Yes, it is still promising on investing with ICOs because of getting higher profits in a period of time but like you said you have to be picky because there are a scams. A good example of an ICO are having events, videos of the team and partnership with great companies. You just need to remember the rule of investment, "Patience is the key to get success". ICO investment isn't a place for the dreamer get rich fastly, this is the place for those who can keep patience to wait the result from their investment, sometimes, it can take you few years. As the market begins to recover I believe the ICO market will come back to life and on average will outperform BTC and ETH. Granted there will be a great dispersion between the good ICOs and the bad ones it's far from recover and at this moment we should see another downward movement before recovering. also what does that mean by 'ICO market will come back to life' ? a lot of ICOs popped out from nowhere,did not that mean it's already life ? the main problem is a lot of ICOs did not fullfill their commitment and ran away with other people money. and on the other hand regulator trying to find out how to 'prevent' their costumer to get into it, that mean the ICOs will be died in the future. or at least only some ICOs will exist and it requires a lot of process to make it happen. |

well i lost a lot when i was starting my journey back then,
invested for more than $2000 as a start and lose it all in a few months later because of my foolishness.
but i never gave up,
i learned from my mistake,how about sad ?,yes,i felt so sad back then when i spent/lost it all.
but it did not last long because as a trader i need to maintain my head and my emotion.
the biggest problem when we're trading cryptocurrency is emotion.
we need to control it fully because crypto is a whole new level of 'asset'(compared to others).
its price can go down 100% from its average price tomorrow but at the same time it can go up 100% from its average price tomorrow.
i won't forget that and it would be my history,
even though i lost it,i did not regret it.because i learned something from it.

Let's make some raw calculation and simple math about Bitcoin movement for the past few months and year.
in January,2017 Bitcoin price at that time was around $700~$800.
and when 2017 closing in it hit $14,000 (more or less than that).
that mean the price was increasing a lot from $700~800 to around $14,000 in a single year.
based on that movement we could see that Bitcoin gained 2000% increase in term of value.
do not you think it's mooning if we're comparing it to its value when we're at that date/time and we're now at this date/time ?

I don’t think being able to De-Merit would be a good idea, people who have certain rifts would just ruin it by adding loads of De-Merit points to each other. The system would be a joke & would likely be abused by alt accounts even more than the new Merit system might/probably is being abused.
Plus scammers can De-Merit all of their haters using it, (scammer has a lot of account to bump and shill their thread) we do not have many people who care about other people on altcoin board. and when someone trying to expose them, De-Merit will come after him,and guess what will happen to him ? he won't bother with it anymore because it's totally pointless exposing them while in return he get a lot of De-Merits from them. i am completely disagree it. because everything has its own weakness as long as it's created by human/people.
(Bug,Greed,Corruption and Others)
in other words,
it's recommended to diversify your portfolio and split it to many exchanges or store some of it on the exchange and the rest on your offline wallet.
