I know a bit about software development myself. I also know that the "testnet" as present in many coins (including Gulden) is artificial. It's good for one stage of testing, but afterwards you'll have to test it again in an separate main network (few VPSes that only connect to each other would suffice).

Malcolm has complety changed how testnet works for Gulden, to make sure all kinds of situations (and PoW2 phase) can be tested. It's far more advanced than "testnet" of other coins.
So please make sure you are informed before you make such blunt statements.

Still, the "testnet" is artificial, independent of how more advanced it is than anything else. Some case slipped through it and bit Gulden's users in the ass, which shouldn't have.

My evaluation of the witness system is it gives power back to the people and greater community. At the start of bitcoin ordinary users mining with CPU or graphics cards who cared about bitcoin had more say. Today the mining industy is about pools sending coins to exchanges to get dumped into btc and then straight into fiat. Bitcoin itself is at the mercy of large Chinese mining farms. Witnessing is a game changer for the industry.

Was this really a problem with Gulden?  Most miners from Gulden are already members within the community (for the mining industry Gulden isn't profitable). Witnessing is still dependent on mining, mining still dictates when witnesses come into play.

Wow, the perfectly tested update didn't trigger perfectly.

I am a software tester for a software developer and even after testing new software in a test environment intensively without any issues, it still happens that in a live situation things happen that didnt happen in the test environment. It was a minor hickup that was tackled relatively quick. No Gulden were at risk, no Gulden were lost.

Dedication.

Nice to see some words with value amidst all that. I still get surprised sometimes by those people with bigger ego than knowledge, who think that any hickup is a prove that they are right.

I get the impression that Rich P.  and Mike are among those pathetic people who think they just deserve a big gain and don't care what it takes to get there. I'm not sure what to think of them, to me they must either be pretty stupid or they are manipulative runts only interested in personal gain with no remorse for anyone except themselves.

I know a bit about software development myself. I also know that the "testnet" as present in many coins (including Gulden) is artificial. It's good for one stage of testing, but afterwards you'll have to test it again in an separate main network (few VPSes that only connect to each other would suffice). Many dev teams don't really care that they are operating in a million dollar market, where downtime of a few minutes could potentially cost users millions. Banks have the same problem with this and crypto could solve that, if devs only would care that they are playing with people's money if they make changes to the consensus network.

I've earned my money with crypto. No need for me to have Gulden be successful in a financial term. I want Gulden to be successful in a way that Bitcoin was made to do, but has not being able to get there. Gulden has/had a better chance for that, but everyone is looking only at their own finger instead of where it points to.

In about 2.5 hours the phase 2 of PoW2 will start.
Get your Raspis ready and your funds sorted.
Witnessing incoming.

Malcolm did this update for dgb who have a lot of marketing and hype specialists , the marketcap would be over $ 2 billion after this update.

The sad reality is the price will stay the same or Biomike will dump to give Rijk the middle finger.

I do not know if Biomike will dump Gulden because it will cost him a lot of money when it moons.  Grin

Never go full in, never go full out. If it moons, it will crash at some point again.

A bit more action on the markets would be nice though, this is boooooooring!

At github, there is no update since 2 years. I think this coin is dead.

If there is one developer as a single point of failure he prefers to go fishing. Not bad: island is a wonderful country.
But if you want to become islands bitcoin you have to work hard for it not just sit and wait and hope something
beautiful will happen one day.

Thats why Apple / Amazon / Ebay / Paypal rule the world: develop a product everybody likes and push it to become the number 1.
Not just check email once a week and dream about something.

(

You are so right! I am going to get rid of my aurora coins...sad coin team (if is there any...)
And I think the coin will be out of Bittrex soon with so low volume..

We had some development until start this year, check the "Development" branch. It just hasn't been released yet.

Do you have a target date for the release of this update??

That was march, but I moved since then, so no new date planned. The moving caused more time of being out of the running than I expected. Also some parts of my build environment updated since then, which caused me to make some changes to the code again (which I did last week). It builds again now on my dev system, but I need to update the Windows build environment and test the updated code on my MacOSX environment.

Thanks for the prompt response BioMike.

It sounds like you have a lot of work on your hands.  Can you give a clue as to what the new update will do for Auroracoin?

Yeah, development is mostly only on my plate. The new client will mostly be code restructuring (for future development) and being able to be build with recent toolchains. The wallet/coin works and the blockchain runs smoothly, so no really new, sexy features.

I gotta feel for Malcolm, one of the best updates in crypto history and traders are taking a dump on it. Although the guy will be able to walk into any crypto development team, it would just leave a big void for large holders of gulden. I hope he stays with Gulden and not let the price be a indication of what people think of his development.

Don't worry! Rijk is not only a dictatorial narcist schmuck, he's also a smart one. That's why he ripped off his community by selling 650BTC of "shares" first so he can pay the South African mercenary with a coin that has actual value. If he would have paid in Gulden, he would be gone by now indeed.

Speaking of which, how's Pandacoin (the coin that he worked on before) doing these days?

I can't say anything, but I expect it to hit 1,80€ before Sep

BTC is going to increase so much that all the locked NLG cause not enough sell power to drop it further. :-D
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: July 06, 2018, 09:26:43 AM
I honoustly do not understand why people want to sell @ these prices but maybe someone can explain that to me?  Huh

Because you can make a nice profit with trading.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: July 05, 2018, 08:51:53 AM
Gulden will either maintain value or increase if the team keep things up and a marketing angel comes and saves the day.

Marketing angels have been shot down by the dozen over the past few years. As for increasing value, not in it's current implementation. The reward drop was removed and replaced with a single drop to 0 in a long time to go. The ECB is reducing the flow of new money into the European market... Gulden just keeps printing.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: July 04, 2018, 10:41:51 AM
Can we stop comparing Gulden to ICO’s! It’s like comparing apples to pears. Completely different products.

Gulden is a blockchain based payment system. One of the few projects worldwide with their own blockchain. And probably the safest ever build.

Let’s compare Gulden to Euro or Dollar, that’s where it is targeting at. To make it easier, faster and cheaper than those paymentsystems.

That's why you have to market it, not to get the ICO crowd on board, but to Henk and Ingrid so they can spend it at stores. I'm not a marketing guy, but even I can understand this. This sponsoring of that gocart dude is nice, but without some solid backup it's pissing away money.

Nice to see the update is finally there. Please note there is a small bug in it that occurs at install when you update from an old version on windows.  File: key.cpp line 307 . Expression: secp256k1_contextSIGN==NULL
The program requires your pw before you can enter it at boot directly after install. Luckily, if you restart, it is gone. Good luck with Gulden.

Months of postponing because it needed to be tested into perfection... nuff said.

We have Rijk to thank that he found Malcolm to do the hard work.

Rijk didn't find him... He is a cousin(?) of WaterLooDown.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: June 26, 2018, 10:36:50 AM

Let's focus on Gulden

Only 2 days untill big 2.0 update on 28-06-2018

One time  Grin

Deadlines have been missed before (shouldn't this have been released months ago?). Let's see what gets released first.

<edit>
Lots of dumping on Bittrex... Traders aren't biting I guess.
</edit>

This is a non-moderated thread, and I intend to keep it that way. People are free to voice their own opinions and facts, always check those facts yourself.

Of course you can keep it non-moderated, as you are unable to put it on moderated any way.

It's almost like your talking to yourself, isn't it?

Would have been nice if he used the quote tag. ;-)

Why are they giving ETH away? No faith in their own coin?

he is south african so i think he is black

If you would have lookup up his mugshot on the site of the company that he works for you wouldn't have made such dumb assumption.
Seriously, the word "apartheid" comes from that country, which should give you a clue that not everyone has the same skin colour.
