Welcome aboard, GGGGG

I heard the news and was excited to have a try:

Still nothing on first page but these are the options when you are about to pay your invoice.

Heres the payment address.

After the first confirmation: it's done. Simple. I paid 6 months. The only personal data I had to provide was my mobile number.

1364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: February 04, 2013, 03:13:48 PM
Good news.  Mining on BTC Guild with vardiff seems to have dramatically reduced the restarts.

Which cgminer version are you using?
For stratum Im using the latest xiangfu openwrt solution with cgminer 2.10.4 running 27 icarus and my rig is constantly restarting,

before update was using cgminer 2.7.5(non stratum) and the 703n was more stable.

edit: Im read the review and confirmed it is the *same* version!
What changes did you make to reduce the restarts?

About a month ago I remember there were BFL threads being closed and moved here there any everywhere!

I've seeing the same with these Avalon threads.

Its nice to see the trolls are being kept busy with a massive series of fuckups and a flood of threads.

Here is a list of Avalon threads on the 1st page...

Are you going to notify your current and past clients or are you just going to pick a random date and time out the clouds??!

I might be able to help with this. I asked exactly this question and he said to make sure I was registered to get updates and they will be providing info soon. He said there will be a newsletter on it.

My guess is that we will be required to post some sort of proof of ownership. I don't mind this, but I am worried because it looks like Batch 1 will be complete here within the next week or so.

Hi Raize. Thanks for the info. I guess all should be ok then. I for one subscribed to their mailing list. Also many of us bought ngzhang's Icarus boards and I'm sure Yifu has access to (or can ask for access) to ngzhang's previous customers list. But if they want some sort of proof beyond that I'm not sure what would satisfy them.

You mean batch 2, right? Batch 1 was the first pre-order batch that is currently shipping or has been shipped to customers. I think the Avalon team should allow all their previous customer to get credit towards a new Avalon system regardless if Batch 2 is closed to regular full-price purchase orders. I don't think it will make that much of a difference for them as I have a feeling that they have by far more NEW customers than previous ones trying to exchange their old fpga boards.

I dunno, I just hope they won't screw us over by not providing ample notification before opening the doors to the website where we can get credit towards new Avalon units. What I would do if I was them is give 2 to 4 day early noticed via e-mail and then allow for a 48 hour window for people to place their orders. I'd also open the order window on the weekend when more people are likely to have spare time. The 2 to 4 day early notice gives people ample time to purchase BTC if they need to do so.

This.

I was expecting them to open the tradein process before the normal orders -- I even sent email asking about this possibility -- to allow all of us to get the credits and be ready to buy.

But that was not how it worked.

Still waiting to be notified.
1368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: discount on Avalon ASIC - read this on: February 04, 2013, 06:25:21 AM
I am old costumer. But I cant afford tradein all my boards -- I am buying some AVALON myself while providing new costumers to them. (only a few)
People who otherwise wouldnt buy for 1500 have a chance to get for 1200 and be a client for future upgrades. All is profit to Avalon Asic.

Sounds reasonable to me.

the tradein option -- the square on the right with the nice Lancelot blue PCB picture -- just vanished

two good questions:

first - why not offer to ship these without power supply? Everyone have easy access to that item so it only adds extra wheight. I would rather have bought mine without PSU if I had the chance.

second- sorry I forgot  Cheesy

I am not native speaker but:

http://launch.avalon-asics.com/?page_id=778

Trade-Ins - Avalon will continue to honor our old customers providing trade-in programs of old generations units, FPGA, and in the future for first generation ASIC modules. The Trade-In Orders are not part of the 600 unit limitation existing in Batch #2.

Probably they are not taking them for batch 2 or or each one of us shall get refund sometime later. I have asked for clarification, but no one respond Huh

I am not native and got confused at that too. I just want to GET CREDIT.

maybe its 600+tradeins

but, anyone will try to place an early order.

I dont want to pay 1500 in bitcoins plus refund of 299$ in Cash or in btc(a month later) that sounds weird

I want to pay 1200 in bitcoins, ship the board back, they confirm my order and board is a match, they ship me ASIC.

what do you think?

+1
But unfortunately i have a feeling that it is not going to work that way for batch 2 Cry

I paid 3 boards, 1200 each. So thats 24 boards left. Still waiting to get notified about and when to return the boards.

1377  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 12 BTC - Discounted Icarus FPGA [UPGRADABLE to Avalon ASIC] on: February 02, 2013, 02:07:53 PM
12BTC each good luck  with that 380MHash is that for the entire unit or per card
12BTC = 240USD. They're worth 300USD towards a trade in of a 2nd batch Avalon. Can you see why people would buy these?

crazyates got it
You mean all the 27 units?

each worth 300USD

Quote
from the website

The no bullshit, no fine print terms of sale

We Accept Bitcoin Only – Bitcoin allow us to collect large sum of assets in a short period of time, and due their nature the bitcoins can also be move to where they are suppose to go in a similar time frame. We are aware this will introduce Import issues for certain EU and SA countries. Avalon ASIC hope re-sellers will take this opportunity to grow and take care of this problem.

No Refunds - The Avalon units are made on a built-to-order basis. This means when you place an order, your bitcoins are used to order parts to construct your Avalon Unit. Refunds therefore are impossible. Utilizing a short time frame, batch based, and built-to-order method allows to manage finances properly and reduce risk for all parties. e.g. Avalon ASIC, the re-sellers and the buyers.

Trade-Ins - Avalon will continue to honor our old customers providing trade-in programs of old generations units, FPGA, and in the future for first generation ASIC modules. The Trade-In Orders are not part of the 600 unit limitation existing in Batch #2.

Im sure im not the only one confused about the exact meaning of the bolded as the OP says you will accept in this batch#2 preorder.
this overtime term of sale smells like fine print c'mon. Im considering buying one or two and I hope you sell everthing but just say something and stick with that, changing rules in the last minute doesnt help.

He's saying that in batch #2 they will sell 600 units to new customers, and will continue to make units in batch #2 available to trade-in customers even after 600 units have been ordered.

I think.

Now I get it. Very nice. So I need that button GET CREDIT to work. NOW. Grin
or hopefully before 9?
