Can you believe how absurdly warm it is here, Phil?  I'm on the porch having a coffee and a smoke in shorts and a t-shirt.  If it wasn't so much rain, I'd probably even pull the boat out of storage and put her in the water Tongue

Yeah it is really warm. Wife and I are going to the jersey shore to walk the beach.

It is raining but at 72f I am not going to miss out on a beach day in Dec
I hear that.  I was only half joking about my boat... if we didn't have company coming over, I'd put it in the water.  I'd probably be the only idiot tooling around Brigantine, but just to say that I did it on Christmas Eve would be worth it Smiley

Enjoy the walk with your wife!

LOL, I'm actually going fishing with 1 of my cousin's just to get out of the house and we'll probably head out again tomorrow...  Wink

Not sure if the one in your link will work or not. The power input/output is lower, the Superbpag that I know works good with the Pi2B and sticks is this one http://www.amazon.com/Superbpag-Portable-Charger-Transfer-Samsung/dp/B013OK10YM

That one is rated 5V 14A 70Watt, the one you linked to is only rated at 5V 2A 10Watt.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RM5OF70?psc=1    this one is the other one it's rated at 60 watts, your is better and its cheaper.

maybe is just my hub and batch two thu anything i throw at it just works, mines this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707235 I have it self powered at 7-24V either over a 110 or 240 line tried both but really saw no need for 240.   the PSU, i have does Output:24V 3A to match the hub.

Just seen this (red), I forget who it was now (we were both looking at these), but they were told by the manufacturer (?) that these are not built to handle being pushed to the max over a long period (or something like that).

And if I remember right, no matter what you put in (12V, 15V, or 24V), it will only put out the standard USB 2.0 Amps per port (might have been a little more, but not much). So basically, just a better built powered/non-powered (basic) expansion hub.

Solo is back up.

YEAH!

Woke up (way) early and seen every thing moved back to solo. from the de.

yeah just in time. looks like the avg time to hit block is working out. happy hour time !

i made it to full 5dn, then i left for abt a day, obviously it will drop back, but wheni'm back, it's supposed to go back up ??

rewards been dropping instead of going up again ? hmmmm

confused Huh

As the pool hash rate goes up, the reward goes down (if you stay at the same hash rate).

karma dictates we will hit a block on the de server.  (I hope)

Fingers crossed, would laugh my ass off if we did hit 1...

Was wondering if anyone else has batch 2 working with BFG ?. I guess, I should have asked.

I have batch 2 working fine on bfgminer using pi 2 version B (via usb 3.0 powered hub-Superbpag)
pi "jumped" on sticks in a a fraction of a second-they basically started blinking as soon as all connections and commands were there.
However, I tried initially to connect batch 2 stick direcly to pi 2 USB slot and this did not work for some reason (maybe these slots are underpowered?), but i only gave it a few seconds to try.

what hub , mine only works with batch 1 and it's USB 2 , i tried not just with RPI, i tried with cubie boards or that type ARM cpu and rpi. i just got a cubie board 2 today im gonna give a shot and have a new firefly coming , I love those little PC , once i can afford one i may buy one of top end new cudie boards that just came out .

what setting are you using . my stick is seen, it start blinking all most right a way but then nothing else even after i let it set for 20 mins , as i said id rather use BFG but CG will do as well, what ever it takes Smiley.

Hub: Superbpag
I used default settings (did not specify any settings)
sticks jumped to ~11Gh ea from the get go
maybe your bfgminer does not have all recent updates?
just delete the bfgminer directory and redownload everything
i used the instructions here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOLDrSiI_ic
to the letter

Code:
cd bfgminer
screen -S Mining ./bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://POOL.com:PORT -u USER -p PASSWORD

for eligius specifically, I used
Code:
screen -S Mining ./bfgminer -o stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -u USER -p PASSWORD

tried that link, you actually got a usb 3 hub working on a RPI cool. i have yet to get one to work .I know some do but finding it can cost a lot over time.

This one http://www.amazon.com/Superbpag-Port-Cable-Charger-Black/dp/B00W4X3DAA or this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RM5OF70?psc=1, I'll buy it after Xmass  Smiley .

89  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 21, 2015, 01:06:21 PM
The bsmc option has been deprecated a while ago.

Cgminer --benchmark should detect and hash at 56Ghs if the zadig driver has been installed and the device visible with cgminer -n.

Cgminer ReadMe lists the new options for the U3
(--au3-freq or something like this)

If I remember right, cgminer defaults to --au3-freq 225 and --au3-volt 775, so no need to add that in "yet".

Also I think there was a problem where cgminer 4.9.1 (or was it 4.9.0) did not work with the U3's for some, so philspain make sure you are using cgminer 4.9.2.

And lastly (anyone else that has tried), didn't Windows 10 change something, to where zagdig would not work???
90  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Dec 11 to Jan 11 Sidehack Compac Stick pool club latest setup. on: December 21, 2015, 01:34:20 AM
Just adjust VCORE on the new sticks and make sure your hub can handle 4.

Thanks for the info, but I was wondering about the pool. Do I have to set the other 3 sticks to donation or can they all mine under my single worker?

you can use the one address.

part a money is always 1 part per forum member------ one, stick 100 sticks or  1 stick and 5 s-7's  just has to be at least a stick.

part b money is  (every share you mine)/(every share we all mine)

The stick and the donation  were done early like 70 days ago  we made a few changes in prizes and to keep the list easy for crytpoglance we just let it stay.

I just combined my sticks Friday, took 2 off the Jake36donation and put them on Jakes36stick.
91  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 13, 2015, 04:39:27 PM

Get some cheeeeaaap usb cables and cut them and use the 2 power wires, then just plug the fan's into another powered hub would probably be easier.

Having a few problems with the R1 reliably driving the Compac, but think I am up and running with both now? When do the official Stars get updated?

Thanks

Rich

I don't know if Philip is able to access cryptoglance's club monitoring page yet or not. If not cryptoglance will update it, but it might be a few days, depending on how busy he is.

After getting PC back up and running (lost my HD and for some reason the back-up wouldn't work  Angry ).

Pointed a ~5TH rental to the pool for 12 hours.

EDIT: Had to drop it down to ~1.7TH.

U2 is pretty old - I use one for most ckdb/pool code testing I run at home.
Mine works fine all the time, never had a problem with it.
Might just be getting old?
... of course I use linux also Smiley

it's a new one  baught "new" ...it's perhaps my computer?

Are you using Windows? If so, it might be turning the usb port off, to save power.
95  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on Rapberry PI on: December 07, 2015, 10:10:43 PM
Hi Jake36 Smiley

If I remember right, WU = work utility or something like that.

Ok, thanks for the clue. A google research with "cgminer work utility" gave the me the following:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=424095.0

Give the pot a little bit more of a turn on the low one and see if WU increases.

I tried. However i didn't notice any real change. Does it mean that the miner is faulty?

And why the Pi's have trouble with a lot of hub's, is some of the hub's back feed power to the Pi's. So you got the Pi trying to send power to the hub, the hub trying to send power to the Pi on the same cable and the hub usually wins and causes problems with the Pi.

In my case both the Pi and the Hub have their own PSU.

The 1 usb 3.0 hub that I've found to work with the Pi 2 B and compac's, is the Superbpag 7 port 70W 2Amp per port hub. I only have the Pi 2 B, so don't know if it works with any other Pi models or not.[/color]

Thanks for the information Wink

No, it's probably just not enough power from the hub to do 3 @ freq 210 or the green. Or could be like one of my sticks, set them all by eye with the flat at about 10-11 o'clock with the usb pointing down at 6 o'clock. One stick would do crazy HW error rates no matter what, turned the pot 180 degrees (4-5 o'clock) and it runs with 0 HW errors.

A lot of hubs don't have the data (port between pc/Pi to hub for data) port isolated from the power for the regular ports. So they are also sending power back to the Pi's along with data on the syncing cable
IE: power from the Pi port going out ---><--- power from the hub port going out, so power coming from two sources on same the cable.
96  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on Rapberry PI on: December 07, 2015, 06:06:33 PM
Hi everybody Wink

Although it might not be related to the slight trouble described above, it noticed on the Cgminer window console that the figures in front of "WU" (in the far right of the screen) one of the compac (i currently run three compacs) does not look like the other figures.

Here is what i got:
Compac 1 WU: 166/m
Compac 2 WU: 162/m
Compac 3 WU: 45/m (only ?)

I set the frequency at 210 Mhz and the hash rates of the compacs are all between 9-12Gh/s

Btw what does "WU" stands for Grin

Have a great day Wink

Jeff.

If I remember right, WU = work utility or something like that.

97  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 05, 2015, 01:16:22 AM
for BFGminer:

--set compac:clock=*** (decimal, not hex)

you can fine tune them by:
- setting them at the frequency you want to achieve (assuming your hub port can deliver the W)
- setting core V until you get no HW error using the "screw pod"

coming back to this command-I tried to use it, but compacs don't initialize (say DEAD in red/yellow) when I set it at 180, although I waited just 30 sec.
I think the default is 150, right? With wiper at ~ 600-650mV (flat at 4pm), what would be a good starting frequency?

Default is 225, the compacs will run at that freq if you do not include any command, but the frequency setting shouldn't have any effect on bfg reporting your compacs as DEAD.  You may have other issues.

Your freq should be set based on the available amperage to your stick.  I think 250 is right around 0.9A, so good for a usb3 port.

I find this whole command line finicky.
Sometimes it starts OK, sometimes it says
"got 0000000", then start, sometimes just hangs.
my bfgminer directory now also somehow auto-executes whatever I paste there without hitting return/enter.

EDIT: I keep trying to run five sticks on Superbpag. Four -zero errors, fifth-10% error, and it is not the stick because it does not matter which stick I try (it is a different one each time), but tend to be one of the latter slots (CBMs). Anyway, getting >53-54 Gh from five sticks at default frequency and mV. Next-oveclocking with Y cable.
Do you guys have a particular fan you favor? I am using little Arctic USB fan, but its flexible neck is too darn short.

I've got a old 5V case fan hooked up and just zipped tied in place along with 1 of the arctic usb fans.

Kind of strange about the superbpag, I've pushed it kind of hard, with 7 sticks @ 275MHz for ~6 hours and never had trouble (just noticed the superbpag getting a little warm, so stopped). Right now I've been moving sticks around, but got 5 sticks @ 250MHz in it.
98  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 02, 2015, 12:08:22 AM
Order was cancelled in time, thanks for the help its much appreciated....

So what's the general consensus for a hub to both power and transmit data for 5 compaq's?

This one works good

http://www.amazon.com/Superbpag-Portable-Charger-Transfer-Samsung/dp/B013OK10YM

It even work's with Raspberry Pi 2-B (Pi's are very picky on hubs and will usually never work with usb 3.0 hubs or even some 2.0 hubs).

It will do ~2 amps per port, I've ran 5 sticks at 250MHz for over 2 week's with only about 3 HW errors (once you get the pot on the stick adjusted).

Interesting re 5 sticks on Superbpag (BTW, I second the Jake36 and zOU opinion)-I failed to run four, but maybe because I hot-plugged them without reset.
Three are good with almost no error for a couple of days.

BTW, how did you fit five sticks there? When I tried to put two sticks in adjacent slots they touched. I was not sure if this is OK or not.

Superbpag is 70W/14A (7X2A slots). I also just got an incredible 3A Y-cable from Cali. The thickness of it...the only caveat is the f-f coupler (to link Y and stick), which is less formidable, otherwise, I am ready to try for overclocking when i have a bit more time.

Find some thin rubber (or even plastic) pads to stick on the back edges, just to be safe, and they also leave room for air.
99  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 01, 2015, 11:59:54 PM
Yeah.

Is it better use the Gekko cgminer one or bfgminer?

from those example:
GekkoScience cgminer:
To build use --enable-gekko flag.

./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr --compac-freq 250
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

bfgminer:

./bfgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -O 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr --set compac:clock=x0b83
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is highest cpu the new gekko can run with and still be stable?
Is any difference on using cgminer or bfgminer for best performance stability?

From the solo pool club's 24 hour over-clock contest

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1243205.msg13054095#msg13054095

After 24 hours was up, I let it run until it hit 60 hours, a lot of HW errors because I didn't get the power dialled in. But Sidehack and (I think) someone else has done higher.
