Hello everyone. I'm still offering the gaw miner discounts. See the OP for details, get your miners before another round of gaw price increases Tongue
1262  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 13, 2014, 07:08:50 AM
So much stagnation with small decline. How boring. Question for the bulls and neutrals, when do you think price will start increasing again and how fast/slow will the price change?
1263  Economy / Economics / Re: When will the USA pay their debts, if ever? on: September 13, 2014, 06:50:07 AM
The Fed will keep printing dollar to keep their balance sheet under controlled. The debt ceiling will be raised again and again. At least they can make the creditors believe they can pay back when due.

Exactly. Debt will always raise faster since we have to pay the federal reserve interest for every dollar printed. This means that we can never, ever pay off our national debt. If the debt ceiling is ever truly capped, then our economy collapses and becomes crushed under the debt (there will always be more debt than actual dollars). This is why the US credit rating is under fire every time there is even discussion about "not increasing the debt ceiling".
The debt ceiling is only capped by statue, as long as congress continues to raise the ceiling the US government's ability to borrow will generally continue. If the market were to decide that the US would not be able to make good on it's debt then it would be shut out of the debt market.

The reason why we are unable to pay off our national debt now is because we are running a budget deficit (spending more money then the government is receiving in tax revenue), once the government starts to run a budget surplus (spending less money then receiving in tax revenue), then the national debt will be able to start to get paid off.

Are you sure that you are not just repeating government-sponsored tax myth? The government has many income streams...

You understand completely the national debt? Is that because you are an expert?

A complete government and (taken over by government) syndicated news media blackout has existed for over 60 years, DUE TO THE MONEY INVOLVED!

http://cafr1.com/GovernmentDebt.html

More about the media cover-up:
http://cafr1.com/knowthescore.html
I am not sure what you are talking about. The definition of a budget surplus is when more money is taken in via revenues (mainly taxes) then is spent via government expenditures. I did not say anything about how easy this would be.

Our debt could never be paid off in USD. The US Treasury borrows money from the federal reserve bank of New York and pays back an interest rate. Only way to pay back the interest is to borrow more money from the fed. It is a perpetual debt cycle, it can never, ever be paid off.
1264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hashlet on: September 13, 2014, 06:46:42 AM
Well the $0.08 per MH is them paying for the hosting site, hardware cost, cooling, electricity and maintenance. I think that cost is very reasonable.
1265  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 in three years on: September 13, 2014, 06:30:09 AM
I can't see 10K in 3 years. Remember 12.5 BTC will be created every 10 minutes that need to be absorbed.

As soon as price starts increasing miners start holding more coins, which then in turn fuels higher prices as supply decreases. $10,000 in 3 years is very bearish IMO.
1266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: GAWMiner Hashlet Discussion Thread on: September 13, 2014, 06:24:49 AM
Is it worth buy cloud miners or any other . I found its way cheaper usually to just pic up coins other miners dump out when a coin hits an exchange.

Agreed it is most likely you will get the coin you wanted lower then the cost of ining including the electricity.

Well its cheapest probably to buy the coin before it hits the exchange. A lot of times when coins hit the exchange you may see an increase in price for a short period of time as speculators buy them with bitcoins in hopes to make some quick gains (obviously the opposite can be true if there is a huge initial dump, but often after that happens the coins don't recover)

Here's some ideas I could expand upon:

Bitcoin & Altcoins - Some comparisons of the different altcoins against Bitcoin

Bitcoin Into Gaming - Game dev integration support and kickstart

Bitcoin Mining: "Is It Worth It?" - Self-explanatory

If these are interesting, I'll write for $5/1k words or part thereof.

I sent you a PM.

To everyone else, the base is $5 per article, I'm not specifying a length at this time. Depending on the attention they receive from places like reddit the pay is then increased based on performance.

IE if you write good articles that are well thought out etc then your base pay would increase and there is absolutely no cap on how much each article can make. IE if your article gets 300,000 views you will be getting paid 100's or 1000's of dollars for that article.
1269  Economy / Services / Re: Will let your miners run at My place for a small mining %(i have free power) on: September 12, 2014, 08:50:30 AM
I have free electricity too.

But it's a bit risky to entrust your miners at my place, eh?

its risky yes, but now i don't need to place my miners anywhere else but my mining house, but i get your point

Is your mining house verified? What is the address (if it's a business address, not a residential one)

its a residential adress. i'd be happy to tell people where to find me if they are intressted.

That's very dangerous.

Additionally, like adaseb said, there is hardly any money in mining, and there is risk for both parties (You and whoever is lending the rig)

What would the dangerous part be?

Hiring thugs to fly over to your address and smash up your rigs, then loot the remains.

The thugs would just take the miners, no need to smash them and THEN loot BROKEN goods....geeesh
1270  Economy / Services / Need Bitcoin, Tech and Gaming Writers on: September 12, 2014, 08:45:21 AM
Hello,

We are looking for some article writers for http://www.geekcipher.com/ . Most of the news is bitcoin related, but we are also adding technology and gaming articles or anything else that would be interesting. Depending on article quality we are looking to start payouts at $5 per article and it can increase from there if they attract decent attention.

If you are interested please post below with an idea for an article that you'd like to write about. If I approve the article then go ahead and write it, PM it to me and then I will review it. If the quality is good enough (native English is a bare minimum) then I will send the $5+ in bitcoins and we can adjust your payouts based on performance.

IE if you write good articles that are well thought out etc then your base pay would increase and there is absolutely no cap on how much each article can make. IE if your article gets 300,000 views you will be getting paid 100's or 1000's of dollars for that article.

Thanks!

1272  Economy / Speculation / Re: DON'T be mislead by wrong forecasts! Recovery to $850 imminent! on: September 12, 2014, 08:36:33 AM
80% chance that the next bubble won't appear till we are approaching 2016. We are seriously overbought as you can  see from the following chart. About a 50/50 chance that we could even drop below $400 for a few weeks or more. Best scenario for the near future is that we retrace the last few months.

Regardless, I will still continue to HODL. You never know, a couple big whales could show up and push the price back up to near a $1000. The odds of that happening before the end of the year though is less than 10%.

The year 2014 will be known as the year of Bitcoin Fundamentals Growth. Think of this as a good thing. More opportunities for the little guys to get in before Bitcoin does it's final explosion in value. Nobody in the first world will have an excuse for not being rich by the year 2020. I have spread the word to everyone I know. Any of them could scrape up enough money to buy at least one bitcoin. They just chose not to do so. When that time comes and they complain about being poor, I will be able to honestly say that they chosed poverty.

Exactly my take on it. I talk about bitcoin with everyone I know and I always suggest to people to buy some before it becomes too expensive to buy whole coins (which I believe will happen for most people during our next "Bitcoin Boom"). They are proactively choosing poverty and refuse to see the use of bitcoin. Long story short, I've told people to buy at $10, $40, $80, $100, $120, some did and are now doing really well. The rest say I was "lucky" each time I suggested a buy or "yeah you took a HUGE risk". When BTC hits $xx,xxx I can't wait to hear what they will say next Tongue
1273  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is wrong with BTC on: September 12, 2014, 08:29:13 AM
BTC is suffering something very strange. I mean, can someone explain, please, what is going on with the price that stuck between 450-500 USD; is ithis normal or is jut me making a scene?

Btc is not "suffering", it's not strange, nothing is wrong and you are making a scene Smiley

The hodl propaganda says every year the price will at least double and we are going nowhere but to the moon and to conquer the world.

Don't blame him or others if they feel shoked when the reality makes things seems different. Some people sell too optimistic expectations, and some people buy them.

Honestly, Just hold. Seriously, just hold. And then when the price changes, just hold. The simplest argument is this:

1. Do you believe that the USD/EUR/Rubles/Yuan etc will be printed/created by their respective central banks at will? If yes, evaluate #2
2. When supply greatly increases, do you believe value/price decreases? If you believe yes, then evaluate #3
3. Do you believe that Bitcoin has a fixed supply? If yes go to #4
4. THEN the USD/EUR/Rubles/Yuan will all decrease in value compared to bitcoins and thus the amount of USD/EUR/Rubles/Yuan etc to purchase a bitcoin will INCREASE (bitcoin price will go up)

Obviously there are more perspectives that need to be looked at, and you have to include the possibility of the world banning bitcoin or the internet being taken offline etc etc. But overall if you stick with AVERAGES and no radical changes, bitcoin price should always increase when being compared to a fiat currency that is printed without limits.
1274  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase expansion into Europe on: September 12, 2014, 08:21:10 AM
Wow, this is really cool.

Finally Coinbase is coming to Europe. Lets hope lots people and merchants will use Coinbase.
And the great thing, if both the buyer and merchant are on coinbase they dont even use a blockchain transfer and you can safe on the blockchain fees as well (those might actually increase in time. And faster than having to wait for several verifications.
Probably you would only need to use the block chain for transaction where the merchant uses a different payment processor.
But then again, if they get a monopoly they could use internal transfers for basicly everything.
Come to think of it, it would be basicly like PayPal. Just cheaper because its based on Bitcoin ...
and, uhmm, doesnt use bitcoin internaly to avoid fees and have faster transaction.
Hmm, but well, if you can skip that billion dollar mining industry you would safe a lot energy. Yeah, green, save the planet and things ...

Hmm, yeah, this is cool. Right?

So we're not basically praising a centralized solution for eliminating the caveats of our beloved Bitcoin technology? I guess we're doing something wrong here, then... Also, it is transaction fees. Blockchain fees sounds like blockchain.info gets a piece of the cake Cheesy

Bitcoin itself is decentralized. But I personally have no problems with newbies using a centralized (and easy) method of getting their first bitcoins. I remember back in 2012 I couldn't get anyone to sell me bitcoins for shit due to having no rep on the OTC. Having a few centralized places for newbies to get their bitcoins is good as it takes the risk away from having to deal with individuals online, especially since no one in their right mind would take paypal for bitcoins, that means they typically have to work even harder to get ahold of them (IE Moneypaks or Western Union)
1275  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin take off again? on: September 12, 2014, 08:16:53 AM
thanks for that reddit article  IMZ makes some valid points, he seems to be dead on which is scary a bit and ZBY ive watched many crypto currencies  halve and there is always a rise in price so you are def correct but that wont happen for another 90+ weeks i believe.

I personally don't think it'll take that long for price to continue to uptrend...then again I also didn't think it would take this long for bitcoin price to recover Tongue
1276  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 12, 2014, 08:14:23 AM
I remembered I saw somewhere before that monitoring the increase in the number of bitcoin wallets is not a good metric to measure the rate of bitcoin adoption. But I cannot remember why that is so. Does anyone know?

Well in general monitor addresses isn't that useful as the more people are educated about not reusing addresses and they start using change addresses it doesn't really tell you much.

As far as wallets go, a single person can create 10 wallets on blockchain.info, the metric goes up but really there doesn't have to be any new interest for that metric to go up.

I personally think number of transactions (excluding popular addresses such as satoshi dice or pool payouts) is a better metric https://blockchain.info/charts/n-transactions-excluding-popular?timespan=2year&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=7&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

Speaking of number of transactions....have you noticed that each "bitcoin boom" (as I like to call them) starts when the number of transactions reaches the previous bubble's?
1277  Economy / Economics / Re: How much did your salary increase over the past 5 years? on: September 12, 2014, 07:59:42 AM
An average american working in retail is happy if they even get a 2% raise a year (not counting management positions), which does not even beat inflation.
1278  Economy / Speculation / Re: I found the chart that we should be looking at on: September 12, 2014, 07:44:02 AM
https://blockchain.info/charts/bitcoin-days-destroyed?showDataPoints=false&show_header=true&daysAverageString=60&timespan=1year&scale=0&address=

The movement of old coins is slowing down which indicates that the market will soon shift in favour of the bulls.

Get ready.

I never understood that metric that well. How does one know if the bitcoin days destroyed are old or new coins? Could a few old coins be the same as many new coins?
