541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: July 21, 2021, 11:12:39 AM
After killing profits with huge premiums now the only move is to get back to business by dismantling the GBTC product and create what is going to be an obvious ETF. Good and bad: good since their experience with GBTC might speed up the process, bad because it is Grayscale  Grin
This confirms my initial thought as they do not care about bitcoin unless under it is seen through the lens of a product.
Grayscale has always taken the approach of a business and thus through the lens of a product rather than caring much about BTC per se.

Quote
Anyway, if they pave the road to ETFs that is okay.
The only reason for ETFs integration is also for the same reason of not missing out on potential customers and profit, while these are of course actions to improve their business, at the end of the day id does provide the mutual benefit for ETFs adoption which as of not it is a big step!
542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin Ready for a Major Breakout? on: July 20, 2021, 09:12:32 PM
yes, I hope bitcoin dominance can drop to 60%. This would be good not only for Litecoin but all the altcoins on the market would be affected. Currently LTC is in a good condition. and if bitcoin stops rising. This will be a great opportunity for Litecoin to return to ATH.

The current spike was resulted solely from Bitcoin and the altcoins don't have any role in the bull run. And this is the reason why the Bitcoin dominance rose from 57% to 68% in less than three months. I won't be surprised if the Bitcoin dominance increases to 80% or above in the next few months. Altcoins survived for so long, but their time is up. Users don't want to invest in coins without real usage.
Exactly my thoughts. Alts like LTC despite the coin being in the top 10 cryptocurrencies have no say in a bull run. Only BTC determines the market trends for other alts and its dominance dictates market prices since many investors see value in holding BTC not alts.

So now down to the point, is LTC going to break new resistances and go through a major breakout - I think it is all down to BTC and the way it is now under 30k I'm not qualified to say if this is the start of the much anticipated bears or a renumeration if the bulls! It's a wait and see situation.
543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mining vs Holding on: July 20, 2021, 06:16:20 PM
In almost all instances investing for the average person would be more worthwhile unless you can fill a warehouse full of miners with cheap electricity and then you would be earning a lot more over the long run. The thing is with investing it bares a lot of risks and you have to time it correctly with mining its generated passive income all the time.
I wouldn't think that mining is passive even if you do manage to get away with paying cheaper electricity. By definition passive earning is not some action at a reduced cost by involves you not doing anything.

As for mining vs holding, these days you can't compete with the mining gear pros have it requires too much of an initial investment which is why in my opinion holding is the better deal.
544  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Small capital and Big capital on: July 20, 2021, 04:10:57 PM
What's small and what's big?
While I agree that small/big may not be the same for everybody, regardless of the sums you're working with, trading is all about skills and talent.

SO clearly for anybody new to this, playing with large money from the starts is likely not going to end up well, and even after sometime because the markets can be quite unpredictable playing around when you're not fully confident and taking higher risks than necessary is something anyone would recommend not to do.

At the end of the day, this is all a matter of individual choice. we can say what's right and wrong for us but of course can't speak for everyone.

545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: have you ever play or won from a crypto exchange lottery? on: July 20, 2021, 02:20:34 PM
Haven't won one but I don't think that anytime soon I will be joining or playing with these lotteries, I find the prizes in those lotteries unattractive so I really haven't been participate in any and I want to keep it that way.
At this time my take on playing these lotteries is something I do not find attractive anymore. The prizes are not as competitive as they used to be and with more and more new players wanting to try new things out, I do not find it worth while anymore. Not that I managed to win any lotteries Wink

You might want or consider placing a feature where the community who visits your site can send in their reviews about a certain website so they can contribute to your site and help in easing the workload of your team if you have any.
Yes, that's a really nice way to get honest reviews on all the integrated sites. As a matter of finance, how is this website going to raise capital? It all looks good and much more informative than any other I have seen but it does make you wonder if affiliate programs plays a large role in getting revenue for this work  Huh Just curious I guess

<snip>
Couldn't  imagine what I would feel if I am the one hitting 1000x so what more if I am to hit 5000x regardless if its 1cent 2cents etc.

It would be a very good day if it happens. Congratulations mrhindog.
I'm sure you'll be in shocked, feeling nervous or anything. Also probably, due to shock you'll be trembling. I know the feeling since I experienced getting big wins too, but not that so high multiplier. Sadly, I also know the feeling of my balance getting wrecked because of slots.
Slots is a nice game, and getting a win of any kind is always a nice feeling. I remember when I got my first big win on slots, it was such a great experience needless to say that the luck run out after that one time but I find pleasure in the little things...
548  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are MEME Coins A NEW Trend on: July 19, 2021, 09:09:54 PM
meme coin has indeed become a trend, but I don't like it at all, because in my opinion memecoin has no utility and can't last long term, unless later there is a meme coin that has good utility, I will support it
What could really be the utility of a memecoin? There's no utility in that, Doge itself already went too far in that. Doge has no utility, nobody is really using that shit and yet we fail to recognize the trap that there's behind these silly attempts to make a few smarter guys rich.
Stay away from those coins unless you're prepared to lose all your money.
Must agree with your view on this that meme coins do not have utility whatsoever but somehow this bull run has created hundreds of them. The way I see it, Doge is the only meme that can survive long-term but all the other one that boomed on the back of Doge's volatility will not going to withstand the selling pressure typical of bear seasons.
549  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If you aren't reading you shouldn't be trading on: July 19, 2021, 08:14:27 PM
I used to go to a psychologist 10 years ago, it was for about 2 years. The best advice I got from her was to reflect on myself and how I feel at least once a week, just sit down, doesn't matter how long it takes but simply just talk to yourself, talk about how you are feeling talk about the first thing that comes to your mind, just imagine you are sitting in front of you and chat with yourself, you will realize how great it will feel eventually and ever since then I do that.

This is same level of advice, spend 8 hours every week to improve yourself, this could be about trading but if you do not want to do it for trading, then study history, or read a book, or do whatever that will improve you, it is really good advice. So far I have unintentionally done this since I can remember, not because I knew this advice but because I love to learn new things, so I spend sundays on learning new things, each week is a new topic and I really love it.
Once motivated, being able to explore and learn something new every week is relaxing. Many recommend reading a book to gasps new challenge and some discover something in themselves while reading. We all have different activities that can help to improve ourselves but reading is a must since researching and studying is needed in trading.
You're right, studying and improving is much needed in any specialty type role, including trading, and I find that reading is not the only way to get yourself up to speed with new methods and techniques audio books, tutorials and videos are equally important and relevant material.

Though, for sure keeping up with your day to day investments and trading does require the you to learn from time to time but I always see this as personal development and growth, and when you get to it you may even find it enjoyable Wink
550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHICH COUNTRIES COULD FOLLOW EL SALVADOR BY MAKING BITCOIN LEGAL TENDER? on: July 19, 2021, 10:37:56 AM
In my own opinion, I think the best countries that might be fully supportive of cryptocurrencies would be the smaller cash-strapped countries of Africa and Central Americas. And we are talking about millions and millions of people in these territories. Still, the only problem that I see is that all the supporters of cryptocurrency would be biased in favor of Bitcoin and would be hesitant in supporting other coins. But I think that is the job of the private crypto companies to ensure that all the other cryptos are covered.
I agree with your opinion, friend, most of what we see and read from the news, most small countries are very supportive of legalizing bitcoin, such as el salvador, and tanzania, big countries actually support bitcoin, but they are afraid of the risk, and afraid of losses, while small countries are indeed their economies are not so good, so they really support bitcoin, to advance their economy, hopefully bitcoin can make their country's economy more advanced going forward..
I agree. Countries like in South Africa have always embraced cryptocurrency and it would not be surprising if many of these counties will copy El Salvador's action towards crypto. It is with these countries where the changes will be easiest to implement before seeing North America or European counties adopting a similar strategy.
551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will you do if Bitcoin hits $1m in the future? on: July 16, 2021, 10:37:37 PM
If one day Bitcoin price will hit $1m or be simple near that line, I will start to cry. These will be the tears of sadness of all missed opportunities. Life gives so many chances to get rich, achieve something or something like, but we are just blind and not using them. This is all connected with being risky+lucky person or not.
Frankly speaking, I do not believe that one day I would see $1,000,000.00 next to Bitcoin on crypto price tracking site. This will create a lot of fiat currencies valueless or even simply create fiat valueless. One day most of the people will be able to afford everything they want. That is just something that can not be normal in the world.
I agree with your point. If BTC was to reach $1 million it would create millionaires out of nowhere and that would pose a problem to society. People would lose the notion of value and the gap between the rich and poor will only widen. It will also lead to many more mental issues as many people would miss out on this opportunity.

All in all, it would create a world of financial chaos. If BTC was $1M then the finance sector would also have to undergo major structural issues, and for sure crypto will be a major part but I can't imagine all the changes this will bring to the world. It will be madness.

553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptophobia, causes, effects and solution. on: July 16, 2021, 04:35:32 PM
Is there even such a phobia listed about cryptocurrency and is that even the official term for it. I think Xenophobia is the best term to describe the irrational fear of crypto because Xenophobia means the irrational fear of the unknown which could be anything.
There is no term that describes the fear of cryptocurrency because the fear that's talked about is not intrinsic fear, is all behavioural, and a choice.

It is due to ignorance, followed by guilt for not entering the market, and when in the market falling victim to scams because fundamentals are not even there. All of this can be solved with some knowledge about the markets, and less day dreaming, because making money is not that simple you at least need to understand the fundamentals.
554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Bitcoin community a DAO? on: July 16, 2021, 10:57:10 AM
Upgrades for Bitcoin need to get consensus from miners on the network. The last vote for Taproot to lock in is an example: https://taproot.watch/
Miners have to signal their support and help to lock in Taproot. It is a decentralized consensus but satoshi does not call it as DAO.
To my understanding, no BTC is not a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) because the network is maintained by miners from around the world and it's the consensus among codes on their computers that leads to building a new block on the blockchain.

Because these sets of miners are not sitting under one umbrella group/organization but purely backed by enthusistas around the globe, the running and maintenance of BTC is fully decentralized without an appointed group taking charge of mining, events etc, and thank God for that!!!
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thorchain (RUNE) Exploited for 13,000 ETH team confirmed on: July 16, 2021, 09:17:57 AM
I hope that the other of the same projects will be considering to strengthen the security of their platforms project. It's noticeably increasing that these attacks are happening every now and then.
Absolutely, this will be a lesson for every project out there. As time goes by, security will be strengthened, and additionally, this is also one of the disadvantages of an open-source project (I'm not telling open-source is bad).

It seems this hack got some effect on the price of Thorchain (RUNE)
But the wick is not that very huge compare to other projects before when encountered exploitation.

The exploitation could have been much worse by comparison to the demise other projects have seen. I suppose their security alerted them of the attack but still a whooping 13,000 ETH is not no biggie.

It goes to show that code security is no joke and that it could lead to the death of a project, and with those becoming more common perhaps projects should double check their codes.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Thorchain (RUNE) Exploited for 13,000 ETH team confirmed on: July 15, 2021, 10:19:58 PM
It seems that lately different alts (DEXTools, DeFiPie) suffered from hack attacks. This now includes Thorchain (RUNE) which got exploited for approx 13,000 ETH. Thorchain is one of the major project with a current marketcap fo 271M and 64th Rank.

https://etherscan.io/address/0x3a196410a0f5facd08fd7880a4b8551cd085c031

THORChain posted "During a live attack, the network has been halted. Approximately 13,000 ETH of value was extracted from the protocol. Treasury has the funds to cover the stolen amount".

All of these attacks, just makes it impossible for people to trust crypto in its entirety. At least, in RUNE's case those that lost their funds will be getting it back but still it is a concerning matter.

557  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blackjack.fun | 0.28% House edge | RED or BLACK|50% Chance to win|InstantWithraw on: July 15, 2021, 10:07:21 PM
Blackjack had some update? such new casino there and look like will deal with some third party.  You should make some border for the casino first during you do some update or maintenance.
That's a significant change in the platform. It just like a surprise! There wasn't any announcement about it. Maybe they have added all the games from BGaming provider. They also added filter option to choose different types of game, but it would be great if they add another filter for their house games (developed by blackjack) only.
Strange to come across these changes out of the blue, but somehow they do seem to work better. I suppose, some of the comments on here regarding design and UI came through to the dev team. Who knows, perhaps we'll also see a new design for blackjack - the actual game - as I've noticed many players disagreeing with current design.
558  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Reasons why they get it all wrong when trading. on: July 15, 2021, 06:36:53 PM
.. Traders aren't jokers therefore before you decide to become one, you have to know or have the following characteristics to help guide you. You have to be very smart, the market isn't a friend to fools.
Exactly.
Some mistakes done right now is about trading only by following other people and not doing our own research and analysis.
You can say that again... The amount of people I've seen storming into crypto because they heard a friend of a friend managed to get good profit is very large, only for them to enter not knowing what they're doing, buying meme coins and hoping to get rich over night.

Little did they know that making money isn't as easy as it may look, knowledge determines every step of trading, and you can't argue with good strategies and good timing. If you get the basis right, you can reduce risk of loss down to a bare minimum.
559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The essential attributes of Bitcoin:Bitcoin is a database. on: July 15, 2021, 04:46:16 PM
Saying "bitcoin is a database" is like saying "an airplane is a collection of seats with seat-belts".

I found that the reading rate of my posts in the past two days was a bit low, and the number of reples was not large.
That is because you are rambling. Nobody reads big walls of texts with inconsequential content most of which don't have anything to do with the title specially when that title itself doesn't make any sense.
Honestly, I get the constructive criticism around the subject. And, yes, I agree, OP could have been more clear in his writing but as an attempt itself to spread the knowledge of BTC (though I understand that on here might not be the right audience for his tone of writing) I think is something to credit him for.

At least, OP is sharing his knowledge in a way he can, and spreading awareness is something we should all get better at.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I think ethereum is the best crypto next to bitcoin. on: July 15, 2021, 12:48:34 PM
Why the need for this post? Everyone knows that ethereum is the second best altcoin next to BTC, that's even why it takes the second rank on coinmarketcap platform, no other projects was able to introduce smart contracting before ETH that's why it's first of its kind
Was wondering the same thing. We know that there are many competitor coins to ETH like BSC, ADA etc and nothing came closer to the real ETH because solving scalability issues isn't as simple.

Yes, as it stands today, ETH is not only the second largest currency but the most used crypto and with Serenity under development ETH will come closer to hitting head to head with BTC if Serenity will be implemented as per design.
