401  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Replace 'TH/s' with a name? or simpler term? on: August 01, 2013, 11:25:55 PM
The base unit is hash/second

We don't use a special name for Kilowatts or Megawatts, it is just a prefix (i.e. Kilowatt = 1000 watts) and the base units watts.

I think OP is more specifically referring to the "per second' part.

A better example would be Hertz which means 'cycles per second'.

When we talk about CPU's we don't go around saying "3 Gigacycles per second" we say 3 gigahertz.

OP has asked a legitimate question, in my opinion.

Actually come to think of it, simply using Hz is appropriate here. "My cards are hashing at 20 gigahertz" makes sense.
402  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Teamviewer Issue on: August 01, 2013, 11:04:23 PM
What OS is on your main machine and mining machines?

I've been using teamviewer for years on winxp, 7, 8, and osx and never have seen this issue.

I'm actually wondering if it has anything to do with Teamviewer at all - perhaps the mining machines are just going into some sort of 'stand-by' mode when no mouse activity is occurring.

I fixed those two links with good correct pictures, do I get credit for that?

Not going to muck around with partial credits sorry.

Maybe whoever completes the task as per the OP will be generous enough to share it with you after I pay them 0.01.

Let me make it clearer - The task involves all these components:

  • Site Name
  • Site URL
  • Screenshot
  • Description

Not to discourage anyone, but more of a heads up: ibittler is making good progress on this so far.

Oh, and metacoin, I think you're pretty much correct on how the estimates graphs work.  I won't know for sure until someone programs me something similar Smiley

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but this will be the last reminder to read the OP and follow instructions.

1. Find a Bitcoin Dice game that's not yet listed here: http://bitcoindice.com AND has not been posted in this thread yet by someone else.

2. Make a decent 250x250 screenshot of the dice game you just found and send it to me along with a small description. For examples, see http://bitcoindice.com
You can upload the shot somewhere like imgur.com or simply email it to admin at bitcondice.com.

3. Post in this thread the name of the dice game you sent to me, so noone does duplicates.

^^^ Can be a bitcoin or litecoin dice game. (No other alts yet).

Thanks.

Any other posts that don't fit with the above request will have to simply be ignored as I'm not going to have time to tell every individual why their posts are inadequate.
419  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Earning Bitcoins on: July 31, 2013, 11:33:30 PM
I have no real experience on mining so someone might have better advice.

I have no real experience in mining either, but I believe this to be poor advice:

After you go solo, you get the big bucks.

Going solo does not increase your expected mining rewards by more than a couple percent (i.e. the pool fees).   All it does is take a steady income and turn it into long voids of nothingness and hopefully one or two lump sums.

Thanks very much for everyone's efforts. I'm away from keyboard for a while (typing this post telepathically), but will review and update soon.
