1701  Other / Meta / Re: Why was this topic deleted? on: October 28, 2016, 10:52:14 AM
Why didn't you ask thread starter to move it to relevant section instead of reporting it to staff?
because I don't speak Russian well and neither does Google Translate

Obviously not all staff members understand Russian and when some of them had seen it,he must have considered it as reported spam or troll and deleted it.
I expect some of them understand English, which is the language in which I suggested that the topic be moved to the appropriate board. Roll Eyes

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1664043

It's not my thread; it's by a newbie who had a question that I couldn't quite understand because I don't speak Russian well and neither does Google Translate, but it seemed legitimate. I reported it to suggest that it be moved to the Новички board instead of Beginners & Help, and when I went back to check if it was moved it was gone! Why? Aside from being in the English section instead of the Russian section, what was wrong with it? Huh
1703  Other / Meta / Re: IMPORTANT! There may be a glitch on this forum (Serious! Accidentally uncovered) on: October 28, 2016, 02:58:16 AM
Why would you resort to such an ugly hack??? My way's better.
1704  Other / Meta / Re: What's your "Report to Moderator" % rate at? on: October 27, 2016, 04:59:17 AM
"You have reported 2514 posts with 100% accuracy"

I've still got it. Cool
1705  Other / Off-topic / Re: Me and society on: October 26, 2016, 06:06:35 AM
Why your the third to say i'm whining Roll Eyes .
Because it's the truth.

Truly you  feel the pressure from society.
The pressure is not from society, it is from nature. All living creatures must expend effort to survive. To seek food. To avoid danger. Nothing can live without continual effort, not even humans. This is the basic reality of existence. Do you deny reality?

It takes me a week to make 700.00$ but i can spend that in 2 days.
I can spend that in 2 seconds. So what? Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. Nothing in society requires you to spend so much, and you have a decent income. If you're trying to live beyond your means and suffering as a result, it's your own fault.

society sucks because in order for me to make more money and have a different job i must pay for education and not only go to school but work at the same time... its just impossible for me.
Not all things are possible for all people. But I suspect that in your case, it is possible. If you didn't spend a week's pay in 2 days, you could save your money until you have enough to go to school without working at the same time. I've done it. Lots of people have done it. It's not in any way impossible. If you're unwilling or unable to accomplish that, don't blame society.

I can say i'm not sad but i do feel like i suffer to be comfortable.
You've no right to feel otherwise. Comfort must be earned through effort like anything else.
1706  Other / Off-topic / Re: Me and society on: October 26, 2016, 05:10:45 AM
I need a job that allows me to travel or do something good.
No. You want such a job. You don't need anything, nor are you entitled to anything. Humans are just animals with the odd property of being (sometimes) intelligent, and have no fundamental right to exist other than what they can justify through their labour.

Making us do the work as slaves.
You are not made to work as a slave, and you insult all slaves past and present by comparing yourself to them. You get paid to work, and are free to quit and find another means of earning a living. The fact that a living must be earned instead of gotten freely does not make you a slave.

What if people would of never invented the dollar bill?
They would be living in a pre-industrial agrarian society with a life expectancy of 30. Specialisation of labour requires money. Why would anyone become a teacher or a doctor if they didn't get paid for it? Without money, everyone's a farmer without even machines to help them. If you think that's better than civilisation, then quit your job and start your own farm to feed yourself. Don't let "society" stop you.

People have never experienced actual slavery as we as people are now experiencing it in the USA today !
Does that mean you have never experienced actual slavery as people are now experiencing it in South Asia? In that case, you should go there, if you think slaves there are living the good life. Otherwise, quit being a whiny crybaby.
1707  Other / Off-topic / Re: AGD's ignore list extreme on: October 24, 2016, 08:10:45 AM
Haha fuck you, I am on ignore list because I am giving a FREE tutorial for newbies?
No, you're on my list too, and I don't even ignore people based on their signatures. I'm egalitarian that way. The correlation between being on my ignore list and having a sig ad is just a coincidence, I'm sure. Roll Eyes
1708  Other / Off-topic / Re: 50 Holistic Doctors Have Mysteriously Died In The Last Year, But ... on: October 23, 2016, 03:59:01 AM
What can be done about it? If a quack consistently fails to cure people, it's only a matter of time before those people (or their survivors) get angry and seek revenge. Not that I condone murder, but it's not entirely unexpected. To avoid being murdered, restrict your nonsense beliefs to a domain where people won't get sick or die from them.
1709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 75% of bitcoin mined? on: October 20, 2016, 07:59:38 AM
What does this even mean?
It means what it sounds like. Of the 21 million bitcoins that will eventually be mined, nearly 16 million already have.

If there is only so much BTC in circulation how can it grow to become a widely accepted currency?
There is only so much of any currency in circulation. Dollars, gold, seashells, you name it, there's only a limited amount to go around. A currency can't function unless there's only a limited amount of it; if there's unlimited money for everyone, what incentive does anyone have to work or sell things?

wouldn't this give an unfair advantage to holders like us, and causes an alternate monopoly which eventually will fail the objective of becoming a widely accepted currency?
Early adopters of a currency take the risk that it might never be widely accepted and the currency will become worthless. This risk must be taken into account when considering any advantage earlier adopters may have. It is not clear to me what you mean by "an alternate monopoly"; everyone who holds currency does so with the intention of eventually spending it, at which point the currency will flow into the hands of other people (specifically, people who provide goods or services worth paying the money for).
1710  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: About leveraged trading and going long/short on: October 19, 2016, 03:36:17 AM
A long position means you make money when the price of bitcoin goes up, and lose money when the price goes down. 25x means you make or lose 25 times as much as you would if you had actually bought the bitcoins, eg, if the price goes up 1%, you will make a profit of 25%. Conversely, if the price goes down 4%, you lose everything you invested. Game over. Thanks for playing.

A short position means you make money when the price goes down, and lose money when the price goes up. Again, you lose everything if the price goes up 4%.

I strongly advise that you do not invest in a leveraged position if you do not understand the risks involved.
1711  Other / Off-topic / Re: AGD's ignore list extreme on: October 18, 2016, 12:30:26 PM
That's nothing. I currently ignore 4,018 accounts. They are not missed.
1712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sent bitcoin to wrong address and currently 0 confirmations on: October 18, 2016, 04:35:18 AM
No, not only the checksum is affected. The entire pubkeyhash is completely different without that character. Try it yourself with https://gobittest.appspot.com/Address
D'oh! Yes, you're right. I don't know how I got so confused about how base58 works. I blame insufficient caffeine.
1713  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sent bitcoin to wrong address and currently 0 confirmations on: October 18, 2016, 03:25:33 AM
The address is completely and absolutely invalid. If the transaction even exists, then the address will not be the one he thinks it is.
Not necessarily. Since only the checksum was affected, it's likely the wallet decoded the public key hash correctly (in which case the transaction is valid and sent the coins to correct address despite the typo), but without checking the checksum at all. Other sorts of typos will not be so fortuitous, and are very likely to lose money. The wallet is not just broken, it's criminally incompetent and the developers should be beaten with rusty chains.

EDIT: Never mind, I don't know what I'm talking about.
1714  Other / Meta / Re: Problems with BBCode on: October 14, 2016, 02:49:14 AM
Because with a proportional font, different characters have different widths (and not even consistently different, as you've seen). You need a monospaced font, which in BBCode is achieved with the [tt] tag.

1715  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Scenario: The end of the world is coming. What will you do? on: October 13, 2016, 10:15:51 AM
You really need to watch the beginning of the movie, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Start here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2kKdNBbz2M.

Cool
"The most astonishing adventure in the universe begins when the world ends."

Your cult actually believes this? How awful.
1716  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Rise of Satanism another sign of 'America's fall from God' on: October 13, 2016, 04:23:43 AM
Don't mistake the Satanic Temple for an actual religious organisation preaching any form of Satanism. They are a political protest group, nothing more. All they do is pull silly stunts like this one to raise awareness for the need for separation of church and state, using the name of Satan to scare people into giving them free publicity. This annoys actual Satanists to no end, but what can they do about it? It's not like there's a commandment against using Satan's name in vain. Satan's cool like that.
1717  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-12] This Company Uses Bitcoin Blockchain For Medical Marijuana DNA Sequ on: October 13, 2016, 03:31:10 AM
This article isn't even newsworthy.

edit: Also, I don't believe this is a notable Bitcoin press hit.
Hardly anything in this section is. What do you expect? As I write this, nearly every thread on the first page was started by either someone advertising their "news" site or a garden-variety sig spammer, with the single exception being a newbie who either hasn't had time to sign up for a sig campaign yet or who just doesn't know how things are done around here. Undecided
1718  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone know any good free blu ray burning software? on: October 08, 2016, 04:10:49 AM
That's more than adequate, and SanDisk is one of the better manufacturers. I think we can rule out the USB stick.

I might try get a small ssd drive if it's the speed as you say. The files play but are very choppy which makes them unwatchable
That definitely sounds like insufficient bandwidth, though if it's not the USB stick that just raises further questions. Does this "smart" TV not even support high-speed USB? Or is it just unable to decompress HD video? It may well only be designed to handle YouTube videos, with the expectation that all HD content will come from an external device. An SSD won't help if that's the case.

The easiest way to find out is to see if your USB stick works with a digital media player connected to a dumb TV. If so, I've got some bad news about your TV's intelligence.
1719  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone know any good free blu ray burning software? on: October 07, 2016, 03:28:55 AM
Make sure you're using a high-speed USB stick (or a Class 6 or better SD card if you want to take that option, and note that you don't need a new TV, just a high-speed USB adaptor). Full-speed USB just doesn't have enough bandwidth to play HD video.
1720  Other / Off-topic / Re: WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY FIRST BTC 0.00017306 on: October 02, 2016, 12:20:59 PM
You should put it in a glass display case in a vault with the rest of your priceless treasures (if you have any). That's what Scrooge McDuck did with his first dime, and your BTC0.00017306 is worth about as much. There's not much else you can do with it, as it's barely enough to cover the transaction fee for spending it. Roll Eyes

I swear these threads are getting more worthless all the time.
