Could someone please explain why bitcoinpeak.org says $112.25 and not ~$266?

I mean, it's obviously only taking the last X days into account, but what is the value of X?
682  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: In layman terms, what is an API? on: June 13, 2013, 03:26:49 AM
The other thing you might hear a lot about in relation to bitcoin, is the JSON RPC api.

This relates to how you get your program (eg. PHP) scripts, talking to your bitcoin client.  Handy for sending funds in an automated way, etc.

Application Programming Interface.

In laymen's terms, it's a way of accessing a site via a program, rather than by a human with a web browser.

For example, humans can log in to mtgox.com and do trades via their web pages, on the other hand, automated scripts can log in to mtgox's api and conduct trades that way, no browser required.

I have a perfect ebay record.

Me too, I've never shopped there.
685  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For fucks sake, stop leaving your money on internet accounts on: June 12, 2013, 06:02:30 AM
You can sense a newbie once they reveal that they are using an online wallet. Learn to put most of your holdings in cold storage.

A few anonymous people even appear to be using kamikaze as a wallet! If you don't intend to gamble it in the near future, you probably should just request a withdrawal and deposit later if needed.
686  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Litecoin pass 10$ by the end of June? on: June 12, 2013, 05:54:33 AM
If gox added litecoin it will go up to $15.

If Gox adds Litecoin it will go back up to $2.49.

I'm surprised at how many people seem to be hanging out for this event - In my opinion it'll be a total anti-climax.

I wonder how long before eBay stops sellers saying that they accept bitcoin as payment in their product description...

I believe they've been trying to do this but don't really have a system to catch them all efficiently, yet.  In time, I don't doubt that posting anything about BTC in your listings will get them removed after quick review of a staff member.

Instead of mentioning 'bitcoin' or 'btc', simply post your bitcoin address. "I accept payments to: 1bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb".
See if they do a regex to catch those ads!
688  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have seen the light on: June 12, 2013, 12:06:42 AM
I do not have a paypal account. For me, using bitcoins is therefore easier.

+1

p.s. I have seen the light and I have also seen the 'lite' Smiley

I don't think he's been mentioned yet, but pirateat40 was exceedingly smart.

As for people who are still on this forum, I could put in a vote for Dooglus.

Smart but evil.

I don't think Dooglus is all that evil.

I have previously used the Ƀ symbol for Bitcoin in everything I do.

I like that Ƀ symbol, but those railway station logo colors are just awful.

It'll be easy to spot the early adopters, they be slow to change from BTC.

I don't like the XBT thingy. I'll stick with BTC as does oanda.com

Early adopter alert!

0.88 post per day.

Some of the more recent 'hero' members around lately are probably sitting on an average of 150 posts per day.

Thanks for your efforts Matthew. I'm sure there are many newbies that have taken your words of warning seriously, despite not being able to post in this thread.

696  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I cancelled my BFL PayPal order on 6/2/13 and got refund 6/3/13 on: June 05, 2013, 09:58:52 AM
They have almost always been good about refunds...I've only heard about delay when call/email volume was high.

I think the main thing people were sore about was that they only refunded the USD value, even when orders were paid for with bitcoin back when bitcoin was $5.  So they could have made millions just from taking orders last year and then refunding 'in full' this year.
