I got (or will get) my first payout with the sticks. LOL Don't know how much (probably only dust), running in balanced mode with this pool and kano's pool (added it as another worker under my other hash). Only ~199.99 more years to ROI, instead of ~200 years to ROI...LOL

I'm using the Pi 2, getting ready to do another build, been having trouble with saving the configuration file in cgminer-gekko. Think I narrowed it down to libjansson-dev, but not sure yet.
Are you sure that your config file is not damaged? If you're been cutting and copying from web pages, it might have high ASCII or other unreadable characters in it. I don't know what platform you're on, but you probably can "clean" the text to make sure it doesn't have whacky characters in it. On the Mac there's a tool called TextWrangler (it's free) that has a "Zap Gremlins" command that removes non-ASCII characters. Very useful. No, it's after the build and cgminer is running, when I hit "s" and "w" to save the cgminer.conf file, it quits cgminer and kicks me back to terminal. When cgminer is running, if I hit "s" and "c" to restart cgminer that's where the fatal json error message comes up and with another message saying it can't read the cgminer.conf file (because all it makes is a blank file). Even when I fill in the cgminer.conf file with pool/s and freq, it can't read it. I'm not sure about how to resolve the conf. file problem. BUT... Don't bother trying to "Restart" cgminer from a running instance. It is a LONNNNNnnngggggGG know fact that, that particular function "ReStart" is/has been broken. If you NEED to ReStart, your only choice is too "Quit" and run .exe again. That's the problem, it should be as simple as just typing cd cgminer-gekko (if not already in the dir) sudo ./cgminer and have it start mining on the pool/s (after filling in the pool/s and everything "once", without any more typing. But because it can't read/write the cgminer.conf file I have to type: sudo ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.Jake36stick --compac-freq 150 every time. Edit: that is on a Pi 2 with fresh and updated install of 2015-05-05-raspbian-wheezy on it. And scrolling back after every step of the build and seeing no errors in the build. Hmmm, that gives me an ideal, try building with out updating raspbian and see if maybe something in the updates are not compatible. Edit 2: I have cgminer-4.9.2 running on a second Pi 2 with the same raspbian on it, but it reads/writes the cgminer.conf file, but it was done back around when 4.9.2 was first released.

What kind of power do those hubs put out on the ports? Looked at those before, but never could find the power output, so forgot about them.

Here you go: -- novak Thank you novak! I was afraid of turning it much on my own. This explains a lot. Has anyone used the RPI 1 B with it and RPI 2? I was wondering if there is any noticeable difference for this with the RPI 2 that is worth the upgrade cost of getting another PI. Was not sure if worth buying one or not. I'm using the Pi 2, getting ready to do another build, been having trouble with saving the configuration file in cgminer-gekko. Think I narrowed it down to libjansson-dev, but not sure yet. One difference on the Pi 2 is 1GB of ram and Broadcom BCM2836 ARMv7 Quad Core Processor at 900 MHz. So not sure if it's worth the cost to upgrade or not.

Phil, where did you get those USB bridge thingies?
I'm talking about that board that has two male plugs that power a single female plug in the top middle.
I assume that one side is power only?
Those things are hella fancy. But all my my USB hubs are verticals so i could not use those one exactly. I will probably have to run them in a single socket or find some y connectors for the USB sticks that fit. Or not and try to figure out the freq/volt at which i can run the stick without burning a socket. Those are very fancy. Phil has also showed use these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1Ft-USB-2-0-A-Female-to-2-x-male-Y-Splitter-Extension-Extender-Lead-Cable-Power/221661361513 (I think that was auction could be wrong). I'm waiting for those to show up someday to try to OC on the cheap. How well did the cheaper splitters work on OCing that much? Yes those are the one's. Only problem is the SLOOOOOOOOOW row boat from China

I had a pc crash will try it tomorrow .
I was able to fire up a different pc and it is running windows 7.
this gear runs better with windows 7 . then windows 10.
my lone windows 10 build does not want to do more then 4 sticks.
my windows 7 in the mac mini vm is doing 5 sticks.
my replacement pc is doing 2 sticks (the tester sticks which use different drivers)
so at this point I am using 3 pc's to run 11 sticks.
I need to know has anyone gone past 5 sticks and the run keeps working.
for now things seem to get a bit buggy past 2 sticks. and over 5 is a no go.
I just have 5 sticks, so going over 5 ? (would like to get at least 2 more to fill the 7 ports on the hub). Finally did track down the problem with cgminer-gekko and the Pi (I think, have to try another build after work), it gets a fatal "json" error in the config file. So going to try to do a build without libjansson-dev and see if that takes care of it (or if it will even build without it).

Tried another build on the Pi2 with 2015-05-05-raspbian-wheezy , this time from putty I restarted cgminer with the "s" and then "c", after restarting it shows
"fatal json error in configuration file" "configuration file could not be used"
I have been doing the builds with libjansson-dev, so tomorrow after work, I'll try one more time with out it and see if that takes care of the configuration problem with the pi.
Which I think it will.

In my case it's just the way it is with my ADSL connection (last night from 10pm to 4am it happened 6 times ... only one of those was my daily reconnect by design ... that was the worst number in a long time)
They have been upgrading the lines in the neighborhoods around me, to improve quality! I guess getting connection speed going slow back to normal or dropping connection for a minute to over an hour multiple times a day is "improved quality" by today's standards. Sure beats that old standard of steady high speed and maybe dropping connection maybe once or twice a week.

OK, ran in to a problem with the Pi/Raspbian and cgminer-gekko, it will not write the cgminer.conf file. Every time I use "s" then "w" it ask for name and I hit enter, it stops (also try typing in /home/pi/cgminer(even cgminer-compac)/cgminer.conf).
I'm trying to add more pools, so I can run 1 stick at philipma1957 Sidehack stick solo pool club and then have 4 pointed at solo.ck my self.
I've got it set to where it starts mining as soon as the Pi starts, but all 5 sticks are on 1 pool, until I add 4 more pools with "p" and "a", and switch to balanced (trying to get everything automatic (no typing)).
1 time when I tried it, it did make a cgminer.conf file, but it was blank. So I edited it to add the pool info (copied from another cgminer.conf file): { "pools" : [ { "url" : "stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333", "user" : "Jake36.worker3", "pass" : "" } ] , "api-description" : "cgminer 4.9.2", "api-mcast-addr" : "224.0.0.75", "api-mcast-code" : "FTW", "api-mcast-des" : "", "api-mcast-port" : "4028", "api-port" : "4028", "api-host" : "0.0.0.0", ("au3-freq" : "220.0",) to "compac-freq" : "150" ("au3-volt" : "810",) to "compac-volt" : "" also "0" and removed "expiry" : "120", "hotplug" : "5", "log" : "5", "queue" : "1", "scan-time" : "60", "shares" : "0", "suggest-diff" : "0", "widescreen" : true, "worktime" : true }
Tried without the api and worked my way down until all that was left was "compac-freq" : 150.
Anyone got any ideals? Getting ready to put Minera on a SD and give it a try probably tomorrow.

cgminer-gekko won't write a cgminer.conf file (comes out blank), so been trying to do a script to start it and add 5 pools in balanced, so it would point 1 stick here and 4 at another. But so far, all I can do is get it to start with all 5 pointed here, then I have to type to add the others.
In case it's helpful, here's my command line and config file (pulled straight out of minera). First the command line. Note that your paths will be different, and you'd have to decide if you want to use "screen" or not.: /usr/bin/screen -dmS cgminer-gekko /var/www/minera/minera-bin/custom/cgminer-gekko --compac-freq 150 --balance -c /var/www/minera/conf/miner_conf.json And the config file contents (replace with your other pool URLs and worker addresses): { "api-listen": true, "api-allow": "W:127.0.0.1", "pools": [ { "url": "stratum+tcp:\/\/solo.ckpool.org:3333", "user": "REPLACE_WITH_OTHER_WORKER_ADDRESS", "pass": "x" }, { "url": "stratum+tcp:\/\/solo.ckpool.org:3333", "user": "1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.edonkeystick", "pass": "x" } ] }
Not much to it, really. Of course, you could just use Minera and have it work out of the box, including starting at boot, auto starting if the miner crashes, and a nice web GUI for stats. But maybe that's less fun than tinkering. This is already on the to do list (already downloaded from your link), Thanks for the conf, it put's me one step closer. Yes, I like to tinker, but sooner or later, it's time to throw the towel in, which is getting close LOL. Thanks again.

It's still a work in progress, LOL
use a conf file generated by a stock cgminer and modify it, or just make one from scratch. at least novaks build is fine using my old stock cgminer conf files I had previously used. only thing I changed in the conf file was adding another pool and worker to point to the solo club address, then adding --balance and --compac-freq 170 to the command line in the .bat file I use. EDIT here is my conf file (for windows).. I have no idea if the stuff below the API stuff is still used some of the stuff probably dates back to GPU days. { "pools" : [ { "url" : "stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333", "user" : "1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.vapourminerstick", "pass" : "pw" } ,{ "url" : "stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333", "user" : "my-ck-solo-only-addy-here", "pass" : "pw" } ], "api-listen" : true, "api-port" : "4029", "api-allow" : "W:127.0.0.1,W:192.168.0/24", "expiry" : "120", "log" : "5", "queue" : "1", "retry-pause" : "5", "scan-time" : "60", "shares" : "0", "kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin" } Thanks, that was one of the first things I tried, figure it would be easy, LOL. Even done lot's of edits to where the only thing left was "compc-freq" :150.

hey all,
running into a small problem here
using cgminer, got zadig, it recognizes the device, but everytime i try and run it i get this:
Input server details. URL: ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRyb RJK7ybEm5m5HwTr --compac-freq 150 Username: 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr Password [enter for none]: [2015-09-10 23:47:42.715] Failed to resolve (?wrong URL) ./cgminer -o stratum+t cp: URL stratum+tcp://./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.mining.eligius.st:3334 -u 1 BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr --compac-freq 150 failed alive testing, reinpu t details URL:
could it be my network?
I'm not familiar with Windows and zadig, but you might try putting the - p x after the user name and before --compac-freq 150 any ways Don't need the password, but windows???

Since monday, average dropped to 100GHz most times even lower. Thanks in advance. Have you tried resetting the U3's (unplug both power and USB) and then restarting CGMiner? Yes I have rebooted all hardware. Removed power and usb cables. Tried with other cables. All the same. Plugged USB cables in different USB ports. No difference. Most of the time 115/120GHz that is pretty good I believe.
Since monday, average dropped to 100GHz most times even lower.
GHz? Do you mean GH/s? The hash rate, not a measure of frequency. There is no answer, U3s do what they do, be lucky you have two that work at the same time. LOL yes I mean GH/s. Sorry. I guess I mite be lucky then. It took a lot of trial and error and a decent hardware computer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=827356.msg11803834#msg11803834Are you using the garbage power supplies that came with them? If so, switch the higher hashing one's power supply to the lower hashing one and see if the hashing rate on them changes around also. If the hashing switches, you need better power supplies.

I got porn in the mail today Sticks came, all I did was try them out for about 5 minutes. http://imgur.com/bfcPjiIhttp://imgur.com/JyngUkVhttp://imgur.com/492CXaJStill got some tweaking to do on Raspbian/Pi, do a little tweaking to the sticks, add more power to a different hub (don't want to burn out the good one in the pic, even-though it will do a total of 10A between the 7 ports (plus the ports are on the side, so would have to figure out a way to mount it on end securely)) and setup a fan. Thanks sidehack and novak

Add me to the list, I'm in (when the sticks arrive).
Already got cgminer-gekko loaded up on the Pi, should have the USB hub and everything else ready this weekend, so hopefully it should just be plug the sticks in when they arrive and start mining.
