neutral, it still shows up under trusted feedback just doesn't do anything to the trust score. It a good way to get your point across about the user, that you don't feel necessarily warrant a green or red trust score.

Yes, I already left neutral trust on the alleged bought/stolen account mentioned in this thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5096906.msg49220607#msg49220607 I do believe that people should be given a heads up, but the person launching the complaint doesn't exactly have a pristine reputation and the supporting evidence was less than lackluster.
1079  Economy / Reputation / Re: Just learned that I am now a DT2 member. Please advise on: January 14, 2019, 03:40:21 AM
Why would you give a feedback to a user who you didn't have a transaction with?

Unless and until the person scammed, or did questionable things that might warrant a negative, you don't really have to give feedback to any said user.

I was thinking that it would be nice to give positive feedback for people who pay back their loans. However, I read the sticky about the confidence game, so I'll just leave it alone.

Congratulations on making on DT2, nae the Cult of Laura. Fwiw, you don't need to have any P2P interactions on this forum to give out trust, so long as you have the right mindset and be a nice bitch to Laura and follow her orders, you'll do just fine.

I hope that membership in this cult does not bring about the expectation of being invited over for dinner. A cat just can't be trusted around my two guinea pigs. I don't want any misunderstanding that coy is on the menu.

How does that transaction make you trust the person? Perhaps if you had an example it would be easier to advise.

Generally speaking though - there is no need for affirmative action here. There is no positive (or negative) quota so whatever you feel needs to be conveyed to the community as (un)trustworthy - that's what you do. If that makes you a negative Nancy then it's more a reflection of the shitty state of this forum than your personal character.

OK, I'll just do what I think is right. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help out the community the best way that I can.  Smiley

Yes, in my opinion.
You can give positive feedback to someone without any need for their to be any related trade at all..
Look at The Pharmacist's positive feedback from DT.. Whole bunch of them with no trades..

I also think that just because you are on DT does not mean that you have to tag every scam you see, or any. Don't feel pressured to leave any feedback that you don't want to..

Thanks for pointing this out. I may not go out and start writing glowing reviews to my favorite bticointalk users at this time. However, if the mood strikes me, I may in the future.

1080  Economy / Reputation / Re: I was blackmailed on: January 14, 2019, 02:21:12 AM
@everyone. This thread is not about jeremypwr. This is about the blackmailer who might be an alt account of someone else in the forum and who might also blackmail you.

jeremypwr is one of the best campaign managers in the forum. This does not change that and I do not take my removal personally or any of my future removals by any other campaign managers personally. It was only a signature campaign.

I only tagged the perpetrator of the extortion. It's jeremypwr prerogative to not want to work with someone who he feels slighted by.
