701  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Vale apena comprar em outro país por BTC? on: May 21, 2013, 12:49:38 AM

Look they exist, and Ive soon so many avalons this month Im kinda bored.
703  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [2] countdown! on: May 20, 2013, 05:53:13 PM
The reason nzhang has to hire a security detail is due to the perception in China that he is raking it in, not necessarily due to the fact.

In our hallway conversation with Yifu after his talk, I believe he mentioned that Batch 2 was a break even to money losing proposition (someone else who was there can confirm).  This was why the price of Batch 3 went up.  SMT lines aren't cheap.
I do not understand.   Why buy an SMT Line if you are not going to make machines anymore?   I thought Generation 2, they were just selling chips?

Maybe they're renting one.

Bah, you posted first Wink

Well all that kind of doubt would vanish if they open the factory to some people from the community, after crowdfund the machine is that a rude thing to ask for?
704  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 20, 2013, 05:45:35 PM
First solo block:

https://blockchain.info/tx/cba743ea1b7904c5624e0ee75f12d177ceb214c07f8e8b55ff2eb082404eb54a?show_adv=true

From now on the solo result of ASICMINER will have "Mined By ASICMiner" within the CoinBase.

Another disappointingly brief update.  NOT.

Bravo Friedcat!

Bravo, indeed.

Imagine Mozart comes to your house and sits down to play your piano. At the end of the first piece, do you

a) ask him lots of questions about what he's going to play next
b) tell him to be careful with your piano because it's really valuable
c) tell him how to play

or

d) enthusiastically applaud him and look forward to what he plays next?  Smiley

very nice words, but excuse me, Im not listening to Mozart, when is in fact ASICminer who is soloing at the moment. And its beautiful.

708  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: May 20, 2013, 01:50:35 AM

When you reset, somehow, it should go back to default, which is, accordinly to the avalon user guide: 192.168.0.100

Well that worked..almost. I could enter failsafe-mode. Here's the instruction:
--
To get into failsafe mode, power up the device and wait until the LED starts flashing (about 2Hz). Once it starts flashing (within about 4 seconds) then quickly press the button. The LED will then flash much faster and the device will be in failsafe mode.
--

Failsafe IP is 192.168.1.1. I could telnet to the router. I checked

root@(none):/# cat /etc/config/network

config 'interface' 'loopback'
        option 'ifname' 'lo'
        option 'proto' 'static'
        option 'ipaddr' '127.0.0.1'
        option 'netmask' '255.0.0.0'

config 'interface' 'lan'
        option 'ifname' 'eth0'
        option 'type' 'bridge'
        option 'proto' 'static'
        option 'netmask' '255.255.255.0'
        option 'ipaddr' '192.168.0.100'
        option 'gateway' '192.168.0.1'
        option 'dns' '8.8.8.8'

Everything seems fine. Anyway, after rebooting I'm not able to ping or ssh 192.168.0.100.

Edit: Fixed it!
After making the filesystem writeable with "mount_root" /etc/config/network looked differently:

config interface 'lan'
        option ifname 'eth0'
        option type 'bridge'
        option proto 'static'
        option ipaddr '192.168.0.100'
        option dns '8.8.8.8'
        option gateway '192.168.0.101'
        option netmask '0.0.0.0'

Changed it. Reboot. Problem solved.
(And back to my original problem. Will probably talk about that later..)

Thanks for your great and fast help!

After entering failsafe mode you also reset to default settings.
Code:
mtd -r erase rootfs_data

Im using the latest 703n image(cgminer2.10.4) and now I have backup router again

711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin (Documentary Film) on: May 19, 2013, 11:14:16 PM
This is absurd. This is anything but a documentary. It's an impressive piece of propaganda, but to be a documentary it needs to be more than "These bitcoins are the solution to everything and they will fellate you in your sleep"

Dude, thats what trailers are meant to be. And they did it!

@topic

717  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch [3] countdown! on: May 17, 2013, 08:08:48 AM
that 30% diff jump was scary.

The hashrate drop makes me think ..... What if this isn't variance but alot of Avalons now getting packed for shipment..!!! B2&B3? Just guessing.... Cheesy Wink

This was actually mentioned by someone else in a different thread. Something about a few THs dropping off the network suddenly.

Sorry I have to summon one of my favorite forum creatures

720  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: May 17, 2013, 06:34:04 AM
Friedcat and evorhees are basically mirror images of each other.

One, busily and actively improving his company's image.  Looking at future-growth and new endeavours while always recognizing that shareholders and their needs come first.  Friedcat is running the most successful business in Bitcoin, today.

Then you have evorhees, the blatantly dismissive CEO of what could be a successful company, but instead, he has desires to drive share price down (for reasons unbeknownst to us) to serve his own ends.  Little drive, no clear ambition, and his company is going down the tubes.

As a newbie to investing, it is particularly enlightening and it takes a certain percentage of humility to admit flaws in one's own investment strategies, and I have recognized very early that when investing, you must try to put the company aside and judge the people running said company first and foremost.  And that is why ASICMINER and friedcat will continue to see my support.
They care.

And when they care, they SHOW it, as opposed to telling us.

Thumbs up ASICMINER team.  You're doing well!

well done
