Block #7 !!!!

Edit: halfway UTC, we are only 1 less of our daily block record of 8 blocks - could be this be the day?!

Yea, nice to be at 7 blocks when you wake up....Until you check on your rental, only to find out that the highest hash is not hashing and falling out of the 5nd...

thanks! will try this out asap.
I indeed did not use the double point!! It was unclear to me as the documentation said:

--usb <arg>

I'm mining a week @Johhny Bravo's but still no payout; can anyone recommand a pool for a smaller hashrate (90GH/s) or would you go solo?

At 90GH/s your going to be making dust, so under most pools there is a 0.001BTC minimum for payout to be sent. So you need to look for/find a pool where your payments will accumulate until you get over the min amount and then send a payout.

I don't like doing pool suggestions, so all I'll say is that you need to find a pool that you can set a minimum payout on and have it sent once it's over the set amount. So check around on Johny Bravo's and see if there is a minimum payout setting or ask in the pool's support page. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1330452.0

Also, I don't think they have found a block in the week you've been mining there, so until they find a block, no payment (all pools are the same). You only earn a payment AFTER a block is found and if your mining with-in the time frame the pool has set. IE: the 5nd

Also just thought, when you do the --usb :# it would probably be better to do the U3 last, that way you can have the U3 unplugged until the compac's are hashing. I don't think cgminer will know which is which and may pick one of the compac's as the U3 and the U3 as a compac.
23  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: April 12, 2016, 01:10:27 AM
when I do this the cgminer quits immediately. What should be the usb <arg> ?

In order to limit the number of usb devices cgminer will initialize to 1, which is what I think you are trying to do, use:
Code:
--usb :1

This doesn't specify which device, but if you only have 1 plugged in it will initialize that one.  Then you can plug in more and this instance will not try to see them.

I read the whole thread and I searched for it but I can't seem getting this right, sidehack.

Can somebody just help me with the USB arguments setting. I just want to select 1 USB device:

cgminer lists 0,1,2. 1 and 2 being the sticks

my command:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb 1 --compac-freq 220

when I do this the cgminer quits immediately. What should be the usb <arg> ?

As Mikestang showed. You have to put the ":" in front of the # --usb :1 and space between usb and :

So, if you want to do just 1 device in it's own cgminer, but have 3 devices, you would do:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb :1 --compac-freq 220
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb :1 --compac-freq 220
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb :1 --(whatever it is for the U3's)

In any order you like.

Or you could do 2, 1 for compac and 1 for U3:
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb :2 --compac-freq 220
cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333 -u justchillz.CGa -p *** --usb :1 --(whatever it is U3)

I am holding a Bitcoin Meeting at Starbucks on April 23th 2016 at 10am at:

Starbucks, 3235 Tremont Rd, Columbus, OH 43221

If you are interested, please RSVP to:
Bitcoin@MintMining.com

I'm in Ohio, but up around The Mistake by the Lake (home of the Cleveland Clowns  Tongue).

Now a days the only time I do ~2 1/2 hour drive, is if I'm headed out fishing or headed south to Tennessee.
26  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Running Miner off of Deep cycle batteries - expected drain? on: April 07, 2016, 10:44:48 PM
That 600 amps is over 20 hours, not 24 hours. AH rating for deep cycle batteries = how many amps over 20 hours, to drain the battery to zero (which is bad for the battery) and car batteries are figured on 10 hours.

So, to get the battery to last for years (and not months) you only want to pull around 50%, so figure 300 amps.

Plus, as sidehack was talking about, the fully charged battery is going to be around 12.7V.
27  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: April 03, 2016, 04:52:46 PM
@connersc

Plus with the compac directly plugged into the Pi, it may be causing heat problems in the USB chip from pulling the power to run the compac.

It may have just happened to hit some over temp cut-out just as the block was found (just a guess ??).

something weird happened when i got onto the site

i cant post a pic of it in this thread

but it was on the last block spot

showed

pool 13M (404065)
network 795481m (404066)

logged in and it was fine

Probably from the re-start?

They don't realize that leaving during a slow block is the WORST you can do, unless you're getting out of mining for a longer period.
If you leave during a slow-streak, once your 5Nd catches up and we hit blocks, you will have literally mined for nothing and lose any chance to make up for the losses.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm pointing my miners away to make some coin as my rentals end.  I can't keep them pointed here since the payouts are not coming for the 2 blocks we did get.  Some of the workers have been mining kano since January and I've always held through bad luck and grown.  Without the payouts though, there is no good plan.  This is longest I
have waited on payouts here.  I've already made .15  off only 20TH for 8hours as they end.  The idea being to switch away the ending ones to catch some comeback money from big china as they end, though I will be waiting a while on those payouts also.     I have theorized this is better for the pool also.  Instead of dropping 10 rigs every couple hours for 24hours, I redirect them at once leaving what I can have steady mining Kano.  I do wish the payouts would send.

It's no help, but kano said it would be ~12 hours before the payouts are sent and that was about 10 hours ago.

Closing in on the "devil" block  Cry

Put ~12TH rental on, so hopefully "WE" don't hit or pass the dreaded 666% block!

And the chicken is going in the crock-pot for some home made chicken noddle soup  Grin

NICE to wake up to 6 blocks already today!

With a little over 11 hours to go, maybe 11 or 12 blocks for today would be fantastic!  Cool

BLOCK  Grin

Finally! Now "WE" can get on with Block Saturday, to make up for a non-block Friday.. Grin

And with 0.55687924 BTC in fee's!

38  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: GekkoScience Compac Overclock Contest on: February 23, 2016, 04:25:52 AM
Guess I could always put good old #80 in (from the solo club pool overclocked contest) and see if it wants to do over 435MHz. Did have it start a couple of times at 465MHz before the contest, but couldn't get it to start that high reliably, so settled on 435.

Ran it for 60hrs, even though the contest was for 24hrs and with just the stock heat sink with fan for cooling.

But, I'll probably just watch this time.
39  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: February 21, 2016, 04:46:35 AM
I had one yesterday that was giving me fits during final testing. It worked on my bench, but failed to submit shares after fully assembled and put on the test rig. So I took it back to my bench, popped the heatsink off and it lit right up. So I tried reflowing that pad with my iron and twice more it did the same thing - disconnected as soon as the top screw of the heatsink was tightened down. For reference, the output pin is on the top edge of the ASIC.

I will test with a fan and no heat sink

I'll have to try that on my 1 that does that also.

Interesting - I got two new batch 2s (for three total) and one of them constantly resets and eventually stops doing any work.  Right now its ID # is 784

so I have

   0: COMPAC 10002125: 300MHz                  | 18.01G / 16.60Gh/s WU:231.7/m
   1: COMPAC 10000268: 300MHz                  | 19.06G / 16.59Gh/s WU:231.6/m
 784: COMPAC 10002121: 300MHz                  | OFF

As you can see I've disabled it for now.

I have the voltage set the same on all three and they're all running at 300mhz.

I need to do some testing and see if the problem is the hub ports or the stickminer itself.

I'll report back once I figure it out.

The same compac above (10002121) continually gets "no valid hashes for 10 secs" and then resets - and just continues that cycle.  I haven't figured out why yet.  I need to get it on a different machine to drop everything to stock settings and see what happens.  It may be that this one just doesn't like 300MHz +  (which would be odd)

Just a simple check to find out if it's hub power, pull one of the hashing ones and see if #2121 starts hashing.

If it does, you know it's the hub's power.
