161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Litecoin Will Never Die on: September 05, 2016, 02:38:40 AM
in fact now litecoin marketcap is very low.. we must see the fact litecoin will be dead soon

Is it as low as when they first started?  Maybe they will be reborn,  Like that darkcoin thing that nearly "died" and came back as Dash?

Or maybe each asset class has a cycle?  You know, that old chestnut... "buy low sell high"?  Are you one of these new traders? I don't understand the "dead" term with respect to an asset class!
Do you not belive in theory/systems such as Kondratiev wave?  Does it just have to be dead/alive, all/nothing, heads/tails?
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only ETC is the real Ethereum on: September 05, 2016, 02:21:06 AM
They both suck and suffer from the Smart Contract vulnerabilties, so both will die in the end if nothing is done to remedy to the problem.

There are no Smart Contract vulnerabilties.  slock.it messed up on their code writing.  The vulnerabilties were that they did not protect their Dao.

A bit like writing a cheque with the correct date and then signing it but leaving the value blank and then giving it to a homeless man.  Is it the bank to blame when the homeless man writes in his own value and goes to cash it out?

But if the bank recalls all the cash and then issues new cash just to stop one homeless man taking advantage of the bloke who wrote the bad cheque, that could be seen as governance vulnerabilties don't you think?

It's like living with the Jetsons..

Who are the Jetsons?  Anyhow, lots of Chinese getting muged in France because they carry cash.  Now they want more safety.
Big Protests.

http://www.france24.com/en/20160904-massive-anti-racism-protest-paris-after-chinese-man-death

Maybe they need to be using litecoin more but they like cash and gold.

Sorry @greenuser and if i holded my Dao on exchange similar bittrex? I cant wtd etc from Dao?
Sorry to here that. Can you send them to a ETH Geth wallet or ETH based myetherwallet and then exchange them?  I don't know, I kept well clear of the Dao from the get go.  Too many Devs with conflict of interests for my liking.  All I can do is appeal to people to come forward and share their issues to see if there is a solution for you.

Please can anyone help Maicol792?

I have olded my Dao on bittrex, afther bittrex have converted this Dao in eth 100:1 ... But at this point if i have 10000 Dao now i have 100 eth but my ETC? Bittrex need to return 100 ETC or my idea is wrong? Thanks
No you are right!  Have you talked to bittrex?

No i don't talked whit bittrex .... But another question if now i buy some DAO afther i can convert this DAO and have ETH and ETC? Or is wrong my idea?

I am not here to give investment advice my friend other than. Only invest what you can afford to loose. You have to decide. If you cannot afford to loose, buy gold. It is up 11%  http://www.kitco.com/charts/livegold.html

In light of the Minebox news, it may pay to give some time to dig out those old HHDs you all have tucked awway.  They will soon be able to mine you some coin.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: September 04, 2016, 10:36:45 AM

Yes, interesting isn't it?  The difficulty must be hurting eth miners hard now what with that bomb ticking.  I know some of our bigger miners are running at reduced hashpower to save electricity costs during the dips I know i have.  Also it lowers our diff if you use less of your hashpower.  I am underclocking ATM.
Moreove, I have pointed some of my haspower at eth to help up their difficulty.  The Eth i receive i change for Etc in shapeshift, it's a case of what strategy returns the best effect in a given situation.  Also, it helps to have some hashpower up your sleeve in case of a 51% attack attempt.  But we have gone over all this so many times here already.  Roll Eyes  keep an eye here  https://www.whattomine.com/

But the opposite trade (ETC to ETH) with smart contracts still problematic in Shapeshift. I also use Shapeshift for ETH to ETC exchange.

yes, if you have eth/etc mined before block #1920000
I sold all mine at 24mɃ before the Dao hack and had none at the fork. I started etc afresh so i have no legacy coins to worry about not that i am selling my freshly minted solo mined etc coins.

Also, If Bitcoin continues to move up like this i may be starting up my underclocked last generaton BTC ASICs again

This is from Poloniex - notices:

We are preparing to release the WhiteHat ETC to the withdrawal contract within the next several hours.

Can someone please explain me what is the WhiteHat ETC withdrawal contract?

This was posted 2 days ago

Doesn't the DAO hacker have access to their ETC since yesterday?  I have been waiting for the earth to quake, ETC to fall to negative numbers, and for Elvis to come out of hiding and announce he is running for President.... So far nothing, nada....  I double checked Polo this moring, pulled out a magnifying glass and no sign of the minus in front of ETC...  Hmmm, And I was really looking forward to Elvis winning the US election...

Looking like yet another FUD event created by the ETHF is going to pass without anything happening.  Now if we can put pressure on the ETHF to force the return of the DAO funds THEY stole that are "unclaimed" we can get on with the business at hand without meddling by those that don't seem to care what immutable means.

You are like 4 days behind but you can still claim. You should read here more often. If you do not claim, EF get your ECT.

When does the hacker have his etc in posession?

Now! And he is letting people claim it back look.... https://whwithdraw.bity.com/

I think they initiated that 2 days ago, I will wait and see how the market react to the dump

Don't forget to tell your Polo friends

Wow! Shapeshift are Backing Minebox on Ethereum Classic Blockchain.

“I had the pleasure of learning about minebox with the team in Vienna. I told them I wanted to be their first customer; this is a phenomenal solution for decentralizing all the things”   Erik Voorhees CEO of shapeshift.io

This is big news, Looks like “IMMUTABLE BLOCKCHAIN” is our unique selling point people.

From the minebox website "You can easily roll back..."

Better get them fast, with the words easily roll back involved the eth foundation will buy them out of stock fast lol!

It could be done. lol,  You could store Eth Database in minebox and put it on the Etc Blockhain.  Minebox would then have an immutable copy so the EF could roll back without worry of fraud, censorship or third-party interference whenever their platform users democratically decided they wanted to.  We could even host their vote for them.  Cheesy

But Minebox will be true decenteralised storage.  I have signed up to supply 1TB of storage space. I just read on their website.

could then raiden also be just copied? my guess is no..

maybe someone can elaborate a bit or any links about that?

what is raiden?  A fictional character from Konami's Metal Gear series?  What is this?  Some game?   Wink

or the Ethereum vertion similar to the proposed Bitcoin Lightning Network?

Maybe?  I haven't a clue.  That is a question for the slack people my friend. I see a demand for it in Bitcoin but Ethereum blocks are not full yet. Maybe when they are, there will be a demand but i don't see one crypto currency dominating any time soon and if one does....  I expect it to be Russian or Chinese in origin.  Moreove, it is nice to see Bitcoin bounce back some.  What i have lost in etc over the last hour or so i have gained in btc. As for ethereum classic, it is still very young still and will take time to feel its feet.

Singular DTV (Etheruem Project), Decentralized netflix just released their bug bounty program.

https://forum.singulardtv.com/t/singulardtv-bug-bounty/47

Singular DTV is backed by Consensys/Joseph Lubin in new york..

Thoughts?

bounty s are always good but i don't watch TV very often and when i do it tends to be Eurasian based stuff.
I find Americans are quit difficult to understand.  The women talk way too fast and they all treat people like children.  I like House MD and i like the Trailer Park Boys, but a lot of the Western TV is just junk, including British TV.  There is only so much Trump and Clinton one can take without feeling bilious.  But as local tv goes, good luck,  i wish them all the best if you follow that sort of thing.

can someone explain:
since all the dapp code is public it should be easy to deploy dapps on both chains or copy them right?
From what i understand, yes!

Was just announced at ETC Shanghai meetup that https://minebox.io/ will be launching on the ETC blockchain Cool

while a great idea - their calculator has returns which are quite unrealistic.

Nobody is going to pay that much to store data? MineBox must get the rewards from paying customers......

........would anyone pay 8,000€ to store 28TB for 2 years?

That depends on their USP (Unique Selling Point).  Security backed by a blockchain?
I wonder it they RAID 5 your data across peers.  That would offer good security.
I will look into this further.  I have a spare volume of 1TB to play with on a machine with constant up time.

But good news all the same  Smiley

On the subject of USPs, I was looking on Ethereum Project web page  https://www.ethereum.org/

I see they have droped the term "IMMUTABLE"

“Ethereum is a decentralized platform for applications that run exactly as programmed without any chance of fraud, censorship or third-party interference.”

Can anyone check see if they still have the term "IMMUTABLE" on their website?

I don't see the word immutable on the front page any longer.  Since they haven't "yet" censored they can keep that on the page, but when core members make statements that if the "community" voted to censor they would.  So lets see how long before they make another fork that crosses more words off the "mission statement".

I joind MineBox.  Will let you all know when i am up and running.

Anyhow, Bitpop is right.  If its not immutable its not a blockchain, its just a database that updates ~13sec
