1781  Economy / Economics / Re: Beware SCAM Fraud: Economic Frauds Detection & Prevention on: July 27, 2016, 10:03:25 AM
Probably. It certainly wouldn't be the first time scammers have pretended to be scam investigators. What better way to steal money from people who, not to put too fine a point on it, are "proven suckers"?
1782  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Not a conspiracy theorist but an ad for Crisis Actors was posted in Miami on: July 26, 2016, 04:01:00 AM
It's a standard part of police training to interact with actors pretending to victims or witnesses in fictitious incidents. Some departments even make cute little fake towns for this purpose. It's no secret. Doesn't everybody know that?
1783  Other / Meta / Re: Illiterate sig spammers on: July 25, 2016, 11:15:07 AM
The problem is not that sig spammers can't write (bad English does not make a post spam), but that they can't (or won't) read. Half of all spam replies ignore what previous posters have said (often just answering questions after they're already answered, but bonus points for replying with questions already answered in the thread), and the other half are completely off topic due to not even reading the OP! My ignore list currently has 3,390 users and is growing at an alarming rate. This nonsense has to stop.
1784  Other / Meta / Illiterate sig spammers on: July 24, 2016, 12:35:52 PM
What's to be done about threads like this one? Pretty much every reply is from an illiterate sig spammer except for my reply calling them out (which didn't stop them, no doubt because they didn't read it - I don't know why I thought they might). The problem of sig spam has officially gone from "goddamn annoying" to "fucking ridiculous". Tell me again why we don't just ban paid posts like every other forum?
1785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin transactions - Slow OR Fast on: July 24, 2016, 06:40:16 AM
ITT: Sig spammers can't read the FAQ. Roll Eyes
1786  Other / Off-topic / Re: [NEWS] Space Weather Alerts ! on: July 22, 2016, 04:19:50 PM
Our power grids are quite well-protected, thanks in no small part to NASA and other researchers keeping a (metaphorical) eye on what the sun's doing. There'll always be crackpots like you who misinterpret these alerts as representing some kind of danger that, for some conspiratorial reason, nobody else is warning about, but with the rise of public information and decline of public education, it regrettably can't be helped. Undecided
1787  Other / Off-topic / Re: [NEWS] Space Weather Alerts ! on: July 22, 2016, 03:47:41 PM
Nasty weather indeed. Best wear a coat if you need to go out before it clears up.

1788  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Pool] *** POKEMON GO BAD/GOOD *** on: July 22, 2016, 01:03:22 PM
Pool pokémon are definitely bad; they're weak against lawn types, which are more common. Tongue
1789  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC to 5000$ soon on: July 21, 2016, 06:36:15 AM
About gold, yeah... The thing is, copper can be turned into gold with the new technology Russian scientists have lately developed. After that, gold will lose its value. Bitcoin will be the only safe haven as a store of value.

Obvious hoax is obvious.

The transmutation process does not involve nuclear reaction
It has to involve a nuclear reaction (specifically fusion, since you're adding a fuckton of extra nucleons) by definition. You've got an atomic nucleus, you make it react in some particular way, it's a nuclear reaction. You may as well talk about turning one chemical into another without involving chemical reactions, or turning something cold into something hot without involving heat. Roll Eyes

Quote
Our approach to transmutation of chemical elements is biochemical in nature.
Like the goose that lays golden eggs. Cheesy

Quote
The method consists in irradiating neutron flux transmutable material, the irradiation is carried out with neutrons obtained in the nuclear fusion reactions in the pre-formed neutron source plasma, at a certain placement of the scattering medium neutrons. This method is based on the reactions of nuclear fusion in a tokamak is also complex and requires special equipment.
Or not. So much for no nuclear reactions. Incidentally, a tokomak reactor is an astonishingly impractical choice for a neutron source; I'm not sure why it was mentioned except to deceive laypeople. Not that the rest of the patent makes any sense at all.

It's hard to believe people actually fall for this nonsense. Undecided

1791  Other / Politics & Society / Re: REdiscovering EARTH and its technology on: July 20, 2016, 06:06:37 AM
Why can we trust the Bible? Because it hasn't changed.
Yes it has. You even admit it.

The Book of Isaiah in the Bible was written about 2,500 years ago. We have found copies of Isaiah in the Dead Sea Scrolls. These copies have been dated to around 2,300 years ago. They are almost the same as the copies we have today.
But not exactly the same. You'd think God would send a proofreader.

What is the significance of this?
Not much. After all, what difference does it make if there are 150 Psalms or 151? Or 155? It's close enough, right? And the Longer Ending of Mark 16 is just superfluous extra detail, right? It's not like anyone would make it a major part of their church service in an attempt to get closer to God. Nope, all the changes in the Bible are only minor and not significant at all. Roll Eyes
1792  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does a country parliament has an electronic forum? on: July 19, 2016, 10:51:33 AM
They do. Live video of parliamentary proceedings is digitally distributed for public viewing using a newfangled invention known as "television", or "TV" as kids these days call it. You might have heard of it.
1793  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain without Bitcoin on: July 19, 2016, 10:18:04 AM
This article explains everything perfectly: nakamotoinstitute.org/mempool/its-not-about-the-technology-its-about-the-money/

TL;DR: You're not missing anything. It doesn't seem to make sense because it really doesn't make sense.
1794  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theoretical hard fork - how to separate txs on: July 19, 2016, 04:22:36 AM
Is there a way to specify to only include this tx if block x hash = <some known hash>?
Yes. Use coins mined in that block as one of the inputs.

Any other way to keep the tx on one chain and not the other?
Make double-spend attempts to yourself, sending to a different address on each chain. Since both addresses belong to you, you don't lose anything (except transaction fees) if it fails, and after you eventually succeed, coins from each address can only be spent on the corresponding chain.

Alternatively, if different consensus rules make certain types of transactions valid on one fork but not the other, just create such a transaction.
1795  Other / Politics & Society / Re: REdiscovering EARTH and its technology on: July 18, 2016, 11:30:20 AM
Actually, Graham Hancock and others are showing that people had great technology in the past. For example. Moving 300 ton to 1,000 ton chunks of rock is something that is cost prohibitive for us to do. But the ancients moved multitudes of them.
I live up the road from a quarry. I've seen exactly how "cost prohibitive" it is to move huge amounts of rock: not at all. Roll Eyes Furthermore, it never has been very hard to move big rocks at any time in history. While I understand how such magical devices as wheels, ropes, and pulleys may seem like "great technology" to the simple-minded, I can assure you they're not.
1796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO Disaster Illustrates Differing Philosophies in Bitcoin and Ethereum on: July 18, 2016, 11:14:12 AM
A 51% attack against Bitcoin was successfully executed with a client that enforced new consensus rules in order to undo transactions that were valid under the current consensus rules.
Except they actually weren't. The consensus rule was (and is) that the sum of the outputs of a transaction must be less than or equal to the sum of the inputs, but the integer overflow bug meant the sums weren't calculated correctly. It's a bug.

You feel that there was a "bug" in the consensus rules that needed to be fixed, just as people now feel that there is a bug in the DAO contract that needs to be fixed. It all looks the same to me.
The DAO =/= Ethereum. There is no bug in Ethereum. Instead, a poorly-written Ethereum contract sent money to someone the creator of the contract didn't intend, in exactly the same way that a poorly-written Bitcoin transaction can send money to someone the creator of the transaction didn't intend. This has happened many, many times in Bitcoin and nobody has suggested "undoing" poorly-written transactions, since that would destroy the usefulness of the system.
1797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO Disaster Illustrates Differing Philosophies in Bitcoin and Ethereum on: July 18, 2016, 10:10:22 AM
I guess everyone has forgotten about block 74638, when somebody following the consensus rules created 184 billion BTC. A hard fork was done in order to undo those transactions.
Everyone including you, it seems. It was a soft fork (which didn't specifically target any particular transaction, it just fixed the overflow bug).

You don't know anything about my starfish so don't even !
My star-fish is the envy of male whores..
Oh, you mean like how my tongue is the envy of lesbians? I get it now. Cheesy

..they would kill for my luscious tight fresh pink balloon knot !
So gay men want to fuck women so badly they'll kill other men for the chance to do so? That just raises further questions!

One day humanity will be lured into forced homosexuality with the media.
All those Will & Grace TV shows etc will turn you all queer like a 3 dollar bill !
Watching unfunny sitcoms doesn't make you gay. It just means you have terrible taste.

Then what ?
Gonna come cryin' back here.. sayin' Spoetnik where did all the beaver go ?
..AND HOW DO WE GET THEM BACK ?

This is a secret ..we can't tell the homosexual agenda conspirators our plans.
Ah, it's a secret. It's not that your rant makes no sense, it's that the explanation of how it makes sense is a secret!

Come for my pussy and you will find out bucko  Angry
Can we possibly find out without having to come for your pussy?
1799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it normal not to see my sending/receiving addresses while the bitcoin client on: July 15, 2016, 11:27:56 AM
It is normal to see no addresses until you've actually, you know, created them. You can create a new receiving address at any time by clicking Request Payment on the Receive tab, or by going File -> Receiving Addresses and clicking New.

You should not move wallet files around while Bitcoin is running, except for saving a backup file using File -> Backup Wallet.

All the higher than 12 inch people are TOTALLY lying.

I hear the camera adds 10 pounds
You say that as a joke, but it's actually true. Binocular vision makes it possible to see around objects by a few degrees; without it, objects physically occlude more of the background, thus appearing larger. That's why 3D porn is so disappointing.
