Looks like Polo is about to delist the DAO:

On 9/5/2016, the following markets will be delisted: ABY, ADN, BITUSD, CNMT, DAO, DSH, FIBRE, FLT, GAP, GRS, HYP, IFC, LQD, MCN, MINT, MMC, MNTA, PIGGY, PTS, SILK, SWARM, WDC, XC, XCR, XPB, XUSD, YACC.

I can Understand the DAO but GRS too!  Oh well more for https://bittrex.com

Poloniex only want the big market caps.  Look at a coins like feathercoin.  ASIC resistant, PoW nanoscrypt, Run by ex-Oxford University profs, Quality Dev team, Pro forum, and it has always been in the top 5 most profitable coin to mine for over 6 months also; you can spend it in some of the pubs in Oxford UK....  and Polo don't list it.   Hell... that is a real coin in the real world. You can mine and spend down the pub on beer.

Polo just want the crypto for trading tokens.  They don't promote real world use.

Get the Ethereum Classic Wallet Google Chrome extension
forked by DontPanicBurns, a trusted dev of the ETC community

A light weight, Open Source, JavaScript Client-Side ETC Wallet. This file was modified from the myetherwallet.com wallet and classicetherwallet.com for those wanting to exclusively use ETC without having to install a full node.

know of this ?

http://www.coindesk.com/25-million-of-dao-ether-still-remain-one-month-after-hard-fork/

dao holders dont get the ether ? or fear to colect them ?

@roselee I bet that fear will vanish if we release a wallet with a tummbler/mixer  Wink
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 23, 2016, 01:02:34 PM
so we can not expect a price recovery soon. May be ETC will be in silent mode for few more months ??
Bitpop said it was going up last week.
Oh well... when has Bitpop ever been right about anything.
bitpop was right about starting and maintaining this thread back at block #1920000.  Wink  The view figures prove that one.  He invested a lot of time on that first post.  This thread is a credit to him.
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 23, 2016, 12:55:28 PM
Everyone always in a rush. I agree with greenuser about not rushing anything. As long as there is activity happening it is all good but no reason to rush into things. Buying as the price is lowering and holding for awhile is the way to go... this doesn't mean a week or a month. Projects take time and the community is in the building stage.

If DAO ETC gets dumped then so be it. Get it out of the way and in the hands of people that want it. Price may dip in the short run but will rise again in the long run making ETC even stronger.

Well said my friend.  We are not the foundation.  We have or ethics in Immutability and Security.  We are in the building stages but we want secure code, secure products. One mistake can destroy a coin forever.  You will have to wait like the rest of us.
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 23, 2016, 12:04:57 PM
Be careful of cloudmining contracts. They are not usually profitable. I have saw many people who not made ROI investing in them. But of course it is cloudmining in BTC but I will still be careful before promoting somethng like it. It might be labeled as a scam and that will not give ETC a good reputation.

Thank you for your concern but it is posted on the Ethereum Classic Official Forum and linked from the Ethereum Classic Official Website  Wink
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 23, 2016, 12:01:42 PM
but when will this happen?
When they work without issue and are secure and have been fully tested.  The foundation may rush stuff to market in order to prop up the price of their coin but we don't.  Thats how mistakes happen. And things go wrong.  Remember the Dao?

@greenuser You started it! LOL  I am going to try my hand at solo this evening.  Your absolutely right, they cannot kill all the solo miners so their attempts to disrupt the network and dump a pile of ETC into the market to keep it from gaining traction only works as long as they have ETC to dump... That isn't a bottomless supply.  Grin

@Longsnowsm, Hay i don't know how many rigs you have or your running costs but put each one on a different pool and then a couple on solo if you have that option.  Do not post too much info on your hashpower and number of rigs here.  Set up so you can run the pool.bat or the solo.bat on each rig as and when you have to.  We need to keep the pools alive or they will quit.  We will need them when the network hashpower goes up and the ETH people failover to ETC.

If you need to make some coin to sell to keep your mining opp going,  GPU mine some feathercoin with a couple of rigs and sell them on https://bittrex.com   Just don't sell any of your ETC!

@ALL Please support ETC by holding your ETC for as long as you can.  Remember: you only make a loss when you sell low.

The tiller is made fast so time to get some shut-eye, the tide will have turned by the time we wake.  You never know, we may get the spinnaker out in the morning.  Cheesy Night-night  Wink

Whadda ya think guys?
https://whaleclub.co/i/XhQgnZ

So what happens if it goes to zero but we still keep hashing?  What then?

We are hashing for freedom and not coin now my friend.  Full on disruption technology at it's best.
We have an asset people will always want.  We are a fly in the Ethereum ointment.  We are holding ETH back, (well we are not actually, they just think that way, the reality is....  well they are just incompetent and dishonest and it is that that holds them back)

When in doubt... Add more hashing power... That's all.  Grin
Add more nodes and spread the hashpower over them.  Wink  They will have to DDoS each node.  Cheesy
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 22, 2016, 08:50:59 PM
The pool operators on Slack are saying the DDOS are increasing and they have never seen anything like this.  Coming form various IP's and it just keeps coming...
So i see, eveyone is going solo  Cheesy  How decentralised can you get.  Cheesy  Someone asked when a Small miner with ~40MH/s will hit a block.... every 2.4 days by my calcs.  I didn't post.  Too many people all talking at once for me.
I'm on the dev channel waiting for a fix for the "blocks mined" field in elaine's block explorer  http://blocks.elaineou.com/home
Unless i do the
Code:
geth -attach
and code my way in.  Roll Eyes  I just need a way of monitoring "blocks solved" without getting out of bed.  (and without using remote google_chrome or remote desktop)  Wink

Anyhow, they can't DDOS everyone solo, and if big pools get taken out for a few hours, the diff will drop and the blocks will flow to the solominers. It must be costing EF a fortune.   Cheesy  Unstopable code hay? Cheesy  Well i'm happy mining solo.

Moreover:  "ocminer" uses good DDOS protection at supranovea, so if anyone wanted to pool mine they can.
313  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 22, 2016, 07:38:30 PM
We will just have to sit it out  Roll Eyes

Anyhow, so some good news...

UK Government
are starting to accept crypto as money.  They are allowing gambling establishments, Casino, High Street Betting Shops, Amusement Arcades, Race Courses, “on-line” betting, as well as the One-Arm-Bandit in the local Pub, all to take payment and payout in crypto.

Quote  "The UKGC’s new LCCP will come into effect on 31 October 2016. Its reference to digital currencies will boost awareness and increased adoption for cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin across Great Britain". End quote

REF: https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/uk-gambling-regulator-views-digital-currencies-as-acceptable-by-licensees/

So by default, these will be walk-in exchanges.   Thin end of the wedge!  How long before all high-street stores take payment in crypto?

We already have Pubs that take Crypto. https://youtu.be/I5aU79h7NKo

And Europe are going more regulatory.  WTF!

315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 22, 2016, 06:12:34 PM

Also is there a specific version of Ethminer we need to mine ETC?

This is an easy to follow guide for windows Solo mining ETH https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-ethereum/
only difference to mining ETC is which geth you use and which flag you run i.e.
Code:
--oppose-dao-fork

It's all there just read

Code:
is law :)

BTW @Longsnowsm an unscrupules pool could use your hashpower to mine ETH but pay you in ETC to your etc address....
they would have to give you a GUI of shares in ETC, but it could be done, I think!
316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 22, 2016, 06:02:14 PM
You can use one geth on the network but if you have the HHD space, run one per rig

check out this page: cryptomining-blog.com/tag/ethereum-gpu-miner/

particularly the geth syntax...

– To listen for connections only on the local system type:
Code:
geth --rpc --rpcaddr "localhost" --rpcport 8545
– To be accessible on the local network type:
Code:
geth --rpc --rpcaddr "192.168.0.123" --rpcport 8545
– Make sure that for local LAN accessibility you replace the rpcaddr IP address to the one that of the machine geth is running on,
the 192.168.0.123 is just an example

– To be accessible on the Internet type:
Code:
geth --rpc --rpcaddr "x.x.x.x" --rpcport 8545

– Make sure that for Internet accessibility you replace the rpcaddr IP address to the one that of the machine geth is running on,
the x.x.x.x in the example will not work, also make sure that the 8545 port (or another one you decide to use) is forwarded
You do no how to port forward?  Mine field in it's self!

There goes todays crash course in solo mining.  This is eveything you need in these last two posts.  Just need to go figure.  Good luck!
Not giving any more info as pool owners will want my guts for garters.

ETH constant attacking on ETC is a benefit for ETC and ETC will grow, even this thread is 5x more popular than the ETH thread, 30 days and it has 130,000 views+ :-)

What is the evidence that ETH is attacking the ETC? I noticed the price of ETC is quite stable at the present times.

ETC price is not stable, what you see is contoled price.. They are controling price of ETC and ETH.. If you watch graphs you can clearly see, that there is no volume in trading, and that graphs are almost in the streigh line.. if you watch Candles, you can see, that up and down candles are mostly the same.. as much as go down, goes back up.. This price control is making me crazy, and whoever is doing this is loosing a lot of money.. and if you ask yourself who have money from the banks, developements? There is your anwser..

Well said, the market depth is also way out at times to the way the candles play out.
Nanopool took a couple of DDoS hits in the night.  I lost about 2 hours mining.
I'm now mining Solo to my own node.  Funny thing, im hitting blocks like never before and have already made my money back.
Looks like i'm sticking with solo until the hashrate picks up or until the EF run out of steam.

Ok, so now you have my curiosity up, I have never solo mined... How does one go about solo mining?  I am using the claymore miner for my rigs.  I downloaded Geth and have that running with the Mist wallet which is now syncing...  So what are the next steps to trying the solo mining?  Grin

OK so in windows...  Using old geth,
Make a .bat file in the same folder as "geth" and put the following code in it
Code:
geth --oppose-dao-fork -rpc

If you are using the new “geth”  i.e. geth-windows-4.0-amd64.exe,  just rename it “geth.exe” and  make a .bat with this code in it.
Code:
geth -rpc

new geth will not need argument
Code:
--oppose-dao-fork
so drop that bit on new geth, but be sure you have the new one or you will be mining eth.

Use this new .bat you just made to run "geth" before you open "mist".
You need to keep this "geth" running to solo mine but you can run geth and then open and close "Mist" as many times as you like, but you need to keep "geth" running to mine.  This will be your fullnode or solopool

====================================================================================================

Now Download "Ethereum 0.9.41" and install it. This will be your mining software that will point at your "fullnode"

Make a .bat file in the same folder as "ethminer.exe"     i.e. "C:/Progrem Files/Ethereum 0.9.41/Release" folder
and put the following code in it.
Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
ethminer -G
Now run this bat once your geth node syncs. (BUT NOT BEFORE)

This is an easy to follow guide for windows Solo mining ETH https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/guides/how-to-mine-ethereum/
only difference to mining ETC is which geth you use and which flag you run i.e.
Code:
--oppose-dao-fork

When you hit a block you will get 5 etc in your wallet.  It will not have any history on a blockexplore like at a pool because it is new money and has no history.

To work out how often you should hit a block with your hashpower, get the difficulty and hashrate from here https://etherhub.io/home
Get the blocktime/interval from here http://fork.ethstats.net/
and feed the info into this calculator here  https://etherscan.io/ether-mining-calculator

Ethereum have made a total mockery of crypto, I hope the public stick with fiat. The banking system is less corrupt than the ethereum foundation. At least in the world of fiat they send the Nick Leesons of this world to jail.   Long live fiat i say!

I am writing to my MP and local Education Authority to see if i can help get a Public Information Campaign off the ground to warn people of the Dangers of Crypto.  This whole chain off events is turning me from a campaigner in favour of crypto into a campaigner against crypto.

This technology must never go mainstream.  It should stay a fringe subculture. Would you let the EF look after your Granny's money? (your future inheritance?)

This is the future of the EFs smart contracts system....
